The latest ravishing score by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis is for director David Olehoffen's Loin Des Hommes (Far From Men). Loin Des Hommes was a triple prizewinner at the Venice film festival (2014) and stars Viggo Mortensen and Reda Kateb.

Adapted from a short story by Albert Camus, it is a powerful tale of divided loyalties and colonialist violence during Algeria's war of independence. With its mesmeric drones, pointillist piano jabs, weeping strings and nerve-jangling electronics, this is one of the duo's most emotive and experimental soundtracks to date, sounding both achingly intimate and cosmically vast.

Nick Cave and Warren Ellis create film and theatre scores that are elegantly minimal, hauntingly beautiful and instantly recognizable as theirs alone. Full of light and shade, creeping dread and inconsolable yearning, these heavily instrumental sound paintings inject aching humanity into ghostly frontier towns, parched desert vistas and post-apocalyptic war zones. Most are built around the duos intertwined piano and violin melodies, with sporadic use of guitar, flute, mandolin, celeste, percussion and other elements.

Vocals are rare and sparing. But even without lyrics, they are always lyrical.

'Colpo Rovente' is one of the rarest soundtrack albums in the Italian film music history.

Released in 1973 and 1974 respectively, BLOOD FOR DRACULA and FLESH FOR FRANKENSTEIN (RED212) were interesting if not a little off-beat horror movies both of which were filmed in Italy. The legendary Paul Morrisey directed with the assistance in more ways than one of Italian film maker Antonio Margheriti, with the productions being overseen by Andy Warhol. The italian composer CLAUDIO GIZZI, with his romantic and harmonious themes, has created a dark and romantically laced score that worked very well within the context of the movie, the well know gothic tale of Dracula here directed in a not so conventional way by the genius of Morrisey and Warhol. A powerful and subtle sound that supports and embellishes these stories with a very modern touch without being intrusive or overbearing like in many horror movies of the era. A lost collection of home studio tape manipulations and VCS3 synthesizer experiments from the unsung Australian composer Val Stephen. A practising medical anaesthetist turned electronic music innovator, Stephen's study of tape music originates back as early as the 1950s.

Throughout the following decades he created a remarkable personal archive of uncharted electronic compositions and experimental music sketches using a range of resourceful tools and pioneering techniques.

With only two of his compositions ever published (Folkways - Electronic Music. 1967) ABSTRACTUM is an amazing look into the previously undocumented world of this silent innovator. A hallucinogenic hybrid of sedated synthesis & primordial Musique Concrete that will appeal to those interested in experimental music such as Basil Kirchin's Worlds Within Worlds and Pierre Henry's Le Voyage.

"You Can't Fight It" was written for John Carpenter's seminal "Assault On Precinct 13", but only made it onto the Italian release of the film, "Distretto 13", and was previously available only as a very limited 7" promo!

Trinidadian Jimmy Chambers rose to fame in the early 90s in Londonbeat, achieving number 1 success in the U.S. Billboard 100 and Hot Dance Club back in 1991 with "I've Thinking About You". 15 years prior however he was commissioned to perform "You Can't Fight It", masterminded by British 60's legend Kenny Lynch.

FBNM favourite Riccio has also provided us with a superbly authentic re-edit, only adding a little quantisation, fattening, stretch and sparkle to accompany the original faithfully and help translate this lost gem onto today's dance floors!

Crazy RARE in demand soundtrack LP originally released on the highly sought-after promotional label "PEGASO" Edizioni Musicali, 1972. Music by Maestro Carlo Pes here, the "C" guitarist from the infamous quartet I MARC 4 who also probably plays on this session. The amazing Jazz-Funk track "Tough Guy" is the main theme of the record and it's delivered in 3 different versions. Crazy tunes like the tensed dramatic "Morte di un Hippie", the great Lounge track "Relaxing in New Mexico" with nice Hammond improvisations, guitar and flute, and "Murder On The Set", fantastic cinematic Score; Bossa-Jazz on "Joinin' the Swimming Pool" with some nice piano among the others. Top record, not to be missed!

Originally released on 'cult' Pegaso promotional label, "THE MAN WITH ICY EYES" soundtrack was pressed on very few copies like all Pegaso editions 'out of commerce', becoming a truly sought-after gem among Record Collectors of the genre. Trombonist and arranger Giuseppe De Luca, who died shortly after, wrote this magnificent score in 1971, ripping off the main theme from "Lady In Cement" by Hugo Montenegro from the same year. The high music in here is played by the MARC 4 (Maurizio Majorana on bass, Carlo Pes on guitar, Antonello Vannucchi organ) feat. Giuseppe De Luca at trumpet and Vincenzo Restuccia at drums. Magnificent vocals by the best scatting queen Edda Dell'Orso and chorus by I Cantori Moderni Di Alessandroni. KILLER!

Death Waltz Recording Company and One Way Static Records have joined forces and are overjoyed to be able to bring you the score to a truly iconic - or notorious - classic of the horror genre: Riz Ortolani's music to the one and only CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST, directed by Ruggero Deodato.

One of the early found footage' films, this 1980 picture takes you into the heart of the Amazon rainforest as we see the lengths a film crew will go to get their footage, and the inevitable revenge by the jungle tribesman who thrive on eating human flesh. What follows is some of the most shocking material in a legitimate film, including some distasteful real animal killings Deodato has since apologized for.

Due to the film's heavy graphical on-screen violence it received heavy banning (in over 50 countries), censorship, heavy cuts, 'Video Nasty' classification and even confiscation by courts (resulting in a trial where Deodato was facing jail time) all over the world. This resulted in a controversy that still goes on this present day.

Ortolani's main theme is gorgeously dreamy, deceptively so. It's a remarkable truth amongst horror soundtracks that some of the most effective music of the genre is aesthetically beautiful, and Ortolani's theme certainly qualifies. But in being so pleasant, it does give off a false sense of security, certainly for the film. Some of Ortolani's music is more overtly creepy, with more electronic elements blending with the orchestra to provide a harsher backdrop. But then that beauty is there again, juxtaposed alongside horrific elements to ask ourselves about whether beauty needs a context. CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST stays with you - it's notorious for a reason, and the soundtrack is no different.

The Wrong Man was a unique project for the legendary Alfred Hitchcock. undertaken as a flamboyant experiment with neorealism, it differs significantly from his most famous films in both style and substance. Similarly, Bernard Herrmann's minimalist score took simple device already in evidence in his previous film work to an unprecedented extreme. While Hitchcock never again attempted such an austere and moody work, the brooding score laid the groundwork for much of the rest of Herrmann's career.

Despite a long series of reissues and rediscoveries that are throwing the ultimate light on one of the most fascinating and enigmatic periods of Italian music history - that of sonifications - the project that goes by the name Braen's Machine continues to evade categorization, and positive information. If you are among the many who got their hands on the beautiful "Underground", republished by Schema a few months ago, you will already know of the involvement of, among others, Piero Umiliani, Alessandro Alessandroni - the

name Braen seems to be his alias - and Oronzo (Rino) De Filippi, real name of the other credited author, the mysterious Gisleri. For this new chapter from Braen's Machine, the beautiful and hard to come by "Quarta Pagina (Poliziesco)", published apparently in 300 copies, there are few available pieces of information, pointing to an involvement of Giuliano Sorgini, hidden under the name of Raskovich, and author of five out of the eleven tracks on the release.

The lack of reliable information and the enigmatic flavor surrounding the project Braen's Machine, as opposed to the ease with which the music allows us instant identification, are among the secrets that make their records unique.

Unlike "Underground", "Quarta pagina" portrays with great skill some possible - who knows if they ever have been realized - crime scenes, with hard-boiled and dark atmospheres, alternating with the psych funk rides that have always characterized many of the projects related to the Italian cinematic genre. All this without excluding, however, avant-garde attitudes and atonal passages that makes "Quarta pagina (Poliziesco)" comparable to the best pages of the Gruppo d'¼Improvvisazione Nuova Consonanza.

The track titles, fascinating as usual, tell of "Fraud", "Shadowing", "Remorse", "Soliciting", and emphasize decisive moments as in the case of "The Victim", "On the Run" or "In Prison", while the indications that accompany the pieces will be a treat for fanatical collectors of sonifications. It's not that hard to imagine situations of "exotic full moon, preparation for a violent action, spiritualism,

facing fear, sexual freedom, preparation for a revolt" while listening to these precious eleven tracks, which alternate between "slow and animated". And, believe it, you don'¼t even need a dose of LSD (as per the advice of "The Den") in order to travel back to 1971, the year of the album'¼s first release. A page 4 ("Quarta pagina") crime story perhaps, but a legacy of sound that largely deserves a nine-column headline on the front page...;

There's always been a hugely cinematic tone to Dark Dark Dark's music, be it through the immersive sense of atmosphere much of the instrumentation and vocals instill, or the image-strewn lyrics and sense of place that can transport the listener to another world. So it makes perfect sense that they would end up in the world of cinema. However, this is not simply a film score commission. Here the group's involvement with Flood Tide runs much, much deeper. Flood Tide is written and directed by former band member Todd Chandler, and features the band both as characters and performers.
Set within artist Swoon's floating junk sculptures project, 'Swimming Cities of Switchback Sea', Flood Tide both documents and reimagines the real-life journey of Swoon and her collaborators as they build boats out of junk and set out on the open water of the Hudson River. All of this is accompanied by an original, nineteen song soundtrack by Dark Dark Dark.

The film and soundtrack release comes after a fruitful and productive few years for the group. After releasing the much praised debut album on melodic 'Wild Go' in 2011, the band followed up with full-length 'Who Needs Who' in 2012, and then the 'What I Needed' EP in 2013, a year that saw them tour the world, play two ATP's within 6 months (curated by The National and TV On The Radio), as well as create a score to Jerome Hill's La Cartomancienne. Flood Tide also premiered in 2013 at the Torino Film Festival, exposing the world to the group's rich and evocative soundtrack for the very first time.

With much of Dark Dark Dark's previous material being glued together by the distinctive vocals of Nona Marie Invie, this soundtrack is unique in that it is primarily instrumental, an approach that motivated the group immensely. 'We were excited to have an opportunity to make an instrumental record because we've always been inspired by bands like Rachel's and Dirty Three, and soundtracks like those from the movies Waking Life and Dead Man,' say the band. Much like some of the influences and inspirations mentioned here, the soundtrack to Flood Tide succeeds as a stand-alone record, even when free from its contextual home of the film. 'This is a really unique record,' the group say of the project, 'it's much more textural and ambient than most Dark Dark Dark material.
The line-up featured on the soundtrack is one that never toured full time, and this record is a beautiful document of the chemistry and sensibilities of that variation of the band. The group have taken the material on the road, playing it in strange, distinctive places that are emblematic of the film's own unique journey. 'We've played this material in a hand-built drive-in movie theatre filled with junk cars, on rafts on the Hudson River, in the canals of Venice and in museums across the USA.'

The double gatefold vinyl release wraps up this project for the band perfectly, 'We're excited to have the recordings out in the world. It's a document of a special time in our lives. Releasing a small run of vinyl with a download of the film seems like the most beautiful and intimate way to share this project.'

He's principally known for his musical scoring of Japanese anime-television series, of which Lupin III and the feature film The Castle of Cagliostro are his most well-known works. Ohno is also well-known as a member of a jazz trio with bassist Miroslav Vitous and drummer Lenny White. This is the second LP in a five album series of Lupin The 3rd original soundtracks released between 1978 and 1981. Yuji Ohno plays here with his new group called You & The Explosion Band formed in particular for the soundscape of Lupin III. All tracks arranged, composed and produced by Yuji Ohno.

John Carpenter, the Legendary Director and Composer behind Halloween, Escape From New York, They Live, Assault on Precinct 13 and many more announces his debut solo album 'Lost Themes' out February 3rd on Sacred Bones Records. In anticipation of his debut release, Carpenter shares a new track 'Vortex,' a custom-designed video for 'Vortex' set to clips from different Carpenter films and the full album artwork and track list.

John Carpenter has been responsible for much of the horror genre's most striking soundtrack work in the fifteen movies he's both directed and scored. The themes that drive them can be stripped to a few coldly repeating notes, take on the electrifying thunder of a rock concert, or submerge themselves into exotic, unholy miasmas. It's work that instantly floods his fans' musical memory with imagery of a menacing shape stalking a babysitter, a relentless wall of ghost-filled fog, lightning-fisted kung fufighters, or a mirror holding the gateway to hell. Lost Themes asks Carpenter's acolytes to visualize their own nightmares.

'Lost Themes was all about having fun,' Carpenter says. 'It can be both great and bad to score over images, which is what I'm used to. Here there were no pressures. No actors asking me what they're supposed to do. No crew waiting. No cutting room to go to. No release pending. It's just fun. And I couldn't have a better set-up at my house, where I depended on (collaborators) Cody (Carpenter, of the band Ludrium) and Daniel (Davies, who scored I, Frankenstein) to bring me ideas as we began improvising. The plan was to make my music more complete and fuller, because we had unlimited tracks. I wasn't dealing with just analogue anymore. It's a brand new world. And there was nothing in any of our heads when we started other than to make it moody.'

As is Carpenter's style, repetition is the key to the thundering power of these tracks, their energy swirling with shredding chords, soaring organs, unnerving pianos and captivating percussion. Singularly titled to inspire dread with such names as 'Vortex,' 'Dominion,' 'Abyss,' and 'Purgatory,' but all linked into a unified whole, Lost Themes has a mesmerizing power. Horror fans will be reminded of Carpenter's past works, as well as ancestors like Mike Oldfeld's Tubular Bells and the raging guitars and chiming percussion of Goblin's Suspiria. ''Both classical music and rock and roll are part of my musical language, which is riff-driven,' Carpenter explains. 'So if you listen carefully, I'm sure you can hear some echoes from my past. But I'm sure that's true of any composer. You just bring your music along with you.'

This issue has been completely remastered/remixed from the original 1/4" & 1/2" eight track reels, retaining all the original elements but now with brand new additional production performed in 2014 by Quintessence. Three extra background music synthersizer sound effect tracks from the movie which were performed by Paul McCollough are also included, these tracks were not present on the 1982 Traq release.

This unedited collection of Alain Resnais soundtracks, for the first time ever on vinyl, explores the music in 60's movie production of the legendary French director and his relation with some of the greatest composers of the era: George Delerue (the Mozart of the Nouvelle Vague), Giovanni Fusco (know for his work with Michelangelo Antonioni), Francis Seyrig and the great Hans Werner Henze.

Brought together by their common love for soundtracks and Italian libraries of late sixties/early seventies, the four members of La Batteria are well-known musicians and veterans from the underground scene of the capital city, with quite different experiences ranging from progressive post-rock (Fonderia), indie-pop (Otto Ohm, Angela Baraldi), experimental jazz (I.H.C.), hip hop (La Comitiva, Colle Der Fomento) and world music (the famous Orchestra di Piazza Vittorio).

The band performs original compositions informed by the type of songwriting, very sought after in the heyday of the italian movie glamorama: Music for images in the years between 1968 and 1980, with the likes of experimental composers and masters at work Ennio Morricone, Stelvio Cipriani, Alessandro Alessandroni, Bruno Nicolai and bands such as Goblin and I Marc 4.

All the instruments recorded are exclusively vintage, though the first self titled album of La Batteria is not merely revival, but a welcomed result of a sound/style projected into now. So, in between the lines of their cinematic prog-funk you will detect traces of afro-beat, hip hop and kosmische music, all filtered through a typical italian feeling.

A record conceived in Roma, in the same area and environment where those soundtracks and libraries were made. The album was originally intended as a library for publisher Romano Di Bari and his own Flipper Music (house of cult labels such as Deneb and Octopus) and mastered in historical Telecinesound studio, property of Maurizio Majorana, bass player for influential band I Marc 4. A continuity not only with that sound-world, but with a whole movement that brought Italy to the attention of the main foreign media, thanks to a correct balance between art and craft. A great time for experimentation in the fields of music, theatre, cinema and visual arts, a whole cultural revolution now renewed.

Even on a graphic note La Batteria discovers the same elements of that magical short circuit between past and present, thanks to a very cinematic logo designed by Luca Barcellona (aka Lord Bean) and a cover artwork fully realized by Emiliano Cataldo (aka Stand) inspired by some of the most cultish italian libraries.

Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes is the eighth theatrical film in the Apes franchise, released in 2014. Directed by Matt Reeves and starring Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, Toby Kebbell, and Kodi Smit-McPhee, it's the sequel to the 2011 film Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes, which began 20th Century Fox's reboot of the original Planet Of The Apes series. Upon theatrical release, the film was immediately met with critical acclaim, with critics praising its visual effects, story, direction, acting, and emotional depth.

The latter is at least partly caused by the wonderful score by acclaimed soundtrack composer Michael Giacchino. He has composed scores for movies, television series and video games, some of his most notable works include the scores to television series such as Lost, games such as the Medal Of Honor and Call Of Duty series, and films such as Mission: Impossible III, The Incredibles, Star Trek, Star Trek Into Darkness, Cloverfield, Ratatouille, Up and many more. Giacchino has received numerous awards for his work, including an Emmy, multiple Grammys, a Golden Globe Award, and an Academy Award.

Yuji Ohno, is a Japanese jazz musician born in 1941. He's principally known for his musical scoring of Japanese anime-television series, of which Lupin III and the feature film The Castle of Cagliostro are his most well known works. Ohno is also well-known as a member of a jazz trio with bassist Miroslav Vitous and drummer Lenny White.

First LP from a series of five albums of Lupin The 3rd original soundtracks released between 1978 to 1981. Yuji Ohno plays with his new group called You & The Explosion Band formed in particular for the soundscape of Lupin III. The band is accompanied by a horn section featuring Takeru Muraoka, Jake H Conception and Shigeharu Mukai plus s string ensemble conducted by Minoru Suzuki (The Suzuki Group). Titles include opening & ending themes from the first season, I Miss You Babe, (Yes I Do) sung by Sandi A Hohn, and Lovin' You (Lucky) by Tom Snyder from GODIEGO. Most of the songs are introduced by some dialogue samples extracted from the episodes of Lupin III, starring the main characters.

Lavagnino's soundtrack to the great 1962 movie 'Kali-Yug La Dea Della Vendetta' (also known as Goddess Of Vengeance (1963, UK), Kali Yug: Die Göttin Der Rache (1964, Germany), Kali-Yug, Déesse De La Vengeance (1963, France), Vengeance Of Kali (1963, United States), directed by Mario Camerini and starring Senta Berger and Lex Barker, finally get a proper reissue since it's 1963 release on CAM Records.

Composed and directed by Lavagnino, 'Kali-Yug' is one of the best soundtracks ever written by the late Maestro.

Known for his beautiful orchestral themes, Lavagnino outdoes himself in Kali-Yug, with stunning exotic themes which makes this score a must have for serious soundtrack collectors.

The platform is extremely crowded, however, and she can't get to Mick, who is standing at the opposite end, so she shouts his name. Two other passengers relay the message to Mick that Sue wants to talk with him. "What does she want" Mick relays back. "Tell him that I'm not going to marry Richard," Sue shouts. "Why not" Mick asks. "Because I love you!" she relays. When the message finally gets to Mick, he tries to make his way through the crowd but he can't get to Sue, so he climbs on top of the crowd and walks over the people's shoulders to get to her. In the final scene, they embrace while the crowd cheers.

Along with this launch, Rockstar Games in collaboration with Mass Appeal (who brought you Run The Jewels), will be releasing a deluxe edition of the game's soundtrack on a 6 LP set on 12/9.
