Ministry of Sound's Masterpiece series has so far produced a collection of mixes that are already considered timeless by many. With dance music luminaries Andrew Weatherall, Gilles Peterson, Fabio & Grooverider, Jazzie B and Francois K taking the Masterpiece concept and curating seminal mix compilations.
For the latest instalment in this inspirational series, Ministry of Sound have employed the services of a Techno leviathan, a man who hails from the Mecca of Techno, Detroit and someone who not only grew up with the sound but is considered to be one of the foremost pioneers of the genre, a Grammy-nominated visionary and an artist who has consistently pushed the envelope when it comes to making and performing electronic music. Carl Craig is his name and we are very pleased to have such an esteemed member of electronic music fraternity contributing to the Masterpiece series.
With his label, remixes, original productions and collaborations Carl's list of achievements is endless, indicative of a man who never stops working and whose depth of musical knowledge is unsurpassed. Love OD label boss Per Martinsen AKA Mental Overdrive returns with his first vinyl release since 2010's piano-driven beauty 'My House'. Since then he has released a series of digital-only EP's and a Bandcamp-exclusive album, and the title track on this new vinyl release, 'Monster', was originally included on the 'Everything is connected EP#2' - released through Love OD in 2012. The reworked and remixed '12" version' featured on this new release is severely beefed up, and presents a fine slice of 'rave disco' (if that ever was considered a genre in its own right), and might please both those who like big music in small, dark rooms or big music in, well, big rooms. The B-side features the bouncy, percussion-heavy and organ-driven journey 'Ritual'. Hot on the tails of his much discussed contribution to the latest edition of Tectonic Plates Volume 4, 'Talk', and following up from his debut EP on Tectonic last Autumn, the eponymously titled 'DECiBEL EP', Jay Fotaine, aka DECiBEL, comes correct with a powerhouse duo of techno-infused 140bpm cuts.
'Whirl' takes a giddying tone from the offset as it's fast, percussive drum machine hits build pace to militant and forceful effect - like a turbo-charged, mid-90s Richie Hawton cut, re-imagined by fresh ears. Woozy snare rolls crash in over the weighted subs, instantly lighting the dance floor on fire upon impact. Flip then for 'Poke', which retains the techno-retro themes of 'Whirl', layering up the percussive parts to dramatic effect as acid lines flit and flirt around them. The heat rises and builds, then drops to nothing for a brief, deceptive moment - crashing in again with off-kilter momentum. Both sides are wonky, woozy techno cuts at the 140bpm dubstep tempo - bursting with strange energy.

For the 13th release from Paris' ghetto club label, ClekClekBoom turns to Coni, the man who released their sophomore effort in

Another visionary Dub-Techno album from Berliner producer FENIN. He is a SHITKATAPULT artist since the label's existence and always experimenting with musical soundscapes, echoes and beats. A journey through ten years of producing is to be found on his last release MAXIS AND MIXES, containing classics like DONE and clubhit NONE OF THEM. With his new album HEARTWARE he opens a new musical chapter of his work, which is Dub/Techno influenced and evolves from there. Lars FENIN manages to create tracks like the album opener ES GIBT SCHLIMMERES which works with a massive bassline without any HiHats, bassdrums or clicks. Chords and echos are moving around the bassline, filling it with soul. The beats come in with PICKING UP and takes the album through a jungle of sounds. Highlights are also the afrobeat track WINDSURF or the hit RECEIVER, that Lars produced with the singer POLY, both timelessly beautiful and totally FENIN. On HEARTWARE it's the sounddesign and mix that makes the album so special, often rather developing towards an ambient-mood, rather than dancefloor-mood. The various style can also be heard in clubtracks like TONES AND DROVES, SILENT TRAIL or RESTLESS. Towards the end of HEARTWARE we find proper Dub again: DOWNHILL begins groovy and dubby and looses itself in the end in echoes and dissolving beatstructures, overlaying each other, slowly fading away into open spaces. SAME PICTURES comes up from there with the wonderful voice of WYANNA FRIEDRICH sung over atonal chords, discosounds, broken beats and a crystal-clear chorus. Is this pop music after all

youAND:THEMACHINES is the solo project of Martin who is a part of youANDme.
"BEHIND" is his longplayer debut on ORNAMENTS and is a mirror of all his influences from dub
techno, ambient, downbeat, Detroit techno and house music. Never before has Martin incorporated his
music so much in analog hardware, field recordings and hidden messages.
He has invited orchestral musicians to collaborate on the project and one of his main ideas was to use
no samples and generate every sound with a range of classic analog instruments using modern
techniques of the year 2013 without loosing the old spirit.
Guests vocal collaborations from around the world include Robert Owens, Brothers' Vibe, Delhia de
France, Keter Darker and Bajka. Each of them adding their unique character to the album indulging
the listener into new mystical directions.

Marcel Dettmann makes his debut on the Dekmantel imprint and takes on two Vedomir alias Vakula remixes. So what else to expect but forward thinking techno from the man who has been widely regarded as one of the genres most respected dj's Keywords are stripped, dark, raw, hypnotizing and dystopian; we could almost say 'business as usual' from this longtime Berghain-resident, who received remixes requests from the likes of Scuba, Modeselektor, Trus'Me and Junior Boys in the past, while zeitgeist-defining labels like Ostgut Ton, Music Man and 50Weapons have been putting out his always-on-point productions.

Many friends of "Echtzeit" appreciated his "cl versions 1 - 4" of the sixth
melted recordings release, so some of them did their own interpretations of
one of the themes. These 10 tracks come on two releases: already released

with an endless light sound together with clear and straight drums. Madera's
redub I is deep and dub techno with a little kind of funk. "meridian six", an

Third in this league is RJ who comes wheeling round the corner with a 100-bpm disco track.
The slickly fielded vocals casually sprinkled with a German accent of 'Fresh Blaize' make Daft Punk look like a support band.
