Donna Summer and Kon are from the same Boston neighborhood... Dorchester. So it's only right Kon reworks one of her biggest floor fillers.
As usual Kon keeps things true to the original but with that futuristic twist, sounding big for the parties of today.
Kon sets it off with a big drum break intro that builds into a vocal drop, kicking back into the groove and again with a few more breakdowns.
The flip side dub is brought to us by Kon's right hand man "Caserta" who kicks it off with a big piano build and really stretches things out giving this song's bass line some serious shine, a stone groove no doubt.. both sides doing damage on the floor.

Emotional Rescue starts a series of reissues from the Carribean that will move minds and feet in equal measure. First up is the mento / ska star Laurel Aitken, here turning out 2 killer disco reggae jams with the crazily-sought after Sexy Boogie and a re-edit of Hoochie Coochie Man. Born in Cuba in 1927, growing up in Jamaica before moving to London in 1960, Laurel Aitken is rightly remembered for the breadth of his musical styles and career, from stand out calypso and mento to killer ska releases for the likes of Blue Beat and on to all forms of reggae. Tucked away in a cannon of literally hundreds of Aitken's recordings is this one off release, the 1978 disco inflicted Hoochie Choochie Man 12", with the killer Sexy
Boogie on the flip. Long a word of mouth for both reggae and the more leftfield disco diggers, prices have seen recent copies go for well over 3 figure sums. All fully licensed and remastered for reissue, here Sexy Boogie is moved to be the rightful main cut. Some 7 minutes of rolling, twisted disco reggae, with chop guitar, stabbed piano, an essential and relentless (wonky) groove, plus Laurel's trademark silk tones, here used as a mantra for the dancefloor. Now moved to the B side, Hoochie Choochie Man is handed over to Soft Rocks mainman Piers Harrison for his editing expertise. Scapel in hand, the (and oft annoying) vocals are cut to allow the flanged guitar, hammond keys and drum and bass rhythm to just swing and ride to distraction.

IIB reach their 40th release with label stalwart Max Essa's latest EP. Feel The Machine is a proto-house groove with touches of italo-disco. Chugging bassline and cowbells making it a real dancer. Panapolean Dreamer is a more downtempo beat driven affair with eastern strings on a mellow new beat vibe. The second side starts with Tall Shadows Walking Home. Having previously plied their wares on Is It Balearic and Los Grandes, Spanish nu-Balearic sorts Two Mamarrachos pop up on another suitably horizontal imprint, dependable Leeds label Joe's Bakery. There style is sun-kissed by druggy, with opener "Al Andalus" offering an exotic, chugging blend of foreboding, low-slung grooves and Arabic synthesizer melodies. "Super Disco Dancer" delves deep into the box marked "experimental analogue electronic disco", with heady, spaced-out synthesizers sprawling all over a typically atmospheric, cosmic groove. "Let Feel Higher" is, arguably, the most Balearic of the three, with warm acoustic guitars and delay-laden gospel vocal samples creating a suitably toasty, glassy-eyed mood.

One of the UK's most enigmatic bootleg labels returns for its fourth installment of dancefloor bombs and feel good hits. Following the trail blazed by early bootleg pioneers such as Ron Hardy and John Morales, BoogieFuturo presents two instant classics for the edits hall of fame.

'Give Me Some Emotion' features an expertly amped-up sample of a particularly well-known female vocalist (we don't want to give too much away now). 'Lovin' Spree' continues the Boogifuturo tradition of tasteful edits. Neil Diablo loops an infectious guitar hook with the addition of low growling synths and Rhodes keys, to build the track into a crescendo timeless disco strings, chant-along vocals and killer Sax solos. An underground classic on the disco scene but never reaching the heights of commercial success, Diablo presents an edit to give this forgotten record new life.

First up is 'Sexy Sexy, an obscure 7' track which has been a secret weapon for discerning DJs for a while and is here stretched out into a real floor-filler. Next comes 'French Jones', a hard-to-find B-side that used to get a lot of airplay back in the day but somehow got forgotten along the way - now this KBE edit brings the track bang up to date. Another rare Italo Disco treasure discovered by Flashback records ! .The track is an old composition of Renato Spinetti and the original version has been released only on a mix of Video Star compilation. limited 300 copies press. 200 copies on black vinyl and 100 on white vinyl .
"Sisma - Give Me A Dance" (FLA 1001) is an old composition by Renato Spinetti and was originally recorded in 1983 for Video Star. The original version has been released only on a sought-after "Touch of Class" compilation (by Tanga Music). The track has been now re-arranged and re-recorded by Steve (Juno Gang) and Feratho by keeping the sound early 80s styled. The vinyl will include a vocal version and an instrumental dub + a bonus instrumental track on the B-side.

6th Borough Project are back with the follow up to their 2011 debut One Night In The Borough. A hectic couple of years have been lived out by Graeme Clark and Craig Smith during the making of this LP with Graeme continuing to play week in and week out as Revenge and setting up his new imprint Roar Groove whilst Craig has established the brilliant Fifty Fathoms Deep label. Studio time has been tight to say the least but that
hasn't stopped the duo from pulling out all the stops and ensuring that this LP surpasses the already sky-high benchmark set by it's predecessor. Followers of 6th Borough Project will be pleased to hear that all the low-slung, loopy, hypnotic vibes we've come to
expect are present and correct whilst the duo have still made sure to push things forward with their sound, bringing a minimalist, housier edge to many tracks.

Things kick off with the Intro setting the mood, coming on like a bizarre dream that's over in a flash but seems to include an entire episode of your life and succeeds in encapsulating the sentiment of the entire LP in 40 seconds! Soul, Beach, City, Gig, Party,

On Our Love we find a brilliantly lop-sided shuffling groove laying the foundation for some classic 6BP-style vocal chops, easing us in gently with the warm up vibes. LEGENDARY BBC RADIO DJ ANNIE NIGHTINGALE CELEBRATES HER 50TH YEAR IN BROADCASTING

Very few can lay claim to the kind of legacy created by Annie Nightingale. Best known as the first female DJ on the BBC, she is also Radio 1's longest serving broadcaster, and holds the world record for the longest ever running radio show.

Throughout her 50-year career, Annie has always specialised in championing underground music, staunchly supporting artists from classic rock and pop, through new wave, acid house, breakbeat, grime, trap and much more. Ever refusing to compromise her taste, she describes the personal value of her selections, saying: 'if I couldn't choose the music I played, I wouldn't want to do it at all'.

Most evident from Annie's career is her commitment to the musical culture of the UK. She says that 'we actually have quite a responsibility to keep our standards, because for such a tiny country we, you might say, punch above our weight musically. Hearing British invasion music when I was very young changed my life - I thought: I have to be in music somehow''.

This commitment has led to all manner of accolades including an MBE, an honorary Doctor of Letters at the University of Westminster, and a unique 'Gold Award' at the Sony Radio Academy Awards in 2011. As a key figure in the history of British broadcasting, she remains an ambassador for The Princes' Trust and patron of Sound Women, an organisation which promotes women in broadcasting.

Outside of radio, Annie has proved just as influential, hosting the classic BBC2 music show 'The Old Grey Whistle Test'. Annie also continues to DJ live at festival mainstays and high profile gigs around the world, including regular appearances at Glastonbury, Bestival and Sziget Festival. She has even appeared in a special show at The Royal Festival Hall alongside Goldie to celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee, in which she spun and narrated the story of 60 years of popular music.

Her work is now due to be celebrated with two documentaries on Radio 2, airing on 15th and 22nd July, as well as with a special compilation released by Ministry of Sound - part of their 'Masterpiece' series. The series represents an opportunity for highly respected, pioneering acts to curate a three-disc musical journey of their influences and inspirations.

Past editions speak volumes about the quality of the series, compiled by the likes of Armand van Helden, Goldie, David Rodigan, Andrew Weatherall, and Gilles Peterson. Annie's compilation is an effort to document her own impact on British music over the last 50 years.

Such is her impact that a number of her great heroes of the British invasion - The Byrds, The Who, Paul McCartney, Prodigy and The Rolling Stones - have all agreed to share their music in this special collection. In the case of the latter, this will be their first appearance on any compilation not exclusively featuring their own tracks. In bringing together such a diversity of artists - all of whom she helped break to a mainstream audience - Annie leads the most fitting tribute to a peerless career.

ptimo Trax is an offshoot label of Optimo Music for tracks aimed at DJs/dancefloors. Yes, we know there are too many record labels already, but we felt an overriding desire to start another one as so much music that didn't seem quite right for Optimo Music (i.e. music that was specifically designed for dancing) kept coming our way. Like the parent label, Optimo Trax will release music by new artists and excavate forgotten classics.

The next two Optimo Trax releases are from Milan. This first one is four HOT tracks from two self-effacing Milanese maestros. "Acido" is already shaping up to be a club classic and never fails to cause a commotion; it has been thoroughly road tested throughout summer 2013. The other tracks cover all idiosyncratic bases from high grade Sleaze Funk to Spaghetti Western-infused, low-slung house.

Uber picked up this beautiful mellowed out pop song by Shining Bird for a vinyl release after becoming totally captivated by its warm laid back Balearic feel. Shining Bird hail from Austinmer a coastal town just south of Sydney, Australia. They are a collective of friends who got together over their love of the sea, Australian cinema, Dennis Wilson's "Pacific Ocean Blue" Lp and the great Australian poet Henry Lawson. The second track Stitzing/Wipeout is another great alternative pop song in the same vein as Destroyer with the song blending into a 5 min piece of psyched out ambient. On the flip side Coyote remix Distant Dreaming into a horizontal percussion led dubby contemplative trip with pitched down vocals and a throbbing bassline. Uber continuing its crusade of finding and releasing music that captures their Balearic ethos.

The mysterious Usio project first showed its bewitching janus-face in 2013 with the release of Kuwa Huru, a star-striking collection of electronic blues for the dance floor that also constituted the first full-length album to appear on Studio Barnhus. Kuwa Jasiri is a follow-up and an appendix and something entirely new - these four tracks stem from intense rehearsals of Usio's emotive, energetic live show (coming soon, if you're lucky, to a dark basement/dewy forest floor near you). The breezing funk of opening track Gonna Make It, the freakish stomp of Planet Dust, Over The Andes in all its precipitous acid-jammin' glory and contemplative, elegant closing track Pamoja have all captivated us at Studio Barnhus. It's a beautiful night outside so we thought it might be time to let these birdies fly.

Herman Prime's debut 12', 'Maajo' is a beautiful ode to spring and new birth. "Maajo" pays homage to Nigerian music, with its borrowed vocals from juju style's King 'Sunny' Ade. The track has a house foundation, which shows in its fat kick drums and sub bass groove, while the hypnotic Rhodes melody harkens to early minimal electronic pioneers such as Manuel Göttsching.

The B-side, 'Maajo (Take Four)', is a track of its own, a mutant revision of the emotional original. This version is not just a slightly altered copy but an electronic dub that takes the original to a completely different direction. Talking drums and a polyrhythm structure maintain the dreamy, Nigerian feel, but the dystopic, detuned synths have the scent of an underground techno bunker.

Jon Thureson, alias Herman Prime, has been open-mindedly DJing and producing music for 15 years. He has a broad understanding of musical language which helps him to infuse his various influences. With his strong background in house and disco, Jon often reaches beyond the limits of both genres towards new frontiers. His love affair with West African styles and electronic Krautrock shows on 'Maajo'.
