true house music classic, Alcatraz's 'Giv Me Luv' returns early-2013 on the 1trax imprint with a wealth of remix talent stepping up, including H-Foundation, Two Armadillos, Doc Martin, Dodha, Shenoda and Secret Society.

Originally released in 1995 on Deep Dish's Yoshitoshi imprint, 'Giv Me Luv' represented some of the finest post-tribal, New York influenced house music around. With possibly the most recognisable stabs in house history alongside the titular vocal refrain and crunching drums, the Victor Imbres and Jean Phillipe Aviance production was undoubtedly the biggest record of the year and saw re-releases on countless labels around the world.





Now, 1trax, have put together the first remix package in the release's history that truly compliments the original's house anthem status. From the modern West-Coast H-Foundation interpretation to Shenoda's distinct UK version, each mix provides a welcome new slant. Giles Smith and the late Martin Dawson's Two Armadillo's project deliver a deep, impeccably judged take while 1trax stalwarts Dodha and Secret Society provide brooding and slo-mo takes respectively. Doc Martin, as you'd expect from a true house master - also nails it.





A bonefide house classic being reworked by some of the genre's finest talents, old and new, is an enticing prospect and this package delivers across the board.

B1. THYLADOMID, this crazy lord of darkness, this stickler for details, shows off his whole manifoldness, combining a bouncy beat with a seductive groove. He carves out the coolness of the track, accentuating it with his own recorded voice that are neither male nor female or both at the same time. B2. SHIVERS* - "Strangers in the Dark" playfully tells a story of mystery and intrigue. The second breakdown creates a new mood as a deep melodic bassline grows and swells up from below, it finally rises to overcome the darkness - and opens up the veil of light and finally you catch a glimpse of that wicked SHIVERS* funk.

Freche Fruchte Recordings boss Alex Alterskye teams up with Humandrone (Lost My Dog, Snuff Trax, We Play House) and Out In The Sticks (Disco Deviance) for an EP of deep underground house grooves. The lead track on the label's first vinyl EP is Humandrone's analogue and emotional re-rub of Alex's raw, deep and groovy 'You'll Be Right', while Alex's other original 'Always With You' is a heads-down tracky affair. Rounding off the EP, Sydney-based enigma Out In The Sticks who provides the perfect balance between old-school Chicago house feeling and polished production values in his remix of 'Be Good To me'.

From an early age Alex Alterskye has had a huge interest in electronic music from the jacking sounds of Chicago through to Germanic tech house. Keen to avoid pigeon-holes, Alex works on the principle that people want to go out and dance, but they want to have their musical boundaries expanded with forward thinking underground tracks that really get the floor moving. His music has been supported by Mic Newman, James Johnston, Chris Duckenfield and loads more.

Humandrone is a project by Japanese producer Takaaki Shibuya. After a move to Tokyo he established his own label Canaria Schallplatten with DJ Mary&Kent before going on to release music for Lost My Dog, Snuff Trax, We Play House, Burek and more - penning tracks played by Andrew Weatherall, Glimpse, Ralph Lawson and Jimpster. Humandrone makes rhythm machine-conscious music through the full use of hardware equipment and calls his style of music "science-fictional street music".

The remixes of Nick Curly's album "Between the lines" taking the step to the next level with the second part of the series. No other than the New Yorker house legend Dennis Ferrer showed his skills on Nick Curly's "Underground" track. Great fancy vibe with his special NY touch. On AA Nico and Christian from Kollektiv Turmstrasse worked on "Between" and spent a beautiful emotional remix, one more masterpiece of the guys from north germany. Dark massive bass and crazy ghostly echo developing strings describes the great remix of "Inside my head" by Glimpse. On BB we got some Mannheim support, from the great newcomer "Bunte Bummler" and Nick Curly's brother "Steffen Deux". After Tom Trago's 'Use Me Again' took dance floors across the world by a storm this summer, 'Rise Up' / 'Sky High' is his follow up single which should fire up the crowd during the winter.
Tom Trago and Cinnaman (local Amsterdam DJ) got together in the studio and out came 'Rise Up'. They somehow managed to mix freestyle, minimal, low-fi and bass together to create a cross-over house explosion. Based around a quirky bass line and vocal, the track keeps building until a catchy synth stab drops in which elevates the track to the next level.
'Sky High' sounds like a late night basement session, which is actually the case, recorded in the studio of the Serendeepity/Barking Dogs crew from milan, with San Proper and friends joining in on vocals. A bittersweet love song in which San yearns for a simultaneous high, which is backed up by a deep, silky house groove. A late night production made for late night entertainment. Comes as vocal dub and as original demo mix.

Um den Sommer mal endlich hinterm Ofen vorzulocken, haben wir die 'Choose Your Destiny EP' durch den Remixwolf drehen lassen. Nancy's Room' hat sich René Bourgeois ganz im Stil seiner Remixe für Shakerplates, Atmosphere und Pimprinella vorgenommen und in eine so dicke Open Air Hymne verwandelt, dass sogar 007 gerne mal auf dem Rave vorbei schauen wird.

Jens Lewandowski feierte kürzlich sein Debut auf dem Berliner Label Supdub und nun auch seinen Remix Einstand bei Powder & Louder und hat eine schöne, deepe und minimale Version von 'Der Hobbyastronaut' aus dem Rechner fallen lassen.

'Der Kosmoprolet' ging in Einzelteilen nach Argentinien und kam als fetter NoDisc Remix zurück. Der Mann heisst Julio und ist in der Clubmusik Szene Newcomer, jedoch nicht im produzieren...wir haben selten so eine fette Bassline gehört !

Um das Paket abzurunden hat Wolfgang Lohr (bekannt von seinen Releases auf Ton liebt Klang!) The Chosen Two's Strebergarten bisschen umgegraben und in eine groovige Peaktime Electro Swing / House Nummer verwandelt.

In order to lure the summer out of its hibernation, we had the 'Choose Your Destiny EP' go through the meat grinder. René Bourgeois's take on 'Nancy's Room' is following the style of his remixes Shakerplates, Atmosphere and Pimprinella, making it into a big ass open air hymn that would even make 007 want to drop by at the rave.


Jens Lewandowski previously celebrated his debut on the Berlin-based Supdub label, which is now followed by his remix debut on Powder & Louder. He cranked a beautiful, deep, and minimal version of 'Der Hobbyastronaut' out of the CPU.


'Der Kosmoprolet' went to Argentina as parts and returned as a sick NoDisc remix. The name of the man is Julio. He is a newcomer in the club music scene, but not when it comes to producing... we hardly ever heard such a fat bassline!


To make the deal complete, Wolfgang Lohr (who is known from his releases on Ton liebt Klang!) gently plowed through The Chosen Two's Strebergarten and transformed it into a groovy Peaktime House track.
