Mosco fell asleep in Tel Aviv and awoke days later in Berlin. This is his first offering for the ESP Institute. On side A, 'Akachi' plows straight in with its relentless rolling bassline, a thick blanket enveloping any and all breathing room. An array of squelches and atonal pads struggle to rise above the trudging rhythm, while live percussion slides in and out of frenzy. On the flipside, 'Nobody Else' shows us Mosco's more ethereal side. Beautifully programmed drums draw us in as the accentuated hi-hats and claves elegantly pierce rhythmic synth work, until finally we're carried away by mystic keys layering in heavenly glissandos. These two songs will make you thirst for potent potions.

Especial is proud to announce a special release with 2 official remixes of the seminal afro-cosmic classic. With a nod to both the future and past, remixes come from NYC's drum-loop champ, Justin Van Der Volgen and is backed perfectly with Dusseldorf's mysterious tribal exponents, The Durian Brothers. When given the original masters by founder member Stefan Krachten, the conundrum was how to handle music that is a timeless classic. Most associated with the afro-cosmic scene, Masimbabele has actually been staple of DJs across the globe, so the remixes should look forward not not just back. Added to this, the recent sad passing of both Stefan and vocalist Reebop Kwaku Baah and the project has added poignancy. Therefore, the two artists asked to do 2015 remix updates were personal favourites of the label and also, capable of doing justice some 30 years after it was recorded. As a DJ, producer and remixer wunderkind, Justin Van Der Volgen's releases on the likes of Golf Channel, ESP Institute and TBD, plus killer remixes of !!!, Soft Rocks and most recently his doubleheader Todd Terje reworks, meant it was a must to have him involved on this project. Harking the original in many ways, his remix is a perfect homage. A crucial key change, plus subtle loops and arrangment make the right moves, allowing the instruments to build and build to the infamous horns and scat vocals interplay and on to crescendo. As a double A side, bringing The Durian Brothers in was the perfect foil. An art-music project, the band has released a series of EPs on their own Diskant label to cult appreciation. A big influence on how parent label Emotional Response was formed, the secretive trio have been drawn out to work with on their only ever remix, for a song that is an influential and important song in their own make up. To this end the band wanted to create a version that sees them jamming live with the original musicians, including a young Dominik Von Senger on guitar. Eschewing the vocals, the remix merges the Brothers poly-rhythmic percussion with the African influenced swing, guitar chops and horn stabs of the original. A perfect jam between the bands, but some 3 decades apart. Hope you enjoy.

We've reached the end. This is as far as the story tells the final recording by the artist(s) that kickstarted the Omena LTD series with the mini-album '1' early 2015.
Back in 1992, after extensive recording sessions, several releases albums that never pleased the major label and touring that led the members to become less friends and more enemies an unanimous decision led the members to put everything on hold.The final track ever recorded at Muscle Shoals Sound Studio was 'Paus' or as the late South African-born American recording engineer Phil Ramone described it - their masterpiece.
Listening back to the session it's evident the band was heading in a new direction, heavily inspired by Daniel Lanois and Sonia Pottinger. The use of horns, the synth bass and the way the drummer ties everything together is exceptional.
Due to the success with the two previous releases on OMLTD, the band decided to give the recording to Tooli but not only that, they also re-recorded some parts late 2014 (hence the name 141201). What you have here is something truly special and may or may not be the comeback everyone is waiting for.

NDV return from summer with their 2nd release which is a bloomin all star VA. The idea of the VA EP is to showcase the synthy housey technoey sound they're all about, and what better way to do it than give the vinyl over to some of the most freakishly talented producers out there.

Deep Space Orchestra headline the package, showing just what they can do, these guys offer up a big slice of chunky house, with a side of arp. Tim Vita and Oliver Gehrmann are welcomed into the NDV fold on this ep, an up and coming colab from Berlin who have a particularly UK sound to their productions, right up our street. 'Cat's Pianos' twists and turns really light up the record.

Fronting up on the B Side, James Welsh drops back into NDV after his stand out remix on the first EP. Weighing in with 'Leatherman', an original piece of pure mixed hot to tape - peak time carnage. For those of your who have caught Welshy over the past few years, you might recognise this one from his sets, a much waited for release.

Rounding off the EP Oli Furness pushes house on with an absolute banger - nothing standard about this EP.

Serious EP once more, some great names and they all deliver. DSO just about top the bill for me though, great production at a cool tempo. Love the main breakdown of Cats Piano, can't wait to see the reaction at night on a good soundsystem! James Welsh is throbbing, relentless, some of the percussion stabs remind me of French Kiss and I could see people losing themselves to this in a similar vein! Oli's new one may not be as balls-out banging as the last but it is a solid, deep groove...all in all a VERY dancefloor-friendly EP! Keep up the great work fellas!

Excellent house producer Marquis Hawkes goes Fifty Fathoms Deep on his debut for Houndstooth.

Since emerging in 2012, Hawkes has mostly released on Glasgow label Dixon Avenue Basement Jams, though he's also popped up on Clone's Jack for Daze series and Creme Organisation. Fifty Fathoms Deep features four new tracks from Hawkes, led by 'Can't Find a Reason', a current favourite in Ben UFO and Move D's sets

'In And Out Of Love' was released in 1983 on RAM Records. A tiny British label that ran between 1983 and 1985 with only 16 releases in its catalogue, half of which belong to UK Punks, The vibrators ('Baby, Baby' being their New York Dolls doing the Shangri-Las 1977 hit. I`ve no idea what they were doing in `84). A gated, growling, Electro-Funk, camp, sleazy sing along, created in a freak storm which crashed the Linn drum machine and blew up a TV. A track that could grind with Set The Tone`s 'Dance Sucker', Diggy Tal & The Numbers 'If It`s Love That You Want', and then 'Get A Little Love' from Angela. A track that as far as I know was gathering dust in countless bargain bins, lost, unappreciated, until Thomas Bullock used it as the finale to his Youtubed three-hour Just Jam master class in 2012. Post- Bullock all copies disappeared, a few resurfacing on the `Cogs this year for predictably silly prices.


'City Life' is one of the two releases on the Beau-Jolly label, dating from the following year. A handclapping, screaming, chase through breaking glass and slick `80s Pop videos. Uptown downtown. Red lipstick and white fur coats. Glamour, gangs, and boppers.

We are very happy to welcome our old friend Pablo Valentino for the second release of 2013. It is no coincidence if Pablo & Dairmount hooked up nearly 10 years ago when Pablo started his imprint Faces, dedicated to leftfield Black music influenced soundscapes rooted in Hip Hop culture. Both sharing a strong sense of underground activism, a deep love of the Black Music tree and a lovely obsession for futuristic sounds, it is no surprise that these two naturally decided to join effort under the Room with A View umbrella.

Pablo's beatmaker science & love of sampling have always been highly appreciated by Phil and it didn't take him long to fall in love with One at first listening. The track displays perfectly the dusty roughness of heavy disco grooves that Pablo likes to give to his House productions. Low key harmonies & catchy Soul & funk samples are no strangers in Pablo's world. True to a spirit reminiscent of the famous Raw Cuts serie of Motor City Drum Ensemble, it is again no surprise that Valentino has been a long time friend & collaborator of Danilo Plessow. Both through their Hipsta Wonkaz production duo (on Faces & Ubiquity) & Pablo's long running curation of Danilo's work on Faces & MCDE Recordings, both friends paved a unique & personal path.

As an A&R, Pablo has pushed the envelope with other unique sound scientists such as The Revenge, RedNose Distrikt or Grooveman Spot. In recent years, Pablo created the Creative Swing Alliance duo with Steven Joyce Ames with who the Strasbourg based omni-man signed brilliant works & remixes on respected labels such as Tsuba, Wolf Music, City Fly, Endless Flight, Quintessentials or K7.

Next up, Pablo's monster original received the magic treatment of Amsterdam's finest Detroit Swindle. One of the hottest dj & production units of the global House scene confirms here why labels like Freerange, Saints & Sonnets or Dirt Crew went bananas to sign their early work. The Dutch duo has made a spectacular & fast rise and is already in high demand all over the planet. Their inimitable blend of melodical grooves, jazzy chords and bumpy bass-lines seemed to be tailor made to translate a new school approach to Pablo's rooted original tune.

From the sun kissed shores of Brazil and the wonderful starlit nights of the Mareh Festival comes a new label, Mareh Music.

Mareh Festival was started by a small group of friends who's only aim was to escape the big city, take an amazing sound system to a remote and beautiful part of the country, and then party together with friends and great music. It has grown since into a week long annual event featuring international DJs playing alongside talented residents, and still has the same commitment to real quality and fun.

Mareh Music is born from the soundtrack to those parties, and is launched to mark the festival's tenth birthday.
So you can expect to hear beach bar boogie, disco-tinged dance floor movers and deep electronic groovers.

The first release on the label sees NYC legend Eric 'Dunks' Duncan dropping an electronic bomb of a cut that fuses disco and house elements into a serious dance floor work-out. The sound Dunks gets also has tinges of early electronic pioneers like Kraftwerk and Italo influences sitting side by side with more contemporary dance music flavours.
Over on the flip side, disco deviants Pete Herbert & Dicky Trisco deliver one of their irresistible dance floor shakers as they blend disco and house perfectly into a hybrid anthem-in-the-making. It has already been causing a storm all over Europe and beyond when it has been played in the clubs, and was actually started in a hotel room the day after the pair first played at Mareh.

- Reworks Vol. 4' is the second last issue of a whole series of stunning edits for the forgotten, Venezuelan producer and studio engineer Daniel Grau. DJs and producers like Daniel Wang, Max Graef, Ray Mang and Debonair have all completed their very own and personal interpretations of Grau's Tropical Cosmic Disco world for Sonar Kollektiv. Now works by Mark E, Fajra Fantasmo, Marcel Vogel and Jacques Renault succeed for this 4th issue. It's not the first remix Mark E has done for Sonar Kollektiv. But with all due respect to his previous achievements this edit of Grau's 'Combination' (off the 1981 album - Por Que No Podemos Hacerlo') is probably one of the most astounding things Mark Evett has perpetrated so far (by a hair's breadth behind his inofficial edit of Birth Control's 'Plastic People). Hynotic funk right on the bass drum with filter effects applied so perfectly that the party will get going at the latest when this track drops in.
The whistle-along tune - Con El Cielo En Tus Ojos' (off Grau's LP - El Leon Bailarin- ) is morphed by Fajra Fantasmo into most peculiar techhouse. We're all wound up to a high pitch to see how in the midst of a grimy DJ set this remix will set a grin of all the dancers faces by its jauntiness. By contrast New York based Jacques Renault opens up a jar of jam with his edit for 'Atlantis' and sets the mood right for a sugary sunset. And when it comes to unbridled funkyness who else the Amsterdam based Marcel Vogel would do a better job by editing 'Corre Caminos' (also off Grau's 'El Leon Bailarin' album) His restoration work shines with authenticity and accuracy for modern dance floors.
Daniel Grau can be quite proud of by who, and how his legacy has been worked with. Let's hope this is inspiration for him to produce even more, fresh, fantastic music.

Another killer, rare Disco offering from deep within the legendary West End Records vaults. Released in 1976 and mixed by the mighty Tom Moulton, this split 12" is one of the labels earliest releases and features two sumptuous, epic cuts from the initial wave of Disco 12"s.

Both tracks featured heavily on the play-lists of various cult NYC Disco jocks, including Larry Levan, David Mancuso and many more. Jakki's "You Are The Star" is a deep, funky journey for the dancers, while on the flip side, the Vince Montana Jr. produced instrumental version of Sounds Of Inner City's "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman" (A Disco ode to the cult 70's soap opera star) features.

A long sought after 12" by Disco fans for many years, this release has fetched top collectors prices on-line in the past. Now it has been made available again, re-mastered, re-pressed and re-released in conjunction with West End Records and featuring all original label artwork.

German master of funk and hip-hop nostalgia, Tito Wun - AKA Twit Uno - first released the feel-good sensation 'The Way U Do It' back in January 2013. The track's irresistible appeal and timeless potential have spun a set of beautiful remixes and edits from the likes of Jacques Renault, Damiano von Erckert and Doc Daneeka. These faithful reinterpretations of are available as a limited edition vinyl release on Defected Records.

Jacques Renault's edit brings the mood in and out of vintage radio frequencies to high-energy kicks and hi hats. Bursting with bouncing bass and powerful claps, Dimiano von Erkert's 1994 Rave Till Dawn Mix does exactly as advertised. The chopped vocals and almost haunting synth chords intertwine with the analogue breaks resulting in an absolute floor smasher. Taking advantage of the heavenly strings and super groovy bass line, Doc Daneeka's remix adds a collection of funky punches preserving the original disco atmosphere while managing to take it into a more festive area.

Daniel.T. has been subtly making waves over the past few years as one half of the LA duo Cosmic Kids with releases on labels including Throne Of Blood, Let's Play House and DFA.
A record collector and selector at heart, 2015 has seen him flesh out his solo productions with world-leaning contributions to Chit Chat's Brazilian tinged 12 and American Standard's African summer stunner.Young Adults brings Daniel into the fold for his debut Tetrachromat mini-LP spanning a sprawling spectrum of sounds, but unified by a signature West-Coast sheen.
Opener 'Mission Hill Morning' stretches its arms in the early AM mist, 'Tetrachromat' jogs steadily toward the horizon and 'Planetesimal' accelerates the MPH in the drop top down PCH.
On the flip, 'Laced' takes a smoke break down a dusty dirt road, 'Akoussah' sprinkles some sultry spice and 'The Sun & The Sky' sits back while the sea sips up the last remaining daylight.

The Brighton producer grew up listening to his parents enviable Steely Dan record collection and for his comeback outing on A&R has retouched the De La Soul-sampled classic, Peg. A tight circle of DJs have road tested this rework over recent times and we've been inundated with requests for its release.
In 1970, New York session drummer Bill Curtis merged the fatback jazz beat of New Orleans into a street funk band and signed his outfit to Perception Records.
Over the next decade, they incorporated jazz and disco into their signature funk style, before moving in an R&B direction in the '80s. During this period, American pop success proved elusive, but the group made regular appearances in the UK Singles Chart, hitting the Top Twenty three times with (Are You Ready) Do The Bus Stop', (Do The) Spanish Hustle' and I Found Lovin It's the latter, an anthem on the UK black music scene in 1984, that has been served up here by Fingerman, a staple at his Casablanca Jazz Club residency in Brighton and now available on wax for the first time.

Red Rack'em is a name well known to WOLF fans as he launched the first WOLF White release with his deep house classic 'In Love Again'. He is a master at reworking dusty grooves into peaking house bangers.
That is the best way to describe this EP too. 'Do or Die' is a straight up peak of the night disco jam.
Big sample, big bass, big track. 'Ooh Ooh Ooh' leans on the soulful side of his sample selections and its wonky but funky composition never fails to turn heads. The final track 'Live At Music Hall' is straight up DEEP. So, something for everyone, no messing.

A striking, six-footer with model and film star looks, Alison David commands attention with an enchanting, magical stage presence. She has had an extensive recording career, signed to Polygram, Sony BMG and Mercury Records and championed by various famous artists such as The Black Science Orchestra, Colin Firth, Pete Townshend (The Who), Dave Stewart (Eurythmics) and Nile Rodgers (Chic).
Hailing from Germanys largest urban agglomeration, the Ruhrgebiet district, Damiano von Erckert (AVA.) represents a growing breed of artists not bound by genre specific constraints. Raised near by and now residing in Cologne, his broad interest in a variety of musical spheres started young, growing up under the wing of his father, also a DJ, allowing him to accumulate a varied taste in House, Techno, Soul, Hip Hop, Funk, Afro and Disco.

Ben Sun returns for his third Delusions Of Grandeur release with this solid slice of raw, old school house entitled Tricks On Wax. The London-based producer has been on fine form recently, slowly but surely becoming a name to watch and joining the pool of amazing talent coming out of Australia at the moment. As the boss man of the vinyl-only label Voyeurhythm Ben has had a string of underground gems but isn't adverse to spreading his wings and knocking out originals and remixes for the likes of Quintessentials and Royal Oak.

Here on Tricks On Wax we find Ben in full on party mode, the lead track being a stomping Chicago-inspired cut taking a classic formula but cranking the heat up until it's sweat-dripping-off-the-walls time. For those with an aversion to saxophone in house music, get your listening gear round this lot and tell us this doesn't put a smile on your face. Flip over for Seven Sisters, a brilliant synth-heavy tribute to the early days of NYC house when the likes of Pal Joey, Jovonn and the Burrell Brothers ruled the dancefloors. Finally we have Special For You, which sees Ben drop the BPM's for a mid- tempo freestyle jam, heavy on the samples but still managing to inject the track with his own sound and coming up trumps in the process.

Another classic from the West End archives! Forrrce's "Keep On Dancin" from 1982 was a huge record across the board from Bronx block parties to the Paradise Garage in NYC and DJ Harvey's "Moist" nights in London town, it's popularity was bolstered by a fierce Francois K dub mix on the B-side that stripped the record right back to it's most basic elements with a healthy dose of reverb assisted psychedelia thrown in for good measure! This killer cowbell led Boogie jam has always been a big hit with Disco freaks and continues to sound fresh some 30+ years later even making it's way into veteran UK DJ and music historian Sean P's "100 Boogie Essentials 1980-1984" list. High praise indeed!

Defected presents FCL In The House is the first essential mix album of 2015, a two CD mix of classic and contemporary house music, including cuts from Larry Heard, Bob Moses, Seven Davis Jr. and Audiojack, as well as a handful of FCL exclusives.

FCL is the house project of Belgian DJ/producers San Soda and Red D, who, in 2012, released 'It's You', a club phenomenon that started life as a Panorama Bar-inspired DJ tool and went on to be one of the biggest house tracks of 2013. This year's follow up 'Can We Try' alongside stunning remixes of Audiojack and Kele Okereke (amongst others) proved similarly definitive, firmly placing FCL in the upper echelons of house music's elite.

Defected presents FCL In The House is the duo's first ever mix album, with both Red D and San Soda digging deep to deliver two distinct mixes indicative of their broad and discerning taste for quality house.

'If there was one thing we always wanted to do as DJs, it was to be asked for a mix compilation in which we would get total (house) freedom' says Red D of putting the mix together. 'We aimed for a DJ set filled with old and new tracks that you will want to come back to in 10 years' time'.

Copehagen's Music For Dreams are very proud to present new Swedish signing 55 Cancri e (aka Sara Hausenkamp). Born in 1989 in Malmö, this talented musician/artist started out learning classical guitar as a child before playing keyboard in different bands in her teenage years/early 20s. In 2013 she moved to Berlin and began playing keyboard/guitar/singing in electro duo 'naftik'. As well as music, she also expresses herself through illustrations, collages, photos, writing, painting, fanzine-making etc. and studied at the school of Comic Art in Malmö.
'55 Cancri e' is Hausenkamp's solo project started in the summer of 2014, an amazing six track mini album of perfect night music from outer space, tunes covered in diamonds - a melting pot of sensitive guitars, crying synthesizers, barking flutes, mellow wine glasses, combined with gorgeous organ/melodica and haunting voices. The end result is a beautiful, melancholic and stunning debut drawing comparisons to artists such as This Mortal Coil and Cocteau Twins... Limited vinyl with stunning original sleeve by the artist - definitely worth investigating.

Since launching in early 2014, the Hong Kong-based Homesick series - an offshoot of Cliche Records - has provided disco DJs with some of the strongest edits of recent times; reverential but floor-friendly reworks that get the right balance between re-mastered original parts and house-friendly additional beats. This third volume comes from Borrowed Identity, a house producer whose edits and productions have appeared on an impressive list of labels. These four reworks are predictably tidy, soulful and groovy, with familiar disco and soul staples being given loose but heavy rearrangements. Picking highlights is tough given the high quality threshold, but we're particularly taken with the vibraphone-laden party shuffle of "Run Run Run" and low-slung Afro-disco strut of "You Can't Change A Man".
