Cristina Checa and Eloi Caballé started their musical project in 2013. Camins/Desert (Glitter End) was both the starting point and first stage of the language they intended to create. Songs without an obvious sound identity that inhabit a place somewhere in between pop and electronic music. After their debut, Envalira (Minty Fresh, 2014)' it became clear that the message of these Catalans wasn't limited to their sound: Desert are pop for the present —confident and enthusiastic, close and dimensional— all at the same time.

Laurel Halo, the Cocteau Twins' 4AD sound, Insides, Dean Blunt, Kate Bush, Julia Holter or even Grimes can help you imagine their sound. Just imagine Maria del Mar Bonet and a band like Cocteau Twins reunited back in time, and you will have an approximation of the sound space that Desert creates. All matched up by their natural eclecticism and futuristic vision. Sónar recently sent new music from the duo into space as part of its campaign celebrating the 25th anniversary of the festival.

Desert's new EP revolves around ideas that we all have within ourselves. The joy within anxiety, platonic love in the Internet era, a feeling of emptiness and the optimism that can arise from all these situations. It deepens into the mundane and the unreal at the same time. Everything that isn't said, everything that doesn't happen. It's the place where they and their story feel at ease.

The main focus in this collection of songs is desire. Desert's music talks about a feeling nourished by the lack of something —desire— and uses melodies that instantly make us minimize our lacks while we still can celebrate they exist.

In 'Sense Likes', Cristina sings a melancholic 'cambiaría de identidad para estar contigo' (I'd change my identity to be with you), — words that reveal the furtive interactions that feed our fantasies on a daily basis. Desert creates music for a scenario that could but also could not happen. And they do it with their own sound aesthetics: different samples, expansive percussion arrangements and melodies with extravagant notes.

'Sense Wifi' rises from the first chords making it hard to define the feeling behind Cristina's words: indefinite synthetic Pop based on technological delirium. 'Sense tu' is like a therapeutic prayer for the new digital civilization using synthesizer notes, choirs and a slow pulse that drags you into meditation. 'Sense casa' never stops catching you - we recognize those bittersweet vibes and the dynamic and eclectic instrumentation take over us.

'Encara' is an illumination. Something lights up within ourselves without anyone else noticing. A desire, an idea, a revelation. The song talks about that moment. The harmonies colliding with each other show us what Desert can do: to intensify the beauty in situations we tend to ignore.

Melodic Energy Commission is a Canadian gem and an interesting branch of the Hawkwind family tree (featuring Del Delmar on electronics.) Hailing from British Columbia, their unique blend of space rock, progressive and hippie psychedelia began in 1977 as a recording-only project titled "The Melodic Energy Commission of Collected Artists."

sequence music, becoming the duo's backing
band. Fist Of Facts contributors included Mark Cunningham from Mars, Felice Rosser, Genevieve De Monvel Boutet, Carlos Vivanco, Scott Hartley from the Liquids and a whole host of others.
Fist of Facts expand the natural groove that Liquid Liquid established over their quick career, with a strong political message combined with abstract dub soundscapes.

K aka Kofe aka Coffee was one of the pioneering Russian New Wave bands in the mid 80's although they were not very known in that time. The band was founded in 1983 in Leningrad and in 1986 they released their amazing second album 'Balance', which was re-issued 5 years ago on Baran Records / Other Voices Records. Bordello A Parigi had the opportunity to release a 12 single of this album with two album tracks and additional edits by Lithuanian born KGBK who you might know from his London based Parabox radio show. After Vox Populi!'s "HALF DEAD GANJA MUSIC" and Frank Dommert's "KIEFERMUSIK", we have a hand picked compilation by the Hamburg artist MAAT. MAAT is a solo project by Dorte Marth, who created two secretly powerful and underappreciated records in 1993. They were released on two labels(Dragnet, Dom Elchklang) run by Achim P. Li Khan, the co-founder of the GREATEST BAND ON EARTH, H.N.A.S. MAAT'S musical pallette is at once, strikingly, a more dark and brooding occult version of Anima and Limpe Fuchs. One can hear classical music references much like Coil's Unnatural History, but played further, blurring the shadowy lines between sampling and virtuoso playing.
MAAT'S dark and glisteningly illustrated use of electronic drums, Pan-Asian arrangements, and classical styles, invent a private world where she uncovers and projects forth, a new and ancient female energy. Its almost as if she is orchestrating her pallette and shooting it through star-clusters beneath the world. Probably Typhonian Highlife's and 4th World Magazines greatest influence.

The electronic pioneer and founding father of synthpop, Gary Numan, celebrates his 40th anniversary as recording artist. During these 40 years, Numan's impact made itself felt; his dark, paranoid vision, theatrically icy alien persona, and clinical, robotic sound were echoed strongly in the work of many goth rock, wave and industrial artists

Wave Tension Records invited 7 contemporary dark wave, gothic and dreampop artists to honour their inspirator with an exclusive tribute. The album opens with Agent Side Grinder's nostalgic analogue rendition of 'I'm an Agent', followed by Ash Code's fresh sounding fast paced post-punk/dark wave version of 'Down In The Park'. Shad Shadows turn 'Metal' into a whispering heated darkwave track. On the last track of side A, Box & The Twins create warm and dreamy soundscapes in their version of 'Complex'. Zusammenstellung nur Titel, die heute nicht mehr ohne Weiteres (auf Vinyl) erhältlich sind und noch keine
Wiederveröffentlichung erfahren haben bzw. deren wiederveröffentlichte Tonträger inzwischen ebenfalls
Raritäten sind. Die Nummern von unter anderem Silberstreif, Träneninvasion, Pension Stammheim, New
Dimension, Hoffnung & Psyche, Nullzeit, Alu, Schwellköper oder 08/15 wurden von Tom Morgenstern neu
gemastert, wodurch eine homogene Tonqualität der insgesamt 15 Songs erreicht wurde.

Arnold Glenn Dailey arrived in Washington, DC by way of Norfolk, VA, founding his first vocal group when he was 19. From there, he learned how to play the guitar, and when 1980s DC struggled with a boom in the illegal drug trade, Dailey turned to his music as therapy -- teaching himself how to play nearly every other type of instrument. When it came time to develop his own album, 'Is This Love', he pulled from his multi-instrumentalist background and built most of the tracks by simply overdubbing himself. It's an engrossing synth-filled journey into the soul of the man who meticulously designed a foundation of love and inspiration to drown out the problems surrounding him. Anyone with an appreciation for positive energy, uplifting modern soul, or love vibes, will more than likely discover that this LP fills a hole in their heart they didn't even know was there. The title track will certainly satisfy any daytime DJ need, and 'Keep The Faith' is ready-made for late night playlists.

Lindsey Buckingham is widely considered one of the greatest guitarists, songwriters and musical expressionists of our time. A Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and 3 time GRAMMY winner, Buckingham is best known as the producer, guitarist, vocalist and chief songwriter for Fleetwood Mac and as a widely celebrated solo artist. His forthcoming album 'Solo Anthology: The Best of Lindsey Buckingham' is a comprehensive record of this illustrious career.

On October 5th, Buckingham's Solo Anthology will be released as a 3-disc set on CD and digitally and will also be available as a single disc abridged release whilst the 6LP vinyl release is slated for November 23rd.

Solo Anthology: The Best of Lindsey Buckingham includes album, live and alternate versions of some of Lindsey's most celebrated solo albums including cuts from Law and Order, Go Insane, Out of the Cradle, Under the Skin, Gift of Screws and Seeds We Sow and incorporates songs from his Collaborative album with Christine McVie released in 2017. The anthology features Buckingham's film work with 'Holiday Road' and 'Dancin Across The USA' from the 1983 motion picture soundtrack to National Lampoon's Vacation and 'Time Bomb Town' from 1985's Back to the Future. Harrisburg, Pennsylvania's Starr was once an enigmatic figure in collector's circles. 'She's So Fine' has racked up over a million plays on YouTube, but copies of the 45 and 12' version almost never surface. The known discography was surprisingly sparse for an entity who delivered such an undeniably killer track. Surely there had to be more. Was Starr a studio concoction: the work of an enterprising producer and some hired help Perhaps Starr was sent from above to bless us earthlings with sublime electro-funk grooves to keep dance floors moving

The truth is, in his own words, that 'anyone can be a Starr!' Starr got his start as a young whiz kid playing in the internationally known Chill Fac-Torr. Despite overseas chart success and a contract with Philly World, the band never made it too far. Infighting and a lack of professional discipline among the band pushed Starr out of the group, and he set out on his own.

With killer musical chops, a great voice and an unmatched creative drive, Starr set out to follow in the footsteps of a fellow musical wunderkind from Minneapolis and create his own musical universe. The problem is, life got in the way. Starr recorded night and day, flexing his writing muscles in a number of different styles, working with other Pennsylvania artists to achieve their visions. He produced some very sparsely distributed cassettes and 45s for his own imprint, but he also had a family and bills to pay. The label took a backseat and his musical career was put on ice, but his desire to create never left him.

We are proud to present the first in our series of Starr releases, the classic 'She's So Fine' 12' mix on a handy 45. Remastered from the original reels, hear it like you've never heard it before. Sure to set the dance floor ablaze.

Starr's known output consists of a single release, the hyper in-demand 'She's So Fine' single, but this is only the first light in a constellation of recordings he made in the 1980s. Being the go-to guy for collaboration in Harrisburg offered him the best local talent. A young and soulful singer, the aptly named Fawn came into Starr's life, laid down a session or two and went back to the real world. Aside from an incredibly rare cassette-only compilation appearance, this is the first time her sweet and sultry voice makes an appearance on the world stage. Backed by Starr's stellar production, these tracks are truly lost gems, ready to shine for the first time on a lovingly remastered 45 straight from the original tapes.

Optimo Music presents a 5 track EP & also a debut release from Nashville's Stranded, including a remix of title track 'Celine's Dilemma' by RSD, aka Rob Smith of Smith & Mighty fame.

Despite hailing from Nashville, Stranded has a longing appreciation for the dance centric cities throughout the world whether it be Detroit, Manchester or Berlin, hence the moniker. Alienation, romantic rendezvous, 9 to 5 unease, and an apprehension of the future are just a few of the topics that surface on the debut EP, Celine's Dilemma, on Optimo Music. Sweeping and droning synths, jagged guitars, rolling bass, yearning and weary vocals, and disco beats propel the music and ideas showcased in the project. While using the backdrop of post punk, disco, and synth pop the music is a sonar call to places where people are gathering, working, and dancing.

Vercetti Technicolor's ficticious soundtrack to the 1972 Munich Massacre, is a bleak, cold and somber work. Partly inspired by the 1999 Documentary by Kevin Macdonald, Vercetti creates a tense and brooding approach to this, the most darkest of subject matter. This is far from dancefloor material, this is doom-electronics at it's most frightening. Take Me With You is a revelatory voyage through the captivating universe of voice artist and poet MJ Lallo. The works on this 2LP compilation were all recorded in her home studio between 1982 and 1997, primarily using drum computer, synth and her own voice processed through a Yamaha SPX 90 digital effects unit. They range from wordless harmonizer mantras and primitive drum computer meditations, to psychedelic latin dance-floor anthems and synth-drenched end-of-the-nighters. Lallo has created her own inimitable galaxy of sound where the human voice, liberated from the constraints of language and abstracted using digital technology, is able to explore the outer realms of human expression, like Joan La Barbara with an Eventide and a new-age sensibility. Although Lallo's flight path is distinctly her own, her journey converges with other travellers as diverse as Jon Hassell, Laraaji, Stereolab, William Aura, Laurie Anderson, Meredith Monk, Gertrude Stein and even Terry Gilliam (whose film Brazil was a big influence on Lallo). Like something beamed in from another planet, Lallo's work is both fascinatingly strange and strangely familiar, and will leave a lasting impression for lightyears to come. ArchiPOP is a series of curated selections from the Beatservice Records archives. Songs that have been on single/EP releases or standout tracks on albums are put together in a new and well-selected environment by label boss Vidar Hanssen. The artwork following these compilations are mirrored and manipulated architectural images from Tromsø, Norway, the hometown of Beatservice Records. The pictures are taken by German born, now Tromsø resident architect and photographer Kristina Schröder. Many of her pictures show familiar architecture in new and unusual perspectives.

EchoDroides is a collaboration between Chicago natives Frank De La Mora & Miguel Martin. Their sound can be described as a trip through space with analog synthesizers and drum machines.
They came together in 2011 first working on remixes then shortly after decided to work on original material. Their music has been featured in TV shows, movies, promotional videos from Peugeot, fashion labels and the Ubisoft video game, Watch Dogs. For this special and limited release they re-created a track from 80s US studio project, Experimental Products, - paying tribute to "Glowing In The Dark" original and an instrumental.

Experimental Products has always been a massive influence on us from the very 1st time we heard them back in the 80s. Glowing in the Dark, in particular changed everything for us. Mark Wilde and Michael Gross were way ahead of their time. We wanted to pay tribute to them by re-creating this song from scratch.

The spanish act WIND ATLAS have recently shacked and surprised the darkwave scene with their third studio album 'AN EDIBLE BODY LP' (BFE / HIDDEN TRACK RECORDS 2018). Inside this majestic album it was included 'EN LA CRUZ', an stunning industrial minimal compostion with their usual amazing, etheral and carnal folk vocals. ORACULO RECORDS proudly presents the 12 version of that jewel, including the original remastered version (for a maximized vinyl audio experience) plus 3 dance floor remixes by SYNTHS VERSUS ME, UNDO and BLIND DELON. It arrives presented on 12 EP format and produced in a ONE-OFF truly limited edition of 300 copies lacquered pressed on 180 gr. high quality solid black vinyl. Focusing on low-slung IDM, Acid and atmospheric Electro with nods to Krautrock & Ambient sounds, Steve Hyland's ATTRAKTTA project gets an extended outing on the FILM label. Across eight beautifully produced tracks, Hyland - one of the founding members of AI Records and subsequently Concrete Plastic, explores vibrant synthesis and intricate drum programming, with the music arriving at a sweet spot between home listening material & club-ready workouts for more intelligent dance floors.

Eschewing straightforward synth sequences in favour of blissed out - almost disharmonious sonics, Hyland transmits a curious psychedelia on his debut LP. Sounds pitch and warp organically, buoyed up by saturated low end and punchy drum machine percussion. There remains a decidedly accomplished precision to the work, though - with the music bearing all the hallmarks of an artist of some considerable experience - testament to the British producer & label head's 19 years working in the industry.

CDs. The fourth LP in this set features the very best remixes, carefully selected and compiled, and approved by Simply

It pleases me no end to introduce this genuinely brilliant compilation to you courtesy of new French label ERR REC. It's an evocative, funky, charming and hugely satisfying listen that takes in various moods and genres all lovingly produced on vintage gear by 9 musicians from the French indie scene under different pseudonyms. It's my guess that only hardcore Francophiles are likely to be aware of (m)any of them but regardless of that if you're a fan of synths, soundtracks & library music this could well be up there with your albums of the year.

Alas, for now, this LP is limited to the ludicrously low amount of 50 copies so we won't have any of them for very long. Also the price of this edition is reflected in the risograph machine-printed sleeve, making it very collectable. Listen and love...

INIT's music has the rare quality of transforming bleakness into a soothing experience. In the duo's new EP, 'Wildcard', this mechanism is more intense than ever. And that might be because of the particular circumstances that surrounded its inception. Two years ago, Nadia D'Alo and Benedikt Frey decided to move from Darmstadt to Berlin. Adjusting to a rough area of a big city when coming from a quiet town necessarily brings a change of perspective. For Nadia and Benedikt, that meant experiencing the city life as outsiders while trying to figure out what they wanted from it.'Wildcard' is the sonic result of this process, and proof that changes always bring growth. Recorded in their new home studio during winter, the six tracks on the EP are as haunting as their previous LP for Hivern, but with a rawer approach and enhanced power. Take 'Cover' and 'Solver', an approximation to the kind of moody psych-techno they display in their live-shows and two of the most dance floor oriented tracks INIT have recorded to date. But it's the title track which best expresses the mindset of this work. With its skeletal rattle and undulating synths, 'Wildcard' feels as desolate as a Berlin street in a winter night, but possesses the kind of focus that turns uncertainty into hope. In a similar way, cuts such as 'Copycat' or 'Half Baked' perfectly capture the sort of estrangement -daunting yet hopeful- that comes when moving into a new place, with its slow tempos mirroring the cautious pace of a foreigner and the intoxicated atmospheres calmly distilling the essence of a new environment. Nadia and Benedikt describe this new habitat as small kids on big bikes, eating dry instant noodles, playing with what's to find on the streets, static aircraft traffic closely over our heads and constant running engines. Listening to the music that arose from it, it's obvious that, once again, they've been able to overturn apparently hostile elements into a place were you'd want to stay forever. The 12" comes housed in a sleeve designed by Xavier Marin.
