Prior to releasing a string of influential and widely acclaimed solo records under his own name on labels such as Important and Hospital Productions, Alessandro Cortini (Nine Inch Nails) self-released two albums under the name SONOIO ( It's Me.') in 2010 and 2011 in limited runs.

Praised for their complex and rich pop sound, strong vocal delivery and thoughtful compositions with impeccable production values, SONOIO's Red' and Blue' (and the accompanying remix albums Non Red' and Non Blue') made heavy use of Cortini's expert manipulation of the Buchla synthesizer, releasing the single Enough', and remixing Ladytron's Houdini' before setting off on tour in direct support.

As activity with Nine Inch Nails, the demands of touring, and his other solo endeavors began to pick up, production on the third and final SONOIO installment was delayed. In 2014 however, after years of silence, SONOIO posted the single and video for the song Thanks For Calling' exclusively on sonoio.org and quickly reignited rumors and hope for the release of the third album.

Four years have passed since then, and Dais Records is proud to announce - finally - the exclusive release of SONOIO's third and final effort: Fine', and the official re-release of the single and video for Thanks For Calling'. Fine is the first SONOIO full length to be released on vinyl, with gorgeous photography and packaging designed by Caspar Newbolt of Version Industries.

Opening track I Don't Know' and the mournful follow-up Left' set the stage for the emotional ride, with reverbed synths over an acute mid-tempo beat - accompanied by astonishingly strong vocals, which those accustomed to Cortini's instrumental works will likely be happily shocked by. Next, the aforementioned single Thanks For Calling' starts slow, building over 4 minutes with Cortini whispering, speaking, building strength into the gorgeously delivered line: falling to pieces' before the track explodes into a driving anthem.

The album then quite literally descends into Pieces', an instrumental effort that brings to mind Aphex's Ambient Works - a submerged lullaby of electronics before re-emerging into Vitamin D', an energetic and pulsing track that snaps the listener to attention. A pattern of smart and intentional pacing and rhythm becomes apparent, as the listener is taken down through moody, effective dirges ( Bad Habit', Under The Sea') and lifted up into a surprising guitar piece What's Before'. I Don't Know (Coda)' is the album's effective and final track, with Cortini's vocals muffled and echoing I'm in the mirror, let me in....' before emerging loud and clear above a wash of howling synths.

Personal, layered and complex, Fine' achieves greatness as both a singular example of deep and inspiring pop music, and as the final album - the closing chapter in the story of SONOIO.

Sundays is the debut full length from Oakland-based Tanukichan, aka multi-instrumentalist Hannah van Loon. At surface level, the album sounds just how the title describes: hazy, dreamy, reflective, just like a lazy Sunday afternoon. Upon second and third listens, the dreamy music unveils a deeper world: an ever present sense of longing, an endless state of summer and a period of instability that plagues us all at one point or another in our lives.

Raised in San Francisco, van Loon started out making classical, bluegrass and jazz music as well as playing in numerous bands in the area before deciding to make something more personal. What started with a few unfocused demos, with van Loon playing all the instruments herself in her house, became a studio experience and viable collection of music after her friend Anthony Ferraro of Astronauts, Etc. introduced her to Company Records founder Chaz Bear (Toro Y Moi, Les Sins). After collaborating on her 2016 EP Radiolove, van Loon and Bear set out to make a much more sonically cohesive release, with both the producer and artist playing all the instruments on the record. The result is a slice of dream pop that could only come from the combination of the laid back atmosphere of California and the nostalgic and often difficult memories that are generally associated with coming of age.

To van Loon, the tracks of Sundays are a form of contemplation and approaching life's issues from a different and less complicated perspective. 'Sometimes for me, it feels easier to write songs about things than to talk. A lot of things in life are layered and paradoxical, but with songs it always seems simpler.'

Opening track 'Lazy Love' sets the stage, sonically and lyrically, for the rest of the album, combining vulnerable lyrics with gorgeous, fuzzy tones. Above pummeling synths and guitar tones, van Loon sings 'you know I'd do anything/don't you know I try my best/if I could wake up when the sun is rising' showing the album's constant theme of balancing always wanting to be the best person you can be, while also feeling a low level joy at letting life play out as it wants to. 'Natural' is a track that feels perfect for a road trip, a track that hums away with a driving beat, culminating in the sheer excitement of finally having a night alone with someone you've loved for a while, among many highs and lows: 'a window too bright/it's natural sunlight/grey fades to white lie/kiss you tonight/it's natural delight/help me feel right.' The tracks collectively address a deep rooted sense of yearning for someone, something new, while also feeling content with your life; a realization that maybe the places you've always belonged aren't where you should be anymore, that suddenly you might be looking for something completely different.

'I settled on the name Sundays as the title of the record because it encapsulated how the record felt to me,' van Loon says. 'I was thinking about the laziness, and dreamy clarity that you can feel after a late night, waking up having to face the world with a new perspective.' Sundays encapsulates this feeling, a nostalgic way of looking at the world, waking up feeling like a slightly different person than before, looking back on life, not sure if you can tackle what's next, but doing your best, day in and day out.

This is the translucent red vinyl format of the 11 track album that was released on CD in January 2018.

When two icons of electronic music team up for a collaborative project, the result is destined to become something extraordinary. Fresh on Francis Harris' Kingdoms imprint comes Adamo Golán's seven track LP, 'Exile And The New'. Golán is the alter ego of British-German artist Laurens A. Schmidt, who has been pursuing a more club-focused techno project, while developing an ever deeper fascination with experimental music, ambient and film scores. Drawing influence from his adopted homes Berlin and currently London, the 26-year-old has been uncompromisingly trying to develop his own musical voice.

'Exile And The New' expresses this ongoing pursuit and, being the first full-length and first ever release by Adamo Golán, marks the start of his most personal project to-date. Stretching over seven tracks, it touches upon a diverse set of sceneries, moods, and emotions whilst a distinctive sound design gives the work a subtle framework and guiding thread.

'Fis' starts the proceedings, introducing drones and field recordings and enveloping the listener in Golán's distinct sound world. 'Just Friends' merges distant snapshots of disembodied vocals with granular sound design and a sense of both space and creeping claustrophobia simultaneously. It's an approach the young producer has mastered - 'Replica' maintains an ambience of the deeply personal and a wider, hazy focus, realised via exquisite melodic fragments against a backdrop of pads and chiming electronics. Title track 'Exile And The New' unfolds around another cinematic world scored via a single stringed instrument, static interference and oceans of space. 'Lie to Me' brings a piano refrain to the fore, wrapped in luscious ambience and more fragments of a conversation heard through the rain. 'Then Rely On Me' slowly develops out of a haunting atmosphere and finds an uneasy but strangely beautiful flow, before 'The Hungry Years' closes out the album as it started - floating in space.

The 26-year-old artist sees the album as a journey that should captivate but never impose itself on the listener. It´s a gracious and neighborly invitation to dive in, get lost and explore its facets and peculiarities

His professional work as a keyboardist and vocalist found him on stage and in the studio with many of the 80s greats from the Clash, Todd Rundgren, B-52s, Violent Femmes, The Ramones, Tina Turner, Mark Ronson, Dire Straits and Bryan Adams. While offstage and out of the major studio sessions, Tommy wrote in little books, made animation films and hooked up a massive amount of synthesizers, sequencers,microphones and recorded songs like diary entries. He self released almost 20 CDs, cassettes and one Self Titled 12' Ep. Each song selected here is stunningly simple, lush, desperate, playful, and harmonic, touching on disparate trangents like Brian Wilson, Egyptian Lover, Michael Shrieve,Holger Czukay, Ariel Pink, YMO, AOR FM West Coast Rock, Arthur Russell, Martin Denny, Peter Gordon, Drexciya, Prince and Private Issued New Age Boogie. This is perfect pop, charming, sincere, infectious and the work of a humble, good hearted, romantic savant. Apostille is a man who's torn through enough sound-systems to know the difference between gesture and meaning. Alongside running his own acclaimed DIY record label NIGHT SCHOOL RECORDS , Glasgow native, Michael Kasparis has spent the last few years making forays into the realm of hardcore punk with his groups Anxiety and The Lowest Form.
Throughout all this, his solo electronic venture, Apostille has continued to evolve with each twist and turn of the world. What started off as a quest to whip up a mood and force that into a song has steadily become more of a mission in communication.
His audacious 2015 debut album 'Powerless'  self-released through Night School set the template by hooking up his honest delivery to some manic expositions in electronic pop. At once minimal and courageous with intent to connect, Apostille songs race off with unchecked abandon, skittering drum machines, thick walls of sequenced synth and decidedly elastic basslines. The resultant live shows, noted for their frenzy and ragged vision, soon left Kasparis wanting to reach out in a more imaginative way than through volume and conflict

'Choose Life' is both the album Apostille chose to make and had to make. He dialled down the clown, built up a new-found confidence in his voice and melody in general and began to feel more at home in the refuge of pop music (with a capital P). As Kasparis explains 'Choose Life began as a chronicle of a bad time. Many of the songs were written as some sort of catharsis, an escape from a tumultuous couple of years. The album title was intended as ironic at first but as the writing process went on the album began to feel more playful, I was finding revelatory threads in it I hadn't intended. Choose Life became an imperative.' All the truest pop music speaks to us of escape and through this new album Apostille allows its transformative power to fully manifest. It's an album full of life and energy, as disobedient as it is heroic in its pursuit of liberation.Recorded with Lewis Cook (of Happy Meals, The Cosmic Dead) at his home studio Full Ashram, 'Choose Life' came together in serial fashion through 2017 with Kasparis calling in when each new song was ready to commit to tape. Cook in turn engineered the recordings and in some instances helped produce the material. The subsequent final mixes were then mastered by Mikey Young in early 2018. 'Fly With The Dolphin' opens the album like a cork rocketing from a bottle, dashing to the horizon with a rampant beat, synth pop throttle and acidic edge. Kasparis implores us to swim, walk, drive and fly away, even resorting to pressing the ejector seat on everything he wants to leave behind. Melody and purpose is pushed to the fore, backed to the hilt by some brutish rhythmic production. 'Feel Bad' is similarly equipped, with Kasparis sounding more himself than ever. Nothing is cloaked in reverb, obscured or distorted, this is Apostille in the broad daylight, ambitious, open-armed and vulnerable. 'If there's something I know, it's that I'll see you again, I'm losing everything I know, I would walk into the ocean just to give you a rest' confesses Kasparis in his sleek setting of glossy drum programming and buoyant refrains in the melancholic key. This is pop music as redemption, the drawing of a line, songs that step anew unto the dawn.In parallel to this emergent resolution there's also an acknowledgement of dissonance and 'black-sky thinking' employed in many of the tracks, including 'The Mordant', 'Without Me' and 'In Control', that turn a cracked mirror back onto Kasparis. The effect is often nightmarish and threatens to overwhelm, yet as the songs advance a certain deadpan humour leaks through the exaggeration leaving the punch cushioned. 'Thirteen Minutes' relies on a similar transgressive approach, 'let the bomb drop' demands Kasparis, daring the worst whilst triggering the countdown. The electronic hand claps sting, the bassline continues mercilessly ever forward. Kasparis is using the song to make himself uncomfortable. This is fight or flight made sound, it's forcing us all to make that jump. It dares to test extremes of emotion until they become caricatures and lose their power to constrain. Kasparis affirms this further with his realisation upon completing the record that he used the experience 'to grab life by the throat', having wanted to transcribe in music that stupor that comes with feeling too much. 'I wanted to write a song that sounded like you were full but hadn't had enough, so 'Choose Life' is eight of them' admits Kasparis. This act of always becoming, never arriving is at the heart of Apostille, the project only exists in a state of flux, mutable and moving in both senses of the word.

The Knife's Karen Drejer hat als FEVER RAY mit ihrem neuen Album - Plunge' gerade Kritiker wie Fans begeistert. Das düstere und gespenstische Erstlingswerk - Fever Ray' aus dem Jahr 2009, dessen Songs bei diversen Filmen und Serien (z.B. - Dark', - Breaking Bad') im Soundtrack eingesetzt wurden, war lange Zeit vergriffen. Nun sind Einfach-CD im Jewelcase und auch die LP ab sofort wieder über uns erhältlich.

"World Beyond" ist die Neueinspielung von Erasures letztjährigem Album "World Be Gone" in einem post-klassischen Gewand. Es wurde in nur zehn Tagen von Andy Bell und sieben Musiker*innen des Brüsseler Echo Collectives eingespielt. Die Idee zum Album entwickelte Vince Clarke, der zunächst vorgeschlagen hatte eine Single von "World Be Gone" in einem größeren Rahmen einzuspielen. Im Gespräch mit dem Echo Collective formte sich allerdings schnell die Idee, das gesamte Album neu zu interpretieren. Produktion und Arrangement lagen in den Händen des Echo Collective, den Mix besorgte Gareth Jones. Reflektierte "World Be Gone" in einem größeren Maße als zuvor die aktuelle Lage der Welt, ohne dabei freilich hoffnungslos zu werden, offenbaren die Neueinspielungen eine neue Dimension der Stücke, die man so nicht vermutet hättet.
