At the latest since groundbreaking releases on labels like Music Man and R&S Belgian techno stands for intense and atmospheric tunes which have that certain something that touches the listeners and dancers.

And without any doubt Michael Forzza and Dimitri Andreas have helped to shape this style and vibe, amongst others with releasing „Kahana“ in 2005.

Marc Romboy has always been a big fan of this tune so that it was a matter of time to plan a re-release including the original mix in a remastered way and three new versions which are more than audiolicious!

Barcelona´s specialists for ethereal techno, Fur Coat, come around with an extremely respect version which brings that certain early 90s dream techno vibe a la „The Age Of Love“ together with their typical contemporary and atmospheric sound.

Music Man´s finest Petar Dundov adds his best known sound signature to the tune while Forzza and Andrweas themselves master the impossible, as they transform the tune into a modern frame although keeping the original vibe.

New listeners and gourmets reminiscing about the good old times, noone will be disappointed at all!

MARC ROMBOY returns to our KOMPAKT EXTRA series with STALKER / BEYOND.

Since we last saw him in 2018 on SPEICHER 103, Marc has kept plenty busy with a release on Bedrock, a collaboration with Stephan Bodzin, plus a series of releases with Petar Dundov on his own Systematic Recordings. Beyond Marc’s rigorous DJ touring schedule, he performed live in a Planetarium and ended the year with a highlight, performing live at Philharmonie Cologne together with violinist Miki Kekenj and the Takeover! Ensemble.

Marc appears to be looking back to the deep, twisted forms of techno that shaped his early years with this double header. STALKER clearly delivers a typical Detroit-ish 90’s grittiness and drive which resounded the dancefloors of the German rave scene of that era.

BEYOND is a deeper cut for those late-night dreamers who are into the sound of Carpenter. A growling synth and laser light synth mingle relentlessly until a delicate piano quickly realizes that IT’S THE place.

Fort Romeau returns to Permanent Vacation following his “Fantasia” EP earlier this year with three more psychedelic dance floor explorations on “The Mirror“.

Patrick Richard's debut LP "Transgression" sums up his musical output so far: Deep, emotional and intelligent techno. It is a coherent, yet rich and diverse LP: full of dirty samples, cinematic sowker edge to them. The Blade Runner tinted "Escape", for example, takes you on a sonic journey through misty dystopian wastelands, while "The Abyss" dives deep below, with dusky chords, psychedelic Arp-leads and skitzo riffs accompanying the listener on the descent. On the more upbeat side you have "B Ortz' Edit", a slightly breakbeat flavoured stomper with warehousey stabs, or "Flare Gun" a Detroit-oozing killer, with epic strings on top of a pumping broken groove, guaranteed to get the crowd moving. The LP also contains more tranquil moments such as "Shelter", and subtle deep techno, such as the foggy "Searchlights". Comprising dirty basement house, dark dubby techno, flirts with broken beat, ambient serenity, as well as more experimental ingredients, Transgression is indeed a diverse and generous debut.

Watergate favourites Frankey & Sandrino make a timely debut on the club’s imprint, with a classy remix by Tiefschwarz in toe.

If you’ve found yourself at the Oberbaumbrücke institution on a Thursday in recent years, chances are Frankey & Sandrino were responsible for the soundtrack. The pair of Sandrino Tittel and Frank Beckers have captained the Thursdate residency since 2018, serving up a beguiling blend of deep grooves and twinkling chords progressions.

The four-track ‘Nova’ EP is the embodiment of this immersive sonic palette. ‘Chimes’ is built around a strong melodic lead that rises and falls throughout the lustrous seven-minute cut, as lilting pads and delicate drums patterns complete the work. The title track follows on, a delicious exploration into the deep, as subtle acid lines rub shoulders with meandering synths to build a masterful snake-like groove.

Tiefschwarz’s remix of ‘Chimes’ brings heat to the package as the original is imbued with a muscular percussive heartbeat. ‘Black Hole’ is a sweeping composition made for the after-hours as a searing lowend synth is juxtaposed with an effervescent melody line to create an atmosphere-heavy finale.

Unless you're too young to know or have been living under a rock
for the past twenty years, there's little chance that you haven't
come across Marc Romboy's music in one way or another. The
Systematic Recordings boss has had many irons on the fire
since establishing his first imprint, the now defunct Le Petit
Prince - gathering an untold number of releases on labels as
diverse as Ovum, Innervisions, Rebirth or 20:20 Vision in his two
decades of intense activity. Tracing back to 1994, when he used
to rummage through the crates of Delirium - the primitive
incarnation of KOMPAKT (closed and revived under its new
name in 1998), the friendship between Romboy and the
KOMPAKT family has largely withstood the test of time. After
losing touch for a few years, Romboy and Michael Mayer would
resume contact during a festival in the south of France - a
reunion that eventually led to Systematic joining Kompakt's
distribution catalogue a couple months later.

With such a longstanding complicity to build from, it was about
time for the Rheinland natives to actually team up on a release
from start to finish, and SPEICHER 103 is their inaugural act of
faith. A cosmic storm in a teacup, the A-side opener 'Galaxy In
An Atom' blows some furious stellar winds across a shape-
shifting tide of loud kicks and mutant bass moves, beating
across uneven arpeggiated synth reliefs through thick and thin.
Then, the chaos makes way for emotive piano stabs to take over
in the track's last third, gracefully gliding into a further
appeasing compass. Following up pedal to the metal, the
pulsating 'Elektrisiermaschine' makes for a proper peak time
ball of fire. Built upon a rolling and pitching bass comber, the
track sets its pistons and rods in dancing motion straightaway,
tightening the bolts bar after bar as it expands its abraded
melodic lines and batucada-like rhythms with amplified
magnitude for over seven minutes of sustained mind-bending
onslaughts.

This is already EP number three of these two techno heavy weights from Zagreb and Germany, Petar Dundov and Marc Romboy.

After „Caper Tran“ and „Dimension D“ it´s time again for real techno music:

„Upiter“ shows us how musically the Croatian-German friendship team is able to create dark and deep tech tunes. The warm and catchy arpeggio combined with a shuffling 808 groove takes us to a journey of spacy and trippy speres.

„Ex machina“ is forward thinking techno music however with the spirit as it was made in the 90s when the machines were the masters of the music and ruled the structure of the song. The track surprises with unexpected turning points and moving sound synthesis.

Finally Gorge delivers his first 8bit release this year with the brandnew 'Rai' and a 2020 update of his classic 'Erotic Soul' plus new versions from the winners of our remix contest: Crimsen, Sensoreal and Hazner. Great work!

It's no big secret: The elements of trance music have always played a vital part in the music of Prins Thomas. In fact, there are scholars who argue that these stylistic attributes were the ramp that shot his disco into space. But let's not pour hot coffee onto the cold one. When the king they call Prins sent a loose bunch of tracks to Gerd Janson to get some sort of feedback, it was like an epiphany: the calling for the missing link between "Logic Trance" compilations of yesteryear and the honey for the strobe light bees of today has finally been answered. Naturally, it's not all ice cannons and glow sticks, endorphins and euphoria. The private and poetic Prins stands just one step behind the sweaty one - in alphanumeric track list order. If there has ever been something like thinking-(wo)mans-trance, this is the album for it.

Sintope bosses NTFO return to Bondage Music this May to deliver a combination of digital and vinyl only productions in the form of their 'Esperantza' EP.
Following an impressive break through year in 2009, Romanian duo Dani and Robert aka NTFO have since gone on to carve out an impressive resume within the world of house, with a series of releases on 20/20 Vision, Objektivity, Diynamic and Jargon making up a notable back catalogue. Owners of their own Sintope imprint, releasing material from themselves alongside the likes of revered Parisian Djebali and fellow Romanian Rhadow, the duo have garnered stand out support from Ryan Crosson, Cinthie, Vinyl Speed Adjust and Arapu to name just a few, and having recently featured on the labels 'Bondage Games' compilation in January, here we see the duo deliver a fresh four track EP that's set to become a favourite of many in the months ahead.

Title cut 'Esperantza' sees the duo go to work, fusing rolling, crisp percussion with rich sub-bass, before 'Uppercut' interjects, unveiling a production packed full of swing, reinforced by robust drum licks, skipping hats and sweeping synths.
On the flip, the first vinyl only cut 'Lux' reveals a smooth, stripped back effort, with lush, deep pads floating effortlessly over hazy background textures, whilst the electro influenced 'Avoid' closing things out in fine fashion, as trickling lead lines flow amongst and intricate organic percussion patterns across seven minutes.

Theo Kottis’s celebrated ‘Turning Around’ and ‘Clear’ get a joint 12” vinyl release on 24 April on Skint Records, alongside the Gerd Janson remix of ‘Turning Around’ and an exclusive remix of ‘Clear’ by Hubie Davison.

‘Turning Around’ was one of 2019’s stand-out tracks, receiving top reviews, Annie Mac’s ‘Hottest Record in the World’, and played widely at festivals. One of the main supporters was Running Back label boss and “the DJ’s DJ” Gerd Janson who gives the uplifting disco workout a high-octane sheen, with a cascade of shimmering
beats and a poignant, powerful refrain.

On the B-Side is ‘Clear’, born out of a sample clearance issue which inspired TheoKottis to write an original piece of music that was ‘clear’ of samples. The end result is an exciting fusion of Italo disco and ‘80s synth-pop, complete with a euphoric vocal.

Exclusive to the vinyl release, acclaimed Irish-born and now London-based producer Hubie Davison delivers a deeper and tougher reworking, which is perfect for peak-time dance-floors. In Hubie’s words: There’s nothing better than being given a load of quality source material and license to have fun with it, and that’s exactly what happened here. I’ve been following Theo for a while now, so it was a joy to open the hood on ‘Clear’ and have a go at it. Having Gerd Janson on the other side makes it even better. Hopefully people enjoy these mixes as much as I do.”

Almost 10 years already….Just a short moment away from its tenth anniversary, the cutting-edge Label La Belle Records unveils the second part of its One Night Stands collection.

If the first part portrayed very warm, tropical tones, this second opus feels more like the end of a party or the morning after, with a selection of tracks at a crossroad between slo-mo, synth-pop, lo-fi, ethnic groove and nu-disco like few others have done before.

This is something you've never heard before! All thanks to the insatiable digging from the master curator and co-founder of the label, Antoine Harispuru aka Golden Bug.

From Rome to Bruxelles via Paris and Vilnius, this second edition hits hard with names like Get A Room!, Rodion, Ellis Island (a world collaboration between the Italians Bawrut and Hot Spell), Rodion, Front de Cadeaux, Claap! and some other electronic gems.

Martin Enke returns to his most enduring alias Lake People with a very special project… Building on the spotless reputation he’s developed on the likes of Mule Musiq, Uncanny Valley and Permanent Vacation; Lake People has launched his own label: Remote Scope.

Multi-talent Joyce Muniz is definitely one to look out for. Initially starting her career as a vocalist, she now took over the global house music scene within no time as a deejay and producer as
well. Exhibiting her talent with previous releases, it's not surprising that she's on the roster of prestigous labels such as Exploited Records and 20/20 Vision Recordings.

Next year she will
release her single "Toxic People" on International Deejay Gigolo Records featuring the singer, songwriter and producer Demetr1us. "Toxic People" is a vibrant and raw sounding electro house cut featuring grimy synths and vocals, that lend the track a cold and distant atmosphere.

The artwork for "Toxic People" was created by Leipzig-based artist Silvia Trost, whose forth lies in oil and acrylic paintings. She now frequently collaborates with glitch art artists and loves to mix
materials and techniques, both analogue and digital.

The B-side "Dreamz" is another great production by Joyce Muniz. The playful groove and eclectic ambient makes it a cool package.

Alex Smoke's album, Love over Will, signalled a new phase of deep artistry for the stalwart Scottish producer. Mano Le Tough's remix of 'Dust' holds on these buzzing elements of micro machinery, yet strips away the original version's atmospherics. 'Fall Out' was ominous and string-laden in its original form, which was then coaxed into a throbbing, reverb-heavy offering at the hands of Tale of Us and gets a precision edit by Dixon.

Five years on from the quartet of special records which marked Innervisions’ 50th release, the Berlin label is closing out the 2010s with a triptych of talent, for IV90. The three separate EPs which make up release #IV90 feature the sonic narratives of Bruno Deodato alias Trikk, the return of “Karma Baby” hitmaker Jimi Jules, and Copenhagen’s Denis Horvat matriculating from ​Secret Weapons alumna to standalone debut.

Die Orangen (aka Dreems & Kris Baha) are back on Malka Tuti with the 2nd installment of their Saft series, containing fresh music, remixes, reworks and more... Friends with benefits: andhim follow up their exceptional ‘Duno’ EP with another Superfriends excursion. This time we’re heading west to the heart of South America as the German duo pay homage to the Argentinian capital with ‘Buenos’ and ‘Aires’… And more.

‘Buenos’ takes the lead with a dynamically layered percussive odyssey laced with a dizzying array of pipes and chimes that weave in and out of each other majestically and hypnotically while ‘Aires’ takes the same pattern but weaves a whole other narrative layer with Latin pianos and heavier percussive work. Jannowitz Records' label boss Lars aka BOHO is busy this year. Never in the world would he have thought that after an amazing 2018, the pace he had been going could actually accelerate. But 2019 is already a huge success.

Gigs in many parts of the world and more than huge releases are in the pipeline at the legendary Octopus & Yoshitoshi Recordings. On top of that: constant charting with Jannowitz releases !

This is why BOHO thought now would be the perfect time to release a banger EP he had been working on for several months. As always, BOHO sat down with some friends and produced three peak time hits - just in time for festival season.

Number 1 is beloved Heerhorst who has many releases in his catalogue on prestigious labels such as Octopus, Tronic or Stil vor Talent. He impressed the whole crew at the JAW headquarter with his sound and qualified immediately for working on the main track “Pinkfinger” - a powerful techno track with distorted synths pushing down on you. And there's something to look forward to: You will be hearing more from Heerhorst who joins the family as main artist.

BOHO and Xenia Beliyeva's collaboration “Violet” is something for the groovy dancefloor shaker. Its monotonous vocals sung by the Russian electro goddess fit perfectly to BOHO's bumpy techno side. Because is not only a stellar DJ, but also a great singer. Give it a listen!

Another Jannowitz Records favourite rounds off the three original tracks: Vazik is back. The Mexican power producer has done a lot for the success of our label - and we're more than thankful for that. He finds his way back to the label with a straightforward techno belter “Human”: “You are human. You will die. I will not.” - These super dark robotic vocals will spiral through your head and lead you to a powerful drop that won't be easily forgotten.

Russia, Mexico, Germany - as always a very colourful mix of superstars. But beware of the Italian powerhouse Christian Bonori who joined in to the party and made his very own version of BOHO x Heerhorst's “Pinkfinger”. Just as with Mr. Heerhorst himself, you will be hearing more from Christian Bonori as well. If you haven't checked out his work: do it. We're convinced!

To celebrate Steyoyoke's 7th Anniversary, we are releasing a 4 track EP - Anniversary 07 - in both digital and vinyl editions. A small showcase of some of Steyoyoke's best original cuts, this short release exists in the space between traditional and Steyoyoke's trademark Ethereal Techno, highlighting the talents of select artists on the roster.

The release begins with the mysterious and refined 'Cadence' by Soul Button. A strong, consistent baseline is paired with with echoing details that dance from the mid to higher layers, making this an enchanting introduction. Nick Devon follows on perfectly with his diverse track, 'The Moon'. Beginning with the same soothing echoes, he introduces layers that transform the track from a soothing melancholy to a compelling mix with a distinct harder energy. Clawz SG's track 'Alchemy' then brings a sharpness to the EP with a diverse range of percussive and synth elements that dip in and out, giving the track a dynamic quality. It is a track that maintains the listener's attention and could fit in on any techno floor. The EP is brought to a conclusion with a stunning mix from Dahu & JOBE, 'Inert', which set itself apart from the get-go with a mix of eclectic percussion and dynamic bass. Not afraid to experiment, it shows impeccable attention to detail as themes are introduced, pulled back, reworked, and re-introduced constantly throughout, giving a listener more with every replay.

This EP showcases some of the most dynamic points of Steyoyoke's past year, showing the ways in which Ethereal Techno can mold and adapt to always stay ahead of the curve.

microcastle begins 2020 by welcoming Cornucopia back to the label for a new EP. The mysterious artist makes a much-anticipated follow-up to the July 2018 release ‘Forever Gone’. The three-track offering saw a wide spectrum of play and support from some of the underground’s top tastemakers in Adam Port, Ame, Baikal, Dixon, Frankey & Sandrino, Guy J, Jimi Jools, Laurent Garnier, Luca Bacchetti, Patrice Baumel and Solomun. With a release on Multinotes to highlight 2019, Cornucopia now lands back on microcastle with ‘River of Memories’ to begin the new year.

Elusive and organic in equal measure, the transcendent nature of Cornucopia has the rare ability to unite a cross section of music lovers. The romantic sounds of ‘River of Memories’ sits as perhaps the most apt illustration, invoking a rare combination of hope, heartache, reflection and meditation across it’s eleven-minute storyboard. Modern life is a crazy jigsaw of emotions, judgements and decisions. There are times where nothing seems to be going right for you in spite of the careful choices you make and you lose focus with what’s really, truly important. From the vantage point of your 9 to 5 hamster wheel, you deep dive into the minutiae of your days, frantically trying to find the common thread you feel you lost along the way, and yet, despite this, those fraying strands of normalcy evade you. They’re just out of reach. You need the music to make you whole again. To feel. To live. The music is the thread you couldn’t reach until you closed your eyes and just believed. Because as soon as you did, those paradigms realigned and the world was warm. And real.

Multi-talented musician and artist Namito has remained an important gure in the very fabric of Berlin's Melodic House & Techno scene, right since its humble beginnings. 

His autobiographical concept album Letting Go' charts the story of his early years, when he was forced to ee his native homeland Iran, as a 13 year old boy and plots the struggle of him coming to terms with growing up as a young refugee, on his own in West Berlin. 

Letting Go reveals his most pivotal moments between 1985 to 1993: the East-West conict, the fall of the Wall, his entry into a Bhagwan-Commune and his decision to drop out of school for music.

Tom Demac is no stranger to us, with well-played releases on Hypercolour, Electronique Audio and Glasstable, we were happy to offer him a home with Kompakt in 2018 thanks to a collaboration with Real Lies titled 'White Flowers'. Tom returns to Kompakt, this time solo with the 3 tracker 'Serenade' .

The title track is delicately brought together by a fragile piano rhythm and poetic wisdom over the might of the kick drum. Tom says its best that 'Despite it being a little generic adding spoken word talking about music over actual music, the poetic nature of the delivery and description of the effects and emotions that music can bring, really worked with the piano I had written for this song.'

'Seventh Sign' was initially intended an experiment in cello recordings through an effects pedal but ended up being track brimming with pure techno groove. Second Skin is the perfect finale embracing epic elements of broken beat and even IDM sensibilities with a gorgeously misguided horn leading the march.

Distant Worlds HQ has tasked 4 sonic scientists, spaced intermittently throughout the earth, to each intercept a transmission on behalf of the electronic music community. Tagwell Woods steps up first with a mournful, melancholic but beautiful interpretation of hardware-based electronica. Castel unearths a track from the mid 90s telling of a progressive approach to acoustics. Flip over for a downtempo trip into the future past courtesy of label fave, Mihail P and HOLOVR tops this release off with an acidic excursion into an expanded state of consciousness.

Dominik Eulberg's Mannigfaltig album proved a huge success last year, and now Eulberg has curated a top selection of 10 outstanding artists to rework key tracks from it. The first of two Remix-EPs contains reworks by Mind Against, Nathan Fake, Adana Twins, Shed and 1979.

The Italian duo Mind Against go first after fomenting their own celestial techno sound on Tale Of Us` After Life. Here they remix 'Goldene Acht' into a brain cleansing melodic cut with sparkling synths as the supple techno drums hypnotise below. Long time Border Community innovator Nathan Fake then flips 'Dreizehenspecht' into a swaggering bit of heavy, broken dub with glassy sounds, crunchy hits and bright harmonies unfolding up top. A vigorous trip.

Diynamic family members Adana Twins have a nuanced techno sound that comes to the fore in their 'Neuntöter' remix, as they build crackling tension with a rocking, massive lead synth. It will have the club in raptures as it draws out ever more before eventually the chugging drums pump again. Ostgut Ton’s Shed is dripping with sounds and moods of the past, yet is rightly known as one of the scene's sharpest innovators. He flips 'Zehnpunkt-Marienkäfer' into a track that shimmers with spring-time melodies that float high above the burrowing drums.

The digital package of EP1 sees two additional remixes, leading with the 1979 rework of 'Fünffleck-Widderchen‘. This remix of Hosh’s Fryhide collaborator has pensive and meditative chords drawn out over punchy drums. Additionally there is also a Adana Twins Funk Remix of 'Neuntöter', which is filled with 80s synths and beeps which generate colourful retro-future vibes.

The Virgo label boss Ilario Alicante presents the first in a series of
collaboration EP's with many recognised artists of the Electronic music scene.

The first episode consists of two collab-tracks with Kevin De Vries, who is well known for his releases on Afterlife. The track “Dystopia” merges a driving bass-synth line with mysterious melodies, the second is “Lotus” recognised with retro-wave arpeggios and pads, orchestrated by a refined techno groove making a unique adrenaline rush.

Kevin himself includes two of his own solo-tracks, including the noteworthy “Dragon of Eden”, that is already known in many of Ilario’s DJ sets. The track takes the listener on a voyage through charming melodies accompanied by the unmistakable groove of the Berlin-based artist.

Italy’s AGENTS OF TIME have long been on the KOMPAKT radar. It started thanks to their exemplary releases on Correspondant and other labels such as Stem, Ellum plus last year’s collaboration with Mathew Jonson (from whom their name is inspired by). Michael Mayer had chance to play with them last summer at one of their Obscura parties and their friendship was cemented. Which leads us now to their five track KOMPAKT debut, entitled MUSIC MADE PARADISE.

From our early days of releasing landmark tracks from JUSTUS KÖHNCKE, the label has never been shy of exploring the enigmatic fringes of disco in our own way. AGENTS OF TIME follow these footsteps but head into galactic territory with MUSIC MADE PARADISE. They continue their knack for bridging synth-wave with modern bass rhythms in a means which are purely designed for today’s dance floors. We’re proud to make their label debut with an incredible selection of music from this talented trio.

French touch meets Italo chic on Drive Me Crazy. At first, My Heart is A Microchip comes across as a segue track, but opens into cascading synths and a predatory breakbeat to lead its own charge. Under Control is classy Moroder disco brought to the modern age. Aptly titled Interstate 10 is an EP highlight – the percussion lead is infectious and ready for prime time exploration.

Auf dem Kompakt-Radar sind AGENTS OF TIME aus Italien schon länger. Grund dafür sind ihre Veröffentlichungen auf Labels wie Correspondant, Stem und Ellum oder ihre Kollaboration mit Mathew Jonson (der sie auch bei ihrer Namensgebung inspirierte). AGENTS OF TIME folgen dieser Tradition, brechen mit MUSIC MADE PARADISE jedoch in galaktische Territorien auf: Dabei halten sie an ihrem Kniff fest, eine Brücke zwischen Synth-Wave und modernen Bass Rhythmen zu schlagen, die wie gemacht ist, um auf ihr zu tanzen. Wir sind stolz darauf, dem talentierten Trio ihr Label-Debut mit einer fantastischen Auswahl an Musik zu ermöglichen.

Drive Me Crazy kombiniert Italo Chic und French Touch. My Heart Is A Microchip kommt zuerst wie ein Track für den Übergang daher, öffnet sich dann aber in einem Wasserfall an Synth und einem gierigen Breakbeat, um auf seine eigenen Kosten zu kommen. Under Control wiederum ist klassischer Moroder Disco, der in die Moderne überführt wurde. Ein Highlight der EP ist Aptly titled Interstate 10 - die Percussion steckt an und wartet auf die Prime Time.
