Secret State - Zero Zero One

From another analogue basement, amidst paranoid conspiracy theories and wild youtube truths, the heat of a Tr-808 and Juno-60, and dreams of forgotten utopias, comes the first Secret State ep, an attempt to rise above the all pervasive, vacuous, decaying culture.

154 - Wherever You Go, I Will Follow

- Exquisite amniotic techno by Dutch electronic music deity, Jochem
Peteri aka Neworldaquarium.
- His first material recorded since Thousand Oaks (Ostgut Ton, 2014)
and first new 154 release since Strike (Delsin. 2004
- 22 minutes of cascading, coruscating harmonics smudged and
rendered with fathoms-deep lushness

It's our pleasure to finally offer a major new work by Jochem Peteri's cultishly adored 154 alias as part of the Boomkat Editions 12X12 series - home to releases by Kara-Lis Coverdale, Beatrice Dillon, SND & Terre Thaemlitz, Raime and others.
Originally conceived to soundtrack an installation by Delta (the artist behind stacks of Delsin's label artwork), the 22 minute piece's swell of amniotic techno ambience has been sliced to vinyl here in two parts playing at 45rpm, which was patently the best way to capture the billowing but viscous harmonic dynamics of what surely ranks among 154's most impressive works.
Typically crafted in one improvised take, Wherever You Go, I Will Follow finds Peteri wholeheartedly embracing the harmony between analogue and digital realms in his studio, finally allowing him to dynamically compose, edit and effortlessly shift between
and inside mediums, something he's been hoping technology would allow for years but which has only effectively become possible recently.
Taking inspiration from the birth of his second child, the results are suitably life-affirming and bathed in light. They take the listener beyond the smoked-out introspection of his seminal Strike (2004) and The Dead Bears (2007) albums - both a huge influence on
Actress, Lee Gamble and Huerco S among very many others - not to mention perennial faves of ours - to a more contented and quietly alluring place on the horizon, positively replacing his earlier work's sense of detachment with transcendent feelings of intimacy, happiness, love.

Or in Peteri's own words, this one is about family

Darren Nye - Emotional Intelligence

As always, a label about quality music and quality packaging without compromise. B12's sub-label FireScope Records is proud to present Darren Nye, the next producer to add a beaming pulsar to the expanding FireScope universe.

Titled 'Emotional Intelligence', FS010 is Darren Nye's first-ever vinyl release and a voyager discovery into five of his finest work. A UK producer who has been writing music since 1995, Darren's emotional and heartfelt work with influences from B12 among others fully represents our ethos of proper techno created today.

First landing — 'Things She Said', where swirling pads wrap themselves around perfectly programmed drums and percussion, complemented by wonderful basslines. 'Emulated Emotion' speaks for itself next. A highly emotive tune with gorgeous pads and percussions carrying the track through while an undulating bassline burbles underneath — a personal spin on B12 influences.

The voyage continues on the flip with 'Plasmid Soul', pure techno soul in its finest form with familiar drums and strings comprising the right ingredients to a timeless tune. Inspired by a photo from a day out in Greenwich and a bad feeling, 'Fragments' is an unexpected side excursion, with its quirky, disjointed bassline recalling the fragments of the past, of yesterday. 'Disconnected Reality' sonically encapsulates the emotions of sadness presented with a ray of hope. A track I wish I wrote!' — Steven Rutter.

No matter how strong we think we are, the words from one person can affect us in ways you'd never thought possible, making us feel disconnected from the world. Our emotional state will never be the same, and the fragments of the past will forever haunt our souls.

Finished in glorious white/blue marbled vinyl with exclusive full colour artwork by the amazing J. Mccreadie.

Gacha Bakradze - Word Color
  • A1: Leaf
  • A2: The Prayer
  • A3: Stray
  • A4: The Single Hound
  • A5: Oneself
  • B1: Word Color
  • B2: Sarphi Rocks
  • B3: Clarinets
  • B4: Dream Debris

For a number of years Lapsus Records has closely followed the career of producer Gacha Bakradze and has kept in touch with an artist who previously participated on the "DEU" compilation (Lapsus Records, 2014) with the track "Blackout", under his more ambient moniker, Winter Flags. It was therefore simply a matter of time before a record collaboration materialized in the form of "Word Color", a nine-song mini-LP in which Gacha gives free rein to his most introspective electronica. This imaginative producer from Tbilisi (Georgia) has deservedly earned plaudits throughout the European scene, becoming a mainstay of the Belgian label Apollo -a sub label of R&S Records, a fundamental label in the development of underground electronic music over the last three decades-, for whom he has released half a dozen releases to date, receiving reviews from prestigious publications including Pitchfork and Resident Advisor. Furthermore, since 2015 Gacha has combined his facet as producer with the running of his own label Transfigured Time. "Word Color" is a cinematic arrangement of captivating melodies, rhythmic experimentation, textured landscapes and micro-vocal samples. Gacha has once again reinvented his musical ideology, bestowing it with mood defining authenticity and excitement, through superbly and

dextrously programmed rhythms and harmonies. Songs like "Leaf", "Oneself" and "Stray" travel into ethereal wastelands and are ambient soundscape pieces replete with nuances and unexpected twists. "Word Color" also makes room for beats, with the low pulse of jungle rhythms in "The Prayer", IDM and electro fusion in "Word Color", and even the sound of hi-tech breaks in "Sarphi Rocks".

Jesse - Fluids

Jesse

Fluids

12inchHNRPIC008
Höga Nord Rekords
13.04.2018

Finnish band Jesse makes unsentimental and innovative music. What you hear on 'Fluids', released as a 12inch picture disc album on Hoga Nord Rekords, is the sounds of four creative brains' journey into the music universe of the future. Their music is influenced by earth and space - Jesse's astral and cosmic disco is prospective, totally boundless, and vibrant of life and blood. The production sounds luxurious and helps the psychedelic qualities to shine through the sound.

Jesse, who with their first releases some ten years ago played fast and arrogant synth based music, now picks up influences from afro beat, funk and ambient but they've kept the electronic core of their sound - simple chord structures rest upon cool synthesized waves of sound, like a glider carried upwards on the thermals between the summits of the Andes. Soft, pliable and mighty!

Jesses music is dreamy but not unworldly and one thing that makes them special is their ability to place the listener on the edge of their safety zone. There, in the frontier, they explore the possibilities of cross over music.

Jonathan Fitoussi & Clemens Hourrikre - Espaces Timbéks

3 years on, and after their first critically acclaimed album on Versatile, Five steps (aka Jonathan Fitoussi and Clemens Hourrière), who have been likened to the godfathers of the synthesizer genre (think Suzanne Cianni, François Bayle or Morton Subotnik and you're almost there!) are back with 'Espaces Timbrés' a brand new episode in their exploration of the legendary modular synthesizer - The Buchla, specially crafted for Versatile Records. After 2 years of tireless work, ever pushing and furthering their musical research, Fitoussi and Hourrière reveal to us new territories, textures, sounds and feelings to explore with the help of the equally legendary I:Cube on mixing duties to add even more sonic reflections and mixing desk wizardry. This one's a hyper-jump into the future made possible through a machine from the past, giving birth to those most captivating of electronic mantras... dive in, the water's warm!

Sebastian Mullaert & Ulf Eriksson - The Dance Remixed 1

Joey Anderson, Markus Suckut & Wa Wu We remixes! Following the warm reception of The Dance 2xLP Album + live CD recording last year, Kontra-Musik now presents The Dance Remixed 1 & 2. The Dance is a rare and precious project for Kontra-Musik, run by label boss Ulf Eriksson and Sebastian Mullaert (aka Minilogue). The two friends have been touring the world together for quite some time now - Sebastian with his synths and machines and Ulf with his bursting record bag. It's the fusion that makes The Dance such a great experience; the fusion of different techniques and temperaments. Every performance is unique, building upon the connection between Sebastian's live improvisations, Ulf's simultaneous selection and the moving bodies on the dancefloor. Because ultimately, it's The Dance that really matters: the sacred link between the hands of the few with the feet of the many. The hyper-hypnotic beats and melodies of Sebastian Mullaert's haven't just captured the minds and feet of those who have entered The Dance, they've also inspired many fellow artists. On The Dance Remixed 1 & 2, Kontra-Musik and Ulf Eriksson has decided to present a few impressive and diverse interpretations of Sebastian's work, as well as a couple of re-arrangements by Sebastian himself as Wa Wu We. The Dance Remixed 1 features an amazing Joey Anderson track that sounds like Vangelis on a jackin' acid trip, as well as a sinister Markus Suckut remix that brings his own no-nonsense techno label SCKT to mind, but still manages to retain the entrancing qualities of the original track. You'll also find two exquisitely stripped back versions from Wa Wu We, focusing on the bare necessities without losing an inch of the musicality and magnetism of the original tracks. The Dance Remixed 2 features remixes from Efdemin, Voices From the Lake, Ulwhednar & Wa Wu We. It will be released in November.

W.lv.s. - Misericordia Remixes

Astropolis Records adds to Misericordia's W.LV.S (Electric Rescue and The Driver) four remixes that amplifies the rave vibe of the EP released last year, with more power and agression, with four distinguished guests from techno and hardcore spheres: french veteran THE HACKER, the mysterious and rare LUNATIC ASYLUM, the pilar MAXIME DANGLES and techno hardcore figure TORGULL. A must have for all lovers of the french techno and hardcore scene, a wild ride taking you straight to hell ! THE HACKER rebuilds Blacksmith in his vintage and industrial spirit between electro, acid and techno, while the LUNATIC ASYLUM
rework of Misercordia will catch you up in the dark room of dance, with delicious breaks and metallic spirals melodies added to this rave anthem. Flipside, MAXIME DANGLES is turning Misericordia in a muscular but melodic late night techno assault with dark vocals and his typical synths and chords, while TORGULL's version steps up the darkness with a techno hardcore rework, raw, heavily haunted by vocals, textured and sensory.

Superpitcher - The Golden Ravedays 2

Musically and emotionally, Superpitcher's third full-length studio album, The Golden Ravedays is a one sound autobiography that exhibits the skill, feeling and depth of style that the artist has honed over a period of twenty years, musically, and forty-plus-years, emotionally. And full-length it is: The Golden Ravedays is an epic album of 24 tracks that was released in January 2017 and is stretching over 12 respective chapter albums during a one-year period on record label, Hippie Dance.

The second chapter of The Golden Ravedays saga, due for release in February 2017 introduces two further tracks of the haunting sound adventure. Side A introduces a very surprising spectacle of sound entitled What do you miss This track is unlike anything Superpitcher has released in the past. What do you miss is diving into a river, serenely floating past visions that bring calm, just to be overwhelmed by jazzy white waters of saxophone and primal animal poetry all the way from forests long forgotten. Let's Play Doctor is aptly titled as one can't help but imagine a satellite-propelled ambulance meandering through the galaxies without any haste or emergency whatsoever. Almost 20 minutes in length, Let's Play Doctor never bores. It's a playful tribute to taking one's time in enjoying the very now.

Clint Stewart - Warpaint

For Clint's debut solo EP, there was no better way to make his mark than to bring on one of his closest friends and all around musical visionaries, Tone Of Arc.
Warpaint is a cry from the depths of the human spirit to the world outside. A dark and sensual musical journey teeming with emotional howls washed over a relentless beat and sub bass with deep celestial vocals that will make every hair on your body stand straight up. It's the track you won't forget the minute you hear it and the one you will be reliving over and over from that moment on.
Look Into The Sun is a heart melter. It's the sound of summer. It's the sound of any day where the sun shines down kissing the skin of a sea of people dancing in euphoric unison to the warm piano stabs as they build into a dreamy progression while small flashes of a warm vocal wash over you.
Once the breakdown comes, the words "look into the sun" come as if in a dream to introduce a mesmerizing sub bass and a splash of enchanted synths. With all the magical harmony and melody of 'Look Into The Sun', the ever rolling beat ties it all together.
Whether on a beach, a boat, an open air or watching the sunrise through the crack in a window of a dark club, this will bring the warmth of the sun down on you. Good thing it's always summer somewhere.

Mappi Mundi / Quin2 - Antwerp Bio Techno 1989-92 Ep 1

Late eighties, early nineties. A back-alley studio in Antwerp where New Beat and Detroit techno lingered. Trance was still in the house. Electronic body and mind music, fuelled by common sense and primitive artificial intelligence. There was a Buzz about Wonka. Elektrons revolving around Atom. Humanity firmly on the Mappa Mundi. Labels and sub labels, one-off projects and alter egos, unsung heroes and soon-to-be stars. Laurent Garnier pushing Ludovic Navarre to pass on his tapes. All-night light from Koenie's basement. Sven Van Hees entangled in Liaisons Dangereuses. Jan Van Den Bergh before lounge. Jan Vanneste spreading the News. Jan Berquin and Nicolas Rosquin going quadratic. USA Import was ready to export its own music. Antwerp bio techno. Homegrown and uncut. These tracks are evergreens from that place and time.

Acid Mondays - Universal Rhythm

R&S welcomes Acid Mondays for a 12" of lysergic house music that reaches far into the outer cosmos.
Formed "somewhere in the 5th dimension' Acid Mondays is the cosmic coalition of fellow psychonauts Negghead (Dan Ward) and Lex Wolf (Alex Wolfenden).

Repeated transformative visits to Ibiza culminated in landing regular slots at Circoloco where they have been testing this tune in the dance all Summer long.

'Universal Rhythm', their latest interstellar dispatch and debut on R&S is their finest work to date. An anthemic paean to the cosmos that features an impassioned spoken word missive from shamanistic MC Shovell, impressively recorded in a single take, making the case for the universality of experience and oneness of all beings.

Latin rhythms fuse with a driving Fender Rhodes lick (provided by JD73) and percolating cow bells to hypnotic effect. This calls to mind a combination of classic Carl Craig and Villalobos at his most playful. R&S new signing The Maghreban supplies a killer dubbed out take on the original that strips away the heavy kicks and pumps up the percussion, hurtling the synth pads to the fore that comes on like John Carpenter peaking on MDMA.

Burning Rose and Pelvis records meet in the middle to dish up Dormir, a two piece machine from Melbourne, Australia featuring Morgan Wright (formerly of Melbourne hardcore act Imprisoned) and Harry Maslen (formerly of Postblue). Two tracks of blacked out vocal electronics originally released on cassette are now brought to the floor with remixes by Leo James (Canyons, Berceuse Heroique) and Cop Envy (Opal Tapes, Templar Sound). Hailing from outer space via Reykjavik, Volruptus maps out intergalactic forms of communication on 'Alien Transmissions', the latest release from Bjarki and Johnny Chrome Silver's inimitable bbbbbb records.
Title track is a disorienting dose of acid powered electropunkfunk whilst 'Jargon' uses complex polyrhythms to propel a grinding techno stomper. 'Gett Vffreakye' uses percussive breaks and mechanised vocal chops to depict aliens having a live jam in outer space, whilst closing track 'Tesseract' is an angular drum workout featuring animated bass and dissonant pad calls.
Like each bbbbbb release before it, Volruptus presents an intoxicating EP that pairs impeccable sound design with an unruly approach to genre, form and style.

EDMONDSON - WE HAVE LOVE (INC. DAUWD, ASOK REMIXES)

'Edmondson first came to my attention with his Lobster Theramin distributed release, Flamingo Tripper, on his own label 'Lissoms'.

Or so I thought...
Turns out he was actually a guy who used to serve me in one of my favourite pubs in Newcastle.
Back in those days he was a dub step / drum and bass kid, and as per the trend with all of those guys, he's now showing the house heads how its done, with a much keener feel for sound design, groove and a better ear for a sample than 90% of us lazy people who cut our teeth on a 4/4 beat.
Edmondson (or Sean as I did know him... and how I know him once again) is really one of the most exciting producers out there right now for me, and I couldn't be happier that we've reconnected and he's kindly allowed Me Me Me to present some of his amazing music.

"We Have Love' is an instant classic, and PSG is a work of pure emotive art.

To remix We Have Love, I've enlisted Dauwd (fresh from his amazing Album on Technicolour). Sean suggested him, and I jumped on the suggestion as he was one of the first people I met when I moved to Berlin 4 years ago, and I've been trying to figure out a way of working with him since.
He takes a We Have Love down a kind of more delicate and steppy route. It's very pretty, but also really makes you want to dance.

To remix PSG I asked ASOK. Again, I thought I first met ASOK about 7 or 8 years ago, when he came and played for a party I used to throw in Newcastle. After becoming good friends over the years, we got chatting and it turned out that we were both in Magaluf in 1998, and may have actually been involved in the same street brawl. Thats not something either of us are proud of, but its definitely food for thought.
I'm biased, but I think his remix is my favourite thing he's ever done, and I LOVE everything he's touched musically to date, so thats probably an even bigger endorsement than it first seems.
His version is BIG.'

Baby

7"-VinylFM008/PM010.7
Pauls Musique/Freeride Milleni
05.03.2018

The next collaborative release between Freeride Millenium and Pauls Musique is a terrific two-tracker from Manchester artist Joseph Louis Harland Manning under his new alias Los Angeles with the 7 vinyl release artwork designed by Daniel Rajcsanyi as part of his 'BABY' exhibition in Austria. Joseph Louis Harland Manning was the drummer of the band Wu Lyf and is involved in projects like Los Porcos, the Mancunian boyband Menage a Trois and Dream Lovers. Under his other aliases he released on Aficionado, Cracki, Ocean Records and Is It Balearic sub label Uber as well as having made music videos for Molly Nilsson. Here he is fine form across a pair of delicate and moving synth tracks. Opener 'L'amour' is a gentle cut that starts with celestial chords and wide-open expanses of synth before a buried deep groove slowly comes to the fore. Breathy vocals also add to the loved-up, dreamy feel and the whole thing carries you away in a majestic reverie that shifts from ambience to new age house. The track features the artists own field recordings from the streets of Berlin, twisting up sounds from the sidewalk into percussive notes that give an organic feel. The perfectly soothing second offering is 'I Wanna Go To Heaven' is a gorgeous synth piece that suspends you in a crystal clear blue sky on a warm summer's day. Chords are smeared and stretched whilst angelic, wordless vocals drift by. It is the sound of a blissful passage to the afterlife and will leave you feeling cleansed. This is a truly emotive package of music that marks another first rate release on this ever evolving label

Aroop Roy - Brazilian Breakdown Pt.4

London head Aroop Roy takes on Brazilian rhythms for the 4th time on GAMM and its quite possibly the best one yet.

The working formula, simple but yet very well crafted to work both in clubs and for home listening.
First off we get "Flecha De Foga" that uses a rare Nazare Pereira samba track as the foundation but with loads of added chords, beats and production details.

On the flip 'Todo Mundo Tem Amor' marries a driving analogue bassline to an amped up version of another Sul Americano classic - blazing !

Various - White Gardenia Vol. 1

* First release from the Berlin based Jazz-O-Tech Records.

* Since its early days Jazz music has always been experimentatal, trying to contaminate, and integrate different cultures, styles and musical philosophies. Along the years, jazz movement expanded and diversified in many different genres and styles. Electronic music has also always been exprimental and the avant-garde of electronic musicians explored new technologies and new styles of music. Today the two musical frontieers meet and the contamination between jazz and electronic music will enrich both musical languages, changing the grooves but keeping the same depth and spirit of the two genres.
* Jazz-o-Tech is born in order to merge tradition with modernity, improvisation and experimentation, and to create a new style: Techno-Jazz. Finally the elegant arrangements and intricated solos of jazz can develop along the modern structures of Techno and Electronica, taking the listeners on an emotional, hypnotic and intense journey, making us think that future is not that far away.* For its debut release the new label, based between Berlin and Milan, is presenting the new representatives of Techno-Jazz. In this 12' vinyl all the artists represent the new concept that Jazz-o-Tech wants to promote. The argentinian sound designer and experimental musician Paine' is presenting a strong but elegant track full of jazz quotes and pulsing with swing. The DN3 trio (DJ and producer Guido Nemola, trumpet player Cesare Dell'Anna and pianist Mauro Tre) in their track "Lee Theme" mixes elegantly original jazz improvisation and a house inspired rythmic section. Berlin based duo Flat Maze (producer Stefano Mori and pianist Uri Gincel) play with techno grooves and with experimental raw and meditative sounds, but they still leave enough room for silence and emotions. Gamapawa are our final act, probably the most Jazz of all, definitely very much focused on experimenting new forms of contamination of Jazz and Electronica. In "Nobossa" DJ and electronic producer Paine Cuadrelli, trumpet player Mario Mariotti, japanese synth player Gak Sato and bass player Walter Prati (with guest appearance by saxophonist Gianni Mimmo) are providing the finest example of a cross over electronic experimental act which leaves the listeners with plenty of musical references and inspiring moments.

Gauss - Maximum Entropy Ep

Gauss is a collaborative studio project that has been active since 2014. Individually, Chicago native Natan H has released on labels as respected as ManMakeMusic and Finale Sessions, while Maltese producer Owen Jay has been spotted on Underground Quality and Minuendo to name but a few.

Independent from their accomplished solo careers, Gauss has a strong identity all of its own which taps into the immersive mood of Ornate Music while coming at it from a fresh direction. Building on the foundations of their self-released 12" series and appearances on Contrast-Wax and Hizou Deep Rooted Music, the Maximum Entropy EP finds the duo in formidable form.

From low-blowing electro drums to shimmering pads, rugged, snaking house grooves to hypnotic, metallic chords, on this record Gauss have carved out a cohesive sound world that channels the spirit of classic dub techno. It's this common thread that brings the four distinct tracks together into a truly engrossing exercise in deep-diving electronic music.

To celebrate this landmark release each record includes a limited edition printed insert featuring the label artwork from the 1st 25 releases cataloguing the story so far.

Socken fly : wavy

20/20 Vision
18.07.2017

Sometimes amongst all the music that we hear every day, something comes along so unique and brilliant that its captivates your mind and soul and refuses to let go.

That was exactly what happened when we first heard DOKTA - the ex-studio engineer with the freshest take on electronic music we have heard for a long time. Fusing a fully analog working method & live instrumentation with a breathtakingly unique arrangement style, DOKTA combines all his experience working with some of the best in the business and transcends it into one hypnotic stream of genre defying mastery.

For his first EP on 20/20 we are fortunate enough to have remixes from fabric resident Jay Clarke, and a collaborative contribution from Seth Troxler and Bas Ibellini. It is a major milestone for 20/20 to finally have a Seth Troxler production on the label. He has been a great inspiration for us and hugely supportive of our output over the years. Seth went into the studio with good friend Bas and came out with a remix worthy of DOKTA's long abstract arrangements.

We hope you enjoy, and with an album in the pipeline for later this year we promise there is a lot more to come...

I didn't watch twin peaks so i didn't know that this was where the big string chords had come from, it just hit me emotionally and i loved it. i also loved the mournful 'yeah-eah-eah' sample which was so simple but completely perfect. a lot of techno and rave was quite brash at that time and this was an antidote for me. At that age, if i was really into something i would work out how to play it on the piano and i remember sitting in the music room at school, hammering out the 'moby chords' when i should have been practising my scales. i don't really regret that - at least i knew the chords when it came to making a remix years later!' - Rex the Dog - 2016
