Calling all frequency band cosmic adventurers, all ninth dimension space cadets. Please fasten your seat belts as we begin our
descent - this one you!
South London imprint 92 Points is back but this time in a year 3,000 style via Moscow bringing you the sounds of 813. Fresh from a
recent outing on Donky Pitch and having drawn the attention of the likes of Mary Anne Hobbs and Pitchfork Magazine the 25 year old
producer/fire fighter definitely has a bright future ahead of him. 'Blend', his second work on wax is transmitting direct from a galaxy
far, far away. The six tracks that make up the E.P. range from the interstellar funk musings of 'La Fantiko' to the cloud hopping
excursion of 'Pan O Matika' to the '80s channeling synth madness of 'Erotica'. Indeed it is Om Unit's remix of 'Erotica' that brings the
E.P. to a close sounding like Wiley, Cyndi Lauper and the Neptunes trapped in an ice rink over night!

The celebratory releases toasting 10 years of Motech have so far been hugely impressive, with the likes of Rob Hood, Luke Hess, Ken Ishii and Delta Funktionen all remixing label boss Franki Juncaj, better known as DJ 3000. Here we are treated to something a little different, with OktoRed and The Eerier Child commissioned to remix "Moodstream", one of the highlights from the recent Invisible Moods album. The results, pressed up on a delicious little 7", are endlessly intriguing: the electro-tinged OktoRed version bumps and bleeps in all the right places, while The Eerier Child tweak (exclusive to this release) veers into heads-down dubstep territory with creaking atmospherics and droning whooshes of sub bass that threaten to dislodge the needle from its groove. Linval Thompson & Manasseh - Show Babylon

Dropping their milestone tenth release, Mixmag's current Label Of The Week Reggae Roast continue to bring together exciting artists from the world of reggae, dub and beyond. 'Show Babylon' is yet another slice of hard hitting dub by Linval Thompson, a true legend of the genre, with a heavyweight dubstep remix from TMSV, one of the best up and coming producers in the game. From the mid-1970s to the mid-1980s, the name Linval Thompson and the Thompson Sounds moniker had serious currency in the world of Jamaican reggae. In addition to his reputation as a vocalist on over a dozen albums, Thompson was the producer of over 40 albums and hundreds of singles by artists including Dennis Brown, Freddie McGregor, Barrington Levy, Eek-A-Mouse, Gregory Isaacs, The Wailing Souls, Triston Palma, Cornell Campbell, Johnny Osbourne, The Viceroys, and Sugar Minott. Nick Manasseh has been deeply involved in the development of the UK roots scene for the past two decades, championing his distinctive production style with many of the biggest talents of his generation. He is also responsible for introducing many new people to the genre through his seminal radio show on Kiss FM which ran for a staggering 12 years. His productions have backed several Reggae Roast releases including the previous single with Kenny Knots and the ever popular 'Reggae Music' by Earl 16. TMSV is an emerging producer from The Netherlands with releases on Tube10 and Box Clever. His recent remix of Movado's 'Dem A Talk' was voted in the top 5 remixes of the year on Dubstep Forum and he is widely tipped as one to watch for 2012. Here he adds a deep, percussive flip to the original.

Opus / El-b & Filth Arris - I'm Goin In / Where I Live

The Original Dubstep label 'Ghost Recordings' celebrates it's return with the second arrival to the Limited Edition series.
With a decade passed since the first Limited Edition 'Dance hall EP' the gang felt it overdue for another, and what better
way to return than with the introduction of two new & talented producers. Opus delivers a deep weighty bass hook with drums so similar to the original dubstep sound. Together with an all so familiar La Roux sample it sets the tone for the perfect club/radio track. Dubstep pioneer El-B goes back to back with new producer/dj Filth Arris to create a very distinctive slice of ghetto garage/gangsta dubstep. Alternating bass grooves and lossely swung drum patterns create a very raw & infectiously easy to dance to club/radio banger.

PARADISE LOST

limited white vinyl pressing! Chewie stands taller-than-the-other-Wookie in the Dubstep scene at the moment, blowing out eardrums 'round the globe from his outpost down under. This UK transplant graces Paradise Lost with a vicious, apocalyptic EP of razor-sharp basslines and ominous textures that will kick you in the gut 140 times per minute.Title track 'Survival' is built in the run-and-gun style, mixing Chewie's patented writhing basslines with sci-fi textures and soundscapes of doom into a maelstrom of sonic badness that will weed out the weak-at-heart from the dancefloor. 'Outpost 31' takes things to a colder, steppy level and is the sort of psychological mind-f**k of a tune that one might rock out to in an Antartic outpost being infiltrated by shapeshifting aliens (Outpost 31... anyone). The flipside sees Riskotheque taking the reigns on his remix rendition of 'Survival', delivering a deeper, darker, techier variation on the original's epic theme - deadly stuff in the original Risko stylee! Finally, 'Slipstream' is full-on, raving-off-yer-head mayhem, but with a level of quality that those producing "popular" Dubstep at the moment can only ever hope to attain. As a bonus exclusive to the digital release, 'Adagio For Dub' combines a well-known classical theme with trademark bassline science and floorshredding beats. All this adds up to the total package of dancefloor destruction and is brought to you by your dear friends at Paradise Lost and man-of-the-moment Chewie. Cop it!

27.06.2012

The new Wheel and Deal production partnership between N-Type and Surge, releasing their 1st EP: September Sun. A: September Sun ft Pyxis - After the success of Surges first single with Pyxis (Leech), she once again delivers her signature vocal style, this time laid down on the fresh and original collaboration between Wheel and Deal label head N-Type and rising star Surge. The combination of production styles has built a fresh take on the dubstep sound. This featured in N-Types mini mix for Mistajams Radio 1 show earlier this year, with continuous radio support from Hatcha at Kiss 100, Mistajam, Walsh (Biscuit Factory Records) and N-Types Rinse FM show, every Tuesday 9-11pm. B: Mega-Tron - Featuring live guitar from Jonny Boltano, showcasing a different side to the duos production skills. Rolling rock style drums and build ups drop into a continuously transforming bassline. As the the track develops, the influx of the orchestra ends the track dramatically. Being battered by Hatcha at Kiss 100, Soap Dodgers, Laxx, Walsh, N-Type & Surge. This also featured in N-Types mini mix for Mistajams Radio 1 show earlier this year. C: Triangles - Old school Jungle/DnB, dub and techno influences rain through in this track. Dark & atmospheric, this could easily be a soundtrack of horror film proportions. The Bass is thick and punchy with the eerie sample 'Dark Triangles!' slicing through the darkness. Support from Mistajam, Hatcha, Soap Dodgers, Walsh, N-Type & Surge. D: Zombie Apocalypse - This one is more on the jump up side, proving the diversity in N-Type & Surge's production style. As the zombies approach, tension builds to the drop with the dramatic sample 'This is the End'. The bass is weighty and growling, like a blood thirsty monster. The second drop steps up the pace with a staggered, automated bass rinse out.

Tri Angle presents the debut EP of another enigmatic young producer from the broadband underground, Howse. 'Lay Hollow' takes us deeper than we've ever been into the mournful electronic underworld that Tri Angle has so successfully colonised - hypnotising us with vapour-trail synths and footwork drums tranquillised down to a funereal andante, but keeping us ever so slightly on edge with the sound of distant crow-calls and Boards of Canada-style atmospherics. It's the extraordinary 'VBS' that provides the highlight of the EP - here there's footwork torque as well as texture, ghetto-shaking subs and skippy, accelerated 808 patterns framing coital moans and ominous strings. 'Old Tea' combines stormy ambience with drum programming that borders on d'n'b rollage; 'Depths' further caters to the ghost-steppers before before 'Fete' sees us out on an air-mattress of airy string-pads and hungover, sleep-deprived Reese bass.
