Combining warm and soulful vibes with a house touch 'Peculiar' is a real thing of beauty. On the flip Tommy presents 'The Kids', a track with a somewhat more folky approach and with it's perfectly placed strings amping up the drama.

It has been seven years since Audika last issued an album of Arthur Russell material. The wait ends this summer with Corn, nine tracks Russell recorded in 1982 and 1983.
In collaboration with Russell's partner Tom Lee,
Audika's Steve Knutson compiled Corn from Arthur's original, completed 1/4' tape masters. Russell himself compiled this material on three separate test pressings—labeled El Dinosaur, Indian Ocean, and Untitled, respectively— in 1985.
Russell fans know something of the Corn sound from Audika's debut release, Calling Out of Context (2004),
which included four songs from these sessions: 'The Deer In The Forest Part 1,' 'The Platform on the Ocean,'
'Calling Out Of Context,' and 'I Like You!'

Record hunter, beat maestro extraordinaire and all-round Mr Nice Guy Lucci Capri, famous for his Messalina Edits series, follows up his debut "Kilimanjaro" on Kenneth Bager's Music For Dreams with an incredible catchy Balearic beat chugger "None Left For Me". Sounding like a lost gem but made with classy contemporary production, this simple yet effective track has huge cross-over appeal full of rolling baselines, melodic synths, and a great male hook with shades of the 80ties Wang Chung classic "Dance Hall Days". Mr Capri keeps up the quality and shows personal style and pure imagination with second track "U Used To...", a very different hip hop take on the Spectrum/Coma Club classic by Ralphi Rosario - here sampled, stretched and edited to massive effect for the smiling dance floor. Flip the coin and the Balearic goodie bag continues with the second release on MFD by "Magic Wand" specialists Coyote. "Juicy" is a horizontal tune with just the right amount of dubbed arpeggios, chilled pianos, sunset strings and a hint of Barry thrown into the mix for good measure - a great combination that should definitely keep the Balearic boffins happy. Stacy Kidd Pevet Everett back to Minuendo after "Los Dedos Cortados" in another record, now is a special 10" with two fabulous vocal tracks and special collaboration for another Chicago house legendary Maurice Joshua.

33-10-3402, also known as Serbian-born artist/producer Nenad Markovic, returns to the ESP Institute for the third release in his opium den and whorehouse inspired Mecanica series. Slow Port is a cacophonous track, skillfully composed of an erratic barrage of percussive klinks and klanks as you might find in an automotive factory—pistons, gears, quips, cranks, but despite its industrial instrumentation, Nenad manages to extract a beautifully seductive quality from this beast. On Side B we're faced with the slightly more musical Plutonium Certainly, an exercise in distortion which is punctuated by repetitive androgynous chanting, and finally we culminate and release simultaneously with Elika, an overtly ethereal blur somewhere between hope and melancholy. To fully appreciate Nenad's crafted subtlety, we recommend repeated listening.

At this point Nenad has managed to whirl our imagination into a state of confusion so deep that we're simply at a loss for words. Its in these moments where we at the ESP Institute are most proud, with the birth of something absolutely new. Bravo Nenad, bravo.

Italian band N.O.I.A. was amongst the first electronic music groups to emerge in the late seventies and early eighties alongside peers like Kraftwerk and Depeche Mode. Londoners Kiwi and Ashworth return to Sneaky for a follow-up to Dawn EP, the warm, dusty and at times experimental release, championed by the likes of Daniel Avery, Eric Duncan and Tiefschwarz. The past few months have been busy for both halves of the duo, with Kiwi signing to Duke Dumont's Blase Boys Club and remixing for house music super-labels bPitch Control and Get Physical, whilst Ashworth has signed music to Tomoki Tamura's Holic Trax and NeedWant. Second EP takes a new format, with two original tracks 'Alaska' and 'Na'am' on the A-side, backed up by a Nicholas & Marcoradi remix of CUX3 and Ranacat's remix of Zubr. Alaska could be described as an amalgamation of the inspirations that lead to the first Sneaky release, combining the pumping house beats of CUX3, the comforting Wurlitzer of Zubr and the ethereal movie-soundtrack Dusk. Na'am is something totally different, existing mainly as a collage of recorded and found sounds, avoiding the usual structure of house music in favour of something reminiscent of the weirder side of the Chemical Brothers. Strange though the track may be, the climax would undoubtedly move a room full of pilled up ravers to a state of frenzy. The B-side remixes both hint to dance floors of the 90s, with Nicholas and Marcoradi making you wait and wait before dropping an unforgettable piano hook, whilst Sneaky's Ranacat lifts Zubr out of context and into peak time territory.

A high school teacher by day, father of three and deeply passionate music devotee, there's an undeniable sense that Fabrice Lig was cut from a different cloth than most.

The Belgian artist, also releasing music under the Soul Designer moniker is responsible for the classic 'Walking On A Little Cloud' album on Laurent Garnier F Communications, as well as a slew of pivotal Detroit-influenced cuts on labels such as KMS and 7th City Records that captured the essence of the iconic hotspot's spirit while retaining Lig's trademark free-flowing funk.

For his debut full length on Planet E, the dexterous producer has crafted an album of contrasts that gleefully scribbles outside the lines for an otherworldly 12-track trip of galactic proportions that mines inspiration from everyone from Todd Terje to Marvin Gaye and Quincy Jones, while retaining an undeniable thread to the Motor City.

Launching with the steely tension-filled 'Born To Be Wise' that sounds somewhat akin to the opening musical score of a Bond film, if said flick was set on Mars, the tempo is soon set to disco via the ultra smooth vocal injection from Hard Ton on 'Celestial Love Rising'.

There's a heavy hint of a future house classic when Lig teams up with lauded vocalist and former Octave One collaborator Ann Saunderson for 'No Judgment' that's already been generating serious heat since being released as a single recently. The masterful 'Oostende Blues' is the Belgian's own masterful tribute to his hero Gaye spanning energetic tech funk that gradually tempers to reveal more tender melodic tones. In a highlight heavy album, the work is fittingly rounded out by the Terje-inspired 'Superstring Theory' that mixes up disco, funk and '90s rave vibes all executed with astounding compositional skill - no mean feat from an artist who's never had a music lesson in his life.

Part-time tram driver and full-time disco disciple, Helsinki's Jaakko Eino Kalevi catalyzses street smart funk into heat stroke for Yin Yang Theatre, his new EP on Beats In Space Records.

The title of Yin Yang Theatre came to Kalevi as an epiphany while dining in Washington Heights on a stateside holiday.
"I was feeling bad about something and I thought that speaking out would be the solution. Almost immediately, I realized that confrontation is not the solution for every situation. The right balance is a combination of both: confrontation and patience. Yin Yang Theatre as a metaphor of life"

While Jaakko's enlightened metaphor guides the six songs of Yin Yang Theatre, it does not sequester their inspiration to separate sides of the platter. Instead, the inspiration bakes a perfect pie using the tracks' irreverent and irresistibly bohemian ingredients.

Following the metaphor manifestation of 'Speak Out', Ying Yang Theatre's second act is 'Pass the Cat', a step-by-step instruction manual for a midnight hour game made up on a late night during another one of Kalevi's many NYC visits (think Hot Potato gone feline). Before intermission, 'Sensaatio', a love song sung in Jaakko's native tongue, invokes the heel tripping effect of love at first sight.

The undulating analog ode to Greece of 'Tecno Souvlaki' and 'Let the Energy Be Your Teacher (Part 1)' explore even softer rocking inflections of Jaakko's work at the top of side B before 'XO-Tic Grlz', a percussive deconstruction of 'Pass the Cat', quickens the EP from an introspective to extroverted finale.

Each 12" on Beats in Space Records features original artwork in considerate and serial form. Hiroaki Koshiba, a frequent collaborator who paints during Jaakko's live performances, composed Yin Yang Theatre's artwork in similar practice. The 12" packaging constructed by Will Work For Good features a removable vinyl BIS logo cling.

Following the incredibly well received Record Store Day release of Donna McGhee's Make It Last Forever, Groove Line Records continue with another Patrick Adams & Greg Carmichael produced classic, Lady Bug, by BUMBLEBEE UNLIMITED, the second in our series of 12' audiophile reissues from the Disco underground.

BUMBLEBEE UNLIMITED was a studio disco project from Adams and Carmichael, and along with their work with groups like Universal Robot Band and Inner Life, is credited for pushing the boundaries of dance music production. Their 1978 classic single Lady Bug was taken from the groups only album, Sting Like A Bee.

Side A is the Disco Mix by John Morales and Frank Trimarco. A solid kick opens the track before Morales's trademark percussion is introduced. Then the slick bass, guitar and piano groove play alongside the innovative synth lines and drive the rhythm forward, before the addition of that simple but engaging single note piano groove... the core element of the track, and the synthesized vocal between the Lady Bug in question and the bee who's chasing her. At approximately 6m30 there is an extended build-up where each element returns before the fade.

Side B features the Disco Remix by the legendary Larry Levan. Starting with the full drums and percussion Levan adds each element at an earlier stage than the Disco Mix, so the full track, including the vocal, hits you at just over a minute and doesn't let go until the fade, giving a more intense dance floor experience.

Pole Jam Vinyl proudly present their 4th release the 'Lady Leopard EP'.

Star striker Cassara kicks us off with the first of his two tracks 'Lady Leopard'. In true Cassara fashion this is another seriously funky, French Disco House track that hits the back of the net every time.

New signing Darko Kustura has one goal in mind and gets his debut off to a winning start by slotting home with his super smooth track 'Peninsula', effortlessly gliding us along on top of lush electric piano keys.

Cassara goes on the attack again, kicking off the second half with 'The Forest'. This time he takes things just a touch deeper, keeping us locked in with a series of mesmerizing step-overs and a seriously hypnotic looped vocal.

London duo Benny & Gain round off the release in fine style coming off the bench to score the winner with their melodic Nu Disco gem 'Approval'.

Yoruba Records is happy to welcome back label veterans Kiko Navarro and DJ Fudge with this tribal leaning surprise release. As the name BabaluAye (the praise name for the healer in the Orisha system) suggests, this package has taken on a diverse world music approach. The original mix opens with crystal clear vocals that compliment the wide array of live drums featured throughout. The mix comes into its own with the addition of atmospheric underlying keys and melodic guitar riffs. The club cut comes with a more pronounced, driving beat clearly meant for the floor and features well-crafted jazz-like piano lines sure to capture listeners in a trance. Le Soleil's mix uses a smooth bass line that takes charge of the track and is complimented by a rhythm guitar and a hint of ambient keys that add fullness and depth to this cut. Moyuba has provided us with a seamlessly crafted dub that edges on the border of tech house and is as club ready as they come. Finally, the Cosmic dub brings this release to a close with a slow, rolling bass line, drawn out atmospheric synths and well placed stabs that will keep the room moving into the early morning.

Quality reissue of the mega-rare Blow Up records release of the Italo masterpiece Pink Footpath by Loui$. Originally released in 1985, this gem has become one of the most h ighly sought after Italo Disco tracks around. On the A side is Magic Dance which is good, but it's the instrumental version of the track Pink Footpath that really gets the disco DJs drooling. With its killer analogue b-line, dreamy synths and Balearic guitar riffs, it's easy to see why it became such an anthem at the early Ibiza parties as well as a late night favourite in Chicago and New York. Highly recommended.

Taken from his album L'Aventura, Sebastien Tellier is gearing up to release a remix EP for 'Aller Vers Le Soleil ' on December 10th, with contributions coming from Tom Furse (The Horrors) and Hercules & Love affair. It's mildly comical, that Tim Wagner and Amy Douglas, two former Long Islanders would choose Sunrise HWY (former Sunrise Highway) as the name for their venture, but one listen to the music, and it's clear as to why they chose such a lofty and expansive name. Sunrise HWY is atmospheric, sophisticated, broad, and most importantly a return to the song as king.
After the successful debut EP on True Romance in 2014, we are excited to have the remix EP finally coming out. And it's not just some remixes, we managed to get two of the best remixers around at the moment. Italy's finest Tiger & Woods and Tuff City Kids from Germany.
Larry Tiger & David Woods delivered a very hypnotic version of Sunrise HWY's ‚Some Kinda Fool' while Gerd Janson & Lauer aka Tuff City Kids did their reinterpretation on the originals of 'Never Enough' and 'Compass Point'.

A sensitive artist overflowing with creativity and personality, he comes across like a mix between Arthur Russell /Royksopp meets Vini Reilly but stands firmly on his own feet combining falsetto vocals, beautiful guitar playing, and powerful keyboards with slow disco grooves: "I just play and do what feels natural" says Emil Germ. This Music For Dreams 12" features two tracks from his forthcoming album "Adult Party" - first single "Tease and Burn" is already gaining international recognition - on the playlist of 28 international radio stations and getting support from the likes of Yam Who, Ame,, French Rivera, DJ Nori etc. - while "Give" is another quality slice of slow disco with pop sensibilities - a very catchy groove and an irresistible melody line that will creep under your skin and stay there for months. On the remix tip, Messalina edit maestro Lucci Capri delivers a housed up Larry Heard inspired remix of "Tease and Burn" with a great jazzy sunset feel and looped guitar hooks - essential for lovers of the White Isle. Athens-based duo Bonnie & Klein take on remix duties for "Give" and the result is a modern Chic/Talking Heads style affair not far from Erol Alkan's recent remix of Kindness.
