Dominik Eulberg's second EP on his label Apus apus features the track 'Roter Gitterling' (eng. Basket stinkhorn / Red cage) on the a side and - Tintenfischpilz' (engl. Octopus stinkhorn / Devil's fingers) on the flip side.

A. Roter Gitterling
The fleshy red cage of this kind of mushroom reminds of a merging of an upside down shopping string bag and an alien. Not allowing any objection, the track strides forward with determination towards a musical interpretation of this strange being. A fulminant kick drum counteracts in a very prosaic way the bitter-sweet pads. In a very narrative fashion the track gathers speed and flocks diverse soundscapes and disembogues in a break of harmonical expanse.
Conciliatory and in a hedonistic way the bass drum eventually stitches together what belongs to each other.
B. Tintenfischpilz
This bizarre looking extraterrestrial mushroom evokes at first glance the image of a dead octopus or radioactive vegetable.
As in a science fiction movie four to six tentacles sprout and raise out of a common stinkhorn and later spread into a star shape look. In an unparalleled manner this stunning progression is executed musically by Eulberg with a high degree of elaboration.
All done with elegant blend of continuous progression and permanent change the track wreathes itself towards heaven, whereas fragmented melody artifacts pour into the shape of a miraculous emergence.

Don’t you realise that it’s getting warmer and warmer by the minute, that DJ JA’s “Warm”EP for hundert is just the beginning of something new while things continue to heat up?
Just think about hearing it on the news, that feeling of your skin crawling, shrivelling, theshrill alarm sounds ringing inside your head and you trying to keep your cool while theheat is rising. Just relax though, consider the Y2K panic – how everyone breathed a
breath of relief on the 1st of January once the clock had struck midnight and everything just stayed the same. After all, that’s maybe what we really need to be doing instead: wait for things and nature and this planet to settle this on their own terms. Wasn’t it all just a
hazy craze back then, and isn’t the same happening now? Aren’t we all susceptible for either apathy or paranoia, that bittersweet ambivalence also at the core of this EP, which navigates between harsh and nervous sounds, providing both heat and the (figurative and literal) chilling cool that we so desperately long for? Remember to stay calm when you can and that nature couldn’t give a fuck about whether or not we start acting only when it’s far too late; just consider your own insignificance while the melodies stretch out beyond the horizon and into the aether. May we suggest however that you wake up, take the first letter of each sentence, put them all together in order to see through the heat of the moment and the chilling anxiety in order to feel what’s true, real, and present?

The mysterious Black Fan is back again! After his recent 7“ with Greymatter, he goes bigger this time and releases a proper 4-track 12“. We know that Black Fan has already released on respected labels like Wolf Music and Local Talk. We also know that he loves vintage analog studio gear as much as we love his old school touched tunes. But we don’t know what „RVBD“ means. And what’s with „tiger fisted“? Maybe we will find out! In the meantime enjoy this proper old school release.

Frenchman Darlyn Vlys lands on TAU with the Doble Impacto EP, comprised of four brandnew tracks. Darlyn cooks up his productions in his Valencia studio, the Spanish city where he is currently based provides a wealth of inspiration, along with his deeply rooted passion for emotionally driven electronic music. His back catalogue includes a recent appearance on Jennifer Cardini’s Correspondant label and his music has been supported by some of the scene’s most respected DJs, including Ame and Dixon, Black Coffee, Maceo Plex and TAU’s head honchos, Adana Twins.

This is the third release on vinyl in a series with Carsten Halm intended as a collectors release.

Carsten Halm’s new EP works hand in hand with his previous Traum EPs ("Taubenflug" and "Fuchsbau") in the sense that it seemingly effortless creates an intense feeling that reaches people and has created a fanbase already.

The opening track "Hammerhai" combines modern techno playfulness with some seductive old-school chords to create another Halm journey at its best. His narrative quality is very addictive and fine structured again.

The track "Tiefsee" follows this trail but has a stronger techno focus.

"Anemone" instead could be called a more private track, more introvert and lush as it shapes a matrix for a cool listening experience.

It's with great pleasure that we announce the return of New York's synth wizard Steve Moore to KOMPAKT - pretty much exactly 10 years after his much lauded first appearance 'Bayern Kurve' on our SPEICHER series.

Steve Moore is widely recognized as one half of Italo Disco-tinged horror-prog project ZOMBI, his numerous thriller movie soundtrack works (The Guest, VFW, Mayhem, Bliss, The Mind's Eye) as well has his clubbier output on Ron Morelli's L.I.E.S. imprint.

The title track of this 4 track EP, "Frame Dragging" sees Moore in full spine tingling mode. In case you've ever stepped into a hot bath on a cold day (in case you haven't you should try it) you should be well familiar with the phenomenon of being incredibly cold and hot at once. That's exactly what 'Frame Digging' does to the dance floor. Goosebump massacre.

"Gamma Quadrant" combines emotive balearic elements with a rolling minimal house track that reminds us of early Playhouse glory. Or is it early Kompakt?

'Gravity Well' and 'Protostar' are both taking a more chilled out route. They perfectly bookend both sides of the record and showcase Moore's stunning ability of creating suspenseful, spaced out beauty.

What began as a challenge to fight creative stagnation, soon grew into a fully-fledged audio-visual project for Belgian DJ, producer and live artist, Biesmans. Setting himself the goal of making three tracks per week for a month, he re-scored ‘80s pop culture moments – including films, TV shows and games, resulting in a brilliant 12-track work encompassing new wave, indie, dark wave, electro and
disco.
Moving his modular-heavy studio to Berlin in 2014, the ensuring years saw Joris Biesmans drop heat on Correspondent, Disco Halal, AEON, 17 Steps and Future Disco. He’s been a core member of Watergate
family since his arrival in the capital, working as the club’s sound technician. He made his debut on Watergate Records in 2020 with the well-received ‘Electric Love’ EP.
The ‘Planes, Trains & Automobiles’ album took shape in April last year as the lockdown was starting to take grip and Biesmans needed a positive distraction. Ensconced in the music of his childhood and ‘80s
pop cultural fodder, he locked himself in his studio and set about creating, later digging through archival footage to match the music. Biesmans, who previously undertook work scoring films, was so absorbed by the process, he’d sometimes do it in reverse; allowing the vintage media be the guide. Throughout the period, the clips were shared each Monday, Wednesday and Friday on his Instagram, building up a firm following from fans, friends and colleagues. And thus, the project found its wings, developing into an album.
Throughout the dozen tracks, highlights are plentiful; from the neon ambience of the Kraftwerk-inspired ‘ ‘Cosmic Cruise’, which later accompanied a smoky scene between Tom Cruise and Rebecca de Mornay in ‘Risky Business’; the sun-soaked, retro-pop title track, which became the album’s first single, and was paired with a jubilant dance scene from the Breakfast Club; ‘Cold Void’, the album’s second single, which saw Biesmans link up with fellow Belgians Boi Wonder and Tom the Bomb for a dark wave creation built around a heavy guitar solo and set against a backdrop of Blade Runner clips; and the silky electro funk of ‘Another World’ that soundtracks scenes from Miami Vice.
Biesmans explains about ‘Planes, Trains and Automobiles’: “I started this as a lockdown challenge, in which I would make three tracks per week for a month, alongside providing videos where I re-scored
footage of 80s pop culture moments. Inspired by the movie of the same name, I picked the title because it ties to the theme of ‘mobility’. Our society is based upon being mobile and when Corona hit us, we
could taste a bit of being immobile. As an artist that meant, I could focus on making music 100%. No distractions, no weekend gigs, no parties just making music. This new lifestyle resulted in my first album.
A journey into the past but looking forward to the future, experimenting with other genres and techniques to make a real album that goes beyond club music.”

It Feels Like Zooming In On Nature Grasping A Time Lapse Symphony. "blossoming Limburg Ft Mahfoud" Was Born In The Capital Of Limburg Which Is Located In The South Of The Netherlands And Reflects The Summer Of 2017 And Was Recorded In A Warehouse. It Reflects The Intimacy And Synergetic Level Between Mahfoud And Thyladomid. The Fantastic Deep Vocal Track Is Spiced Up With Lots Of Acoustic Details Which All Happen In The Background But Effectively Surface To Pull The Listener Into His World. "night Owl" Is A Lyrical Dreamy Piano Piece With A Melancholic Note And An Ear For Details. Acoustic Finesse Presented On An Episodic Scale. We Guess The Track Was Influenced By The Works Of Four Tet Or Pantha Du Prince. "kollwitzplatz" Is A Small Park In Berlin's Prenzlauer Berg Which Was Thyladomid's Home For 2 Years . - the Cafes And Restaurants Laced By The Alleys Of The Kollwitz District Resemble A Piece Of Home For Me And Represents The Time Of My Stay In Berlin'. Musically "kollwitzplatz" Is Full Of Life. You Can Hear Children Talking While The Piano Attracts Sounds Like Moths Are Attracted To Light. The Track Offers This Richness Of Percussive Elements And Sound Sources Creating A Stunning Complexity Which Does Not Limiting Itself But Rather Creates This Free Flow Of Acoustic Signals. You Instantly Will Feel: There Is A Lot To Discover At "kollwitzplatz". "underwater Rhapsody", The Title Says It All: It Has That Episodic, Free-flowing Structure, Featuring A Range Of Highly Contrasted Moods, Color And Tonality. After featuring a track on Dixon's Transmoderna EP and releasing his debut EP "Virtuality", we are delighted to welcome back Echonomist with his „Night Versions EP" for our first release in 2021.

Last year wasn't very gentle with dance music and even the most striking and elaborate club tracks unfortunately had to give up some of their shine, which makes "Our Last Night” all the more impressive with its reduced atmospheric beat and catchy melancholic vocals. In collaboration with Mironas (aka. Myronas Stratis), who lends his voice to the track, they created an emotionally driven and heart-rending music production.

"Different Versions Of Your Love” takes form with his progressive synthlines and a punchy breakbeat, the backbone of the EP, and offers a good start into a hopefully more prosperous dance season in 2021.

Olaf Stuut returns to Atomnation with a new EP titled 'Crown Shyness". In his elegant, dark improvised style, Olaf created 3 tracks that are ready for both dance-floors and home listening enthusiasts. Olaf is known for his album 'Run', the EP 'Siren' (with a very solid remix from Dauwd) and his remix efforts for The Acid, Max Cooper and Sasha's Last Nigth On Earth label.

We welcome to the Kompakt family one of our local Cologne heroes, "Jonathan Kaspar". We’ve appreciated him from afar for some time now thanks to his releases on Crosstown Rebels, Pets Recordings, Ouie and of course our own KX imprint. His single “Renard” was a highlight of our recently released TOTAL 19 collection, so it was time to make our relationship official with a 4 track EP.

Opener “Kern” leads with layers of melodic synths power charged around a playful house rhythm. For the digital release he offers up a Percussion Edit that is intended to bring more depth to the charge. “Zentrum” is for that peak time pace … elevating melodies caress a swelling mid-tempo beat. Not to mention one of the biggest breakdown’s we’ve had the pleasure to release in some time.

We move to “Licht” which literally sounds like it soars, then back to earth comes “Kante” – the most techno inspired track of the EP – an oscillating synth rips through solid low end bass frequencies – with Jonathan Kaspar skillfully demonstrating prime time, peak and valley production. “Kante EP” brings out his emotive, high energy style of writing and producing in a means that could be pointed to as his best work to date.

Fresh off their outstanding performance at Life and Death's hedonistic circus in Amsterdam, Marvin & Guy return with their second etching in the label's stone - Solar Warriors. Idra, featuring Techno-Chanteuse, Perel, balances effervescent, nouveau-synth passages with a cosmic, spoken-word recital. Cut from similar silk, Notte pushes further outwards, while peering deeper within. Stige (9AM Mix) sees the duo complete their galactic revolution in fine form

German veteran Marc Romboy is back on André Hommen’s ​These Eyes imprint with a stellar two track release entitled ​Elka, ​showcasing Marc’s effortless ability to portray alluring and emotive characteristics through music​. ​This offering follows up from ​Trapped In An Orbit​, which he released on the label in 2017 and remains a label highlight to this day.

The title track ​Elka provides a stirring and suspenseful journey that plays out as it’s melodies unfold over a bassline that pulses gently and impels the listener. ​Unreal Sun ​ups the energy with a groove thats ready to fall into and chords that lead the way, dictating the pace as their intensity undulates.

Marc Romboy has dedicated 30 years to the scene, with an impressive history of releases on labels like Innervisions and his own Systematic Recordings, collaborating with artists such as Stephan Bodzin. It is a point to be made that the A side to this release is one of Marc’s personal favourites to date and it is clear to see why.

"Abendpfauenauge" brings together a romantic outlook as well as a rave quality through sequential tight knit melodies which enables the DJ to play the tune in the club. "Oleanderschwärmer" on the contrary is a dreamy and airy 15 minute epic that is a true fascinating listening experience. A. Abendpfauenauge The Eyed hawkmoth owes its name to the distinctive eye drawing on its hind wings. The bark-colored forewings provide perfect camouflage when resting on tree trunks during the day. In case of a disturbance, it pulls the forewings up jerkily. The moth now gives off the appearance of a face that suddenly stares at the troublemaker. Forward and backward swinging movements of the body intensify this threatening effect. B. Oleanderschwärmer With its incredible colors, the Oleander hawkmoth is a symbol of tropical beauty. It rarely flies into our fields as a migratory butterfly. With a wingspan of up to 13 centimeters, it is a true "Jumbo". It's flying style is similar to that of hummingbirds. It reaches speeds of up to 50 km/h. It's proboscis, the tubular mouthpart used for feeding on the nectar of flowers, becomes as long as its body.

It's been a year and a half since we last saw La Fleur grace Watergate Records with a proper EP, having been featured on remix duties for Sasha's 'Trigonometry' and her contribution 'Femton' to the celebrated 15 Years compilation.
So her brand new 'Outbreaker' EP arrives just in time to curb any impatience you might have waiting for her signature blend of house and techno aesthetics fused with modern production techniques that sets her apart from her peers.
La Fleur kicks things off with a wild heaving bass line and crisp, distinctive organic claps on 'Devils Sigh' setting the tone for the hypnotic groove that soon turns into a high energy burner of explosive bursts and an incredibly unique lead guaranteeing an absolute hit. It only gets better when one of the hottest acts on the scene, Tuff City Kids, lend their talents for a remix and turn 'Devils Sigh' into an analog heavy, future-retro banger that's as different as it is the same as the original, creating a perfect alternative to the already killer original.

The Belgian-born producer, live act and sound designer has crafted a nostalgia-driven delight; ‚Trains, Planes & Automobiles’ is brimming with retro synths and digi stabs, reminiscent of a Pac-Man session.
Heavy with bottom end punch, Fideles deliver a stellar breaks interpretation of the original, which kicks with plenty of sentimental spirit. ‘Save The Night’ is a gem, uplifting keys, swirling layers of synths and a hook-ridden vocal sealing its impact.

With his nothing short of outstanding Force EP on Compost Records, prodigious Laolu pushes his boundaries even further and provides us with a refreshing and yet poignant travel through his vision of afro inspired house music. In addition to this musical marvel comes a long-awaited vinyl exclusive Laolu Remix of Sophie Hunger’s “There Is Still Pain Left”, one that will be remembered. It received heavy support already by the likes of Solomun, Marcus Worgull, Trikk and Eagles & Butterflies!

Alfa Romero’s combination of hardware synthesizers and modular systems creates a powerful and organic sound which translates to a unique aural feeling. The title track ‘1001 Nights’ is a prime example, an emotive melody suspended above a spacious techno framework. The formula heads further into a trippy, euphoric headspace (‘Learning To Fly’), offers serene moments of ambience and dreamy arpeggios (‘Moonlight Tide’’). The Italian duo have a gift for making synths sing in harmony and flicker between the beats. DJ Tennis' highly acclaimed Life and Death imprint continues to traverse sonic boundaries with no exception. The next release Trooper comes from London-based producer Joseph Ashworth, featuring outstanding remixes from the inimitable Ron Trent and founder of Margot Records, Sebra Cruz. 'Trooper pushes a new sound that I have been exploring - with grit and excitement taking charge rather than finesse and tidiness. It makes me think of some kind of disturbing military march, a little bit agressive and a little bit noisy, hence the name.' - Joseph Ashworth The Ron Trent version employs a stronger techno leaning at the outset, adding a vocal and ambient synths that take it on deeper journey. Sebra Cruz creates a powerful peaktime number, bass-focussed and euphoric. Second original track Laminated, perpetuates the perfect dancefloor rhythm with an abundance of drums, percussion and a heady dose of bass. Joseph Ashworth began his career on Needwant with his Grain LP, which showcased his innate ability to fuse melody with a techno beat. Since then, he's had releases on Get Weird, Dirtybird, Pets Recordings and Anjunadeep. Legendary Ron Trent is regarded as one of the key figures in the birth of the Chicago music scene. He has an extensive back catalogue of prominent releases, founding four of his own labels. Sebra Cruz is the new solo endeavour of one half of Italian duo, and founder of Margot Records, Margot. Earlier this year he released a collaboration with DJ Tennis on their Truth Or Consequences EP.

Israeli artist Kino Todo continues to put himself in the spotlight with an innovative new EP on DJ Tennis's Life And Death that features a track with countrymen Red Axes.

Todo's multicultural sounds on Jenia Tarsol’s and Chaim’s Blue Shadow records, where he released his first ep with hit banger “Gidafi Na” as well as on Moscoman’s Disco Halal have made him one of the most promising new artists in the scene. He is someone with a psyched out style that fuses long, drawn out drum machine rhythms with intoxicating synths as well as influences from prog and rock. His music is colourful and charming and always refreshingly original. His last release, 'Yasmin', was his biggest yet, but this new offering shows another mature evolution for such a young artist.

Opener 'Goa Kids' is a bristling and uplifting arrangement that is always on the move. It comes on strong with a percussive jumble of hits and tambourines that ride in loose fashion over a surging groove. Warm, rich bass pumps down low, enchanting flutes and youthful vocal chants all get you locked and take you on a charming trip. The lively 'Paradox' is a more broken beat, with twisted synths and sci-fi sound effects all underpinned by booming kicks as alien vocals are layered in with sirens and pixelated pads. It is a fantastic collision of musical worlds.

The vital 'Vocus Pocus' is a Middle Eastern rave that overflows with musical imagery, ghoulish vocals, juddering kicks and retro-future synth lasers that prepare you for take off. Last of all, the esteemed Red Axes duo join the party for 'Boom Shaki Boom', a tripped out and freaky cut of Israeli acid techno that is riddled with edgy pads and intergalactic sounds.

These are complex and characterful tracks that draw on a wide range of cultural references and reimagine them as dance floor dynamite.

Kevin De Vries delivers big room drama on his 'Aratak' EP for Afterlife Recordings. Spirited synth lines, drum rolls, gripping moments of silence and weighty kick drums make the title track of De Vries' Afterlife debut formidable club gear. 'Sciamachy' is more subtle, centred around a euphoric arpeggio which spirals to its apex. Konstantin Sibold contributes a fine remix, toning down certain elements of 'Sciamachy' to let others shine. It completes an EP that brims with energy and dancefloor dynamism, a hugely exciting first full record for De Vries on Afterlife.

One the same side of the record you will find a remix by the Berlin-based duo Eins Tiefer. They offer a chunky and groovy interpretation, proper to blow up the floor.

Igniting side B we have Cioz, with an energetic slamming cut, that will flap with power and dynamism.
Closing the release, coming from South Africa, De Cave Man & TonicVolts completes this vinyl with an afro rhythm remix full of energy. A magical trip influenced by their roots.
