A2 - The Alex Smott remix bring this concept to the Dance floor, keeping the raw taste and atmosphere of the original cut, and adding a techno contemporary groove, perfect for break the dance floor.

Carsten Halm is a German DJ and producer who keeps his doings very much under the radar. He started his DJ career more than10 years ago avoiding clubs playing at self organized parties in the countryside near Cologne with just two residencies. The parties got so famous that DJs like Sven Väth came to visit and hang out. This experience prepared him to understand the essence of his music production. His music has the unique quality to bring people together and experience something very positive. Now Carsten plays clubs as well but he still sticks to his roots. In 2018/2019 he released on the label Monkey League. Two of the
 tracks "Sonnenstrahl" and "Traumtänzer" made it in to the top positions at Beatport.
 His recent release on Parquet was supported by Solomon, Animal Trainer, Format-B as well as Eelke Kleijn and also made it into the Beatport charts.

With his release on Traum Carsten Halm drifts slightly towards a different direction which can be described as a blend of techno with melodic elements all done in a minimalist fashion. Powerful and warm sounding... ready to rock the dance floor. The full length EP will be released on vinyl and will feature a remix by Nils Hoffmann. The artwork was done by Daniela Thiel.

The EP kicks off with "Taubenflug" using a classic sequential sound in the beginning that is layered with a catchy bassy synth that soon follows. That can be considered only the beging of "Taubenflug". The track builds up step by step adding a fast paced melody and a panoramic spread string melody that give the track its wonderful feeling of elevation. The track is gifted with a very natural progression that can be instantly absorbed and generates a collective feeling of extraordinary happiness.

"Herbstnacht" has a tribal sequence running that places you right into an open air setting at night. The track communicates perfectly the exchange of ones inner self with the things that happen around you. The track has the aura of an epic dance track which seems to defy time since it could go on forever.

The flip side of the vinyl offers the track "Sternenfunkeln" in its original version and the remix version by shooting star Nils Hoffmann. The original is brooding and mysterious yet it does generate a lot of forward motion that pulls you into the track. The track could be understood as expressing the feeling of dancing below the starts catching illuminating glimpses of stars with their thermonuclear fusion happening while we are to far away to understand any of this but see the radiation into space.

Nils Hoffmann’s remix is a sensitive composition with melodies that seem to glide, never touching the ground but on the other hand he has an underlying kind of tension running through the track not unlike a current.

Our latest release Caisa came to us as a demo by Patricio Chrigibonga from Ecuador, and it didn't take me very long see its potential. I said: „I think this is one of the biggest tracks I ever signed for Break New Soil!“ Everywhere I play it out, people come running to the booth asking what it is - so this time we believe we don't go too far by predicting: We might have a future classic here.

When we thought of who could remix this, Kevin De Vries' name came to my mind right away - and Kevin delivered once again with a spaced out, arpeggiated bigfloor version that still keeps the original in mind but adds Kevin's signature sound! We could not be happier with this release and hope you will love it as much as we do!

Five years on from the quartet of special records which marked Innervisions’ 50th release, the Berlin label is closing out the 2010s with a triptych of talent, for IV90. The three separate EPs which make up release #IV90 feature the sonic narratives of Bruno Deodato alias Trikk, the return of “Karma Baby” hitmaker Jimi Jules, and Copenhagen’s Denis Horvat matriculating from ​Secret Weapons alumna to standalone debut.

1. Re.You - They Vibed feat. Lazarusman (Olaf Stuut Remix) Amsterdam native Olaf Stuut delivers a stripped down remix, that comes as a real musical journey. The track is mainly driven by a repetitive 808 drum beat, housed in an arrangement that is packed with sound design and work on the detail. With his latest releases Olaf has been exploring the borders between experimentation and club functionality, and so he's doing here. The original track is cleary recognisable by the distinctive voice of The Lazarusman, but Olaf creates a reinterpretation that is very pure, minimal and unique.

2. David Mayer - Drained feat.Sooma (Tim Engelhardt Remix) Tim Engelhardt's remix of David Mayer 2017 banger 'Drained' featuring vocalist Sooma goes straight to the dancefloor. The driving bassline and organic percussion create a strong foundation for the club. Giving a lot of room to Sooma's voice over the whole track and adding an atmospheric strings arrangement in the break, Tim manages to combine his musicality with pure club joy.

3. Aaaron , Hazel and Carolina Melean - Entropy (Reboots Entaclepuss Rework) Frank Heinrich aka Reboot delivers a remix in typical and well- known manner. Groove, groove and again groove, a lot of love for drum arrangements, plus a bit of weird modulation on the vocal are making up this great remix. This piece doesn't have a loud eccentric nature but grabs your attention over time and is not going to leave you until it's over. This remix of Aaaron's 2016 classic seems to be perfect for a Dj Set of smooth transitions where you just get lost in groove and rhythm.

Florian Busse -Jamieja feat.Lisette Santiago (Stefano Ritteri Turkish Rave Remix) Stefano Ritteri's first appearance on connected comes with a lean neo disco infectious rave workout which is taking the original to a completely new place. Mainly carried by a funky bassline and classy drum machine patterns, the flute-like synthesizer introduces an unexpected oriental flair to this remix. It feels like a daring undertaking which comes out great in the end.

5. David Mayer -Movement (Moscoman Remix) Moscoman's twist on David's 2017 release is a piece of playfulness in every aspect. Mainly made of repetitive marimba and xylophone melodies and classic house piano chords, this remix is giving a modern, timeless touch to the original track. You could call it an uncontrolled madness or the creation of a wild summer anthem.

6. Stereo Mc's- Light At (Original Mix) The ever elusive Stereo Mc's provide a new original track to the package that is driven by a dirty 8bit beat and comes as a analogue deep journey. A continuous hihat-loop keeps you on the rail here, on your way through fading snyth textures that create a very special atmosphere. Vocalist Rob is twisting his vocals with a daring, eastern melodic edge paving the way to a long hypnotic breakdown.

Following on from the heavyweight collaboration with Sasha for ‘The Lights’, Kölsch returns to his IPSO imprint for a remarkable remix of the trance classic ‘Stella’ by Jam & Spoon.

Adding his own signature progressive tones, whilst keeping the original synths and vocals, Kölsch’s remix rounds off with a pulsing acid line. The rework is set for acclaim as it continues the trajectory from ‘The Lights’ which was made Pete Tong’s Essential New Tune on his BBC Radio 1 show.

This latest release solidifies IPSO’s reputation as one of dance music’s leading labels, with the Dane expanding the brand to Miami, Watergate Berlin, and Amsterdam Dance Event last year. Alongside this, Kölsch performed two sold-out IPSO shows to 8,000 people in Antwerp as well as playing two 10 hour sets on consecutive nights at Belgian venue Waagnatie.

Well known for his genre-defining cuts, Kölsch has sold millions of records all over the world under his many different monikers, including the seminal LP ‘1977’ and renowned albums ‘1983’ & ‘1989’, with the latter including the hit single ‘Grey’.

Having already played sold out shows at Printworks London and T7 Paris, Kölsch looks set for another busy summer this year with performances lined up at the likes of Coachella, DGTL Amsterdam, Awakenings Festival, Sonus and Creamfields.

Dominik Eulberg's Mannigfaltig album proved a huge success last year, and now Eulberg has curated a top selection of 10 outstanding artists to rework key tracks from it. The second of two remix EPs welcome Anna, Recondite, Robag Wruhme, Donato Dozzy and Hunter/Game.

Kicking off with Brazil's global techno superstar DJ Anna, who flips 'Sechslinien-Bodeneule' into an atmospheric power-groover with deft synths and trippy little details that make for heady listening. Recondite has created his very own melancholic signature sound on labels like Ghostly, Hotflush and After Life and brings plenty of those gentle and reflective vibes to his deep, rolling remix of 'Vierfleck‘.

The deep mood continues as Kompakt and Pampa's mastermind Robag Wruhme brings his unusual and left-field style to 'Siebenschläfer,' with its counterpointing bass, clanking percussion and an unpredictable, manifold arrangement. Peerless Italian sound designer and serene techno craftsmen Donato Dozzy then gets you in a state of trance with the meaning synths, gentle rhythms and an irrevocable flow of his 'Eintagsfliege’ remix.

In keeping with EP1, the second installment comes with an additional remix included on the digital package via Kompakt’s duo Hunter/Game. With their majestic sense of melody, they interpret „Goldene Acht“ into an expansive rework that will have you lost amongst the stars.

These are fantastic reworks that bring fresh perspectives while also retaining the organic musical beauty that made the originals so special.

Rone's latest album "Room With A View" get the remix treatment by the cream of contemporary electronic music producers. Including remixes by Maceo Plex, Loraine James, Mathew Jonson, Ulrich Schnauß, Dj Lostboi, Kmru and Plaid.

"Room With A View", Rone's fifth studio album, saw Erwan Castex return to his musical roots and the set-up of his early albums: purely electronic, conceived without any musical collaborators in a voluntary artistic isolation predating the 2020 era of social distancing. Rone, locked into a studio with only his instruments for company, gazed through a window at the outside world, pondering the difficulties humankind had maneuvered itself into: climate change, post-truth politics, the impending collapse of global economic systems.

In face of collapsology, what remains but hope? Speaking about one of the key tracks on "Room With A View", "Esperanza", Rone called it an ode to those that keep fighting the good fight, those that have hope and refuse to give up. For "Views of a Room",Rone is now joined by some of those friends from around the globe. Looking into the studio window, smiling back at Rone - picking up the threads he weaved and transforming them, spreading his message across their own communities like missionaries spreading the good word.

You learned that there are genres. Everything separated into categories with their own canon and rules: Major, minor, 4/4, 6/8, highs, lows, high head, butt end. Techno here, Disco there. You learned that art and music are two different things. Visually auditory, audio-visual, optically acoustic, not to mention the surface feel. Listen to me, look at me, touch me. But everything in that order please! You have learned that understanding takes you further. Night / life, rhythm / dancing, substance / excess, water / holding out, sleep / rest, headache / not good. But what would it be if all of that wasn't just right? If all of our knowledge is based on the mistake of having to put everything in relation? To classify it, to make it responsive. What do we do with something that doesn't follow the rules of this logic? That is not based on 0 and 1 and therefore not bound to our binary systems? Is this all at once? After all, what if the whole thing has no limits?

Lush detuned synths, deep basslines sometimes lingering down below, and upfront beats—they all catch the vibe of a wooden dancefloor to be found at Nordring 131 in Offenbach.

When thse two heavy weights, friends and legends of electronic club music finally and after all the years team up the result can only be something fresh, unheard and inspiring. Gui Boratto from Sao Paulo and Robert Babicz from Cologne have produced this hooky house tune with that certain melodic something you can´t get out of your ears anymore. The flip side comes along with that special Babicz Italo beats which beam you back to Rimini in 1983. Hot beat alert!!!

microcastle’s third offering of 2020 welcomes Ivory back to the label for a new EP. Based in Milan, Italian artist Daniel Tagliaferri aka Ivory brings a surreal beauty to his innovative brand of electronic composition. As a perpetual favourite of Adriatique, Ame, Dixon, Lehar, Tale Of Us, Toto Chiavetta and Trikk, Ivory made his microcastle debut in July of last year with ‘No Scale Can Resize You’. Rising to #1 in Beatport Indie Dance and Melodic House & Techno, the release received praise from both his contemporaries and fans alike. Carrying momentum forward, 2020 has yielded significant creative successes for Daniel. The release of ‘Dreamers’ via Innervisions and ‘Hold Your Breath’ via Multinotes have proven to be two of the year’s most well received tracks. Now fresh off a remix for L.K.F Project via AZZUR, Ivory makes a welcome return to microcastle with ‘Light Through Water’.

As a much-requested track from Ivory’s sets, it is the arcane wonder ‘Time Lapse’ which gets the EP underway. Rhythmically buoyant, it’s rippling low end, kaleidoscopic synths and fiery percussion set the release on a course for aural enlightenment. Although best known for his warmer, musical prowess; it is the wintry quality of ‘Quartz’ which follows, placing Ivory in the unique spot of also being able to craft starker, more rhythmic compositions. A highlight in the sets of Trikk, it’s peculiar blend of titanium kicks, icy refrains and hypnagogic synthscapes set the stage for the robust muscularity of ‘Steam Machine’. A recent favourite of Toto Chiavetta, this austere, machine-funk delight appears to be set for dance floor destruction.

Moving forward yet stripping things back are the hypno grooves of ‘Minderals’. Another creation championed by Trikk; it’s slow burning drawl, percussive splashes and pyrotechnic synth design are perfect for the more astute connoisseur. The twisted echoes which lurk in ‘Minderals’ are decayed further still on the following number ‘Eufrat’, a track where Ivory’s elastic grooves and metallic sonics are set against a backdrop of pixie-like effects.

Trending towards the grandiose is the title selection ‘Light Through Water’. Pitched somewhere comfortably between dreamy reverie and symphonic bliss, it’s a piece equally at home above a festival skyline or sitting in the emotional sweet spot of an end of the night scenario. Captivating and poignant in equal measure, it’s widescreen nature tastefully melts down into the fluid tranquility of ‘Arpstairs’. Ivory flexes his borderless versatility here, as notes ring out into timeless suspension, while a gentle flurry of arpeggiated tones sweep their way across a bed of broken rhythms.

Ivory’s multifaceted ‘Light Through Water’ is a set of bold, synthesizer symphonies; a seven-act story showcasing a special talent whose unique sonic aesthetic continues to flourish.

The bee-eater is the most colorful bird of our native lands; a quality which is echoed through the piece of the same name. The composition oscillates from one color into another without losing its significant habitus. It is a musical journey through the color scheme of the bee-eater, through which Dominik Eulberg takes us by way of his iconic style. He succeeds at a striking balancing act between sensitive subtlety and steady pressure, in order to offer us a satisfying share of hedonism.
It is a piece of music that provides an intimate listening experience, while simultaneously supplying listeners with a collective, mobilizing anthem. The long introduction of the track emulates the agile flight for prey of the dazzling bird, but then it fervently taps out the stinger of the captured bee, and finally nothing can stand in the way of the massiveness of the celebratory bass drum. Intrepid, yet with a high degree of ataraxia, Dominik leads us through the skies on an expedition into the colorful land of the bee-eater.
The magnificent turquoise blue plumage of the blue roller glimmers green or blue, depending on the quality of light. These colors, translated into worlds of sound, are reflected in this piece of the same name. Sparkling melodies intertwine gracefully along musical chains, and create a constant redefinition of the theme. The piece is inviting and catchy in the typical Eulbergian manner; submerging into the auditory tract and manifesting itself with much elegy in the deepest cortex. The blue roller is a sit-and-wait hunter - at first occupied with idleness, until finally capturing its anticipated prey. This imperturbable serenity is felt in this piece of music and illustrates Eulberg's many years of knowledge and experience. He steers his audiences through the true essence of music, while always keeping both hands firmly on the wheel.

Sebastian Mullaert has always been a seeker and an innovator, so naturally his long awaited debut solo album, "A Place Called o Inkonst" presents an unique artistic concept and a thoughtful exploration of the relationship between sound and space. For several weeks, Mullaert spent most of his time at Kontra-Musik's home base Inkonst, an old chocolate factory turned cultural hub in the busy urban area of Mollan, Malmo city. Working in solitude outside the venue's usual hours, he built his live rig in front of the PA, right in the middle of the dance floor. This figurative role reversal between a dancer and performer allowed him to fully immerse himself in a perspective as close as possible to that of the audience during the process of creation. Mullaert's recording studio lies deep within a beautiful forest in the south of Sweden, a setting which has increasingly made its mark on his music: lush, green and spacious. It's a lovely place that makes for equally lovely music, but contentment is art's worst enemy. The complete displacement during the recording process of this album has affected his music profoundly. Mullaert's usually wide horizon of green hills and tall beech wood is more condensed and focused here, taking the form of urban patterns of life. Shades of longing and melancholy run through the album and those hazy ambient parts are no longer modelled on morning mist, they are exuding from smoke machines. The album is an exploration of improvisation, an approach that has become far more than a method for Mullaert: For him this is a way of encountering the present. The tracks are expressions of chance; collisions and collaborations of sound waves caught in the moment by Mullaert, like snapshots of fleeting harmony. The thematics are always distinct but at the same time ever morphing, pulsating and breathing like living entities. As the music changes we accordingly change with it. New patterns of movement and thought emerge and we improvise to keep up. This is the concept of dancing in its purest form, but also of meditation. A place called o Inkonst is made for both. A place called o Inkonst is Sebastian Mullaert's hommage to improvisation - an approach that is central to his work as a musician, as well as his critically acclaimed Circle Of Live event series concept he launched last year. The here and now is always in a state of flux, so improvising is the only true way to experience the present.

OHANNES BRECHT seeks the sublime with lead track “Synesthetic” – a delicate yet potent entry that was inspired by the condition called synesthesia, a perceptual condition in which the stimulation of one sense triggers an automatic, involuntary experience in another sense. Flipside “Matter” leans more to to the left-field where found sounds mingle to a simmering bass drum. The bonus track “Particulate” furthers Johannes’ vast capabilities as a musician by playing E-Bow on an medieval instrument called the Dulcimer - the results reflect and depth and beauty rarely heard in dance music.

Overall, his “Dust EP” finds beauty through minimalistic arrangement.

What is techno? It's a question that might be worth considering in our current world away from the dancefloor, and that which is proposed by DJ Tennis on 'Anthems for No State', a new compilation commemorating ten years of music from Life and Death. A number of the label's most trusted associates offer their sonic answer to Tennis's query on this propulsive yet thoughtful compilation.

"Not all of the artists here are exclusively associated with 'techno', whatever that may be, and everyone took a different direction", explains Manfredi, the international DJ turned-lockdown bicycle repairman. "But in producing something outside of your comfort zone, or experimenting with something you'd never thought about experimenting with, it takes you right back to when you started, and so you have nothing to lose. And it's liberating."

Although 'Anthems for No State' focuses on the potential within one particular sound, it's the perfect anniversary accompaniment to a decade of one of electronic music's more unpredictable institutions. As Tennis himself puts it, "sometimes we failed, sometimes we were successful without ever expecting it, but we always want to keep things interesting within the manifesto of the label."

In this instance, techno is truly a matter of Life and Death.

With signature acoustic drums, synthwork, breakbeats, and soundscapes, Polynation offers a highly spirited electronic EP with hints of trance, electronica, and krautrock. Arrangements are key - opening track Wildeburg is an 8-minute piece that moves in all directions, yet it feels like one cohesive work: a melancholic homage to the festival fields. Coral, the b-side of the release, is split into two parts. The first version continues where Wildeburg left off, eventually concluding with a beautiful synth-led anticlimax. The second part of Coral is a modest, alternative take of the original mix. The track Wildeburg is named after the Dutch festival Wildeburg where Polynation played one of their most memorable shows last year. Frieder Nagel invites his listeners to get lost in a universe that spans from euphoric to devastating excitement. He is known for managing projects in venues ranging from theatres to clubs, for concerts to audio-visual experiments - working with artists like David August, La Boum Fatale and Daniel Brandt (Brandt Brauer Frick). The first time he appeared on stage, in 2016 at Berlin's infamous Radialsystem V, armed with several synthesizers, effects, drum machines, one grand piano; and backed by the German Symphony Orchestra (DSO). This critically acclaimed debut was streamed by Boiler Room later and led to further collaborations with Philharmonie Essen or his ensemble show at Reeperbahn Festival.

Now finally Nagel Žs first solo work Distract Robots will be released by French label InFineŽ. This 12" has become an album in miniature with a final polish by mastering guru Zino Mikorey known for his work for Nils Frahm Žs All Melody. This EP offers up a mystical world, full of warm synths and detailed sound clusters morphing into each other to form utterly dark and dystopian ballads. Nagel gets lost in obsessively endless sessions with his instruments. He isolates himself and spends night after night drifting away from reality. The result is that his tracks carry moments of utterly deep relief and deliverance, as well as despairing sadness and stoical escapism.

We first encountered DJ Varsovie back in 2018 when Guillaume Labadie proposed him as the remixer for Walpurgis Night on the I Hate Models / Khemia release Midnight Cults.

With that, Extrawelt invite those that were there from the start to join them in getting a kick out of being “officially mature”. And for those that were not, to have the chance to hear their story up until now, like it’s never been told before.
