Following on from the worldwide success of 2014's Annabelle, which frightened the worldwide box office to a gross of $257m comes another chilling story of the possessed doll causing sinister havoc once more. Composer Benjamin Wallfisch is recognised as one of the leading lights of his generation, working with film-makers of the calibre of Steven Spielberg, Rupert Wyatt, Gore Verbinksi and Lars von Trier. He has been a Golden Globe, Emmy and Ivor nominee. In a career spanning over a decade and 60 feature films, his recent credits include Hidden Figures, A Cure For Wellness and Bitter Harvest. A regular collaborator with Hans Zimmer he features on the soundtrack to Dunkirk, highlighted by his evocative arrangement on Elgar's Nimrod titled Variation 15 (Dunkirk). His next project is the long awaited big screen version of Stephen King's It.

A pioneer in the field of electronic music, Tristram Cary served as a wartime naval officer specialising in radar and electronics. He combined a career at the cutting edge of experimental music with works for cinema (The Ladykillers), television and radio. The Daleks made their debut in Doctor Who just before Christmas 1963 and Cary's music was composed to script as several atmospheric pieces for specific scenes and situations. These were then played live into the studio recording, alongside effects tracks. This release of the soundtrack expands on a previous issue and includes music from all seven episodes plus unreleased material and extended cues.

Prolific composer Dominic Glynn is closely associated with the 1980s era of Doctor Who. A major creator of production music, his work can also be heard in hundreds of film and TV productions worldwide as diverse as The Simpsons, Red Dwarf and Dead Like Me. Transmitted in late 1989, Survival marked the end of an era for Doctor Who, the final series from a continuous 26 year run. A few tracks from Survival' appeared on the Doctor Who 50 compilation (released on Silva Screen in 2014) but the rest are all previously unreleased.

The vibrant soundtrack composed by the great Ennio Morricone for the 1970 fetishistic and dark Italian thriller Le Foto Proibite di Una Signora Perbene influenced by the works of bossa-nova artist Antonio Carlos Jobim and featuring the unequalled and unsurpassed voice of soprano Edda Dell'Orso.

The Maestro Morricone's Mediterranean sounds for the cult movie Il Prefetto di Ferro' are sometimes warm, sometimes hard and sharp. With this score we can easily understand how much the legendary Italian composer know about Sicilian folk music, the wonderful ballad La Ballata del Prefetto Mori' is magistrally interpreted by one of the most important voices of Sicilian folk music: the legendary Rosa Balistreri.

Over the 90-year history of sound film, there have been a handful of instances where a director and a composer have formed a longtime partnership that resulted in a series of classical scores, creating music that stands the test of time. None, however, have been as long or as fruitful as the 43-year collaboration of Steven Spielberg and John Williams. Loving Vincent is the upcoming biographical animated film from newcomer directors Dorota Kobiela and Hugh Welchman. The movie follows Armand Roulin (Douglas Booth), the son of an acquaintance of Vincent Van Gogh, as he attempts to deliver a letter from the painter following van Gogh's death.
A film unlike any other, Loving Vincent is entirely hand painted - each of the movie's 65,000 frames is an oil painting on a canvas created using the same techniques as Vincent van Gogh. The film will be released worldwide from early October this year.

Fargo is a multiple award winning black comedy-crime drama anthology television series created and written by Noah Hawley. The show is inspired by the 1996 film written and directed by the Coen brothers, who serve as executive producers on the series alongside Hawley.

It follows the lives of a couple who become involved in a double murder case. Thanks in part to a memorable dual performance from Ewan McGregor, Fargo Year 3 maintains the sly wit and off-kilter sensibility it displayed in its first
two seasons.

There are few shows that use music better than the haunting score of Fargo, written by Jeff Russo. He has become a prominent composer, songwriter and arranger in the film
and television industry. About his work on the series,

Krzysztof Komeda's eerie and haunting score for this classic is presented here in a striking picture cover with six exceptional tracks including the opening Lullaby sung by the film's star, Mia Farrow.

This new soundtrack album features 13 original compositions by the acclaimed experimental composer Ben Frost, creator of the critically-lauded studio albums by The Throat (2009) and Aurora (204), as well as music for the film Sleeping Beauty and 2015 British television series Fortitude. For this release the artist creates vivid minimalist textures that capture the drama of the compelling new film Super Dark Times. When Kevin Phillips approached me to write music for his film it resonated immediately. As a composer, the thing that perhaps excited me the most is that Super Dark Times, is in many ways of a period drama, and that within that idea there was a largely untapped world of sound to explore. Whilst the sound of the '80s has long since moved into the realm of retro, 1995 still feels uncomfortably close. CD Walkmans, digital delays, Boss Metal Zone distortion pedals, Intel Pentium chips, and Peavey practice amps inadvertently defined the music of the period (and my teenage years), and it was from that world of technology and my own memories of the confusion, the anxiety, the black hair dye the music for Super Dark Times was born.' - Ben Frost

This novelty album, released in 1966 during the height of the Batman & Robin craze, was initially credited to the "The Sensational Guitars of Dan and Dale" and featured an album full of tracks based on the popular TV show like "The Batman Theme Song", "The Penguin Chase", and "The Batcave". The album is entirely instrumental, except for someone singing "Batmaaaan!" in the theme song. But the interesting thing about this album, and what makes it an absolute cult gem, are the musicians who are behind it all: basically a joint collaboration between Sun Ra's Arkestra and Danny Kalb's Blues Project (one of the first psychedelic rock bands as well as one of the world's first jam bands). "Dan and Dale" were actually blues guitarist Danny Kalb and Steve Katz (later of Blood, Sweat & Tears) on dueling guitars, while Sun Ra and Al Kooper take over organ duties (a Hammond B-3) and members of Ra's Arkestra play sax.

Basil Kirchin was a unique talent. A man brought up as a drummer in the post war big band era, he soon shunned the sounds of London ballrooms for world travel, marijuana and spiritual enlightenment. On his return to London in the mid 1960s he started work on experimental sound picture music', a direction that led him into horror film music, library music and eventually to field recordings. He then developed the idea of slowing down the sounds of bird, insects, animals, autistic children - anything he recorded in fact - to reveal the hidden particles of sound that made them up. Mixing this with free jazz improvisation in 1969 he developed a new, peculiar sound that we now know as ambient'. Here, in this unique Trunk Record's sampler, we offer a fascinating musical glimpse into his world, bringing together work from three decades, PLUS parts of a long conversation between Jonny Trunk and Basil Kirchin recorded a few months before he died. There is unreleased film music, field recordings including autistic children from Schurmatt, music for advertising, the opening of Quantum', brilliant mixes of jazz and birds ( Charcoal Sketches'), the newly discovered digital post punk classic Silicon Chip' plus brilliant and moving homages to his life with Esther, his wife. Kicking off the post-Summer release flurry on Polytechnic Youth is the magnificent second full length from Brooklyn-based FATEN KANAAN Pleiade Hex 6'.
Since releasing her debut last year, (the fabulously received and super quick-selling The Botanist & The Archaeologist'), Faten's star has shone brightly and earlier this year she collaborated on the killer The Darkest Wave' 45 w/ Pye Corner Audio (which sold through three pressings and is mooted as one of 2017's best singles).
The new album builds on this momentum, and comprises, in Faten's own words: Several -mostly instrumental- 'suites' that are narrative in nature. Cyclical patterns are central to the compositions: exploring harmony and counterpoint as they ebb & are reincarnated, and the perpetual return to the heart/core.
Through the circling patterns, the album honours the return to the youthful spirit: of embracing naive romanticism, gut feelings, and strength of vision. Loosely inspired by medieval canons/rounds and Baroque structures, the album hovers between ambient electronic experimentations and semi-classical traditions.

Relying mostly on a single analogue synthesizer, each section either sets a scene or plays a character - whether it's dancing across a stage, running through a forest, emerging from underwater, or languidly drifting through portals'.

A wonderful record, sure to sell out real quick. It is released this September on vinyl only by Polytechnic Youth.

The second of September's wonderful brace of new Polytechnic Youth LPs, sees the debut for Morgane Lhote's first solo outing (since her Stereolab days), with her ace new project HOLOGRAM TEEN.

11 killer -often whacked out- tracks inspired by a multitude of key figures from varying genres, the soundtracks of Goblin and John Carpenter, 1970s French Disco and psychedelic Brazilian rock, Congolese Soukous, and the string arrangements of François de Roubaix and Jean-Claude Vannier.

As Morgane herself says with this first LP, I wanted to create the soundtrack to the trippiest horror movie ever, and combine the scary and the absurd, through a very tongue in cheek aesthetic both musically and visually. For this project, I decided to experiment with adding live instruments, such as bass, drums, and strings, instead of or in conjunction with electronic instruments on some tracks. It was especially interesting to merge both musical feels and textures into one cohesive narrative.

I also had a strong sense of what the music should look like' as shown on the LP's cover design: Disco Démon was always going to be the main protagonist in a mish-mash of Jean-Claude Forest's comics meets neon loudness meets the movie poster to 'The Warriors' and 'Le frisson des vampires''.

A very filmic, hugely adventurous full length- perhaps a slight departure from previous output on PY, but all the better for it we feel at PY HQ, and with titles like Roller Lover Doppelganger', Tracksuit Minotaur' and Lesbian Death Drums' what's not to like!

War for the Planet of the Apes is a 2017 American science fiction film directed by Matt Reeves and written by Mark Bomback and Reeves. A sequel to Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011) and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014), it is the third installment in the Planet of the Apes reboot series. The film stars Andy Serkis, Woody Harrelson and Steve Zahn, and follows the confrontation between the apes, led by Caesar, and the humans for control of Earth.

A superb soundtrack composed for the Francesco Rosi's film Cadaveri Eccellenti' based on the novel Il Trattato' by Leonardo Sciascia. A portrait of Italy during the infamous Years of Lead (Anni di Piombo), Cadaveri Eccellenti presented in 1976 at the Cannes Film Festival caused an outcry for the inconvenient issues addressed. Jazz and funky tunes are mixed here with a big orchestra-style peculiar of the best composition by the maestro Piero Piccioni, this album is an enjoyable journey into dark and light atmospheres.

Longtime Hollywood music director for Warner Bros, Raymond Ray' Heindorf is one of the most important and prolific American film score composers, his career brought him eighteen Academy Award nominations and three Oscars. Based on Ernest Hemingway's masterpiece, For Whom the Bell Tolls is the 1958 recording of Victor Young's score for the same film that came out in 1942. The vibrant, dramatic emotionalism of Hemingway's novel is revealed with immense impact in Heindorf's interpretation. The sound of the bell tolling, the violent crescendo of the violins, the deafening roar of war in all its turbulence is a thrilling musical experience, one that does not easily escape the listener.

Originally released in the arcades in 1988, but quickly ported over to SEGA's new Mega Drive console, where it entered countless homes as a pack-in game, Altered Beast remains memorable for many things over its gameplay, not least its soundtrack. Composed by Tohru Master' Nakabayashi, the music of Altered Beast moves between intense battle themes and cavernous dirges, the perfect backdrop to traversing the netherworld, punching pigs and powering up.

Sourced from a Japanese Mega Drive and carefully mastered for vinyl, Altered Beast is presented as a 45RPM cut LP in a 400g matt varnished sleeve and printed inner sleeve, both of which feature hand-painted artwork from the SEGA archives. Also included is a foldout poster of the original painting used for the game's box art.

Edgar Wright's sophomore film turns 10 years old this year, and we are honored to continue our celebration of his iconic film trilogy with the premiere release of David Arnold's score to HOT FUZZ.

Never before released in its entirety, David Arnold's score for HOT FUZZ plays it straight. The world of Nicholas Angel (Simon Pegg) and Danny Butterman (Nick Frost) is filled with stylized shoot-outs, colorful characters, and rapidfire comedic beats, the music of HOT FUZZ takes the sincere approach. It brings the heroes (and their many, many villains) into the action films that eventually crash headfirst into the peaceful idyllic village of Sandford.

The title track, 'Theme from Hot Fuzz,' feels like a retro futurist version of a '60s cop show - all urgent beats and huge orchestral flourishes that make you feel like you are in the action. 'The Hot Fuzz Suite (Hotter and Fuzzier)' is 23 minutes of utterly spellbinding music which travels the path from beautiful Spanish guitar flourishes to Arnold's signature orchestral techno stylings. David Arnold went back to the master tapes for us on this and pieced the entire soundtrack together, both David and Edgar were involved in the approvals.

Produced by the legendary Gerry and Sylvia Anderson, the feature was constructed out of three episodes of the revered SPACE: 1999 television show to introduce Italian audiences to Commander Koenig and his crew, and thrilled audiences with nuclear explosions, parallel universes, and space opera thrills, all coming out of Moonbase Alpha. While the Italian show still featured the brassy sound of Barry Gray, legendary maestro Morricone was employed to bring a decidedly different feel to the theatrical film. From the opening the score launches into wild space jazz with piano and trumpet interspersed with all kinds of noise before it descends into a creepier vibe. Morricone uses unsettling violins and atonal music together with electronics to simulate the void of space and the danger faced by the intrepid heroes, and what emerges is a mix of sci-fi and horror that will not only thrill you, but also scare the living daylights out of you. La notte e il momento (The Night and the Moment) is a 1995 British-French-Italian erotic drama film co-written and directed by Anna Maria Tatò and starring Willem Dafoe, Lena Olin and Miranda Richardson. It was screened out of competition at the
51st Venice International Film Festival.

A writer (Dafoe) is invited to the house of a noblewoman (Olin) who adores free- thinkers. He attempts to seduce her but she insists that he tell her of his past love exploits. While doing so, he takes her through his time in prison where he was unknowingly incarcerated in the cell beside hers.

The movie was nominated for a Nastro d'Argento, an Italian Movie Award.
