In quick succession, Tropical Disco return with their tenth outing, a fluid, well sketched out and fiery ensemble of tracks, including newcomers and old friends.

Sartorial opens the carnival in typical class with ‘Warping’, involving titillating vibraphones pairing with a fidgety bass make for a raucous ride. When the brass enters it does indeed feel like the launch of something special, while the beat slams with the immediacy of an anthem. There’s some truly hypnotic moments when the chimes of the vibraphone dip and echo in the mix, masquerading as emphatic allurers of the deep.

Maintaining the enlivened pace, Moodena’s ‘Jammin’ is the brightest cut out of the four. There’s a wooziness to the keys, and a smoky soulfulness to the brass that’s simultaneously deep and rowdy. Vocal chants paired with a transition to Rockstar electric guitar conjure unfathomable energy; it’s an ode to unrestrained, liberal music making and totally nails it.

Simon Kennedy is welcomed back to the fold and back to his old tricks, doing what he does best. ‘Back To Soul’ couples well-chosen soul samples with a beefed up low end and his classic, pumping drums. The vocal is full and lush, enough to make anyone gush on the dancefloor.

Mexican talent and Tropical Disco debutant Hotmood closes the EP off with ‘Everybody’. It’s a shuffle and swing symphony, stitched together effortlessly and with a meaningful groove. A wiggly bass and tribal percussion work are the driving forces, being joined with infectious vocals, synth rises and sparkles. The sound is more akin with 00’s french house than nu-disco – fire!!!

Following the groups major hit "Is It All Over My Face," Arthur Russell continued to release dance singles such as this disco classic "Tell You (Today)," an upbeat dance groove and Loose Joints holdover featuring the vocals of Joyce Bowden.

The song has been remastered from original analog tape for 2014 and repressed in conjunction with the rights holders, Verse Music Group.

It took Mr Raoul K more than three years of work inside and outside the studio to complete his first album for Compost Records. His first goal was to show all the musical influences he came across during his time in Ivory Coast. Ivorian music has incorporated musical traditions and instruments from East-Africa, West-Africa and from Central Africa – a real musical melting pot.

Back in the early Eighties, a young producer, keyboardist and songwriter from the Bronx, Richie Weeks, already known for his smash hit “Rock Your World” with Weeks & Co, rallies his favorite musicians and vocalists (including his own brother Sheldon Weeks) to create a new outfit - The Jammers - as a new project for the famed NYC disco label Salsoul Records.

The Jammers were composed of Sheldon Weeks, Debbi Blackwell Cook and Jocelyn Brown on vocals along with Richie Weeks and his musicians: bass guitarist Raymond Earl, keyboardist Dennis Richardson, and drummer Scotty Miller (from Instant Funk) and saxophonist Roy Nathanson, members of New York City Strings, salsa trombonist Barry Rogers and jazz trumpeter Earl Gardner.

Most of the recording sessions for this album were held at the legendary Sigma Sound Studios in NYC with Richie Weeks and Shep Pettibone at the mixing console. Released in 1982 on Salsoul Records, the self titled Jammers LP was a smash hit in NYC and beyond, even reaching deep into the Bilboard and UK Charts.

The Jammers continued establishing Richie Weeks as one of the most important musician, singer songwriter and producer of the New York Dance and Disco Boogie scene. Richie Weeks blew up worldwide and even performed live at the Paradise Garage and Studio 54 to name a few …

This legendary album has been professionally remastered to Richie Weeks’ specs and also includes the two unreleased versions of “Just For You” - 12” Mix and Radio Mix - for the first time on vinyl.

Hot on the heels fo the worldwide smash hit “Rock Your World” released on Chaz-Ro Records in 1981, Richie Weeks produced and arranged “Weeks & Co”, the band first and only full length with another top notch selection of musicians and backing vocalists in 1982. Released by Salsoul in 1983, “Weeks & Co” is another classic electro post disco New York masterpiece.

Weeks & Co was composed of Richie Weeks (lead vocals, keyboards and percussions) and Jocelyn Brown, Elaine Gaskins, Meli'sa Morgan, Margaret Blount again with another top selection of NYC musicians.

On this release, Richie Weeks expands his productions, bringing in a lot more drum machines and electronic sounds, pioneering the sound of NYC’s dance music. “Weeks & Co” is a fantastic Disco, Funk and proto house LP including the classic “If You’re Looking For Fun”, “Rock Candy”, “Tunnel Of Love”, “Knock, Knock” and more.

Mysterious producer KIAN T is a crazy guy - living in a lonely house on a top of a hill somewhere in Italy. Surrounded by a collection of rare old synths and vintage samplers, a little dog and the best red wine of Italy. Kian is making beats all day long. That's his life. He started his career on Toy Tonics last year and now is back with an own EP - full of that fucked up, jazz influenced cut & paste House sound that is taking over the house world since last year. Similar to his friends Rhode & Brown, Fouk, Nachtbraker or the guys around OYE records in Berlin he loves to create this special way of sampling old Jazz records and using rare vintage synthesizers instead of digital computer sounds. Just listen to a "normal" deep house records of the last years and compare it with the sound of the Kian. Using these old synths makes a big difference. You can hear it on every of his tunes: There is no cheap sound here - everything is FAT and has a very warm, personal, always easy to recognize sound-aesthetic: courtesy of the four synthesizers he uses: The Korg Polysix, the Sequential Prophet600, a Roland Juno 60, and the legendary Oberheim Matrix 6. And courtesy of the way he mixes his tracks: not in the laptop - but the old way: on a fat old mixing desk. That's why he has that massive sound.

The latest Toy Tonics release comes straight from London with a remix by Germany's finest TUFF CITY KIDS. Metropolitan Soul Museum or MSM are Nick & Filippo. The pair have been running together Nick's Teng Records for the past 3 years - the label was set up to release Nick's Akra project music as well as other artists. Heads will remember this great imprint. Always crossing borders. Never being boring. Nick was also part of Mock & Toof, a duo that had quite a buzz when they were releasing freaky house music just few years ago. MSM have had a good start already: they self-released their Ruff Trk 4 a few months ago - including a remix by ROUND, the guy from Talabot's Hivern Discs. The interesting thing about MSM is also their live act: Playing with 707, Vintage keys, Machine and various effects - a similar set up for their studio production brought on the dance floor. There will be a lot more to come from MSM. This is just the beginning. house. Just good taste.

Fango from the Italian Degustibis family continues his string of strong remixes as he turns the original into a rough beat version just to drop the melody in the break for maximum dancefloor mayhem. And last but not least the Axes themselves come up with a tropical house version that works any time any place. And thus the sun continues to shine.

Andromeda Orchestra returns, unearthing "Don't Stop" and employing Ray Mang on remix duties, turning the track into a peak-time disco master class. Strings, Clav's, Piano's, spacey keyboard solo's, sound fx and modern disco drums collide for maximum dance floor connection. It's perfect for the bigger clubs and festival sets and yet still intimate enough for the smaller ones.

B1 see's "Kano Line Dance", finally receiving the vinyl release it deserves. This spacey disco nugget effortlessly combines Rhodes and guitars to create yet another modern, dance floor hit, which is already receiving support from the likes of Horse Meat Disco. Rounding off the EP on B2 is the original of "Don't Stop". The disco original sits perfectly between "Constellation Orchestra" and the more underground disco sound of New York. Convertion / Let's Do It was originally released on Sam Records in 1980. It featured the lead vocals of Leroy Burgess, who was also the lead vocalist for seminal disco tunes like Black Ivory / Main Line and Logg / I Know You Will. The Sam Records catalogue is currently administered by Nervous Records. Nervous has a long standing relationship with superstar producer Louie Vega, who with his MAW partner Kenny Dope has produced some of Nervous' most memorable tunes, including the signature Nervous release "The Nervous Track" by Nuyorican Soul. Louie as always a fan of Let's Do It and wanted to do a remix. Unfortunately the original parts were lost. Not to be deterred, Louie decided to reproduce the record, once again with lead vocals by Leroy Burgess. The result....Let's Do It - A Louie Vega Interpration. B-side Boogie Mix stays close to the original version. The A Side Dance Ritual Mix includes that magic Louie Vega flavor that will make it an immediate essential item for all dj's. The 12" release will be available two months prior to the digital release.

Footjob is releasing its second various artists sampler called 'Footure Classics Vol.2'. The latest edition complies 5 tracks - traditionally genre-specific between house and disco. This time fresh names are presented besides the established suspects Sascha Ciminiera and Lukas Lehmann such as legendary Hans Nieswandt (Whirlpool Productions) as well as acclaimed DJ Friction from Benztown. ALTA’s debut release, 'Reasons' is the product of many long nights making music together in a back room at Hannah and Julius’ Brunswick home. It was self-recorded over 10 months, from January 2018 to November 2018, using midnight sessions, tape delay effects and a literal room full of wall to wall synths to carve out a world all their very own. "It's a collection of songs written together in our home studio - No cowriters or anything, just us two experimenting making the music,” says the band.

The album was later mixed by Seekae’s George Nicholas in Sydney and mastered by Grammy-winning engineer Chris Gehringer at Sterling Sound (Rihanna, Janelle Monae, Chvrches).

Thematically, the album’s title alludes to the sense of complacency that often sets in when people start making excuses for themselves.
“It’s this internal thing,” Julius explains, ‘always coming up with reasons why things did or didn’t happen, or reasons why someone else did something. Often it’s self-preservation but it’s also bullshit.”

‘Push’ follows on from previous singles ‘Figured Out’, ‘Back On It’ and ‘Twisted’, which have just under 2 million streams on Spotify since their release and are receiving global attention, with spins on BBC Radio 1 and praise from the likes of The Line of Best Fit and CLASH.

“Let Me Do It” is a rare and extremely classy soul/boogie track from 1981, largely unknown at the time but becoming progressively sought after. Original copies have sold at between $1500 and $2000.

In a turn of events, Startree finds itself wading into the slower, more sensual side of things for its third release, courtesy of relative newcomer and super-talent Nelson Bishop. “Alice et les Aloes“ is a heart-rending, melancholic-yet-propulsive piece which impels the dancer in lovely and unforseen directions. The bass guitar holds the bottom down with a easy-yet-mighty, low-slung sleaze, and the ascending electric piano and keyboard figures joyfully take it to the stars. Soulful with modern-rock edges, this is music which endears itself to the listener on more than one level and for longer than one season.

“Still Life Noix de Coco” is rooted in a stomping Linndrum pattern, vaguely post-punk chorus-y bass and wistful, descending organ timbres. Driving and somewhat mysterious, you would do well to time the release of fog onto your dancefloor to coincide with the airing of this jam. Shoring up the other side is Darshan Jesrani’s take on “Alice et les Aloes.” In this version, Darshan takes the track around the corner, through the unmarked door, past the video arcade and straight to the ideal dancefloor, heaving and smiling, warm with bodies emoting to each instrument as it is given space, by the arrangement, to shine. Startree is proud to present this release as a continuing statement of its musical intentions and its simple desire to inspire and have a good time.

Mat Chiavaroli, one of your main artists who is getting stronger and stronger, opens this jubilee release with upbuilding powerful tune, just the tune the get Quintessentials 50 started! Great to see profilic dutch producer Nachtbraker (Heist, Quartet Series) on the label too. We love his style and he will soon be as popular as Ajax Amsterdam! His subtle and dirty "Bronco" fits in perfectly. The definitive club tune that grooves and grooves and grooves comes from Ponty Mython (Dirt Crew). Alexandr is a cool guy and this is defo a cool tune. Last but not least is Soul of Hex (Freerange, Vicario). Our mexican friend is going very raw this time. Yes, why not call it electronic body music (remember)! As we are gentlemen, we added a Quintessentials sticker in the vinyl edition. Go and get it!

Rollover Milano present their second record and the super chic party crew from Italy do not disappoint. Harnessing the vibe of their legendary nights the Celeste EP sees Boot & Tax take to the stage.

Two of the most popular and respected DJs/producers of the Italian electronic scene, most well known for their 2013 bomb the 'Acido Ep' on Optimo Trax, Boot & Tax continue to put their unwavering passion for analog synths and deep knowledge of Italo music to great use. Opening the EP 'Celeste' is a Carpenter-esque patient groover. Stripped back to an essential core, the rhythm and memorable bass line keep you locked throughout. Next up, "Tempo" keeps things stripped and powerful. Utilizing fewer elements in a maximized soundscape, delicious FX work and intricate detail really make this one shine.

For the last original work we have 'Vortice', a raw, crunchy number - freaked out melodics and fucked up beats. This is the track that keeps on growing and growing. On remix duty and closing out the EP, Brazilian outfit Fatnotronic deliver their re-interpretation of the title track ‘Celeste’, a steady paced remix that’s the equivalent of calling in the disco heavy artillery.

Another banger from cultuurschok., 4 cuts straight out of The Lost Vessel After Midnight” in The Hague! This time he miraculously appears on the Dutch “Onrijn Records”, the third release on their label. Soundwise this EP is comparable with cultuurschok his previous EP “op Sterven na Dood”. Tracks on Planet Hoax are more diverse, still catchy, uplifting and wrapped in a good amount of energy.

This record was made to dance, wether you are into raw Disco, lo-fi Techno, Electro.. This EP rocks!

We’ve been waiting a while for this one… Dark Sky return after a brief hiatus with this incredible EP featuring band of the moment Afriquoi. Many of you will already know one particular tune here: ‘Cold Harbour’ used by Bonobo on his Fabric mix compilation back in January. This gem is now backed with three more blissful, vital fusions. All created with different members of the deeply-rooted London-based live band.


‘Valmer’ sets the tone with its chimes, bells and chants, featuring the drumming of percussionist Andre Marmot aka Minioca. It's measured, restrained and impossible not to get goosebumps to, a near-spiritual experience the deeper you get into the groove. Elsewhere ‘Love Walk’ takes a much more subdued sojourn into the cosmic dusk. Mid tempo and much more focused on the rich layers of atmospherics than the beats, this will disarm a crowd at 50 paces. Next our minds are altered by eight-minute synth-striking mystique marathon ‘Cambia’ featuring the Kora playing of Jally Kebba Susso. Finally, ‘Cold Harbour’, one of the highlights from Bonobo’s evergreen mix from the London club institution, the combination of those rattled strings, pregnant bass staccatos, rolling percussion and deep undulating bass make it one of the most versatile and touching tracks Dark Sky have given us so far. And that’s saying something.


Breaking the Dark Sky silence that’s been almost two years, the ‘Clod Harbour’ EP opens up a whole new page in the London act’s legacy. And there’s plenty more to come. Watch this space...

The SlothBoogie crew take matters into their own hands with the 7th Editz release. This edition is packin' all the goodness you've come to expect... Three club ready disco reworks that have been chopped, trimmed and finessed for your dancing pleasure.

Two years after the electro-soca sensation that became of Carl & Carol Jacobs' Robot Jam, the duo return to Emotional Rescue with a reissue of the follow up in Yonge Street Jam Band. An update of Robot Jam's music and riddim in a true Caribbean sense, Yonge Street is a freestyle remix and comes in the original's Parts 1 & 2, plus a special Discomix by rising tape manipulator, Jonny 5. Following Robot Jam on Crosby Records, the Jacobs' husband and wife team released a series of soca 12"s for Eddy Grant's Ice Records in the following years. However, come 1988 and they decided to return to the electro flavours that had garnered considerable interest, reworking the Robot Jam tapes to create a new version for release on Straker's Records in Brooklyn. Running for over 30 years from the early 70s to late 90s, Granville Straker's label was a cornerstone of the soca scene releasing main stays, reggae stars and what have become highly sought rarities such as Yonge Street and The Rebles' Sweetest Taboo. In Yonge Street again the cut-up samples are there, topped with a fresh bass line and Carl's own rap attack. While Part 1 acts as straight up vocal version, Part 2 swerves towards scat-megamix stylings that work in their own right. However, as with the "Disco Giant" series of 2015, this one-off return hands the tapes over for a modern reinterpretation. With acclaimed releases for Bahnsteig 23 and Power Cuts, plus an upcoming EP for Pleasure Wave, Jonny 5 has finally made the leap from respected CBS Forum oracle, DJ and collector with a penchant from dub to obscuro European cold wave and post punk oddities to finally sit in the producer's chair. After sending the label a personal mix made for his own use, he was hauled in to the studio to officially cut, mix, arrange and dub a long-form Discomix in the truest sense that perfectly creates a dance floor retake that might well be heard from boat parties off the Dalmatian cost to the open air street parties of Sao Paulo and all over festivals across the green fields of Europe.

Redsonja Records brings to light reference number 16, held back until now, as to date 18 of our catalog has already been released. Visionary 01 is an EP by VVAA released on vinyl and digital format which showcase new a graphic identity of Redsonja Records: the warrior. In addition, RS16 also includes a future reference: Visionary 02. The four producers that participate coincide in several aspects related to the concept we believe in as a label. They all possess a kind of "divine touch" when producing their tracks, you can tell they all work from their soul. Jose Rico presents a track title ‘Discotime’, deep rhythmic cadences in the purest Detroit style; clean, bright, and delightfully mischievous sounding. Analogies intentionally created, synths that cross each other with elegance and leave space for all the necessaries. The result is an essential track in any relevant music collection. It takes us to other worlds that are more relaxed, more divinized, more colorful, more leisurely ...

Acclaimed imprint Disco Halal reveals their 1st 2019 release with Moscoman & The Organism collaborating on the 'Rite EP2 due Feb 8th! The project includes the titled track as well as the atmospheric blisters of 'Chumbai' and ercussive textures of 'Rubab', a track steeped in the Middle Eastern sonic influences of Moscoman's home country of Israel. Flipping the leading track on its head, the Disco Halal remix of 'Rite' is turned into a loopy, hypnotic edit suited for the oddballs. The EP follows Moscoman's recent remix of Three Drives On A Vinyl's classic anthem 'Greece 2000'. With truth at its center, the sound of 'Rite' RP is an open-ended prospect; a shared vision which Moscoman rounds off with his own Disco Halal mix of the opening production.

The fourth from the mysterious ‘Edits From’ Series 3 no-bullshit disco versions designed for euphoric moments on any dancefloor. -
