Boogie Café vinyl release number 4 gets back to Funk with this 3-track wax of heavy, dancefloor bombs.
First up we've got Jimmy The Twin with 'Get Up'; Now while the sample on this is obvious, the rework most certainly is not. Raw percussion, off-key synths and a subtle sub, all come together to make this something altogether new. Cheesy remix or a Dubby uptempo Funk You decide ; ) One things for sure... this ain't no wedding tune. Flip it over for two killers from Shanghai resident Laura Ingalls (The Horses). 'Party Down', continues the fun with six and a half minutes of thumping Disco, driving bass, and a killer hook ...totally contagious. And last up we have 'Hey Uh, What You Say' - a solid rework of a lesser-played classic; a little slice of Connoisseur's Soul with a sprinkling of peak-time magic.

It's been nearly 3 years since the last MODE 'Lo Fi Odyssey' release on Codek Records and it's been worth the wait. What we got here are 2 excellent tracks, very melodic with a superb production.

Play the Game is 12 min of Balearic bliss. It's the kind of tune that makes me imagine sitting near the beach and sipping frozen Margaritas and playing it on loop.. watching girls go by. Although the Vibe is very mellow, at 115bpm it goes well with any of the current Nu Disco/Deep House releases.

On the flip side is the track You don't Know which i had in my CD bag for almost 4 years, since Daniel Mode gave me a demo copy and i have played it out on many occasion and it always delivered on the dance floor. Now for this release MODE exchanged all the plug in synth with his beloved Juno 6 and it sounds so smooth!

Roadside Edits are back, their first 12" was a very limited pressing, and it sold out faster than moonshine back in the prohibition days, so they have repressed it, and for good measure they have added their foot stomping edit Moonshine on the A side, its a liquid disco funk hoe down thigh slapping drunken stomp, funky and slide guitars, the odd brass stab here and there, throw in a bit of organ with some chunky pianos, add some guy laughing and we are good to go.

B1 gets going with a funky disco cosmic groover with some wicked wah wah guitar, strings, effects, cool synths and tight drums, all bound to get them moving on the dance floor.
B2 groove is so infectious with some sweet harmonica solos, tight bass and soaring strings that lifts this track and the crowd to cloud

Joel Martin and Gerry Rooney first surfaced as Velvet Season & The Hearts Of Gold back in 2012 with the first of three salacious 12"s for Lucky Hole Records that really got the refined disco lovers hot under the collar.
Following a smattering of remix commissions and a wonderful debut for Resista, Velvet Season & The Hearts Of Gold rear back into view with Witch Doctor Love, a two track 12" of late night voodoo dancefloor material issued by Love Circle. The title track is a chunk of tough and moody house music, all sleazy whispered vocals and trippy electronics; the results are nothing less than intoxicating. Complementing this, "Fish Powder Dance" sees the pair's disco influences come to the fore on a superb fusion of classic strings, vocal harmonies, and joyous basslines over a bumping early '90s house groove.

After months of musical celibacy, LeSale returns to Luvshack with his "In Command EP" - featuring a set of disco drenched original tracks and a remix by New York native JacquesRenault!
The title track "In Command" is a modern disco piece with all the necessary ingredients; warm piano chords, lush strings, a funky synth bassline and the lovely lead vocals byMavin (Manhooker / Unterton) and background vocals by Marie-Éve Desjardins. The
track holds a clever balance between uplifting dancefloor attitude and song structure, making it a worthy addition to daytime and disco sets. For straight dancefloor actionthere's the "Dub Mix" (exclusively on vinyl) that stripps down the original with sparse
vox but full instrumental! Aditionally, Jacques Renault (Lets Play House/NY) steps in as a remixer and delivers a
haunting beach house rendition that evokes strong late 80's/early 90's house feelings.Etheral strings, hushed vox and the cut up piano delicately sit on top of an almost tribalbeat - it's an hypnotic affair."Disco Leviathan" is a genuine boogie rollercoaster that builds around a heavy bassline,chopped disco vox and a cheeky synth sample that's thrown in for good measure. As the track evolves, Juno pads add a cosmic feel that'll probably make the most renitent people want to shake a leg! Last but not least there's LeSale's cunningly titled "Panorama Bra". With its dry beat and bassline, it's probably the most house infused original on the EP, but once the Piano kicks in, it opens up to become a veritable new-disco ride, only to close with a somewhat nasty synth arpeggio.

Given the inflated prices being charged online for original copies of Lord of The Isles' 2011 breakthrough release, Ultraviolet, it's nice to see Adult Contemporary giving it the reissue treatment. In hindsight, Neil McDonald's original version - a hybrid of Italo-influenced nu-disco and Balearic deep house - contains many of his now familiar trademarks; think intoxicating melodies, immersive production and an innate ability to tease maximum emotion from a dancefloor-focused groove. Flip to the B for something of a surprise treat: a previously unreleased rework from McDonald that takes the track more towards dreamy deep house territory - whist retaining the disco shuffle of the original - via cascading synthesizer melodies and heady vocal samples.

Hell Yeah Recordings are pleased to present a brand new 12" by Giorgio Giri and Marco Lentano aka Mushrooms Project, a DJ and production duo that has been turning out great 12"s and one full length since 2009 for labels like Leng, Is It Balearic, Uber.
Their worldly disco sound is infused with all sort of influences from ambient to house, pop to psychedelia... guess why Hell Yeah team loves them... The Rio Disco EP features three cuts. The first is Rio Disco 84, a blissed out ambient cut with trilling guitars, lush pads and lots of seaside atmospheres. Organic hand drums and golden strings ensure it will have you fully horizontal before the end. Then comes an acoustic reprise of the same track, which is even more stripped back and beautiful, and then it's Rio Disco 94. This one is driven by flabby bass and deep, soft, rolling drums. Bird calls, breaking waves and languorous wind instruments all sooth your mind and soul as the track unfolds perfectly patiently.

With tickering hi-hats leading the first tracks on both side A & B Skymax enters a familier Finnish sounding disco (and part rock) sphere with kraut elemtents, synth-bass, a DJ Sotofett dub, a tango-fied slow machine ballad and a beatless 80s soundtrack conclusion to round it off. It has that utterly great and little-bit-hard-to-swallow Finnish quality stamp.

The Far Out Monster Disco Orchestra, Far Out's 20th anniversary disco project, released its double LP last year. It features the arrangements of Azymuth's late Maestro José Roberto Bertrami and the legendary Arthur Verocai alongside a host of other Brazilian musical icons. FOMDO011 is the latest in a series of vinyl only 12" remixes and edits on Far Out. Previous producers providing their re-works to the series include Theo Parrish, Marcellus Pittman, Mark Pritchard, 4hero, Isoul8, LTJ Xperience and more.

Unreleased material from the Far Out Monster Disco Orchestra vaults. 'Step Into My Life' sees the elite of Brazil's jazz, funk and samba musicians come together in a scorching disco blaze. Brought to light by the deft touch of NYC disco king John Morales, who channels the joyous hedonism synonymous with the late 70's Paradise Garage and Studio 54 era to create two tight, punchy and dubbed-out floor fillers. Morales himself is a veteran of that era, alongside the pioneering likes of Larry Levan, Francois K and Tom Moulton, a key player in the development of the remix and its wider proliferation in clubs across the globe. Using a classic cut and paste technique with reel to reel tapes, Morales helped transform classics by the likes of Jocelyn Brown, Class Action and Shalamar, extending disco gems to nearly double their running time, emphasising and intensifying their emotion and drama in the process. His certified disco credentials make Morales the perfect man for the job of remixing this alternately classic and modern disco cut, marrying dance music's past and future in a thrilling blend while simultaneously bringing the supreme musicianship and beautiful arrangements of Betrami and Verocai to the fore. A future classic Brazilian disco masterpiece!

New label Radiant Records has enlisted Roadside Edits to deliver a couple of dance floor bombs.
We get the ball rolling with a stomping harmonica driven delight, seems the boys like a bit of harmonica, and who could blame them, this one just keeps chugging on, building and building, with the occasional atmospheric breakdown, impossible to sit down to this one.....FACT.
On the flip we have a much more polished affair with crazy moog synth lines and trumpet solos galore, another crowd pleaser for sure.

Japan Blues strikes back with another set of edits. Meticulously picked, chopped up, and ready to go for the after hours crew.

After the success of his debut album 'Back In Flight School' on Hot Creations, Miguel Campbell has spent the last three years living in Ibiza, dividing his time between touring and the studio. Since returning to his hometown of Leeds last year, his production output has been prolific, with a slew of original tracks and remixes coming through his own Outcross Records imprint, the same label that will release forthcoming second artist album, 'Night Drive Without You' on 11th December in both double pack vinyl and digitally.

Referencing the style of some of his early work and featuring a variety of both vocal and instrumental cuts, the disco-tinged layers of all 15 tracks make a firm nod towards the French touch scene of the late 90s and early 2000s, but despite the retro influences, Miguel's skill here lies in creating a body of work that sounds both fresh and futuristic. Rumbling basslines and glossy, electro synths combine perfectly on the future-facing 'Melody of Love', while on final track 'Light and Darkness' he demonstrates a similar balance; incorporating computerised vocal, underpinned by heavy bass licks - the airy vocal countered by the weight of the low end.

Vocal tracks on the album feature the talents of both Benjamin Diamond, who appeared on Stardust's 'Music Sounds Better With You' and frequent collaborator Beccs Lott, joining Miguel on 'Not That Kind of Girl' and more recently on his 'Free Falling' EP. 'Run With Me' in particular showcases the synergy between the pair on a track full of verve and bounce, while on 'Interfunk Music', he joins forces with Diamond to cosmic, spaced-out effect, with Diamond's hazy, hollowed-out tones adding a new dimension to the record.

A natural extension of 'Back In Flight School', 'Night Drive Without You' is built to take listeners on an abstract, heartfelt journey through a mix of house, funk, jazz and disco - a fluid collection of styles that are now a hallmark of Miguel Campbell records. Bold and exciting, it's an album ready to make its mark.

Sol Power Sound is proud to present the Color Soul EP by Obas Nenor. After a huge year with releases on legendary Strictly Rhythm and Moodymann's Mahogani Music, the Tel Aviv producer blesses Sol Power Sound with a four-song EP of thick Afro-disco, bumping house, and twisted techy grooves.

The EP opens with Let's Go, a brawny peak-time banger with chugging drums, rolling bass, spooky synths, and a few dusty samples.

Hotel Room started in, you guessed it, a hotel room in Accra, Ghana with a suitcase full of newly acquired Ghanaian percussion instruments. Obas Nenor finished it off with catchy vocal chops, synth melodies, guitar, and chatted vocals by Soma. It's an infectious mid-tempo groove and a Sol Power favourite.

NoNooZa is a deceptively rugged Afro-disco / house hybrid full of heavy Sonics and texture. After a gradual build, NoNooZa morphs into a tough-as-nails dance floor bomb.
Obas Nenor fittingly describes Tribe Tribute as Afro-tech. The EP closer is packed with deeeeeeep late night vibes that will move a heady room well into the morning.

Kolour LTD back once again featuring Alex Agore with a remix by man of the moment - TORNADO WALLACE Coming off appearances on the wildly popular Undertones 'Raw is the Truth' EP coupled by another smashing release on 4-Lux - Alex Agore returns in fine form with 3 classic style house joints as only he can do!

Norm De Plume enrols Rotterdam based Ben La Desh for a joint 4-track EP (vinyl-only). There's an original track from each of them with both producers swapping remixes to round off this uniquely collaborative release.

A1 Roll On sees Norm De Plume move into deeper territory - gone is the cut & loop sampling in favour of his own musical composition comprising simple synth melodies & chugging synth chords layered over organic, dusty drum patterns & a rolling bass line. The track then breaks to introduce a transposed extended bridge which builds and grooves along to the same 3 note melody, before dropping back to the original key & groove and the final outro section. Simple but effective we're sure you'll agree!
A2 Lotion is a return to the deep, slo-mo sounds of Ben La Desh at his finest. Tight, grooving drums support layer upon layer of lush pads and syncopated synth & guitar lines - all underpinned by a rumbling bassline with a beautiful jazz vocal on top that's both pretty and sad at the same time.
B1 Lotion (Norm De Plume Remix) Norm's take on Ben's original is sparse and deep, an extended intro featuring his signature hard-hitting & swinging drums supporting a lovely running guitar line from the original, present throughout. Things take a slightly dark turn with the introduction a heavily effected organ, before the bass drops and the track reveals itself in full.
B2 Roll On (Ben La Desh Remix) Ben's mix has his typical deep & tropical vibe. He's managed to retain the swinging and rolling feel of the original perfectly with his drums & synth parts but also introduced a melodic breakdown and running synth parts which both add a special & extra dimension.

The Kachiri Remix EP features a varied selection from some of the finest. Kicking off with Tronik Youth who takes the title track and reboots into a harder darker groove, pushing the synths to breaking point. Man Power ignites a fire on the dancefloor with real bass and spacey chords. Ivan Smagghe creates an off kilter eclectic groove with a different energy. Jamie Patton dubs out Pink Ghost with a twisted and warped groove that takes it to a new cosmos. Whilst, Kasper Bjorke takes us down to the sea with his love vibes and tropical rework of Volupia. Craig Bratley adds his dark synths and toughened grooves for late night dance floors. Two Mamarrachos lead us on an epic 11 minute journey with their massive Pink Ghost funk groove.

Berlin based duo Africaine 808 will release their debut album 'Basar' via NY imprint Golf Channel (home to Mark E, Juju & Jordash and DJ Nature) in January next year.

'Basar' pushes their divine blend of West African bass and rhythms, disco, island-funk and house to newer heights. Their deep and timeless debut is about 'Freedom and Freedom only' and is an album that reaches for the party Arthur Russell was talking about when he said 'I wanna see all my friends at once.'

Africaine 808 are Dirk Leyers, formerly one half of Closer Musik, and Berlin DJ and established artist Nomad. The pair met in Berlin at the city's annual summer techno demonstration Fuckparade in 2000, where they caught the infamous 'Techno Viking' scene live as it unfolded. Nomad got his first drum aged 6 years old, from a church collective yard sale. Now an avid collector of African influenced musical styles, from South African Shangaan to Westafrican Funk, his rhythmic quest has lead him to study and explore African and world music for almost 3 decades. The Africaine 808 project grew out of Nomad's Vulkandance parties, a melting pot of African, Latin, and Caribbean club music.

The title 'Basar' comes from the ancient term for 'oriental marketplace", a place to experience a multitude of impressions with your senses. Like an exotic marketplace, 'Basar' is filled with different sights and sounds around every corner. From the deep and mystical 'NGONI' which takes West African music to the rave with wobbling bass and hints of 90s ethno-dub to the killer squirmer of a bassline on 'Language of the Bass ft. Alex Voices' which keeps things heavy but nimble whilst recapturing UK bass histrionics. The smokey, soulful tones of OFRIN on 'Ready For Something New' offers a mystical downbeat gem. Whereas 'Basa Basa' takes it back to the dancefloor for a sweaty rhythmic number that bounces off the walls with it's tribal funk groove. Recent 12' single 'Rhythm Is All You Can Dance' also makes an appearance, wedding funk, earthy rhythms and frenzied African grooves to the gurgle of an 808.

The duo made their debut back in 2013 with 'Tummy Tummy', which featured on Will Speculators W.T. Recordings compilation "DJ MUSCLE." The following year Golf Channel put out "Lagos New York." Pairing New York flecked disco with West African bass and rhythms, "Lagos New York" made for one of 2014's most essential electronic releases.

Having found the right home with one of the best labels (and parties) in New York City, the Berliners debut album 'Basar' has the feeling of an essential piece of music all over - a big, brooding, emotional and uplifting record that you can dance, laugh and cry to.

"6 E.P.I" is the first vinyl E.P. taken from upcoming Headman/Robi Insinna Album "6" to be released in September via Relish. On "6" Robi decided to collaborate with friends and fellow artists whom he worked with in the past or liked as artists.

Good Ratio Music looks deep into the brume and strikes gold with the first EP from Carlo on the imprint. Forget Me Not is a record that plays directly into one of the strengths of the artist: melting a coherent whole from ephemeral parts. Carlo keeps it rather fiercely on the house grooves, creating a far out sound with his fluent pulse and motif-based melodic improvisations. A unique sound that makes this three tracker remain to him at any spot. On the flip side Kresy delivers a solid remix of the main track, Forget Me Not. Where he tames the wild things and crowns himself as their king.

Messalina Records return with a superb collection of Balearic rarities lovingly re-edited by Lucci Capri. Kicking off is the brilliant reggae tinged slo-mo funk groove of 'Madness & Judgement' taken from an obscure German LP followed by a superb extended instrumental edit of the uber rare 7' 'Atlantis' from 1979, a dreamy Balearic gem with added keys and horns by Lucci. Flip over for the stretched-out DJ-friendly 'Paradise Pastime' a killer Calypso disco remake of the Stevie Wonder classic, followed by 'Say Sayonara', a beautiful synth soundscape with cool vocals from Japan and finally an extended floor-filling edit of an impossible to find 7' B side from Brazilian boogie dons Robson & Lincoln. Top quality!

Inaugurating his new label and with his focus firmly on the dance floor, Brighton-based Nathan Pope, aka Antenna Happy, turns in two essential new tracks.
On the A-side is Rotor - driving arpeggios and a pulsating bassline lay the foundations before giving the space to emotive pads from a bygone era.
Late takes the B-side - fragmented warehouse memories jostle for position in this atmospheric cut designed for the small hours.
With a number of remixes already out, a single on Tenth Circle to be released in May, another 12" due on LA imprint Reinhardt in June, alongside various live gigs, 2015 is already proving to be a busy year for this innovative producer.

We are very pleased to announce the fourth Optimo Disco Plate. What was only really ever meant to be an imprint for a one-off release appears to have developed into a fully fledged label in its own right. Sex Judas delivers the latest Disco Plate, and while I attempt to work out how to pronounce the title of the A1 track on this EP, I'll let him tell you a little about himself and this release.

Sex Judas feat. Ricky started up a few years ago to channel an anonymous Norwegian producer's love for comics, political satire, music history, eroticism and above all electronic music. Imagine Damon Albarn's Goriliaz' project on acid or the musical versions of The Fabulous Furry Freakbrothers on, well whatever they are on. Portrayed as a classic twosome, infant terrible, Sex Judas and his trusted sidekick Ricky come across as some kind of musical nomads with a hippy take on life.

Musically it's all over the place, but the essence of jamming and the love for African American music shines thru. Inspiration is taken from German psychedelic rock, deep southern disco, rhythm and blues, classic house and techno, also taking a key from the avant-garde.

So, what's cooking Fresh from finishing his trilogy of ep's on Tim Paris Marketing Music, Sex Judas moves on to Optimo's Disco plate series with a golden slice of deep modern disco.

Pope naked the first' steps up the energy level a notch. Over a modern piece of rhythm and blues, tongue in cheek Judas and Ricky imagines the Pope strolling down the street with his Siamese gato sucking on a gelato.

And look, you even get Rob and Ricky's acid rerub thrown in for good measure. This 12" comes with a special 12 x 12 printed insert.

After The Very Polish and The Very Soviet Cut-Outs, Zambon continues his endless trip around Eastern Europe with another excursion.Now it's time to follow him and dive deep into dance music of former Yugoslavia.
The very first volume of the brand new The Very Yugo Cut-Outs exposes a little known scene of editors based around the cult club 20/44 in Belgrade, Serbia.
A duo of DJs and producers called Kompleks is responsible for three edits here, while the label boss Zambon supplies the last one. Tracks range from poppy new wave of Jakarta group from Serbia, through psychedelic rock of Seid Memic aka Vajta from Bosnia, Yugo boogie of Kim Band from Serbia/Macedonia and sleazy synthpop of Videosex group from Slovenia.
The unique vibe and amazing skills of Yugoslavian musicians from the rich and unfortunately still little known scene are guaranteed to move both you and your local dancefloor.

Sources is a brand new series which will examine the output of a number of extremely influential independent U.S. labels throughout the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s.

In an age where corporate anonymity reigns supreme and music is being treated like aural wallpaper, the Sources series will go back to a time when record labels really meant something via their A&R policies, their ground-breaking releases, their everyday modus-operandi and their general philosophies. What made these operations unique How did they manage to compete with the major companies How did they protect their artist rosters What sort of people ran these operations and how did they manage to survive in the cut-throat music business

Bill Brewster, co-founder of the influential DJ History website and forum and author of the acclaimed 'Last Night A D.J. Saved My Life' will be compiling and writing the sleeve notes for the series. The first six releases will concentrate on 6 New York independent labels which have each been massively influential in the evolvement of Dance Music over the last 30+ years - Easy Street, Sleeping Bag, Fresh, Sam, Streetwise and P&P.

Each package will be full of lovingly re-mastered original 12' mixes as selected by Bill. You can be sure that a variety of 'secret weapons' will emerge from each of these packages!

The first Sources package comes from one of the most consistent underground dance labels in history - East Street Records from New York. Easy Street hit the ground running in the early 1980s with the uptempo break dancing gem, Hot Streak's 'Body Work'. However, the real story of Easy Street was their consistent ability to gauge the mood of the dance-floor with numerous HUGE underground classics which read like a who's who of dance music history over the last 3 decades - Paul Simpson, Todd Terry and Blaze are just a handful of the names which have graced the Easy Street label over the years. The underground hits poured out relentlessly - 'Main Thing', 'Share The Night', 'Ma Foom Bey', 'You Don't Know', 'Treat Her Sweeter', 'Saturdays' and 'Deeper' to name a handful, all of which are included on here. An essential package for anyone who wants to re-experience the culture of the New York dancefloors throughout the last three decades via one of the hippest labels in dance music history. A year has just ended for him as well, with some notable EPs on labels like 4Lux, Housewax and Fragil Music. On this particular EP, the first track « For One Day » is sensual and bewitching. The original bassline structure gives it a very good roundness. The rhythm develops with a lot of form and firmness. Och shares a very personal version of this track with undeniable techno accents. On his second track Mome goes back to basics with a track lying somewhere between Raw House and Old School, with a jazzy spirit, His aim is simple : to fill the dance floor.
The remix offered by the very talented Jonas Sella is a good example of originality and intricacy. The track takes you between Micro-House and Dancefloor. He develops a very original structure : warm and heavy with high trebles. THis EP will give you a complete journey of exploration through all the current sounds of electro underground.
