White Asega co-­owner Jack Dixon wrote New Curtains after a friend who was coming wildly off the rails told him he was a good producer but his tunes were boring. The original version was really sparse and about 300bpm. When Jack moved to New York the parts got lost, so he remade the track a dozen times. This was the version we all liked best, although Jack never wants to hear it again in his life. It sounds tough and tropical. Our friend Troy Gunner remixed it, and turned it into something so loud and slamming it will knock your teeth out.

After telling Jack to stop making boring music, Mark Kodiak spent two horrendous years working with Jamie Kodiak on a song they've called Taargus. It nearly destroyed their friendship forever but we think it was worth it. It has brutal weapon sounds, nasty snares and an incessant 'yo' that has been described as 'annoying and unnecessary'. The artist Tom Pounder has created a blinding video for it that contains brand new colours. French born bass genius Bambounou stepped up to remix the track, taming the wild stems into a hypnotic early­morning House stepper.

It took us approximately 2000 exhausting Facebook group chats, four cross­Atlantic flights and one divorce to get to this point. We hope you will enjoy this record for the rest of your lives.

* 'Proto' focusses on the very brief sparks of innovation when new scenes were just forming and genre
rules and paradigm were still grey areas; the early bleep track days when imported American techno was
starting to be appropriated by the UK, the 93-94 proto era when hardcore was morphing into jungle and
later when the darker sound of tech-step reared its mechanical, dystopian head.

* All of this is underpinned with 'Wot U Call It' grime sensibilities and Mumdance & Logos' trademark sonic disortientation. Mumdance & Logos concentrate on taking the moods and colours created by these leaps forward in sound and twisting them into something new; keeping in line with the futuristic visions of the originators.

* Both producers had a banner 2014, launching their new label Different Circles and spearheading a
movement of "spatially untethered club trax" coined Weightless. Mumdance took up a residency on Rinse
FM, went B2B with Tectonic boss Pinch on their acclaimed mix release ("no one else is putting music
together quite like this" - RA 4/5) before being selected for RBMA Toyko. Logos, aside from appearing
with the Boxed crew across London, had a new track 'Metropolis' top Keysound stable comp 'Certified
Connections' and had 2013's debut 'Cold Mission' LP checked in FACT's 100 best albums of decade so
far.

The fourth Tempa Remix 12' — following on from Modeselektor's remix of Headhunter — brings together remixes of two of the label's deadliest tracks.

On the A-side, label figurehead Youngsta remixes Truth's sinister 'Devil's Hands' into a throbbing 4/4 monster — amping up the chiming melodies and chasms of sub-bass of the original.

On the B-side, Truth show off their own remixing skills, bringing even more alien dread to J:Kenzo's already dubbed-out original.

You've Never Been Alone', the first single from the WALLS EP, was co-produced by Rob McAndrews aka Airhead, recently acclaimed by Pitchfork for his debut album 'For Years' (R&S, 2013), and mixed by the stellar French sound engineer Stephane 'Alf" Briat (Air, Phoenix, Sebastien Tellier, Francoise Hardy, etc.). The song gives an original, continental answer to the UK based 'twisted R&B-sung-by-cutely-breathy females scene" (The Guardian) that has been much-trumpeted lately. With its interrupted, intricately detailed and effects-washed sound, 'You've Never Been Alone' is an idiosyncratic yet fiercely melodic, groove-based pop hit. Throughout her EP, Andrea explores relationships, restlessness and dislocation, using a smorgasbord of sounds to dig down into the heart of her nomadic upbringing.

File Andrea's ethereal deep soul dubstep sounds and her fairy-like unique voice next to FKA Twigs, Little Dragon, The XX & SBTRKT, add some Cocteau Twins and Kate Bush reminiscence and you will not regret it. Currently writing her first album, Andrea Balency is a hauntingly beautiful singer you don't want to mess with.

Bristol based Mensah Anderson delivers something a little different from his current output and DJ sets for his first release on DEEP MEDi. The Gambia was picked up by Mala almost two years ago and has yet to leave his record bag. It featured heavily in Mala's XLR8R's podcast, which was voted Best of 2011.'The Gambia' is a slow burning, dark minimal and heavily tribal journey taking in elements of Techno, Afrobeat with a touch of Danchall, this output leans more towards Mensah's alias 'New York Transit Authority' than previous Mensah releases and also shows the diversity of Mensah as a producer. 'Trailing Moons Of Saturn' on the flip takes on a more laid back and cinematic approach with it's subtly layered synths, thunderous bass stabs and intergalactic rave vibes and effects.

'The A-side of Bad Seed Audio's debut release looks to awaken your deepest fears. Gun Talk is a provocative stepper that sweeps the floor with anything that crosses its path. Matt-U, co-owner of this fresh new imprint and producer of its first release, delivers a cut that contains both an infectious and escalating groove.

'Signals, the flipside, is a moody growler that fires short bursts of violent energy, setting off a vibe that ties with its forerunning fit. A reverb'd pulse adds vigorous amounts of depth, while its melody instigates an almost melancholic setting.

'The release's brilliant digital exclusive, Burpee, must have been a hard decision to cut. The craze behind its LFO workout may make the listener wonder why this eerie production is not seeing wax.

Its second drop is larger than large, containing an overstimulating dose of hi-hat placement that highlights the producer's ability to amaze.

A/T/O/S, pronounced "A Taste Of Struggle" is the project of Amos & Truenoys. Introduced by a mutual friend, A/T/O/S started
creating music together and their first invention "A Taste Of Struggle" has been quickly snapped up by dub pioneer Mala, signing
them to his label DEEP MEDi. Impressive remixes by Skream and Commodo and an early spin of their debut by BBC 6 Music's Mary
Anne Hobb's hands A/T/O/S an almost perfect platform for success in 2013.
A/T/O/S have also produced a stand out video for "A Taste Of Struggle", created by Simon Mannaerts, featuring an unnerving yet
beautiful animation, in turn keeping up the curious enigma the duo has already crafted.

They have been producing for about 7 years and are signed to Dubstep label DEEP MEDi MUSIK and have played various Dj gigs
across Europe. They've had numerous appearances in the Dubstep scene such as Dubstep Allstars Vol7, featuring 2 of their tracks,
Guest appearances at Rinse.fm, DMZ, Subdub and DEEP MEDi Xmas Parties. With various tracks played on Kiss, Sub fm other
internet radio stations with support from Coki, Mala, Dj Chef, Compa, Joe Nice, N-Type, Commodo, Von D and many more.

What better way to celebrate Innamind Recording's tenth vinyl release than a five track double 12' edition of superior soundsystem
constructions from the Finnish master, LAS. The 'Your Eyes EP' represents a landmark in LAS's already remarkable discography - his
most extensive and ingenious collection of music yet - and for Innamind, is another stellar release that further strengthens their
reputation for releasing the scene's most essential dubstep.
LAS's deft use of space, bassweight dread, original sound design and marrying diverse styles and moods is in full effect on the 'Your
Eyes' EP. The titular track's anxious atmosphere and pattering, tension-building drums develop into a off-kilter anthem, laden with
thick bass-pressure and swung rhythms that leave you unstable on your feet. The unique way in which he interchanges powerful
pulses of bassline and minimal, yet immaculately timed percussive accents to create so much groove in his tracks is again executed
brilliantly on 'Pirates' and 'Temper' - another pair of weapons from the EP to incite full-scale skanking in the dance. The latter
showcases LAS's ability to change the vibe in an instant, as it brings a powerfully melancholic, distant piano melody. The steel
percussion, Caribbean rhythms and a beautiful vocal sample on 'Lesson' heighten the dubwise edge that runs throughout the EP.
Just when you thought LAS couldn't surpass the already ridiculously high production standards he has set for himself, he does -

* The Hyperion EP kicks off with the title track pounding in at 120bpm - hard and heavy but realxed and grooved, calling the listener to look upwards and outwards toward infinity. London's Powell works with opposites, in a way
that's delightfully disconcerting. His tracks, on the
surface, seem relatively uniform - but listen closer,
or at punishing volume, and they teem with detail:
wiry guitars, sinister yelps, synth figures that fizz like
bubbles through sparkling water. Across two EPs in
2012 for his own Diagonal label and one for Death
Of Rave in 2013, he has established himself as one
of the UK's most unique electronic musicians.
Powell's tracks flirt with the dynamics and structures
of club music while joyfully subverting them,
throwing acoustic sound sources or disembodied
voices into the mix to play havoc with the groove.
Indeed, the three tracks on his new Fizz EP for
Liberations Technologies are some of the most
mischevious club-rooted music you're likely to hear
all year. They nod obliquely to Powell's history with
jungle and early drum & bass - compared to the
techno-esque momentum of his earlier releases,
here he's almost subliminally ratcheted up the
tempo, turning these tracks into blistering forward
barrages of percussion and dusty bass. On 'Fizz',
sub-bass throbs like a motorbike engine, paired with

Proxima begins the launch of his debut album 'Alpha' with the release of 'Trapped', a lean halfstep monolith that ranks as one of his toughest and most minimal tracks so far, and which has been a deadly fixture in the arsenal of the scenes leading DJ's in recent months.

Released two weeks after Trapped, 'Alpha' follows on from a string of blistering singles for Tempa, which found the Dutch producer carving out a stark and synthetic vision of 140bpm club music.

Alpha gathers Proxima's most fully realised music to date - widescreen in sound but packing intense sound system force. Next to the tinny grind that's characterised some of dubstep's harder side in recent years, its tracks are rendered in full 3D, with percussion lines moving in snakelike coils around firestorm distortion, and icepick melodies that cut sharply into the foreground.

Its self-contained vision and frosty evocations of deep space recall the interstellar techno voyages of Detroit pioneers like Jeff Mills, Dopplereffekt and DJ Stringray. While its rhythmic intricacy and steely poise recall both Shogun Audio's wiry funk and the machine soul of dBridge and Exit Records.

Ninjato, formerly known as Störungstelle, is a Shaolin glitch master from the streets of Ghent. He created the ninja character based on the sounds of Amon Tobin, Eskmo, Loops Haunt & Lorn: heavy sound design combined with organic leads, humongous drops & kamikaze driven melodies. Over the years Ninjato has shared the battle field with some of his musical heroes such as Shabazz Palaces(AB), Loops Haunt, Slugabed, Doshy & more.


Chronicles of the 6 samurai tells the story of a warrior on a quest through a psychedelic maze. On his path he comes across 6 foes whom he has to conquer with his laser blade.

Unconditional Music return to introduce a vinyl debut by a creative young UK talent CORTICYTE.

Corticyte fuses a strong emphasis on bold forward-facing rhythms with an interest in incorporating sounds and techniques from more experimental electronic realms. Add to this well judged melodic details where appropriate and you have a well rounded artist who could develop his talents in a number of directions. We're touting him as one to watch.

We have attempted to display the dexterity at the man's hand with 4 different examples of his natural abilities.

'MODULATE' has already proved to be a dancefloor smasher down here in our hometown Brighton. After dropping at our own events and guest appearances we have seen firsthand the dramatic effect this tune has in the club.

The opening rhythm has a gimey flavour whilst being programmed at a tantalising house tempo. Lo-sub sinewaves underpin a metallic syncopated drum motif that immediately pricks up attention. This gives way to a lush and epic synth breakdown that will have those ravers' hands raising on the floor. The classic 'Think' break (beloved by B-More house producers) drops in the midst of this further intensifying the anticipation.

When THAT rhythm drops back into the track, it's simply Game Over in the dance.

'Xi_b^ - v2' is tight but supple - 808 drums and rimshots fire off in different directions whilst never losing the groove giving this a freestyle feeling. The synths are emotive, suggesting a deep pensive mood that threatens to boil over. It's a tension / release deal - holding you in it's grip and never quite letting go....

'CRITICALITY' has a whiplash bolshy drum approach reinforced by loaming & ominous bass tones and groans. This track sits neatly next to the current bruk-130 style being developed in cities such as Bristol. It once again also reminds of the clashy gritty appeal of grime production. The drop features found environmental sounds that add to the atmosphere. A dark dancefloor werker to lend a stiff backbone to a set.

'SIGNAL TO NOISE' addresses an affinity with dub-techno. A slow motion half-stepper with splashes of liquified melody decorating a deeply entrancing groove. Subtle metallic techno loops filter and weave their way into the 2nd section. A heads down hypnotiser.

We hope you enjoy this ep as much as we have felt privileged to select and compile it.
