Recently we've been thrilled to announce that Django Django will release their new album, Born Under Saturn, on May 4th 2015 via Because Music.

Django Django's debut album came out in January 2012 on Because Music and was lavished with praise. It was 'updated psychedelia that beguiles and delights' (The Guardian), 'consistently mind-melting and often brilliant' (Q), 'bursting with ideas' (Pitchfork) and 'gloriously, unpredictably new' (Mojo). By December it had been shortlisted for the Mercury Prize and named one of the albums of the year by Rolling Stone and NME. They became known from their electric live performances full of energy, and went on to play memorable shows at festivals across the globe including as Glastonbury and Fuji Rock.

Alessandroni. The concept itself is riveting enough: the guy who provided that infamous guitar riff for 'The Good, The Bad and The Ugly' providing utterly bent and synth-heavy recordings
previously unheard by the wider world - but the material and execution is just nothing short of a revelation, unlocking an uncannily prescient suite of rhythmik pieces that sound unlike much library music you will have heard from the era. 'Industrial' perfectly encapsulates the heightened state of creativity in the mid '70s surrounding Alessandroni and his close peers Giuliano Sorgini - together known as Braen Raskovich - and Ennio Morricone, for whom Alessandro also famously whistled the theme to 'A Fistful of Dollars'. Recorded at Piero Umiliani's Sound Workshop in Rome, and made with an arsenal of EMS Synthi VCS3 modular systems, tape loops and a treated Petrof
grand piano plus a bundle of string instruments, the 'Industrial' results (coincidentally issued the same year as Throbbing Gristle's debut album) present a pulsating take on this kind of music breaching tightly-coiled motorik systems and mood percolators with atonal strings and viral oscillations. Most importantly, the sense of minimalist efficiency and the clarity of the recordings
are shocking, pushing the envelope of electro-acoustic music and pre-empting the early notions of an entire genre movement

Off the map, H-Burns' fourth album, is an album labeled, engineered, mixed and mastered by Steve Albini. And it's pretty obvious: fourteen tight songs, full-on (faithful to the motto hammered by Albini: 'feature it, or fuck it"), carved in eight days, by five people (drums, guitars, keyboards, bass), without ever leaving the studio. After the critical success of 'We go way back' and the recent collaboration with Chris Bailey of the legendary Australian band The Saints (Album Bailey / Burns), H-Burns continues on Off The Map to move towards a sound which is less and less harsh, but instead wider and wider. H-Burns dropped the plaid shirts, now they truly have become a great classy rock band, a band that doesn't know any borders. Off the Map is a world-record where the concepts of maps and territories are the cement of the lyrics, in a total symbiosis with the sound: brass performed by the musicians from Wilco's latest albums, a drummer who hits a snare drum from the 1930's, keyboard parts played on vintage instruments that sound like they haven't been touched for years. This new album of H-burns is also the first album released by the label Vietnam, tailor-made by their friends at So Foot, the magazine that has once been described by Voxpop as ' a punk football magazine which talks about football because it's the rock'n'roll of the modern world '. Jason & Theodor are Berlin's Sonja Deffner and Dorothee Leesing. Their first LP is about making music anywhere and with anything: field recordings from Philadelphia public busses, songs crafted in Austrian cabins, recorded and carefully arranged in bedrooms and an abandoned East-Berlin broadcasting complex with electro-acoustic composer and producer Tadklimp of Morr Music's 'Fenster' fame. In a stunning simultaneity of complexity and repetition, all at once chillwave, post-punk's minimalism, Washington-style indie rock, 90s RnB and even IDM come to mind - Jason & Theodor's transgressive aesthetics rely neither on virtuosity nor on sonic brilliance, even though they could clearly claim both. Like the speakers of verlan, they have immersed themselves in the ephemeral grammar of a secret language that operates from within a hegemonic discourse and marks an attitude of subversion - which the gender political dimension implied in their name play also hints at.

Factory Benelux presents a special 30th anniversary edition of Here Comes Everybody, the highly-regarded second album by Scottish group The Wake, originally released by Factory Records in 1985.
A double vinyl edition of Here Comes Everybody with bonus singles will be available through American label Captured Tracks.
The Wake formed in Glasgow in 1981 after singer/guitarist Caesar left Altered Images. Joining Factory the following year, the group toured with New Order and released popular mini-album Harmony.
Trailed by sprightly single Talk About the Past in 1984, second album Here Comes Everybody was eventually recorded as a trio, combining dreampop melodies and wistful lyricism typified by standout track O Pamela (later interpreted by artful French new wave covers project Nouvelle Vague).

Sounds Of Now is a collection of electronic 'sound logos' and switched-on library cues used in production and broadcast in the 1960 & 70s. Included here are variants of the creepy manipulated synthesizer theme which accompanied the 1964 Screen Gems logo, which was subject to the 2010 documentary The S From Hell, exploring the psychological effects that this haunting piece of music had on a generation of TV watching children.

A lost collection of home studio tape manipulations and VCS3 synthesizer experiments from the unsung Australian composer Val Stephen. A practising medical anaesthetist turned electronic music innovator, Stephen's study of tape music originates back as early as the 1950s.

Throughout the following decades he created a remarkable personal archive of uncharted electronic compositions and experimental music sketches using a range of resourceful tools and pioneering techniques.

With only two of his compositions ever published (Folkways - Electronic Music. 1967) ABSTRACTUM is an amazing look into the previously undocumented world of this silent innovator. A hallucinogenic hybrid of sedated synthesis & primordial Musique Concrete that will appeal to those interested in experimental music such as Basil Kirchin's Worlds Within Worlds and Pierre Henry's Le Voyage.

Franco-Mexican artist, singer, instrumentalist and producer ANDREA BALENCY follows her breakthrough 2014 with a brand new EP entitled Volcano, demonstrating a growth in style, experience and quality beyond that which she has already earned.
Balency treats her new forays into sound and melody as research - that is, she experiments and builds a mesh of unfound soundscapes from scratch to achieve a rare sui generis. Each track on this new EP expresses a high resolution of sounds entwining as if it were easy, even on the at times seemingly sparse arrangements. With such a detailed level of consideration, in an avant-garde genre no less, her inherent talent is undeniable, and puts her in the same musical league as Cocteau Twins, Bjork and Jessy Lanza.
Take for example her unrecognizable cover of John Martyn's already inimitable 'Please Fall In Love With Me'. The extra sentiment Balency is able to pack into the classic is a true feat. Elsewhere, the progression from her debut EP is perhaps most obvious in her vocal work. Having stood out for, and built her persona in, the 'cutely-breathy-females scene' (The Guardian), Volcano demonstrates a much more rich, more mature, more strong, vocal ability.
This new EP marks not only a continuation of her achievements so far, but a build towards even more refined material. You can expect another single collaboration with Airhead in the summer; her debut album very soon after, and a more abundant and emphatic live presence than ever.

We are really proud to announce the reissue of one of the most important Dutch Wave bands THE ACTOR, with their seminal 1982 tape "EXPLODED VIEW".
"In the beginning of the eighties, a new phenomenon emerged: home taping. This way of recording resulted in a lot of noise. But that was less important then getting one's music out to the public. A well known label for cassette bands in those days was the dutch Trumpett Tapes. They were the first to publish the music of The Actor, who became their top selling cassette band in 1982 and 1983. The Actor's first release was Exploded View in 1982. The songs - sung both in English and German - often related to fashion, modernism, dancing and appearence. This made The Actor 'quite fashionable."

Mit Museum Of Love reiht das geschmackssichere Label DFA einen weiteren Release in den Reigen für 2014 ein. 1. Akt: Zurück aus dem Paradies
Schon auf ihrem letztjährigen Debütalbum Paradies Naivhaben Laing mit besonderem Vergnügen Feldforschungen am lebenden Objekt betrieben: Bisweilen unerhört entlarvende Stücke über Frau und Mann, Mann und Frau samt ihrer Marotten und all ihrer kleinen und großen Komödien und Tragödien. Mit ihrem zweiten Album Wechselt die Beleuchtung werfen Laing nun ein völlig neues Licht auf den emotionalen Makrokosmos und seine unterschiedlichen Protagonisten. 2. Akt: Muskeln und Schwächen
Nach ihrem spektakulär stilsicheren Erstling schlägt Frontfrau Nicola Rost mit ihrer Band nun das viel beschworene 'nächste Kapitel' auf. Von vorne. Wieder auf Anfang. Leeres Blatt Papier, leerer Bildschirm. Kein Ballast; mehr als genug Platz für tausend neue Ideen. Und die Gelegenheit, die Perspektive zu ändern. Geblieben ist diese ganz besonders heftige Detailverliebtheit, mit der Nicola Rost die Gefühlswelt um sich herum bis in die kleinste Doppelchromosomenfaser seziert, mit der deutschen Sprache und den Hormonen jongliert und am Ende doch irgendwie alles auf den gleichen Nenner bekommt: Dass sich das Leben liebend gern von seiner kompliziertesten Seite zeigt und Eins immer noch die einsamste Zahl bleibt. Laing leben vom Kontrast, dem Clash, den Ecken und Kanten; textlich wie auch musikalisch. Gebrochener Charme mit zackigem Beat und messerscharf geschliffenen Lyrics ohne Kindersicherung. Was sich auf Paradies Naiv oftmals silhouettenhaft und verschwommen präsentierte, das hat auf Wechselt die Beleuchtung konkrete Formen angenommen - Ich finde es spannend, die Betrachtungsweise zu ändern', so Nicola Rost über den Metapher schwangeren Albumtitel. 'Wenn man die Beleuchtung wechselt, erscheinen viele Dinge in einem anderen Licht. Man kann selbst negativen Gefühlen wie Kummer und Herzschmerz einen gewissen Reiz abgewinnen, während man Positives wie Freude oder Verliebtheit völlig überraschend in einer ungünstigen Farbe wahrnimmt. Dieses Wechselspiel aus Licht und Dunkel macht die ganze Sache doch im Grunde erst spannend.' Reize, mit denen Laing auf Wechselt die Beleuchtung ganz und gar nicht geizen. Immer auf der Suche nach Spannung, nach dem geschickten Bruch und dem Wesentlichen. Das weglassen, was überflüssig ist. Extreme Gefühlszustände zwischen Euphorie, Hysterie und Tristesse, die man in mal hochdramatische, mal unverschämt freizügige, mal ganz entspannt vor sich hinfließende Hybridpopkleider verpackt. Laing teasern Vorurteile, manipulieren mit Unschuldsengelblick die gängigen Mechanismen der deutschen Sprache, brechen mal eben im Vorbeischlendern mit sämtlichen Konventionen und Erwartungshaltungen. Und sie stellen eiskalt lächelnd die Geschlechterrollen auf den Kopf. Wobei sich doch jeder irgendwann in Laings exemplarischen Sozialstudien wieder findet. Wenn man ganz ehrlich ist, geht man nur ins Fitnessstudio, um Muskelpartien zu trainieren, die im Grunde absolut nutzlos sind und keinen anderen Sinn haben, als sexy auszusehen. Es hat schon etwas von Tierbeschau, aber insgeheim geht man selbst zum Training und steht ja auch irgendwie drauf...' Mit dem fast cartoonhaft überspitzten 'Sei doch bitte wieder gut' hat das Quartett nach dem soundtechnischen Make-Over von Trude Herrs 60er Jahre-Schmonzette 'Morgens immer müde' einen weiteren Schlagerklassiker zu neuem Leben reanimiert und Heintjes schnulzigen Entschuldigungssong nach typischer Laing-Manier zu einem zynischen R'n'B-Monster aufgepimpt. Ihr Fazit ziehen Nicola Rost und Co. schließlich mit dem augenzwinkernd - Das letzte Lied' betitelten Rausschmeißer. Alle Pointen verschossen, alle Tränen vergossen. Höchste Zeit, nach durchlittener Nacht wieder nach Hause zu gehen. Alleine. Danke schön, das war's. 'Ich zeige auf, wo's weh tut. Es ist völlig normal, auch seine Schwächen offen zu legen. Ich finde es immer sympathisch, wenn ich zu hören bekomme, dass diese zwischenmenschlichen Katastrophen auch anderen Menschen passieren und man nicht alleine ist. Wenn es bei uns irgendeine Message gibt, dann die, dass wir alle die gleichen Probleme haben. Das kann einem wirklich Trost geben.'

2011 erschien "Earthly Powers", das Debütalbum von Pollyester, der Band der Münchener Bassistin und
