More abstract, forward thinking house music courtesy of Transatlantyk.'Mondo Hehe' is the fifth EP in a growing catalogue of the label and is one of its most adventurous offerings yet.
Lutto Lento (real name Lubomir Grzelak) is an experimental musician from Warsaw, Poland, who specialises in dark, spooky, uneasy music that's hard to categorise.
Apart from running two experimental cassette only labels (Sangoplasmo and DUNNO Recordings), Lutto Lento records music for contemporary theatre and forward thinking European labels like FTD and Where To Now
He is equally inspired by avant-garde and surreal sounds from the bygone eras as well as raw house and techno music of today. His music tends to absorb the listener into a parallel, imaginary world, where sounds of a lamenting cry of a trumpet (B2) and a voice counting numbers on top of the rolling exotica style bongos (A2) are as important as jacking Chicago house drums (B1) and energetic basslines (A3). From the jumping beats of the title track, to the late night deep roller 'Casino', the 'Mondo Hehe EP' is a superb collection of non-generic House music that sounds as good at a club, as it does at home.

Copenhagen label Music For Dreams is on fire at the moment with an excellent string of releases from 55 Cancri E, Golden Ivy, DJ Pippi, Leo Mas and Jacob Gurevitsch to name just a few and this new vinyl is no exception.
Greek producers Bonnie & Klein established themselves last year with tracks such 'Beautiful City' and 'Total Blue', both well on the way to becoming new Balearic classics. Madteo (aka Matteo Ruzzon) creates music whose understatement is overwhelmingly compelling. An Italian native who moved to New York City in the early '90s, Madteo has forged a production style that casts techno, house, and hip-hop in a gritty, stripped-down subterranean murk. His keen ear for unusual tonalities and his inventive tweaking of rhythmic tropes lend his music a functionality that feels anything but perfunctory. On the Strumpetrocracy EP, Madteo constructs a distinctive sound world that throws a very strange light on dance music. "Laissez-Faire Couture" instantly transports you to bizarre realms: Its off-kilter, midtempo funky beats haloed in swirling, celestial synth drones and angelic female swoons glow in stark contrast with strident Roland 303 twangs and unsettling, growling bass frequencies. It's as if a romantic tryst were happening in an alternate-world auto factory. Hazily reminiscent of illbient and abstract trip-hop, "Laissez-Faire Couture" is an oblong oddity that exists in its own unique sphere. "Mr. Gecko" is a steely-eyed shuffle with corrugated, slate-gray synth vapor arcing in the distance and a loop of someone saying the title in a tremulous voice. It's so evocative, you want to base a crime-thriller movie around it. The EP's most club-friendly cut, "We Doubt (You Can Make It)" threads a male vocalist singing a paradoxically bold mantra—"I just can't make it"—over a broken tech-house rhythm that's both jaunty and heavy, bolstered by a sooty, strutting bass line. DJ Sotofett's Radio Mix of "We Doubt" adds an urgent blaxploitation-flick bass line and a more festive tempo and wildly fluttering flute and warped percussion accompaniment. Dresvn offers a chilled dub version of "We Doubt" that bumps along with weirdly timbred percussion (think horse hooves on a cobblestone road) and an eerie, shivering drone in the background that sounds like the intro to Todd Rundgren's "International Feel." All of these variations twist a venerable genre into unorthodox shapes and highlight Madteo's thrillingly eccentric musical vision. After completing a hat trick of essential releases with "Seaside Tune", Russia's king of lilting melodies, coastal flavours and sunkissed sounds returns with his latest must have release. Back once again on his own Mellophonia imprint, A Vision Of Panorama invites us aboard his luxury yacht for a carefree journey across the ocean. Opening with the animalistic chatter of the Brazilian cuica and a chirping synth melody, "Two Birds" instantly transports us to tropical climes where the breeze plays among the palm trees and the clear waters kiss the white sand. Title track "New Horizons" sees the tempo drop to a languid strut as the fretless bassline takes our dancing bodies under its control. The bright tuned percussion, misty pads and mystical woodwind offer light and shade at the top end, while that Balearic beat should keep the dancefloor moving. As we follow the suns arc onto the B-side, A Vision Of Panorama turns up the heat and the tempo for the beachside proto-house peach "Coastal Waves". The deep and warm...

It's been a while, 17 years, to be precise since Bernd Kunz, also known as AFMB, released an album. After its release in 1997, A Forest Mighty Black's "Mellowdramatic", became a trip-hop classic. It followed several 12's that Kunz released on Compost Records, including Compost's 001, "Fresh In My Mind'. "Mellowdramatic' included tracks like "Rebirth' and "Everything' and highlighted Kunz's love for the melancholic shades of music.

In the years that followed, Kunz quietly drifted away from his trip-hop roots and during this time he moved from the Black Forest capital Freiburg to Zurich, Switzerland, where he got more in touch with house music again (before his trip-hop days he was an avid acid house and garage addict). After meeting Drumpoet's label boss Alex Dallas and his 'Earthbound' buddy Alex Gustafson at the cities' most famous house club "Zukunft', it was clear what had to be done - they started to explore the deeper aspects of house as "The Lost Men'. Encouraged by the resonance of their output, Kunz followed up with solo work on Drumpoet. The 12"s "Backup Days' and "In My Life' featuring the singer Geraldine Roth (who is also featured on the new album) showed his love of 90's house, especially the Underground Resistance sound. After all those club-orientated releases he got more and more interested to find out what could happen when looking beyond the dancefloor without neglecting the basic ingredient of house-music, the 'four on the floor' bass drum. He started to cross his house explorations with the vast trip-hop experiences and it soon became clear, that the fusion of the two genres was the key to the special mood he was looking to set.

One of the first results that can be found on the album was "Suite For B-Boy', a reflective 120 BPM tune, with a typical AFMB, Larry Heard influenced piano line, followed by "A Tribute', that could easily be declared as slow house. But one can also find much more trip-hop sounding songs on the record, with "Jade Knights, 2' where Kunz plays with his own past quite heavily, but tastefully.

While working on those three tracks, he suddenly realized that he had started to create a blueprint of a new LP without knowing. The major aim during the three-year long production was to explore all possible facets of this genre clash and to finish a timeless, gadget-free piece of music, that the listener can travel through. AFMB provides twelve new and previously unreleased tracks with his latest Drumpoet release and proves his "Black Forest' heart still beats.

If you're going to have an experience, it might as well be a luxury one. Lux Experience is a mysterious Norwegian producer, who presents us with a selection of steamy late night disco re-edits dripping in luxury, trawling his vinyl collection for the choicest sample material. The shimmering disco boogie of "Doin it" is a tribute to one of Norway's longest living club nights, "Dance Dance Dance" is a cover, not an edit, of the classy Chic classic and finally "U Can't Hide" is a vintage vocal disco gem.

For the sixth release on People Must Jam, we headed to Poland to find two very special guys that make up Ptaki.
Ptaki have been making ripples around the world for their unique approach to putting together a record or two and having just recently dropped their album Przelot those ripples have turned to waves. We are proud to announce their new record - Antypody that will possibly turn those waves tidal!
Ptaki have delivered a wonderful varied EP with four different cuts. Kicking off with the crazy uptempo Hi-NRG disco cut Milosc after which the record moves into the more gorgeous Balearic territory of Termy. This blew us all away when we first heard it.
On the flip Lotnik showcases some solid house roots before the EP ending on the porn sampling and rather brilliant Radio Roman.
We are really stoked to have these boys on board for what we feel is going to be a very sought after record.

IT´S REMIX TIME!

Preben just had the time of his life. First he was invited by frenchman I:Cube to go diamond hunting in his luxury yacht somewhere in the adriatic sea. A helicopter sounded, pirates entered the ship. No match for Preben though, he´s got a pink belt in capoeira. Wham! He then "borrowed" the helicopter (Zed´s dead style) and flew out to Asker, Norway, where Prins Thomas expected him with a big bowl of disco stew. How nice.

Anyway, as both these versions are slightly longer than the original versions on the 7", we decided size up to a 10". Artwork by Bendik Kaltenborn as ever, mastered and cut by the talented Matt Colton at Alchemy Mastering.

With deep sounds and acid basses, Beaner & Pipo Vitch take us in to the dark sounds of Berlin nights with 2 original hypnotic and timeless groovy tracks. You will find also two remixes by Detroit legend Terrence Parker and Art Feast label artist Klaaar.

Louse Michel is a more swinging introspective tracks built on mysterious synth chords and groovy snares that are shaped throughout the tune, leaving the rhythmic
complexity of snare and hats interplay to provide the greatest sense of development. The space between the sounds and the throbbing pads and siren take us up and down like in a sweet roller coaster.


Terrence Parker remix of "Twin Futures" brings a cold and deep thickness to the original bass line, giving it an indescribable Detroit flavour. This bass focused production infused with the kind of high-quality sheen and melodic depth TP has become known for, adding to the original production a reliable four-on-the-floor kick and
tasteful layers of spacey synth scape Definitely a
dance floor hypothesizer !


Finally Klaaar's remix of "Louise Michel" takes the
E P in a totally unexpected direction, offering its own vision, playing with original voice samples and adding some epic pads and shaky percussions.

After some high profile remixes for the likes of Little Dragon, Jon Hopkins and Shit Robot as well as releases on Phonica, Mule Musique, Firecracker Recordings (his amazing contributions to the Mac-Talla Nan Creag project) and his own Little Strong imprint, the "Clearness Of Love" EP picks up where last year's highly acclaimed "301C Symphony" 5-track-bundle left us: Gentle club tracks fusing acid house and 90's techno to wildly cinematic and earthly soundscapes sit alongside ambient and Balearic burners. All of them reveal McDonald's early influences from sci-fi soundtracks and Detroit to classics by the likes of The Orb and New Order, as well as the roaring nature of his home Scotland - the Highlands in particular. Four tracks heavy in nostalgia and inspired by love.

Late night sleaze is the offering on the first Secrets & Dreams release as Boogie Cartel take the scalpel to some of their much loved record collections and deliver some straight up dance floor slayers, fast paced and vibrant this first Underground Edits release is pure peak time heat, tops off and get close to whoever's next to you as the Disco is chopped up and taped back together with love and fired out of a giant confetti canon...indulge

The first 12" on Bad Passion Project's Not An Animal Records imprint comes from Correspondant and Hivern Discs regular Man Power. He impresses from the off, unveiling the strobe-lit Italo chug, spacey synths and '80s electronics of "Power Theme". The Italo-disco influences are also noticeable on the stripped-back electronic grooves and Balearic guitar flourishes of flipside "Le Clerc". While both of these tracks are decent, it's the accompanying remixes that really make the EP stand out from the crowd. The Ess O Ess remix of "Power Theme" - complete with shuffling Balearic breakbeats and stretched-out, starlight breakdown - is particularly potent, while The Backwoods' remix of "Le Clerc" turns a largely dark and woozy cut into a flash of sun-kissed Balearic disco bliss.

After several go-to 12s on the always reliable Let's Get Lost series, the mysterious Marvin & Guy drop their first On The Prowl release! First up is "Estacy" with driving percussion and a string driven groove that keeps building with subtle drops and hits. Marcos Cabral takes it into deeper territory with his heavy remix, definitely pushing the bottom end for the big room where it should be heard. On the flip we have "Moon Import," a moody rhodes driven vocal track with panning synths to get you in a daze. Then some upbeat disco house with "Shot Me" - a perfect track for your next loft party.

Copenhagen's Music For Dreams continues to fly the flag for Balearic madness with this quality four-track EP. 'Charité' is the result of a jam session between two young Danes, Mads and Frederik, and is without doubt a future classic, with demand building strongly since its first plays on label boss Kenneth Bager's Ibiza Sonica radio show. In the style of Max Berlin (yes that good!), with French spoken vocals, Spanish guitars, floating bongos and a warm bassline, this is a real monster of a record. Legendary Balearic pioneer Phil Mison heard an early mix and his exact words were "This is good, no, this is really really good!" - don't miss. Mads Dalholt pops up again on Side B with "Balearica" a cut he made with fellow Danes Dj Zimino and Dj Djek. This does what is says on the tin - smooth and rolling bass, 70ties Hammond keys, deep and mysterious voices creating an incessant groove which meld various styles and influences in a hippie spirit. The other artist featured is Troels Hammer, a composer and piano player who delivers two short compositions "Azur" and "Birdy" both oozing that melancholic sunset vibe we love from the golden Cafe Del Mar era. Both tracks are taken from his forthcoming debut album "Troels Hammer", also to be released on Music For Dreams. Limited vinyl.

The prolific Lay-Far has had a string of stunning 12's over the past few years and nothing seems to be stopping him either.
Not only having a big range and depth as a producer Lay-Far is also a killer DJ and always sneaks in a few of his own edits in his DJ sets.

On 'Secret Weapons' Lay-Far presents three tracks that celebrate an era of when disco, jazz, afro and rare groove ruled the dance floors.
First up is 'Quality Hours' which to us is the perfect nugget for the early afternoon, mid-day session or late night summer parties.

On the flip is 'Saaba Dub', the sort of light and loose disco-soul groove influenced by dub and last but not least 'Prime Climate' ends things in a slightly more rare groove-ish way.

Dessert Island Disc's 10th release features a brilliant disco gem from the mighty Rahaan on the A side while the B throws up another Aussie local
with his own label but going under the pseudonym of Ted Empleton. Both tracks laid out for a friendly tour of any dance floor with a Disco Bent.
They don't last long - no digital release either so grab a copy before they're all gone and going for ridiculous money on Discogs!

Red Laser Disco is the Manchester based party that fuels Red Laser Records. A party that has drawn many likeminded music lovers together over the last 5 years since its creation by local DJ and vinyl collector Il Bosco. The release represents a blueprint to both the label & club-night.

There are some absolute rarities in Witch, Evo and Angels Program but putting that aside all the tracks on this LP have an amazing timeless sound that has inspired the Red Laser parties along with the producers on Red Laser Records.
You'll find synth driven chuggers up against dark disco, chest pumping electro boogie next to arpeggiated thud.
Each track is the original 12" version ( except one cheeky re-edit ) & all have been expertly recorded from the vinyl copies with no expense spared in the recording and re-mastering process.

The album is treated to the standard Red Laser attention to detail. Presented in a gatefold PVC cover with two riso print wrap around poster sleeves featuring amazing science fantasy imagery & full colour printed card inners.

The third Sources package comes from one perhaps one of the most radical of the New York underground independent labels in several different areas - Avant-Garde, Dance, Hip-Hop/Rap and Freestyle, so welcome to the one and only Sleeping Bag Records from New York. Founded in 1981 by the Avante-Garde musician Arthur Russell together with Will Socolov and Juggy Gayles, the label kicked off with the seminal 'Go Bang!' by Dinosaur L aka Arthur Russell and quickly established itself with further dancefloor smashes from Class Action, the Jamaica Girls and Konk among others. However undoubtedly one of Sleeping Bag's most significant signings would turn out to be producer extraordinaire Kurtis Mantronik, who, with rapper MC Tee under the name Mantronix, would produce many of the most cutting-edge Hip-Hip/Rap and Electro classics of the 1980s including 'Needle To The Groove', 'Ladies', 'Bassline' and 'Who Is It', all of which are included here as well as producing a brace of international smash hits for Joyce Sims including the electro-funk masterpiece '(You Are My) All & All' and the super-slinky 'Come Into My Life'. Sleeping Bag would remain at the forefront of dance music culture with numerous other significant dance-floor smashes from the likes of Tricky Tee, Felix, Nocera, Dhar Braxton and Kariya's brilliant 'Let Me Love For Tonight' among many others. In many ways Sleeping Bag exemplified the perfect New York independent label of the 1980s with its shrewd A&R philosophy and an interesting balance of staff who were divided between old music industry veterans together with a brace of young keen new inductees who kept the label close to the streets - a winning combination all round. Out of all the labels featured in the Sources series, Sleeping Bag was the most consistently successful in its era and was undoubtedly the label which was the most hardwired into the sensibilities of the times. This is the most comprehensive anthology available of one of the greatest independent record labels of the 1980s.

All that is known about this Harry Baldi character is that he once squeezed 100 tracks into a 9 seconds mix on his Soundcloud and that he has never played at Panorama Bar or any other club for that matter.
So this one is truly a matter of the music doing the talking, and with the reggaefied dubness of 'Can't Kick This Feeling When It Dubs' and the vintage Theo Parrish-styled 'Tonight Tomorrow' the music will well and truly talk to a lot of music lovers."

Sébastien Tellier's new album My God Is Blue has won some notable proselytes, each bringing their personalities to the ever-expanding L'Alliance Bleue (The Blue Alliance) with their remixes of the hypnotic-disco bliss that is the single Cochon Ville. In Sébastien's mind Cochon Ville is a bastion within L'Alliance Bleue compound he plans to build where the animal inside man can 'express itself freely', and if his musical representation as well as those of his new inductees are any indication, its the place to be.

The endurance club was launched in London on Friday 13th november 2009 and ran as a regular party for the next three years. The aim was to treat Electronic Body Music as an important genre in it's own right rather than just a sub genre of industrial music, whilst linking it to early House and Techno, Belgian New Beat and Synthesizer Dance Music in General.

Body Party is a tribute to all those that were part of the endureance club and to the artists that made the records we danced to.

KALAKUTA SOUL RECORDS come with a series of releases and new gems that surely will keep this year quite busy. After Al Kent's killer joint that went by the title 'Love & Care", it's Cuttlefish & Asparagus who once again deliver a strong three tracker made to work the hell out of every imaginable sound system. Mainly known for their unforgettable work on Black Sun's self-titled epic track, Atlantis' Cuttlefish & Asparagus deliver an A side that couldn't work any hip harder. With a sound spectrum wider than the panama canal Hang On In There is guaranteed to turn any straight cut jeans into glossy orange bell bottoms and any mirror into a disco ball. On the B side Cuttlefish & Asparagus work out one of the most essential soul joints that always made you wonder why songs couldn't play forever. Meticulously edited without changing the filth of the unique bassline, Loving You is a wild stomper made to immediately fill or blast any imaginable dance floor. And to adequatly close this drop, Drum Song transports the deep spirit of the crew behind KALAKUTA SOUL RECORDS who's always after music they love to dance their asses off to. A Tropical bliss.

Pinkman boss Marsman lines up the next 12' on his Charlois imprint and in doing so welcomes back good friend and label inaugurator Dollkraut.

Having steadily released a collection of extolled records, the idiosyncratic Dutchman remains in search of ancient mysteries and follows up The Gym LP 'Schimanski's Black Lullabies' for with another varied cut - this one brimming with grubby percussion, vocoder tones and faint yet compelling homages to the traditional music of Mexico and Spain.

'Mastermaster' kicks things off and drives a shifting sequence through a lo-fi break, plodding piano notes and a clipped, lively vocal hook before 'Bruce Wayne' melds spring reverb and squelching flangers to treat guitar riffs and more 80's drums. Eerily wobbling synths shimmer over head before 'Hornet Green' drives a sprung kick under tense, soundtrack synth tones and a sandy shuffle as a cinematic pursuit is rendered.

'Valium' then sets sultry vocals floating through more hazy drum breaks and softly shifting chords. Rhythmic variation and more vintage effects wade in and round off off a refreshing package of rich and intriguing gems and another fine addition to the Charlois series.

The west coast cosmic vibe of KingCats 'Down In California' was one of the highlights of 2012's Magik Cyrkles compilation with an edit cut by Albion. Now the track has been reworked by album compilers Psychemagik who kick up the drums and extend the parts purely for the dancefoor.This limited edition 12' includes both edits and has been pressed exclusively for
Record Store Day with hand numbered sleeves and artwork by Luke Insect. 'When we frst spoke to Albion about licensing the KingCats for the Magik Cyrkles compilation we always talked about doing an exclusive 12' package.This is a track that doesn't really need to be messed with too much, we loved the
piano intro and wanted to extend that a bit to lull you into a different space before the track really kicks in.
This magical song really speaks for itself so all we did was add a subtle kick and snare for a little extra dancefoor punch and extend the outro for Dj's. For the artwork we wanted to fnd imagery that really encapsulates that unique Californian
energy and we're really proud of this release for Record Store Day. Psychemagik

Last Summer Theo Parrish toured Europe with a badass band he calls The Unit, comprised of himself on keys and vocals, lead vocals by Ideeyah, Amp Fiddler on keys and backing vocals, Myele Manzanza on drums, Mr. Mensah on bass and keys, Duminie Deporres on guitar and dancers Jade Soul, Mai Le, Dominique choreographed by Gehrik.

On stage they covered Sound Signature classics, cuts from Theo's latest LP and a selection of Theo's favorite dancefloor tracks, and the label are excited to be putting out a few of the recordings made during the tour. Starting with this two track 12, the A side is a cover of Skye's Ain't No Need. For those who know, the B side is a rendition of Walking Thru The Sky from Theo Parrish's 1996 Baby Steps EP.

Jacques Renault has traveled the world round many times (we're betting he's clocked a few hundred thousand miles); played the biggest clubs and smallest rave caves alike; worked with and for bigwigs, hotshots, up-and-comers, local friends, and foreign pals met through couch-surfs, house parties, and crate-digs; released original and remix material on a litany of labels that, as a whole, reads as a who's who of 21st century dance music culture; been half of a renowned production duo (Runaway); and helmed a handful of labels, Let's Play House included, since his humble beginnings, as a rookie DJ in his Chicago dorm, circa 1997. While his professional careeror what comes closest to what one would call a professional careerdidn't kick off until the release of Rvng of the Nrds, Vol. 6, on Rvng Inlt., in 2008, and the NYC residences he presided over during the years before that, he's been either on the periphery or at the epicenter of this crazy world of house jams and disco edits and techno bangers for one hell of a long time.

And so it's a little tough for us to do our usual thing and break this releasehis debut long-playerdown, track by track. We've been waiting for it for so many moons that now, in light of its completion and eminent release, we're at a loss for words. We can tell you that it includes 11 tracks, many of which feature guests, all of whom are pals from around the corner or around the globe. We can tell you it comes packaged in a deluxe gatefold sleeve that was designed by our creative director and head graphic designer since day one, Drew Heffron. We can tell you it is the product of hundreds of hours of tinkering and noodling and obsessing. Really, though, that's about all we have.

We hope you enjoy this beast of an album, an album that's not only significance for the wait we had to endure for it to land on our doorsteps, but for the sheer talent and craft that went into its creation. It's a condensed and compacted timeline of the man's musical journey through life, and we just think it's the bee's knees.

Cantomas classic chillout album ' out of town ' gets a re-release on Highwood recordings

The fourth studio album - In The Beginning' by the critically acclaimed live band MARBERT ROCEL from Leipzig. A place far away from everything, yet right around the corner. A vision close enough to touch, yet so far away. Surrounded by keys, hatches, pots and small fragmented parts, Marbert Rocel lie down, discuss and dance through the winter of 2015. In this environment, in their studio in Leipzig, the band ties together the songs, which first saw the light of day in a small spot enclosed by woods in the summer of 2014. Each decision goes through every head, each chord is listened to a hundred times, from font to back and in reverse, each compromise: a triumph for the common cause. Not pompoous string arrangements fuel this album with grandeur, but rather the notion of a consensual nod, which has evolved within Marbert Rocel over the years. 'In the Beginning' is the fourth album by Marbert Rocel, a living utopia and a tart kiss for every purist genre lover. Nothing is hewn raw on here, rather sculptured delicately. Percussion is tickling from synth pads like dew, and the songs welcome you like good friends. Like Tinkerbell, Spunks voice guides through this strange familiar world, moving past big feelings and small gestures, to finally lead to where it all started: 'In The Beginning'.
