Emotional Rescue is delighted to offer this compilation of music from Elaine Kibaro and her particular coalesce of chanson, folk, balearic and touch of disco, all encased in her strong French and North African roots.

The music included here, released between 1979 to 1989, is an expression of her development, of music changes matching growth in life, conveyed through her emotions in song. Opening with the spoken word Introduction from her debut album, "Mirrors" and the folk rock of melodies of Le Reveil from the 1981 follow up, Au Soleil, her early works are characterised by band, orchestra and choirs complimenting her voice as one.

This is further heard on the mystical Sorciere, psyche percussion of Secret, the marching Le Guerrier and the inclusion her first "hit" with Aurore, appearing her in all it's extended, off-kilter guitar meets organ form.

Exploring sensitivity and desires the compilation matches these earlier folk and world inspired songs with her move towards electronic production that accompanied a return some 4 years later, adding balearic and even pop dance found on 1985's Le Long De Fleuve Amour and the following 1989 opus, in Kiroel.

L'Amour Pour Bouclier and Ne Doute Pas lift her music higher towards lovers' heights, with word, melody, and rhythm giving the desire to dance and be free, while her continuing exploration of chanson and spoken word takes on new meanings via the new wave meets estoric Douleur, while the emotionally charged soundscape of Kiroel brings balance.

Inspired by the purity of song, Kibaro's music's has a timeless essence to behold, a voice and words found through life experience - beauty, discovery, nature and dreams.

Originally released in 2014, Matt Berry's 'Music For
Insomniacs' was an exploration into Matt's love of
the classic electronic experimentation of the
1970s, typified by the recordings of both Jean
Michel Jarre and Mike Oldfield.
With the original vinyl issue being limited to 500
units and never being repressed, Acid Jazz Records
are making a special blue vinyl reissue available.
On release, 'Music For Insomniacs' was critically
acclaimed, receiving four star reviews in Mojo, The
Times and The Sunday Times and the following
acclamations from the NME - 'much too good to
fall asleep to' and Shindig - 'quite brilliant'.
Intrigued by the work, Jean Michel Jarre asked
Matt to work with him on a track and also involved
Matt in his career retrospective podcast.

From rocking Bombay to swinging London: what a terrific trip!
In the 60s, young Indians and young Brits struck up an unlikely relationship that resulted in some truly amazing music.
For this generation, culture was currency. Hip young Indians rocked up in London. 'Beat' bands in Bombay belted out versions of the latest rock'n'roll hits. Indian musicians dreamt of making it big in the West, while British bands were eager to explore mystic, exotic India.
Despite their very different upbringings, they revelled in their opposing cultures. Slip Disc is the sound of this cross-continental youth revolution and a long-distance love affair.

Arts & Crafts will release the 6th studio album from Said The Whale's. The JUNO-winning trio of Tyler Bancroft (vocals/guitar), Ben Worcester (vocals/guitar) and Jaycelyn Brown (keyboards) specialize in the rich harmonies of California pop, crunchy guitars rooted in the lineage of Pacific Northwest indie rock, and naturalistic lyrics inspired by the water and mountains of their hometown of Vancouver. The album is titled 'Cascadia', a bioregion of western North America that runs along the Cascade mountain range. Meant to mimic the look of a tourism website, the landing page features a number of fan activations such as a 1-800 information line, an ambassador program, a streaming activation highlighting the music of the region, and much more.

He was at the height of his cult star fame in the mid 1980s when he made these recordings. It is some of his best most honest work oddly neglected for some time but delivered here for enthusiasts and neophites alike.

'Hive Mind Records present a 2LP compilation of songs by Moulay Ahmed El Hassani, a master of modern Moroccan music, who updates traditional folk forms with drum machines, autotune and incredible psychedelic guitar.

Moulay Ahmed El Hassani is practically unknown outside of his home country of Morocco where he's released over 50 albums on cassette and CD over the past 30 years, however Hive Mind Records seek to remedy that situation with the release of this compilation featuring songs originally released on Ahmed's own label, Sawt el Hassani, between 2006 and 2014.

Ahmed writes his own songs, plays all instruments himself, records and self produces at his home studio in Beni Mellal. His unique sound takes influence from a variety of Moroccan folk forms, particularly the Izlan and Ahidous styles of the Amazigh people of the mid-Atlas region. Ahmed has blended these styles with the rai and chaabi that were popular across the country through his youth. The resulting sound is like a twenty-first century folk music for a people caught somewhere between a vision of their own idealised pastoral past and a turbo charged, technologically driven urban future. Ahmed has embraced new musical technologies and his songs are made up of complex, polyrhythmic drum machine patterns, subtle loops, washes of new age synth, heavily autotuned male and female duet vocals, and his signature psychedelic microtonal guitar playing. His songs are sometimes gentle and melancholic, and sometimes more upbeat, but always deeply lyrical and melodic, and all feature lyrics in Amazigh and Arabic that deal with social issues and universal themes of love and loss.

There's really very little that can be said in a press release to can prepare you for the sound of Moulay Ahmed ElHassani's music, other than that you're unlikely to have heard anything quite like it before.'

Like his double bass, Henri Texier is a pillar, a landmark in jazz and music in
general. After an early career at the end of the 1960s, along with American
bebop giants such as Bud Powell, Donald Byrd, Dexter Gordon and Kenny Clarke,
Henri Texier stands out for his originality at the forefront of world music
well before the term.
The proof is in his first two recordings made on the label 'JMS' - Amir (1975)
and Varech (1977) reissued here to satisfy requests coming from the four the
likes of Bonobo, Chinese Man, Be Svendsen and many others.
Amir, Le Piroguier, Les "là-bas", l'Elephant, Quand le Blues s'en ira and many
more of his songs are considered today to be true classics.

The Legendary 1963 Piedmont sides of Mississippi John Hurt, his first since his influential 1928 recordings for the Okeh label. "Folk Songs And Blues" was recorded immediately after Hurt's "rediscovery" on March 24, 26, 29 and April 2, 1963 and released later that year. This album features many of his best known songs including "Candy Man Blues", "Salty Dog", "Spike Driver Blues", "Louis Collins", "Spanish Fandango" and "Avalon Blues." Mississippi John accompanies his gentle, mellow singing with acoustic guitar and, on one tune, harmonica.

Green Seagull's Christmas single feels like a journey - a journey back in time, to the late 1960s, and a journey to the inner depths of your mind, as it brings you in a dreamy state, where illusion and reality form a completely new experience. The single, that as all Snowflakes singles comes on snow white vinyl, is as much inspired by winter as by Christmas. Green Seagull's original, 'First Snow Of Winter' is a baroque pop song about that element of winter that directly brings a feeling of comfort and joy, a feeling of Christmas, in your heart: snow. The lyrics take you on another journey, a journey from the early beginnings of winter to the last snow, when spring is announcing itself and the first flowers start popping up. For the B-side, the band recorded a song that is already part of their live set for some time: an uptempo organ-drenched psychedelic version of the Christmas traditional 'God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen'.

Green Seagull, part of London's burgeoning neo-psych scene, started in 2016, when Paul Nelson (New Electric Ride) and Paul Milne (Hidden Masters, Magnetic Mind), who both share a love for late-60s baroque psychedelia and 12-string jangling guitars, started to write songs together. Soon joined by Sarah Gonputh on keyboards and Elian Dalmasso on drums, the four started rehearsing, taking their name from a mis-heard Rolling Stones lyric. After recording a 4-track demo, the band signed a deal with Mega Dodo Records, and after two well-received singles for the label, Green Seagull released their debut album 'Scarlet Fever' earlier this year. The band is currently working on their second album.

Recorded on the hottest day of an extremely hot London Summer, Oh! Gunquit deliver two Christmas party anthems on this 45, blending surf guitars, rumble drums and a wailing sax with lyrics about, well, what else than partying at Christmas - a bottle of wine, some good music and nice company is enough to get 'High On Xmas'. On the flipside, the fivesome breathe new life into The Sonics' garage rock classic 'Don't Believe In Christmas' - out goes the organ, in come guitar, sax and trumpet, with singer Tina's cool vocals finishing it off. The single is part of the Snowflakes Christmas Singles Club, edition 2018, and comes on snow white vinyl.

Oh! Gunquit came together when vocalist/trumpetist Tina and guitarist/vocalist Simon became neighbours and frequented the same sweaty cellar dance nights around town. The two formed the band with the idea to create a vibrant blend of new-wave vicious psych-surf, garage-punk, exotica & rock 'n roll. The unusual name of the band was inspired by Maine harbour town Ogunquit (which means 'beautiful place by the sea' in the indigenous Abenaki language), known for its late 19th Century artists colony, and by the idea of all guns quitting. Based in London, Oh! Gunquit, known for their high energy and spectacular live shows, is as cosmopolitan as their city is, with members from Italy, USA, Colombia, Spain and the UK.

British folk singer Rachael Dadd takes the holly and ivy as the central theme of her Christmas single, released as part of the Snowflakes Christmas Singles Club, and pressed on snow white vinyl. In pre-Christian times, the holly and the ivy were symbols of the male and female sex. When christianity arrived, the holly and ivy were given new meaning, the holly symbolizing Jesus and the ivy Mary. The holly and ivy, that keep their colours in the winter, became a Christmas decoration, and are the reason why green and red are seen as the colours of Christmas. Rachael covers the 19th Century English carol 'The Holly And The Ivy' on the B-side of her single and uses that carol as an inspiration for her original on the A-side, the poetic 'Spark Illuminate'. With just her beautiful voice and a prepared piano (a piano that has its sounds altered by placing objects on or between the strings), Rachael creates an atmopshere of stillness and intimacy, to warm your heart during those cold days of Christmas.

Rachael Dadd is a contemporary folk singer and multi-instrumentalist based in Bristol, England and on the Japanese island of Mukaishima. She is married to Japanese experimental musician ICHI, with whom she also regularly performs, live and on record. Rachael debuted in 2004 with the album 'Summer/Autumn Recordings'. The album was followed by a string of releases on labels like Broken Sound, Talitres, and Japanese labels Angel's Egg and Sweetdreams Press. Songwriter and multi-instrumentalist / producer Scott Hirsch has recorded a follow up to his critically acclaimed 2016 record, Blue Rider Songs. On Lost Time Behind The Moon, Hirsch chronicles confronting ghosts of the past, acknowledging that darkness rides alongside the light, and avoiding the pitfalls of regret. The record was recorded and produced by Hirsch with the help of Mike Coykendall (M Ward), and features musical guests William Tyler, Mikael Jorgensen (Wilco), Orpheo McCord (Edward Sharpe), Jimmy Calire (America) and Jesse Siebenberg (Lukas Nelson, Supertramp). Scott Hirsch's name is one you'll find lurking in the liner notes of many admired recordings from the late 1990s to the present. As a founding member of Hiss Golden Messenger, he was integral to the band's first five records, lending his sonic imprint on their productions, as well as shaping the sound of the live outfit, having toured heavily through the formative years of the band. Much of this work is reflected on the forthcoming Merge Records box set entitled Devotion: Songs About Rivers And Spirits And Children. Along the way he produced and played on records by Kim Krans' Family Band, as well as recording a Grammy-nominated record by the legendary folksinger Alice Gerrard. Having stepped off the demanding tour schedule of Hiss in 2016, new pathways opened up for Hirsch to fully engage in the craft of songwriting. But even among the willing, singing-out proved difficult, considering the group routinely avoided eye contact, rarely spoke above a whisper, and were unaccustomed to dancing.
Produced by Grammy-winner Ian Brennan (Tinariwen, Zomba Prison Project, Ramblin' Jack Elliott), the Tanzania Albinism Collective actively pushes the boundaries of what is considered Eastern African and 'world music,' while continuing to attract greater awareness and confront the dangers that the collective face daily due to prejudice and persecution at home.

Wolves In The Throne Room will be releasing the sorrowful and grand self-titled debut album by Cascadian funeral doom band Vouna through their own Artemisia Records. All music on Vouna was composed and all instruments performed by front-person and fellow native to the Pacific Northwest Yianna Bekris, previously of Vradiazei, Eigenlicht, and Sadhaka. This debut evokes the devastating and beautiful journey of becoming the last person on Earth. Razor sharp tremolo picked guitars cut through the heart like a knife. Mournfully sung vocals and cinematic melodies are combined with crushing doom drumming, while layers of primitive '90s digital synths conjure a lush and rugged soundscape. The music is inspired and influenced by Finnish funeral doom, Eastern European black metal, and Greek folk music, a must-hear for fans of My Dying Bride, Skepticism, Shape Of Despair, and similar acts.

Bill Callahan, fka Smog, is simultaneously a staple of strange American country, lo-fi, folk and independent music. His lyricism comes across as challenging and deeply autobiographical, equal parts "poetry leaning on true-to-life darkness" and "three chords and the truth."
So, it is fitting that Callahan's live set would command the same sense of friendliness-with-difficulty that the recorded songs do. With brief, candid, and charming interludes between older and newer material, an outsider can hear that this performance was obviously a full-bodied (and multi-era) engagement, no space left for distraction.
The full album is an experience; make it one you look after.
