Wrong is Quentin Dupieux's new movie, the director most known under his musical alias, Mr Oizo. During summer 2011, while he was wrapping the movie, he started as usual to compose its score. He then had the idea to fulfill it with four hands, with David Sztanke aka Tahiti Boy, a French eclectic pop artist recently met on Twitter. Indeed, Mr Oizo, in a typical extravagant generous gesture, offered through the social network three mythic beat machines, including a TR-808 for which Tahiti Boy (among others) showed great interest. Tahiti Boy seemed to be the most suitable to use it with relevance, and the two artists became friends on this occasion. Mr Oizo then had the idea to entrust Tahiti with the completion of Wrong's score. Settled in Quentin's parisian apartment turned into a studio, David resumed the few compositions already directed by Quentin, and finished and completed them with others (on which he sometimes used the famous TR-808).Supervised by Dupieux, who approved or disapproved the proposition in a clear-cut manner, the work progressed fast and fluently.Then, by the end of the year, the two artists reunited to adapt and shape the compositions in an album format, that you now have in your hands.After 'Steak' and 'Rubber", this is the third score from a Quentin Dupieux movie to be released on Ed Banger, and we found the particular atmosphere the first one already had ; in the same time modernist, iconoclast and crossed by winks to the big tradition of Original Soundtracks made in France in the 60s and 70s. Once is a 2006 Irish musical film written and directed by John Carney, former bassist for Irish band The Frames. Set in Dublin, this naturalistic drama stars musicians Glen Hansard (singer of, again, popular rock band The Frames) and Markéta Irglová as struggling musicians during an eventful week as they write, rehearse and record songs that reveal their unique love story. Collaborators prior to making the film, Hansard and Irglová composed and performed all of the original songs in the movie.

Hansard and Irglová's song "Falling Slowly" received a 2008 Academy Award for Best Original Song and the soundtrack as a whole also received a Grammy nomination. Steven Spielberg was quoted as saying 'A little movie called Once gave me enough inspiration to last the rest of the year'. When informed of Spielberg's comments, director John Carney told Sky News: 'In the end of the day, he's just a guy with a beard.'

‘Funny Cow’ charts the rise to stardom of a female comedienne through the 1970’s and 1980’s. It is set against the backdrop of
working men’s clubs and the stand-up comedy circuit of the North of England and stars Maxine Peake.

The soundtrack to Stanley Kubrick’s FULL METAL JACKET is an even split of memorable needle drops from artists such as The Dixie Cups, Nancy Sinatra, and The Trashmen, and an intense, moody score by Abigail Mead (actually Kubrick’s daughter Vivian under her preferred composer credit). Mead’s work delivers huge, haunting swathes of metallic drones and atmosphere, giving way to punishing rhythmic drums that sound like explosions, helicopters, and warfare. It’s a remarkable piece of music that sounds years ahead of its time.

Adam Gibbons, the artist & producer behind Lack of Afro and The Damn Straights, is set to release The Last Bastion OST, a cinematic, funk & soul soundtrack to a film that has yet, and may never, be made. Encompassing lush string and horn arrangements, the project will be released in three parts, with the full soundtrack coming out on limited edition, red vinyl this summer. Having originally got into music with the idea of scoring for films, The Last Bastion sees Adam fulfilling something of a long-held ambition.

"Long before all the Lack of Afro stuff took over, being a film composer was all I wanted to do. All my heroes were composers - guys like John Barry, John Williams & Thomas Newman and more recently David Holmes, Daniel Pemberton and Ludwig Goransson. Director Adam Wingard (THE GUEST, YOU’RE NEXT, DEATH NOTE) went further: He ventured into a deep hypnotic state to get answers and afterward created the inventive and aptly titled PAST LIFE REGRESSION. He uses an innovative electronic blend of cinematic and ambient that he brought to work like his BLAIR WITCH score. Still, this time the deeply personal nature of the project adds a new layer of transcendence. You feel like he’s scoring your own past life regression journey.

It opens with “The Beach,” a sun-drenched splash of beautiful dissonance, pairing digitally scrambled electronics and soothing but portentous tides. Once you enter the door over a sea of drone, you make your way through a rich and melodic tapestry of nuanced synth-scapes. The occasional burst of propulsive rhythms maintains momentum through each successive concentric circle of discovery. By the time you hit the ominous meditations of “The Ladder Down,” the Vangelis vibes of “Deeper Recall,” and the resolute closer “Relive,” you’ve witnessed your unfamiliar but eerily recognizable lives pass you by. Deluxe Edition Of Soundtrack To Sophia Coppola's Debut Feature Film

Released in 2000, The Virgin Suicides was director Sofia Coppola's first feature film, Kirsten Dunst's first major screen role, and Air's first foray into film scoring. The Versailles duo Jean-Benoît Dunckel and Nicolas Godin started to record the score by watching VHS tapes of the film during the autumn of 1998. Eerie, synthetic and tempestuous, The Virgin Suicides soundtrack's first single Playground Love' is the only vocal track, featuring vocals from Gordon Tracks (an alias of Thomas Mars, the lead singer for the band Phoenix). The Virgin Suicides soon became a cult soundtrack and one of the most celebrated albums in the electronic performers' fascinating discography. The score went on to be nominated for Best Soundtrack at the 2001 BRIT awards.

Akira Ifukube Returns! It's 1996 AD and Toho decide to freeze their Godzilla franchise, so what better way to go out with than a nuclear meltdown, which happens in GODZILLA VS. DESTOROYAH. Directed by Takao Okawara, the epic kaiju flick has Godzilla deadlier than ever before, with the absorption of uranium sending the temperature of his nuclear reactor heart soaring, which will ignite Earth's atmosphere and kill everybody when it explodes. Oh, and there's also another kaiju on the loose, the prehistoric mutation Destoroyah. It never rains but it pours!

Returning to score GODZILLA VS. DESTOROYAH was Akira Ifukube, the man who created the Big G's sound in 1954. Fittingly, for his final film, he got to lay Godzilla to rest once again, but first brought back several of his older pieces for the mayhem, including the original Godzilla theme, with another repurposed for the amazing new Super-X3. Destoroyah also receives a terrifying theme with powerful brass, but even his strength isn't enough for Godzilla's awesome force. But with that comes the death of the Big G, and Ifukube composes a beautiful requiem for his final scene. The king is dead. Long live the king! (Charlie Brigden)

TOHO, the creators of GODZILLA, unleash SPACE AMOEBA aka Gezora-Ganime-Kameba: Kessen! Nankai No Daikaijû! A space probe is lost while on its way to the planet Jupiter but returns to Earth after being overtaken by a deadly and dastardly single-celled organism.

The organism then mutates into giant kaiju that mimic a cuttlefish, a stone crab, and a matamata turtle, and uses these destructive forms in their plan to take over the planet. The only thing that stands between humanity and the insidious invertebrates is a group of photographers doing recon for a tourism company!

Directing, of course, is the legendary Ishirō Honda (MOTHRA, RODAN) alongside producer Tomoyuki Tanaka, with the dreamy Akira Kubo (DESTROY ALL MONSTERS) as photographer Kudo. As with GODZILLA, Honda recruited the great Akira Ifukube to compose the thrilling score, and Ifukube brought his trademark innovation and dramatic grandeur.

The title theme is beautifully distinctive, mixing thick brass and low piano to match the destruction of the kaiju with higher horns and trumpet, providing a lighter contrast. Ifukube scores action and horror with his iconic lumbering colours but provides suspense with piano and otherworldly strings, with a unique slithering theme for the evil amoeba. The Big G is back, but has Godzilla bitten off more than it can chew? 1992's GODZILLA VS MOTHRA is a triple threat treasure, with Godzilla battling the legendary Mothra and its dark doppelganger Battra, unleashed by a meteorite and is intent on destroying Mothra and, subsequently, the world. Throw in a rogue archaeologist, his ex-wife, and a multinational company exploiting the minute Mothra Cosmos twins, and you have a thrilling kaiju adventure with a stunning score by the original Godzilla composer, the brilliant Akira Ifukube. GODZILLA VS MOTHRA is undoubtedly one of Ifukube's most outstanding scores, bringing together the traditional booming brass and bass that accompanies Godzilla and Battra with a more ethereal sensibility for Mothra and her mission to save the Earth. Godzilla's theme is stomping in the foreground, and Battra gets similar material with a gigantic doom-laden motif for his destructive power. But the "Sacred Springs" theme for Mothra is a match for any of them, with Ifukube using it in minor and major modes, with a gorgeous rendition with a female chorus at the climax of the score, illustrating once again that when it comes to the music of Godzilla, Akira Ifukube is the master.

Japan faces its ultimate doom as Godzilla's deadliest foe is back in Godzilla vs King Ghidorah. Visitors from the 23rd Century arrive with grave news; Godzilla will destroy Japan in the future. Time travelling back to when Godzilla was born, they prevent the birth, but something goes wrong, as when they come back to the present day, the monstrous three-headed King Ghidorah is on the rampage instead. A secret conspiracy is soon unmasked, and only one outcome will save the country: Godzilla must return! Godzilla vs King Ghidorah saw the return of legendary composer Akira Ifukube to the series, his first since 1975's Terror of Mechagodzilla. He showed no sign of slowing down, providing a thrilling and muscular score dominated by the presence of the two headliners. Godzilla's theme and fanfare are presented beautifully by Ifukube, along with the terrifying material for Ghidorah. The composer also wonderfully integrates earlier music from Rodin and King King Vs Godzilla that - alongwith his terrific new music - results in a musical monster throw-down for the ages. No one knew Godzilla better than Akira Ifukube, and Godzilla vs King Ghidorah proves it.

"Cyberpunk: Edgerunners" ist die Hit-Netflix-Anime-Serie basierend auf dem Videospiel "Cyberpunk 2077". Enjoy The Ride Records in conjunction with Warner Records proudly presents Music From The Motion Picture Beowulf. Composed and Conducted by Alan Silvestri, Beowulf is available on vinyl for the first time. Beowulf features score tracks as well as songs performed by Robin Wright (The Princess Bride, Forrest Gump, House of Cards) and Idina Menzel (Rent, Wicked, Frozen). Directed by Robert Zemeckis and written by Neil Gaiman and Roger Avary (based on the Old English epic poem), the 2007 CGI fantasy action film features an all-star cast, with a powerful musical accompaniment.

Between the 60s and 80s, Albert Verrecchia played a major role in Italian pop music and on the European disco and Afro-cosmic scene, both under his own name and under the monikers Albert Weyman and Albert Prince. He was the keyboardist of legendary Italian-French r'n'b band I Pyranas, served as a session Hammondist for singer and TV star Raffaella Carrà, and produced the disco trio Belle Epoque as well as the debut album of singer-songwriter Alan Sorrenti. Among his many incarnations, in the early and mid-70s he also composed a few soundtracks for Italian genre cinema, including for movies such as the poliziottesco Roma drogata, la polizia non può intervenire (Hallucinating Trip, 1975, Lucio Marcaccini) and the erotic drama Tecnica di un amore (1972, Brunello Rondi).

The score he wrote in 1975 for Il tempo degli assassini (Season of Assassins, a film about a gang of criminal youths who terrorize the city of Rome in the already violent 70s) is certainly his most accomplished work in the genre. Conceived for a small ensemble, it was written almost entirely on the spot in the recording studio. Verrecchia himself played the Moog, and his dynamic and percussive approach to the instrument resulted in a style midway between funk and proto-disco. A modern rhythmic style - or Ritmico Moderno, which is the title chosen by CAM for the LP containing the soundtrack and released two years later as part of a promotional library music series only distributed to film professionals and radio and TV programmers (CML series, cat. no. 131). One is led to wonder whether it was thanks to that LP that, in 1977, three pieces from the soundtrack found their way into another film about youth gangs, the Spanish Perros callejeros (Street Warriors), written and directed by Jose Antonio de la Loma. On a side but important note, there's the added bonus of popular 70s and 80s entertainer Sammy Barbot singing on Gang Leader alongside female vocal group Baba Yaga. What a pity that Verrecchia's career as a film composer ended here!
