pparel Music is delighted to welcome aboard one of the most talented house music producers in the scene, Goddard, who’s the protagonist of APLTD012. The twelfth release of the Apparel’s limited catalogue is a brand new 4 tracks EP called “Signals” by the Mancunian featuring a 4-hands collaboration with Harry Wolfman and a remix by Jad & The. Every single track has been chosen carefully since the beginning of the project to make this record a representative work of the artist who perfectly blends his musical knowledge with the label’s imprint. The opening track “Fourth Dimension” is a teamwork between Goddard and the above mentioned Wolfman and is the ideal start with its crunchy, slightly distorted beat, bold bassline and spacey chords and arpeggios, surely a track for the DJ’s out there to play out to a busy dancefloor. A2 is the title track “Signals” and it lowers the heartbeat, displaying all Goddard’s talent on the keys and creating an impeccable fluctuating soundscape of his musical characteristics: the beat is an oscillating, yet solid structure while the different timbres of his synths evaporate and reappear conceiving a dreamy, spacey track. Side B begins with the whimsical chords of “It’s Not So Cold In Tromso” where the artist takes the listener to a brief and intense trip to see the Norwegian northern lights; the track is made by a strong rhythm section and flighty, far-out, harmonies which really evoke Scandinavian landscapes. B2 is a free interpretation of the previous track by the Australian Jad & The who amalgamates a jungle-ish beat to Goddard’s introspective harmonic section telling his opinion on the trip to “Tromso”.

Signals EP will be released the 2nd of December on 12” vinyl and we’re more than happy to welcome Goddard to Apparel Music’s family.

Playground Records launches its first vinyl reference and for this brings a selection of top-level artists. In charge of the 3 originals we will have the Lithuanian Roe Deers who joins the family. Every track will feature a remix, by Sascha Funke, Zombies In Miami and Niv Ast respectively.

‘Lazer in the Jungle’ is the first track of Ep. It starts with slow rhythm, with air, percussive. It opens the way to an infectious groove coming from a sequence that runs around shrewd among the weeds of several warm sounds. A fat and metallic bass contrasts almost to the industrial, bringing the dance to a frantic state.

The second track ‘Tensions’ begins with a rarefied suspenseful atmosphere, where a chorus of bells that come from a far are mixed with textures and rhythms, leading to a percussive psychedelic journey. When the drums say present, the tribal dance begins, haunted melodies give rise to an unbridled percussion with rhythms of boxes in triplets and a flute that takes us along a path of winding rhythmic adventure.

‘Aerobica’ is a unique piece, a journey of different sonority, a song that comes as a message from another galaxy. A communication between satellites, a message encrypted in clipeant synthesis, in crazy sequences that rise and fall, are detuned and returned to the groove. Modulations that seem aliens speaking a language that we do not understand but that seems friendly, a step to a parallel dimension where the landscape is of an unusual astonishment.

Sascha Funke takes control of the first remix, in this case it is ‘Lazer In The Jungle’ which begins with a heart beat, sounds and percussion accompany, charming minimalism until you start the journey through a conversation of synthesizers marked by arrangements that bounce from one side to another, a celestial pad appears, the textures are acidified giving way to the bass that ends up to get us into the trip. Suddenly, everything disappears, empty, air, the percussions return, the groove begins, the hook of the original theme appears for the first time so that your whole body ends up dancing until the end.

The remix of ‘Tensions’ is in charge of Zombies in Miami. It all starts with rainforest groove percussions, the bass appears walking fiercely through the jungle, voices are heard, the weeds get thick, a drum fill appears to get us into a loud fall that leads to an acid and macabre bassline. The ritual has begun. Sacrifices and enchantments, Aztec sorcery in its purest state.

The Ep closes with the remix of Niv Ast to ‘Aerobica’. A dense fog is present at the beginning, a mysterious atmosphere calls us, a bass in the distance invites us to continue entering, hypnotized we fall into a very mental groove, marked by a somewhat gloomy voices that do not stop talking. When the battery enters the light returns to the road, optimistic arrangements give us a halo of hope, the dance catches us and does not let us out. A guitar cuts the air in half and a low voice tells us that it is the end of this trip, coming away … coming away.

Though he may still be tweaking the space laser to perfect album 'numero twomero' (hey, it's a working title), Terje has still found the time to tease us with a sneak preview of what's to come in the form of this body moving, brain grooving cover version of a Norse synth spectacular from the dystopian dance floors of '82. Inspired by his Dansbar diversions, Todd took to the studio for a little multitrack mania, replaying every part of this doomy dancer with all the Olsen sparkle you could ever wish for. Luring Det Gylne Triangel back into the booth for the first time in 25 years (possibly in his trusty Delorean!), Terje topped off the pops with a newly recorded vocal from the original lyricist, closing the temporal loop and opening the door to dance floor nirvana.

With a minimal wave good-bye to the moodier moments of the original, Terje turns up the funk and gets lost in the groove on this deep discoid delight. After an unruly intro of malfunctioning sirens and squawking synths, 'Maskindans' morphs into a nasty new wave nodder, bursting with chorus bass, mutant guitar riffs and infectious 4/4. Ola Ødegård´s monotone vocals stomp along with darkened eyes and backcombed hair, throwing angular shapes and computer feelings before the track romps off into interstellar overdrive. Punching the big red button marked dub, Terje picks up the echo and drops a Bobby O bassline, flirting wildly with acid house as revving synths light up the kosmische sky.

Remix duties fall to Phantasy man Erol Alkan, who replaces those dub disco flourishes with the strobe-lit pulse of Giallo, stripping the track back into a dark wired dancer which steals a beat on the imminent Electroclash revival. An insistent bassline and mechanical beat power straight into the peak time while the treated vocals take us all the way back to hearing Jeans Team in skinny jeans on the darkened dance floor of Trash.

Apparel Wax comes back after a long summer with another EP, the 7th of its catalogue and yet again another display of four different musical approaches brought together as one. The EP is, indeed, a 4 tracks one and starts off with a groovy execution of a classic house track, an archetypical and simple house tune with a defined personality and the perfect start, from square one. With 007A2 we start to shift the perspective to a more funky and tribal vibe with the help of the percussions, piano chords and simple bass and guitar lines to close an A side which is a modern view on something classical.

007B1 breaks in bringing an energetic overload since the first seconds with a heavy rhythmic section and keeps up the same pace throughout the whole track even when slowing down. Its insistent and slightly distorted hi hats, along with decisive piano chords helped by some well crafted vocal samples, take us all round this journey through a packed imaginary dance floor. Let's take the foot off the pedal for 007B2 which is instead the most desirable closing with it's smooth yet impactful sounds which create an ideal sunset mood to plunge into. So the sun sets on APLWAX007 and we hope you dig once more what the masked hero brought us this time around.

Official remastered limited edition of Cellophane project from 1984 produced by Alessandro Novaga, one of THE major influences on Chicago House Music with his trio of releases -Drums-, -Electronic Drums- and -Faces Drums-, all essentially EPs of tough electronic bonus beats, creating the blueprint for many early Windy City productions. He was also behind other such hugely influential cuts as Stopps -Im Hungry- and -Ali Shuffle- by Camaros Gang. Here on his Cellophane album, which came after the huge -Gimme Love- single, we get what I guess you could describe as his magnum opus. The album consists of just two long tracks (or suites perhaps?) that take the listener of on an epic psychedelic italo /space disco trip like no other. Heavy use of synths and drum machines expecially on the part 3 !

Kampana delivers once again with a pair of dance floor gems that will please lovers of funk, disco and gospel alike.On the A-side, Aroop Roy means serious business with 'Reason to Dance'. Driven by an outrageous slap bass, infectious horn stabs and a limb-shaking vocal refrain, it's no surprise that this has been THE secret weapon of his recent sets around the world. On the flip, Detroit native Peter Croce, fresh from the huge success of his Razor-N-Tape EP, comes in equally strong, with the gospel-fuelled disco cut 'Just Like Heaven'. The track builds patiently, lingering on a raw disco groove, honing in on a powerful brass section and spirit-lifting vocals, and eventually climaxing with epic strings and thunderous piano.

Leeds born producer and DJ Carlo Gambino has become a name synonymous with deeper leaning house from the UK over the past decade, releasing his material via the likes of 3am Recordings, Zingiber Audio and his own Midnight Social Recordings
and Amongst Others. Here though we see him joining Cinthie’s we_r house, following releases on the label from Kevin Over, Alessio Viggiano and Toman.

As we boldly enter a new decade, we cap off the pingin' naughties with another four bangers for your intergalactic nappers on this, the tenth instalment of our various artist EP series!

Red Laser Corp. engage tractor beams once again and beam up an elite squadron of galactic firepower for another of their well-lauded V/A EPs. Featuring two new ascending space cadets, ready to prove their worth on the universal playing field, alongside well-decorated star commanders Ste Spandex and Franz Scala; this latest Manctalo mission is destined for undisputed interplanetary acclaim.

First up, it's local interstellar fugitive, RL regular and black listed hardware abuser, Ste Spandex; whose titular tribute to one of dance music's most notorious labels is as fitting and arresting a piece of glistening, space disco-tek as its namesake deserves. Centered on triplet synth shards and a rugged acid line, Spandex-patented perx snap, crackle and pop as the track careers through the asteroid belts protected by a capacious force-field of electrostatic energy.

New signing Baba & Ganoush deploy a sleek, Euro-disco themed energy ball named 'Stockholm'. It's epochal synth array referencing classic Italo disco whilst revealing a precision sign-writing maturity that belies the fact that this is indeed the duo's first release!
Spurting tantalising synth solos and interlocking leads from its holographic sphere, you could easily been sent spiralling into the speaker stacks, eyes-wide-shut upon hearing this piece - note RLC will not be held liable for any injuries sustained!

Next we enter the cockpit of Berlin-residing, Italo-maestro Franz Scala, who on his debut sortie for RLR, directs the mother ship towards an innocuous star cluster where Ka Zan’s 'Give Me Your Heart' is on permanent repeat. Scala utilises advanced time shift and audio defragmentation devices to re-engage its citizens with this hardcore cosmic climax, transforming it into an erupting supernova of Italo that blasts so far it's now detected across our own stratosphere.

Ondata's Martin Lefteri and Szymek Lawik are two new rookies snapped up from London and whose 'Feel The Drive' parties have established an alliance with Red Laser Disco members nationwide. Delving perilously into deep space via some meticulously programmed sequences and a dark, cold synthesis method, the pair show a fearless exploration of the outer cosmos on this initial exercise for the label. .

(M)or Mint was originally a digital release on a small and now defunct label. Being released under a different title its existence has been basically scrubbed from the internet. Caserta felt it was time to bring it back remixed and mastered as a physical release.

The Baby Maker Dub puts this mid 90’s soulful vocal front and center. With a sparse drum arrangement complimenting the smooth piano stylings of Yuki ‘U-Key’ Kanesaka, you have a make out inducing end of the night jam.

For those not ready to go home yet, Caserta added more drums, a lot of 909 and a whole lot more low end. Turning this smoothed out subdued affair into a certified dance floor stomper.

Rajan James, the Jamaican-born English-raised musician’s ‘Impossible Dreams’ is an inspirational sax-laced single that walks a fine line between North American boogie and British synth-pop influences of the 1980’s, yet manages to sound distinctly her own. Left Ear have salvaged both the unreleased full-length versions, including the instrumental for a 12” single.

In the early 80’s Rajan headed to the States for a 5-week holiday, which turned into a 3 year hiatus. It was here that she was initially looking for inspiration from gospel singers, a natural progression from the choirs she had been singing in back home, even performing solo alongside her drum machine. It was in the States the she saw what she describes as the “future” of music, particularly “dance” music. Rajan returned to England with an open mind and an enriched cultural appreciation for a diverse range of sounds. It’s at this stage that she recorded ‘Impossible Dreams’ and released it on Steve Ayers’ ‘One Giant Leap’ compilation. Unfortunately, due to the release being an album of demos the track was cut short to make way for songs from other artists. Furthermore, it was never picked up for a single release and faded into obscurity. Rajan did release a single the following year called ‘Time’, unfortunately the label went into receivership and the release failed to make ground. After this, Rajan explains that “life got in the way and music had to take a back seat”. Thirty-seven years after the fact and Rajan’s ‘Impossible Dreams’ sounds just as relevant today, with an eternal message of optimism and hope.

The third single from New York based Stray Current Records is a slice of classic piano house. Producer D. Briggs is joined here by vocalist Danhy Clermont, who brings a warm, soulful mood to the track. For the A-side remix, Briggs breaks the track down and gives it a minimal, electro-pop feel. Then on the B-side, globe trotting DJ and Let's Play House label boss, Jacques Renault delivers an amped up version that will bring the heat to the dance floor.

Returning for Volume 2 of the sought-after series, Glitterbox Jams is back with another red-hot delivery of dancefloor gems, ready to become a record box essential for all discerning disco DJs.

Delivering two tracks previously unavailable on vinyl and a pair of previews from the imprint, Volume 2 opens with Mike Dunn’s irresistible ‘Natural High’. Featuring Mike’s unmistakable Windy City drawl, this stripped-back disco-house jam sees Mike flex his musical muscles with traditional analogue techniques.

Up next, a silky-smooth disco number and exclusive first listen of enigmatic duo Body Music’s latest output, where pair team up with the ferocious voice of Amy Douglas. On the flip, another forthcoming Glitterbox release powers through, as French production maestro Yuksek turns his hand at remixing Risk Assessment’s ‘Remember Me’, featuring the mystical vocals of Jemeni G.

Recounting tales of Studio 54, self-expression and long nights spent on the dancefloor, this exhilarating cut makes a perfect fit for Glitterbox’s ethos of acceptance and open mindedness. Finally, the unmistakable bounding bassline of Seamus Haji’s ‘Boogie 2nite’ delivers a dose of Saturday night fever, rounding off this sublime release from the Glitterbox camp.

The wonderfully monikered Golden Flamingo was one of many labels operating alongside the now legendary P&P Records imprint in late 70's to early 80's NYC. Fans of deep Disco, raw gritty Soul and rare as hen's teeth Electro and early Rap know of the cult status of it's brief but influential output and in recent years the P&P label and it's associated entities have enjoyed further popularity through the exposure of it's music by some of the world's most respected DJ's and selectors, and rightfully so. An amazingly lo-fi, endearing and overtly underground aesthetic runs through all of the labels, from the label artwork down to the music itself. This style is evident on Margo Williams' epic 'God Save And Protect All The Children', a colossally rare 12" from back in 1980.
A huge, drifting soulful Gospel number, 'God Save...' has been an oft overlooked gem in the wider P&P related catalogue. Not much info is known about Williams other than she contributed backing vocals to some classic Disco records including Inner Life's 'Inner Life II' and The Salsoul Orchestra's christmas LP as well as appearing on other P&P projects. The production on this record was handled by the absolute powerhouse duo of Peter Brown and Patrick Adams so it oozes that amazing quality that these 2 legendary studio figures brought to all of their projects - the trademark P&P sound. It's all here in this beautiful stirring plea to the lord to look after all of us set to some incredible arrangement and production. It's obvious these self-made music industry legends were at the top of their game back then and one only has to explore the rich and diverse catalogue of amazing music they've given us over the decades. Absolutely essential repress action here.

Lets Not Pretend is the impressive debut release of croatian producer Laseech featuring the soulful vocal talents of Detroits Javonntte. Including a remix by Lumberjacks boss Marcel Vogel & Tim Jules.

Les Edits Du Golem return with a 45 release featuring two spaced out francophone oddities. Side A is a slow disco burner lamenting an evening getting lost while disco dancing. On Side B things simmer down even further with a doped out dad rock track.

The Godfather of the Montreal disco Robert Ouimet was a resident DJ at The Limelight between 1973 to 1981.
Basically this man got history!

After a fine release on Basic Fingers last year he now got two funk-disco edits for GAMM. On the A side Robert takes on a classic, Yellow Sunshine by Yellow Sunshine (translated in French on the release) which was a well established b-boy anthem as well as a classic cut for DJs like Danny Krivit and David Mancuso.
On the B, we find another obscure funk-disco jam packed with soulful vocals, moog synths and big disco breakdowns.

Bostro Pesopeo makes one of his infrequent, but always fabulous returns to his mothership Permanent Vacation. And as always there is a lot to admire in the music of Mr. Pesopeo: His attention to details and the certain richness of his productions are quite remarkable. Cloudy analogue textures are paired with organic house drums, melodic euphoria and emotional relief over the course of the four tracks. Nobody will be left behind.

End to end, back to back solid gold SOUL & FUNK bombs are what's contained on this slab of wax! That's right, Gwen's 1979 LP has lashings of dope drums, wriggly bass synths, brass and of course, THAT voice! Absolutely stellar tracks on here - 'all this love that I'm giving' - famously sampled by Cassius on their infamous smash 'feeling for you' is actually the album opener! The whole album unfolds from this point and we're treated to the classy, string laden 'I can only think of you' next. All in all this album has always been one of those rare LP's that has soul fans frothing at the mouth, traditionally a very tough one to track down and always commanding high prices on the collectors market. Released on TK Disco's CAT offshoot label and produced by the equally legendary Betty Wright (!) this is one sure shot that you'll need on your shelf and on your turntable if you're into this kind of flavour!

Cardiology came to light earlier this year with a sure shot from Yann Polewka, and now returns with more upfront disco house delights courtesy of Julio Cruz. Title track "What Is It About U" is a heart-stirring peak time pumper that matches disco romanticism with a forthright rhythm section, while "No One" gets a little more looped up without losing that heavy dose of soul. "Honey" keeps things cyclical and strutting - a perfect edit-heavy workout for the heat of the night. "Be Around" takes things deeper, shedding the disco tones for a more techy flavour that still matches with the upfront mood on the rest of the record.

Edit Service is proud to present its 6th release, this time featuring Youkounkoun, a duo comprising of Jeff Lasson of Get A Room and Gaëtan Rossi.

After releasing on Multi Culti edits and Edits du Plaisir, the duo delivers a mini-LP with a diverse range of tempos and moods, from dancefloor-friendly cuts to weirder tracks with Gallic oddities, Dutch new wave, Spanish minimal wave and experimental Iranian music used as the source material. The unsettling post-punk, industrial and mutant kraut energy in those tracks could not be further removed from lazy run-of-the-mill disco edits. In true digger spirit, Youkounkoun picks tracks never edited before and painstakingly re-arranges them by adding a lot of additional production to completely transform these tracks for the dancefloor. The digital files for this LP will be officially released 6 months after the vinyl record is out.

A1 Qu’est-ce que je fais ici The LP opens with this plodding downtempo edit, where a cold but funky groove provides the backdrop for French lyrics about modern alienation, with a chilling result, like standing under pasty neon lights for too long.

A2 Novotel cocktail Slightly faster but still resolutely downtempo, this track features a dance-inducing rhythmic section with spot-on sequencing, understated but unsettling melodic elements and last but not least a range of vocal elements that give the tune an embodied but wholly dehumanized feel.

A3 Musique du texte More than just an edit, in this track the duo blends the French and Japanese spoken words and oriental-leaning melodies from a largely beatless track with a totally new and different rhythmic section featuring a funky post-punk bass guitar and a four to the floor groove. The result is dizzying and irresistible.

B1 Mouvement perpetuel On this particularly mutant cut, bass guitar licks, tight drum programming and dreamy 70’s synths are used with dramatic effect by the duo to highlight the weirdness of French spoken word about perpetual movement: nothing is lost and everything is transformed.

B2 Metallic waves With a much more synthetic feel than the rest of the record’s hybrid offerings, this tune immediately stands out with its heavy and compelling groove, where eerie voices and a flurry of uncanny sounds create a strange and disorienting effect to which the most appropriate response seems to start dancing.

B3 Je veux pas danser In this dissonant and neurotic track, it is highly likely that a relentless synth bassline, an uptempo groove, morbid sound effects will set bodies in motion, even when unsettling Flemmish vocals about not wanting to dance try to convince listeners otherwise.

B4 In my castle In this hallucinated edit where sounds reminiscent of oldschool Chicago house and dub music are used for completely different purposes. Dance-inducing and hypnotic, it plays on the repetition of melodic and rhythmic elements. Delightfully off-kilter, it closes the LP in style.

Italo-disco inspired house music, IN MY DREAMS is the latest single from New York/Moscow duo IPF aka INTERNETPOWERLIFTINGFEDERATION. A warm, galloping bass line fuses with razor-sharp synth stabs, creamy pads and late-80’s house drums. A dual-vocal exchange explores self-delusion, obsession and a single-sided relationship between girl and the boy who lives in her head. Having previously cropped up on Glasgow’s Invisible, Inc. label, Tim Oxley Smith’s Natural Sugars project serves up some top-drawer sunshine vibes on the ‘Zombie Jungle’ EP. The title track pulls down the sun visor for an exotic and alluring mix of tropical beats and proto-house elements, whilst a dubbed out mood is cast over the chugging Balearica of ‘The Soothsayer’.

Manfredas has cut his teeth on the DJ circuit to become a most in demand selector on the leftfield circuit, and makes a rare foray into remix territory with a spicy version of ‘Zombie Jungle’. Thick bass synth over charging Italo beats, a touch of cowbells and a ‘hands in the air’ inducing breakdown, what’s not to love! ‘Sarsen Trail’ rounds things off with hovering keys, subtle acid and chorused guitar licks over a chugging rhythm

Kicking off the year in style, with a new album by someone we've greatly admired and whose music we've followed for many a year; the mighty William Burnett aka Willie Burns / Speculator and Black Deer.

We first were introduced to his music through the wonderful Grackle remix by our pals T.Keeler & Capablanca. Over time we've followed his many aliases with much enjoyment and can still recall hearing the first Black Deer music being played one afternoon in Phonica and NEEEEDING to know everything about it. There's also fond boat party memories in Stockholm soundtracked by the UTTU release. Not to mention WT Records putting out some brilliant records by now familiar faces - our favourites include Art Crime, Kartei and Tummy Tummy!

Recently, William has started a new long form interview podcast, Talk Video on The Lot Radio and Marc Maron comparison isn't far off the mark. Well worth digging into. He's also been making music for himself and we're chuffed to be releasing some of that with you now.

The 13threlease on GIANT is a various artists EP – this is VOL 1 and VOL 2 will follow later in the year. This EP features tracks from three exceptional new breed producers and one band who have been making waves for well over ten years now. This release joins up artists from across Europe and Russia. First up is CLAUDIO IACONO who hails from Italy. Then its PYSH who is from Poland followed by Russia’s ANTON LANSKI then last but no way least is Bulgaria’s BABYFACECLAN – The four tracks range from after hours deep techno to sublime deep house and BABYFACECLAN’S track has an Andy Weatherall flavour to it. Only 300 pressed.

This release is an EP and it's individually 500 hand-numbered limited edition. The first 100 copies are pressed on WHITE & YELLOW MARBLED vinyls (AR018). It's dedicated to the 1983 Balearic/Pop/Soft Rock masterpiece and now so in demand by the Italian Musician and Songwriter Mario Acquaviva.

Archeo Recordings is a reissue record label that regenerates old, lost, obscure and forgotten rare gems of mostly Italian music but also all over the world of the 70's, 80's and 90's.

All outputs are licensed by the artists and the vintage labels; audio tracks are remastered in their original form; the sleeves and center labels are graphically recreated for today but all based on the original images.

Archeo would like to make the music available to a wider audience of collectors, DJs, music lovers of a forgotten time. All releases are hand-numbered limited edition vinyl. The first copies of each release are pressed in coloured vinyls.

This edit of Mali's Amadou & Mariam "Ce N'est pas Bon" (originally created in 2008 for my dj sets) was supposed to be included on the recently released third Autonomous Africa 12".

Unfortunately I didn't get permission to use it in time for that release but permission has now been given, so rather than wait for AA 004 in 2015 it is going to come out as a limited edition hand stamped 10" as soon as possible.

All proceeds will once again go to the Mtandika mission in Tanzania. A big thanks to Ben UFO and Midland for championing this edit. The interest they generated directly led to the motivation for this release.
