Fresh from his epic long player collaboration with Benjamin Damage, Doc Daneeka rolls in with two tough and red-blooded rhythms for Roska Kicks & Snares. This is the Doc back to his rugged and insistent best, with the emphasis on heavy bass and tribal percussion intertwining together in raw harmony. Peppered with soundbwoy samples, both cuts appeal to those wanting something a little tougher in their musical diet and is a welcome forward-sounding move by the versatile and talented producer. On remix duty the non-stop production trio and huge UK Funky talents Funkystepz give a more suppressed yet enchanting re-imagination to Daneeka's mighty approach. A bed of resting synths bubble under and allow the bass to become the focal point with a masterful rearrangement proving Funkystepz' firm status as top dogs. Yet again this maintains the Kicks & Snares manifesto of making even the hardest nut move on the floor.

Making their first foray into vinyl release, Club Soda present a new three track EP from West London producer Guy Haans. This EP will appeal to both long term dubstep devotees and more recent disciples of the UK bass music scene. Taking its cue from producers like Joker, Ikonika and LD, this is immaculately produced dubstep: deep, dark and dub-wise, crafted in the finest tradition of the genre before the mid-range brigade crashed the party. It has already been played on Dublin's Play FM and been featured on dubstep / bass blogs such as subrewind and dub selekta, where comparisons to seminal producers such as Joker were again drawn. Club Soda Records is a new label specialising in deep dubstep, bass music and alternative electronica. Launching in 2011, the imprint immediately caught the eyes and ears of London bass-heads with an astonishing video for debut single 'Thermo-Nuclear War' by Many Minds. Scroobius Pip tweeted his admiration and a remix by Dan le Sac followed on the imprint's first single of 2012. The Guy Haans single is Club Soda's debut vinyl release, presenting this music in the format it was meant to be heard on. With its rolling bass and analogue sounds, this single was built for the turntables of bass-heavy vinyl enthusiasts.

Carrying on from the success of their last release from Artifact, Deadplate Records present Hackman & Bluto's "What Matters". "What Matters" is a bouncing House track with a weighty bass line, sure to waken up any dance floor and perfectly timed for the Summer. Marimba vibes keep this track bubbling along with an addictive and strong melody that has become unanimous with Hackman's style. James Fox creates a powerful 4/4 remix on the flip, stripping back the original and bringing a mid-90's UK Garage flavour to the table.

The Dutch Lowriders Collective present a mini album by Spanish producer Slam Funk!. This record is Strand's maiden voyage into funk sounds from the 70s and 80s with an un*conservative spirit. Slam Funk! is not a look back to the past but a vision of what today and the future could be like. Mixing up Old school funk vibes and instruments with modern sounds and vocoders. 8 tracks drenched in that computer funk we know of the Lowriders. This is what XLR8R magazine said about the release: ''Expect a suitably exuberant experience. Strandalicious fires ray after ray of molten-hot synthesizer licks throughout its three-minute run time, the melodies ricoheting around a pitch-shifting drum pattern that hovers above an oscillating bassline''. Noiz is a step back from Kromestar's uptempo wicked wobblers, leaning more towards an anthemic banger. With slowly rising and oscillating mid-range siren like distortion juxtaposed by skittering 808 hi-hats and half-step kick snare percussion, this one will blow up a dance. You can even hear Kromestar go mad for it and call it 'Kromestep.'Dark Tantrums goes absolutely mental with The Growler. Soul Motive have always been representative of the current strains of Bristol's ever flourishing tapestry of music scenes so it makes perfect sense that the label would call on the Young Echo collective sooner or later. After some notable releases for fellow Bristol hubs Idle Hands and Punch Drunk, Kahn steps forth with another example of his undoubted talent for making music that spans the shades of the bass music spectrum with the rowdy yet soulful 2 step bump of "Angeles." The first release from NM Black is Ganja Man, Ganja Woman, produced by NM's new signing Killa Mosquito, a production collective fresh on the scene fronted by Curtis Lynch. Techno, is way above the Rave-dogma which dominated Industrial Techno during the 90s. The dark side of high end
production, as you may call it. With a great sense of distinct melody and harmony, Vogel as a producer roughs up the
digital surfaces. This is how he adds depth and body to his music, which is something a lot of techno-related produc-
tions are lacking. With CRISTIAN VOGEL, digital clarity has patina and at the same time sounds hazy.

Dreams' and 'Last Time' might mark Truth's debut release on Tempa, but the duo have been carving out their own cavernous spaces for quite some time. With previous releases through dubstep hubs like Mala's Deep Medi label, Skream's Disfigured Dubz, among others, they have honed a distinctive take on the genre: Truth tracks have a cinematic twist, all open spaces and soft-focus melody where many of their contemporaries trade in dissonance and claustrophobia.

Frijsfo Beats believe everything they release is fresh. At the same time they understand it doesn't hurt to stay in touch with your roots, which is something Buzzin10 does in a fascinating way. We can't tell you much about this young producer from East London, a publicity-shy individual whose music the label first heard thanks to his older brother. But we do know he pieces together rhythms by sampling fragments from old tape packs, mainly Garage Nation's late '90s recordings of some of the best DJs of all time, including DJ EZ, Karl "Tuff Enuff" Brown, DJ Luck & MC Neat, and Ray Hurley. This record's grooves come reinforced with cast iron beats, the sort other people just don't make any more. That said, it could hardly be mistaken for an excercise in nostalgia, as the bump 'n' flex is a springboard for something more unsettling. The bittersweet atmosphere of 'Basement Mood' could be imagined as a mythical encounter, Grant Nelson versus Aphex Twin at his most haunting. By the same logic, 'String Ting' is an improbable meeting of M-Dubs and Drexciya, its sharp breakbeat funk caught up in stormy arpeggios. 'Buzzin Twelve' is icier still, bouncing an ominous choral synth patch off of its elastic bassline. Regardless of any connections with the past, such references only go so far in conveying Buzzin10's uniqueness. More importantly still, it's an established fact from rigorous testing that each of these tunes works without fail on a dancefloor. This EP is only a selection of the material lined up; listen up and keep your ears open for more.

After revealing themselves as Ollie and If Music owner Jean-Claude of Amalgamation of Soundz fame, London based dub and bass duo Cessa return with another 12" on their Missing Link Sounds imprint. On vocal duty is Jamiacan-born Mozez, who is best known as the singer of the British downtempo group Zero 7. On "Tek A Step" warm acid meets Caribbean vibes, building into the perfect track to ease into Summer. On the flip, "Step In The Water" starts out with classic 2-step rhythms and with the help of Mozez's soulful vocals, slowly transforms itself into an epic dub reggae tune. Cessa's releases ...

2methyl (aka 2methylBulbe1ol) is an up and coming 26 year old audio heavyweight from the East of France. At first a fan of Post-Hardcore, Grindcore and Noise Rock, his discovery of Venetian Snares and Xanopticon opened new boundaries for him to explore, resulting in his own distinctive, crushing sound.
