A Made Up Sound - Archive Ii

Collecting orders for the Clone Basement Series represses, available next week.

New Clone Basement Series (lucky number 013!) with the long awaited return of A Made Up Sound (aka 2562), following up on his Archive EP/CBS02. Written as a counterbalance to the more experimental releases on his own AMUS label series, Archive II finally unleashes what's possibly his most banging, straight-forward club material to date, while retaining the trademark A Made Up Sound funk and swing. "Hang-Up" is all about the irresistible Herbie-injected groove, cut-up and layered to great effect, whereas things get darker and bass-heavier with technotrack "Sweetback" on the flip. Keeping the tension high till a drop towards the end, seven minutes never seemed so short. A great first number 013 release and we can't wait to hear some of our favourite dj's play the tracks out loud. Another proper banger on the Clone Basement Series! Enjoy!

Pedestrian - Drop Bear / Ultramarine Express

"In January of 2014, whilst touring Australia on foot, our Pedestrian encountered the mythical 'Drop Bear'. A vicious and rabid descendant of it's cuddly younger brother, the Koala. Until this year such creatures were believed to be an outback myth and have been filed amongst the Loch Ness Monster & The Yeti as nothing more than old wives tales, but Pedestrian's new release is irrefutable evidence that such a beast exists. It is only by narrowly surviving an attack from this deadily animal that such sonic frequencies have been able to become documented.
Following the encounter, Pedestrian dashed (on foot) to a DJ shop in Melbourne where expert 'Drop Bear' hunter, Professor Phil K was to hear about the near fatal meeting with the furry fiend. There and then Professor Phil began to make his notes via the medium of a nearby Korg Volca Bass. Word had spread and anxious reporters were calling the shop looking for leads (or cords) but Phil was peaking, lost in a world of Acid. Finally he had a lead on the creature he'd been hunting for his whole life and by no means was anyone calling up looking for cords going to get in his way.' 030303
31.10.2014

Good job 030303 got their hands on these six tracks by Rolando Simmons as they remind you of where acid got its name from: this is music to trip to. The 303 is abused to the fullest while Simmons adds snares and outlandish melodies to the acid bubbles and bleeps that are never far away. Opener Acid Marriage is a mid-tempo, melancholic soundtrack for ravers who can't be sure of anything except they've lost the plot on the dance floor. The more downbeat second track consists of washed out melodies and deformed vocals and is unlikely to bring you back on planet earth. As you expect from a song entitled 'Home Alone 4', this one's to come down on. Montignac continues on the same tip while adding some quirkiness to. Dim, then, is a true highlight; with its driving beat, crisp hi-hats and playful acid bubbles, the track goes well with the image of a dwarf bouncing around on a horse that's way to big for his own good. The EP's final is Garden Diodes, a forceful upbeat track that pulls you right back into that creepy trip.

Wheez-ie - Remember The Score Ep

Wheez-Ie

Remember The Score Ep

14.06.2012

It's enough to make you want to break out the Vicks. Following in the footsteps of Zomby's Where Were U in 92, Texan producer Matt "Wheez-ie" Mauldin—who debuted with All Werked Up, an EP of ravey juke on Well Rounded Individuals last year—has now turned his hand to British hardcore and acid house, and proves very adept at it.

Despite the frantic pianos, bristling breakbeat and air horns, "Remember the Score" is a contemporary release, not some long lost classic—there's a sheen to the production and the sub bass is too subtle. But who wants slavish recreations It's 2012, man. "Fuck Yer Shit" is a rousing acid burble with a hefty 4/4 kick but it's rather overshadowed by "Choke Hold," which has more than a hint of "Higher State of Consciousness" and even a soupçon of Doug Lazy in all its frantic, growling, TB-303 tweaked glory.

The opening minute of "Desire" proves that juke can trace its lineage back to acid rave—pitching up a female vocal and manically looping it will never go out of fashion it seems. Wheez-ie spends the remainder of the track hopping between juke and hardcore like some aural version of the movie flashback, offering compelling evidence that this rave/juke crossover may just have legs."

Subspec Music - The Power Of Hydrogen Ep

The Power of Hydrogen EP collects three of Subspec's finest Acid tracks as the label's debut vinyl release.

Jay Zoney - The Meltdown (Hardfloor Remix) is a storming builder of an Acid track. Hardfloor bring their signature sensibilities to bare on Jay Zoney's original, stripping it down to its basic groove and building it back up with slow-burn tension.
Symplx - Back To Dat starts with the Chciago blueprint for hypnotic, jacking Acid and combines it with the heavy, abstract 808 grooves that Symplx is known for.
Countered - Telegraph is 100% dirty, dirty warehouse Acid. By turns funked up and propulsive, Telegraph delivers a tweaky, blistered acid line over insistent rhythms.

finally repressed!
German producer and acid head The Exaltics is back with a new EP on Shipwrec that comes with a remix by Unit Moebius Anonymous and terrific artwork by Jaco Putker. Real name Robert Witschakowski, The Exaltics is co founder of the Solar One Music label and has turned out a steady stream of EPs and LPs on labels like Trust, Creme Organization and Clone West Coast Series until now, always coming on strong with a dense techno style. Opener 'The New Beginning' continues in that tradition where electro drums are run through with racing acid and more serene and tender synths colour in the backdrop. 'Coroded' is a much more bulky and brutal techno affair with tough drums that roll up and down, even angrier acid lines and plenty of industrial percussion. Final original 'Downwards' is even quicker and more abrasive and barely allows you to catch your breath with its hurried kick drums, ripping 303 and frankly manic, metallic hi hats. The Unit Moebius Anonymous remix is suitably tough and teeth clenching with paranoid sirens, gun like percussion and a true sense of unstoppable force. Serious techno for serious heads, this is an arresting EP that it is impossible to ignore.

Luke Solomon - Things Wot I Done, Vol. 1 Ep (incl. Benjamin Damage Remix)

Over the course of his twenty-plus-year-long career, Luke Solomon has made one hell of a name for himself: he's released dozens of singles and EPs on labels like Crosstown Rebels, Rekids, Cajual, and Playhouse, to name a few; founded his own imprint, Classic, with longtime friend and co-conspirator, Derrick Carter; dropped four albums; and had a hand in well over 100 remixes. As one might expect, it's a tremendous honor to now welcome the veteran DJ and producer to LPH, where we think he fits in perfectly, despite being the artist in our ranks with the most impressive tenure.

Things Wot I Done, Vol. I kicks off rambunctiously, with 'Let the Rhythim,' a sharp, powerful house tune wrapped in a barbed wire knot of chunky synth hooks, loose drums, and looped vocals you'll find yourself immediately singing along with. 'Wot U Du' is the acid-y complement to 'Rhythim,' a more malevolent tune that sounds crisper and more focused, rendering it, arguably, more destructive.

The flip is commenced with a remix of 'R U Ready' by 50Weapon's Benjamin Damage, a buddy whom we've been courting to work with us for a year. His cut—which is the first effort yielded from his new hardware-centric setup—is a twisted, acid-laced techno one that'll

immediately ignite any dancefloor. The EP is finished with the Solomon original, which is no less punchy than Damage's version, but a little more bizarre and wonky; it's loaded with effects, unexpected twists and turns, and screeches that're plopped in, seemingly, at random. The 12' ends as it begins: with a bang.

As the title implies, this is presumably part of a series and we already can't wait to see what Luke does next.
