After a string of twenty plus 12-inches, various high-flying mix-compact-discs, other audio-visual eccentricities and even books, she is finally ready to make a collection public that embodies the very character of Live At Robert Johnson and its affiliated club in Offenbach am Main. During this collection of 11 tracks, you will meet old and new companions; hear withdrawn songs and extrovert composi- tions, experience Frankfurt skyline techno-soul, hobo house and divergent disco. Starting off with new kid on the block Chinaski and an extended mix of the fragile "Lunch", Live At Robert Johnson old hands Massimiliano Pagliara and Lauer are on top of their respective games, Roman Flügel sends warped and gifted droid funk, The Citizen's Band precedes him, while newcomers Benedikt Frey and Orson Wells set good examples of their own. Not too shabby either: San Laurentino in his state of overjoy, Portable and Lcio bring their flutes of mellow madness, while the Tuff City Kids close of with "People Is A Crackhead" and some blue-eyed steppers business. Modern, old-fashioned, post-nostalgic, history-addicted and future-ridden all at the same time, "The Lifesaver Compilation" is exactly that: a life saving apparatus.

When I was 18 I had those albums you'd escape with. When we were making the Footprintz record that was really our aim - to produce an album that kids can listen and escape to'.
Released March 2013 on inimitable label Visionquest, Footprintz debut album 'Escape Yourself' delivers on a level that many dance LP's aspire to reach but few attain; a 'proper' album with each song taking you deeper and deeper into what is an accomplished and well-rounded body of work.
Every journey has its beginning, and as the opening chords of 'The Things That Last Forever' give way to a hypnotic bassline, you know you're on your way. Basslines form a key part of the Footprintz sound, acting as an anchor from which vocal melodies, synth lines and warm chords weave around in an often psychedelic style. Debut single, 'Utopia', exemplifies this ethic with its synth flirtations and optimistic vocal musings adding layers upon a solid core.
As Clarian and Addy say, 'We wanted to work around a concept of escaping the confused years of growing up. 16-25, those are the years where you're figuring yourself out, going through the motions of meeting different people and finding new things'. Tracks like 'Uncertain Change' and recent single 'Dangers of The Mouth' tackle this subject head on, focusing on the insecurities that arise from growing up. 'Zanzibar' takes a lighter approach, touching on the innocence of youth that brings with it, its own simple pleasures.
What becomes apparent throughout 'Escape Yourself' is a real craftsmanship to Footprintz's songwriting. Each track reveals a little more on each listen, aided by the slick production work, done predominantly by the guys themselves in their Montreal bunker studio full of analogue equipment, odd instruments and a fridge laden with 'special brownies'; which goes some way to explain a noirish-haze that permeates through the album.
Having met at an afterparty aged 15, Clarian North & Adam Hunter have experienced most of their adult life together. 'Escape Yourself' distills their experiences, wraps them in a warm analogue fuzz and shares them with the listener. You join them on their journey, and deep down they hope it helps you shape your own.

Born and raised in Venezuela, the charismatic Rafael Garnica is releasing his second artist album titled FOOL AGAIN on Galaktika Records from Barcelona. His debut CAE NIEVE EN CARACAS was released in 2009 on Galaktika and after numer- ous singles and remixes for labels like Moodmusic, Trenton and Chillin Mint, FOOL AGAIN will be released on 2013.
Located in sunny Barcelona, Garnica's sound can be described as vivid and organic, his background as a drummer in the 90s for many south American bands has curved an immaculate rhythm sense that you can feel is very present on Fool Again. Although the sound is very modern one can hear the echoes of past, no doubt this reflects his long musical career. Taking influences from 70s soundtracks, dub and disco and combin- ing them with his trademark warm electronic sounds capes and melodies, the sound does not leave cold, be it then on the home couch, in the car or in a packed club.
His use of vocals on songs like 'Love Someone' and 'Oh Ko- rea featuring Paulo Olarte' is a refreshing take on pop song writing, always keeping the underground one step away, he moves between styles and feelings in free form and with great results. 'No Regrets' and the lovely titled 'I Don't Care About Winning, I Care About Playing' shows his musicality, while 'Put Your Hands' is a genius dj-tool which just perfectly fits the album concept.
Also contributing to the great album appearance is the mind- blowing cover art created by well known artist Alex Trochut who already worked with big shots like Arcade Fire and Rolling Stones, and is fitting perfectly the playful, yet very personal style of Garnica.
One can say FOOL AGAIN is his bravest release till now, and with today's standards an album per se is a brave move - we salute Rafael Garnica for creating Fool Again and hope we can soon wait for his next bold move.

A yawning desert covers and oppresses a distant daemon-sphere pregnant with the stuff of a thousand Earths. Clouds of the same hue and attitude as the infinite sands gradually dominate the sky, possessed of a malign intelligence. A trans-generational caravan cuts an unforgiving line through the dunes in a fruitless mission to close its great mad circle, forever missing by just miles.
It is a roving, innumerable harem in liege to an unsexed tyrant who sings them this song, reproduced here by Resonant Hole emissaries Jeanne Vomit-Terror and Ed Sunspot, as the caravan commits the abominable act of transgressing the horizon into the infant sky-desert
'above.'
Carl Calm's 'Gulf of Night' mix is a Bedouin bio-monster raid, absconding with one silken dove and imprisoning her in a grid of paralytic gel, her form imperceptibly fading in space
independently of time, her tender age all the while intact.
The great Simonetti's own perverse interpretation of this carnal hymn sows ordnance around the lips of oases, the distant thunder of desert life extinguished packing dance-floors in silk tents
lifetimes away.

Kolortown is probably the best Deep Dub act in the world right now, drawing heavy influence from oldschool reggaedub combined with contemporary musical expressions and technology. This EP is a masterpiece in dubtricks, layering & tapebouncing and contains plenty of variety in moods, everything from cluboriented 4/4 steppers to late night chill out when the lights are out. This release shows the true skills of producers Xoki & Hieronymus here brought to a wider audience, and is comparable to the likes of Massive Attack and Portishead. Dont miss out on this part 3-it's quite extraordinary!

'Trust EP' is another wonderfully singular piece of work from an artist who's never felt the need to try and find his place, or even give the notion of attempting to fit in credence. From the title track's mournful horns and baritone vocal sample, to the pressing, insistent rhythms of 'Burnt Out Car In A Forest', the tracks on show are complex and intricate, while remaining profoundly human and engaging.
· The EP is his first release since the short-run 'Mountain' / 'Financial District' 7' released last May, and is to be followed later this year by his second full length album.
· The 12' comes out on Gold Panda's own label Notown, which has recently released an album by Dam Mantle and two EPs by Luke Abbott.

After the success of last year's long player, Slow Dancing In A Burning Room, El_Txef_A and Fiakun join forces once again to release a set of remixes taken from the album. The remix package will be released digitally and on a special 10 limited edition vinyl, featuring two remixes from the brains behind Permanent Vacation as well as Danish producer Kasper Bjørke. The digital release will feature two extra tracks including a deep disco remix of 'Feeling Idiot,' from Austin-based Andres Aguirre as well as the more melancholic re-interpretation of 'A Place To Fall Apart' by Berliner Peter Armster. This pack will be released ahead of the second studio album from El_Txef_A, scheduled for release sometime mid 2013.

Magic Feet introduce three new artists on their first label sampler, as well as a remix from label owner Craig Bratley.

The tracks cover various genres, taking their inspiration from House, Italo, New Beat and Disco.
First up is Paresse, an alias of Swedish producer Ivan Bergren. 'The Night Before You Came' is a hypnotic, evolving slice of future disco. Craig Bratley's remix shows Craig indulging in his obsession with the world of analogue synths and sees the track taking in a deeper and darker direction.
Craig has also had a hand in editing 'Lost Era' by Kepier on the flipside, a track with a direct lineage to the Belgian New Beat sound.
To round off the EP, we have Soul Tension, an alias of Tony Beardsley, who also produces as Dark Strands. 'Suburban Life' is a superb take on the slo-mo Techno sound.

N the country Mario & Vidis come from 'cover version' is a little bit of a curse word and arouses serious suspicions whenever mentioned. Even the biggest pop names do half of their gigs and have half of their income just performing well-known songs and impersonating well-known international artists. But when the vocals of Bon Iver's Re: Stacks recorded by up and coming British singer songwriter James 'Barbarossa' Mathé were sent their way they didn't have a slightest doubt. Not an obvious track selection and a really unique vocal treatment inspired them for a cover version of a different kind. As yet another proof of superior quality the release comes with a remix from Âme. Vinyl only, limited to 300 copies, and packed together with a beautiful poster this one's a little bit special.

Upon the first listen, the work of Fernando unfolds directly on your brain and leaves a long lasting feeling of drama. Fernando Pulichino is one those lucky guys who can pick up any instrument and write songs without breaking a sweat.
He first caught my attention with a remake of the Bauhaus classic "Kick in the Eye" released on Redux in 2008. He then backed up this great start with releases and remixes for labels like International Feel, Under the Shade, Internasjonal and Nang. He also very busy touring as part of the 2020 Soundsystem band and he is also in Silver City with Julian Sanza.
We decided to put together a long player to highlight the talents of our man in Buenos Aires. The construction of "Float" reveals an astonishing wealth of musical ideas, brazen touches of new wave and icy modern disco sounds are evident throughout. Low slung basses are also a theme that runs right through "Float" whether it's the opening song "A Place" which has a monster electronic bottom end or "From out there" which sits firmly on the punk funk dinner table; bass lines are clearly important to Fernando.

Fryars is the musical brainchild of London-based 22 year old Benjamin Garrett. First emerging as a teenager with a highly acclaimed set of self-released bedroom recordings that quickly picked up fans from Kanye to Depeche Mode.
 
Returning in October 2012 Fryars has set out his stall as one of the names to watch for next year with the romantically bleak but beautiful electronic pop of 'Love So Cold'. Now 'In My Arms' gives us a hint of what's to come in his forthcoming album: a darkly romantic vision that combines the harmonies and melodies of 70s California refracted through the prism of a crisply cutting edge London future forward production, a bass culture Beach Boys ballad that points the way towards what's sure to be one of the most bewitching and beautiful albums of the next year.

Hiem, who created the stunning '2.A.M' single with the Human League's Phil Oakey earlier this year on Nang, returns with another collaboration of equal measure, this time with the UK's one and only Roots Manuva.Hiem, aka Nick "Nico" Eastwood and David "Bozz" Boswell come from Sheffield's rich musical heritage. Bozz once fronted the 'chart bothering' outfit called All Seeing I back in the the 90's, a supergroup of sorts that included Jarvis Cocker and Babybird to name a few. The Guardian recently called Hiem 'A rum mix of lissom disco, acid northern observation a la John Cooper Clarke, brutal Sheff-tronics and glittering crystalline electro'.

This 12" brings you Baba Stiltz (Studio Barnhus), the new Doogie Howser on the house-scene.

Joakim / Vincent L'Traques (Jam City) produced club bomb with Kindness on le mic! TIP!
Everyone is a collaborative project involving Kindness and Joakim plus occasional guests - in this case the mysterious V. L'Traques. Joakim and Kindness met in Paris while the latter was recording his album at Philippe Zdar's studio. They became food obsessed mates and eventually recorded this track on a late afternoon with V. L'Traques helpingon the 909 drum machine.
This release will be backed---up by a Joakim x Kindness DJ tour around the world in Feb/March. Crowdspacer (or CRWDSPCR as a tribute to Merce Cunningham's dance performance) Is a new vinyl---only label dedicated to outstanding club Music launched by Tigersushi's founder and musician/DJ/Producer, Joakim.

JD Records is a new underground house label based in Barcelona and operated by Jimi Disko from Subwax Bcn. This very first release is produced by Lay-Far, a very talented Moscow-based dj / producer, author of 'In-Beat-Ween Sessions' podcast. His sound is a vivid fusion of dance rhythms, deeply rooted in jazz, funk and soul. His music got signed by such labels as Development Music, 4Lux, Tokyo Dawn Records, Amplified, Soul Imago just to name a few and getting support from the likes of of Move D, Jimpster, Craig Smith, Recloose, Kev Beadle, Joey Negro, Alex Barck, Gerd, Rainer Truby, Red Rack'em, Josh Wink, Lars Behrenroth, Simbad, etc. The EP is just what it says on the tin: a collection of one of the earliest tracks from Lay-Far, specially reworked for the release (Re-Mystery II), one of his latest tracks - a manifestation of personal freedom (Liberation Song), and a great remix from the detroit house legend Terrence Parker himself - all in all a great combination, bluring the boundaries in-between house, jazz, funk and brazilian music.

Deep4life brought a breath of fresh air to house music in the late 90´s. A handful of really good synthetic and timeless house music releases made it a cult label. Now the owner, Chris Gray and one of the leading figures, DaRand Land, meet to do it again. They give us a delicious LP with large amounts of deep moods; Atmospheric and emotional house music (but not only) with synthesizer lines, synthetic basses, voices and breathing sequences. Chris and DaRand are a winning combination. No doubt.

In their own words, like a radio-controlled mechanical, electro-mechanical and multifunctional musical instrument, Berliner Ring build up relentless and relentlessly different grooves in a characteristically non-direct way. As if playing around without focus they layer their tracks and slowly position them into form. The tracks featured here were originally released on CD on the Art Yard label. Melodies are fragmented, often even sparse, the groove never stops, but does so with intervals and while changing focus. Berliner Ring references similar bands in the krautrock and post-rock genre, but it's subtlety, the originality of their self-built instruments and their songs that shift from downright groovy to more atmospheric explorations of ambience and texture guarantee them a unique voice and perspective. Essential stuff.

With a new alias, TM404, Andreas Tilliander has created enjoyable ambient dub simmering with life and details. The songs have all been recorded live, in real time in the studio. A unique way of operating within today's electronic music. - Everything is recorded in one take. Nothing is post arranged, says Andreas Tilliander, and adds that this might be his most ambitious album ever. The project's name is also a tribute to Roland, although of the more intricate kind. - When they made these machines in the eighties, they avoided the 404, since the sound for four, 'chi', is the same as the sound for death in Japanese. At that time it was therefore taboo and the 404 was never launched. Not until now, due to my album!

Lost Paradise delivers a modern execution of our post-disco dance music culture, maintaining references to the past and looking for the oasis on the horizon. Lost Paradise #2 features two originals from Space Coast, AKA Sleazy McQueen and Jorge Collazo. Vibe A.M.is deep and dreamy with live flute and piano, emotive melodies and groovy bass. Social Disco Club and Last Waltz turn in two completely different mixes, both fit for the late or early hours of the night. Can't Get Enough Sunshine is a melodic and cerebral ode to mid-nineties New York house but with a twist.

The first release of the new Dutch label Pinkman contains four great tracks from Drvg Cvltvre, formerly known as RA-X. His music is slow, doomy, with broken disco and house elements, focussing on on hypnotic repetition and percussion. Most of the music is made with electronic means, but is rooted in an organic, percussive approach.
The first track is the cult hit 'Offender Status', deeply doomed disco that will hypnotize the dance floor as soon as you put that needle on.
Next is the slow melodramatic track 'Quasimodo Predicted All Of this'. Imagine you will hear this one at 7 p.m when the sun is rising and you're all drvgged out, strong emotions! On the flip you'll find 'Lingettes Humides', a typical westcoast-ish electro disco track with a theme that will be stuck in your head forever.
The final track 'Dakar' takes you on a voyage through the Mediterranean Sea, raw submarine house with a middle east theme.

The Belgian Testtoon label rereleases Artificial Horizon, a track from the early 80's by the obscure English band Shoc Corridor. Glacial, driving and surprisingly modern, Artificial Horizon was one of the six tracks on Shoc Corridor's debut album Experiments in Incest. Remix duties are performed by Mordant Music, who takes the original into his own universe, delivering a bubbling, industrial and spacious rework. The Belgian Bepotel takes Artificial Horizon into nu-house territory and Testtoon artist Oubys delivers a driving, modern Techno remix, heavily based on the original. Recommended!!

MUTUAL MUSIK is back on deck: the label, which for the time being is based in Berlin and Munich, - kicks off its third EP with LIELL. LIELL stands for - Liebe ist ein leises Lied' (love is a quiet song) and the four new tracks from label captain Johannes Beck reveal Techno from a poetic and fragile aspect. Beck's sophisticated compositions are characterized by slowly evolving arcs of suspense, simultaneously careful and powerful piano cues, and basses which delve into the innermost realms. The tracks are created for the club but go beyond musical fads and count on a timeless style.

Zwar trägt jede Ausgabe der 2001 gegründeten POP-AMBIENT-Reihe das jeweilige Erscheinungsjahr im Titel, doch sollte keinem Kenner der Materie die feine Ironie verborgen geblieben sein, daß man es hier mit in jeder Hinsicht zeitloser Musik zu tun hat: ein Wohlfühl-Klassiker für die einen, ein strenges Formexperiment für die anderen, verortet sich die Serie seit jeher im Spannungsfeld zwischen Hörgewohnheit und akustischer Neugier, interessiert sich weniger für saisonal bedingte Stil-Verwehungen und vor allem für den Raum zwischen den Taktschlägen, für das, was von der Bassdrum übrigblieb. Wie in den Jahren zuvor versammelt POP AMBIENT 2013 dabei eine illustre Produzentenrunde, in der sich neben Pionieren und gern gesehenen Gästen auch überraschende Neuzugänge finden.

Ein Mitstreiter der ersten Stunden ist natürlich LEANDRO FRESCO, dem somit auch die Ehre des Anfangs gebührt: sein CUANDO EL SOL GRITA LA MANANA eröffnet Pop Ambient 2013 überaus lyrisch mit den 'Tränen der Morgensonne', ein soeben erwachender Klang, der sich noch den Schlaf aus den Augen reibt, während er in das All hinausblinzelt. Zu den eher unüblichen Verdächtigen hingegen gehört MICHAEL MAYER, der hier - genau wie Superpitcher in der 2012er Ausgabe der Reihe - sein Pop-Ambient-Debut abliefert. SULLY, ursprünglich der kongenial inszenierte Opener des hochgelobten 'Mantasy'-Albums, wechselt im Remix von Pop-Ambient-Kurator WOLFGANG VOIGT in einen gasförmigen Aggregatzustand über, verliert dabei jedoch niemals die charakteristische Textur. Ein alter Bekannter im Pop-Ambient-Universum ist JENS-UWE BEYER (alias Popnoname), der die konkrete Hymne DEUTZ AIR 2 beisteuert, gefolgt von Jörg Burger als TRIOLA, der dem französischen Regisseur und Mitbegründer des poetischen Realismus JEAN VIGO Tribut zollt und dabei die Grenze zwischen synthetischem und 'natürlichem' Klang erkundet. Im Anschluß
illustriert MARSEN JULES mit POINT OF NO RETURN das Erzittern des Gletschers unter den Schritten eines Riesen und setzt so einen beeindruckenden dramatischen Höhepunkt. Musik durchs Brennglas hingegen zelebriert MIKKEL METAL, dessen fokussiertes RECOMBINATION einen Puls am Rande des Beats ausmacht. ANTON KUBIKOV aka Scsi 9 lässt dann in AMBIANOPOLIS ein anklagendes Klavier von legendären Städten berichten, die das Meer verschlang.

WOLFGANG VOIGT's iteratives Wanderprojekt RÜCKVERZAUBERUNG geht auf Pop Ambient 2013 in die nunmehr siebte Runde: nach wie vor ist der Fluß ein reißender, nur fließt er eben rückwärts, schwimmt sozusagen gegen den
eigenen Strom. Weniger ein musizierender Maler, noch umgekehrt, darf man im Voigt'schen Ballett auf dem Vulkan den Duktus eines geheimen Bildhauers erkennen, der sowohl Ton als auch Bild wie eine Skulptur formt. Das Ergebnis
ist massiv sinnliche Abstraktion zwischen Dissonanz und Harmonie. Die vorletzte Runde wird von LEANDRO FRESCO's zweitem 2013er Beitrag EL CRUCE IMPOSIBLE eingeläutet, einem zuerst abwartenden Drone-Konstrukt,
welches sich schließlich in schmerzhaft schönen Akkorden auflöst. Den letzten Ton hat TERRAPIN, das neue Projekt von Jörg Burger und Matias Aguayo
einen Blick zurück wirft und als insgesamt erst zweites Vocal-Stück der Pop Ambient-Reihe den perfekten Epilog liefert.

Sixth single in FORT KNOX FIVE'S "RADIO FREE DC REMIXED" series. THOMASBLONDET puts his hands on "SAO FUNKY", FUZZBOX gets heavier with "PAPA WASSTONED", and STEREOTYP gives two version of "THE WONDER STRIKES AGAIN"because one wasn't enough (FORT KNOX loved them both.)

Force of Nature mix cd, allows possible conclusions in both ways.
The mix of KZA and DJ Kent has an ageless spirit full of cosmic echoes that don't seem to be some in the first place. It shows the free wheeling groove of two long time friends from Tokyo that share the same musical taste and vision to exspand their consciousness.
During the last decade Force of Nature emerged as a duo that creates music under the guidance of their large vinyl collection and background as loop loving HipHop devotees. In and outside of Japan they produced and remixed artists such as DJ Shadow, Five Deez, Sly Mongoose, You the Rock and Keiichi Sokabe.

Beside making music they been and are an active part of Tokyo's DJ culture. Till today they release three full length solo albums and twocooporation longplayers with artists such as Fat Jon or Tsutchie. They alsotoured massive around Japan, Europe, and the USA to spread their musical vision all over the planet.
In the last years Force of Nature been quite interms of collective production work. KZA released a string of highly acclaimed solo records on Endless Flight while DJ Kent emerged with his own unique sound and musical style to one of the most highly respected DJs of Japan.
Now thejoined their force of nature again for a mix cd that is not concerned about what is hip and hot. Timelessness is the leader and house, disco, balearic, and cosmic vibes in a gentle way call the tune.

The mix starts slowly with a melodious folk guitar-laden dub version of the track - Lay' produced by Leeds finest audio seducer James Holroyd aka Begin. With the passage to the Lexx remix of - Field of Dream', a guitar loving balearic track originally produced by The Project Club, their mix start to highfly and gets breezy, open, and full of groove.
From then on the two fall over to the funk side of the fence and start to serve the dancefloor without forgetting that musicality comes always first! From the young but experienced British duo Seahawks to an Italo loving track by Boys From Patagonia, from Canada's finest kraut-disco seducer Eddie C to a soulful froggy DJ T remix of a track by Compuphonic from Belgium and a Larry Heard influenced acid-lover by the NotNotFun records newcomer Andy Sangria:their selection features with a to die for atmospheric touch a wide range of established acts and new cats on the scene.

But as said before: music comesfirst so names don't matter in the first place. - Expansions' reminds you on that with an irresistibly sensual groove full of silky luxuriant tones thatcarry the groove to the melody and way back. A mix that spreads a slinky grace and that is highly infectious due its deepness towards storytelling with dancemusic that goes far beyond the dancefloor.

02 .the project club/field of dream lexx rmx

Mental 6-track mini album by the notorious Frak from Sweden. Deep Twist contains two sides of Frak. The more synth-pop oriented sound (still frak weirdness) on side A, (recorded at the same session as Kontra Musik realease 'Triffid Gossip') but for some reason don't sounding the same at all.... Side B is a little bit more serious heavy electronic dance. Limited edition of 250!

V's take on house music comes at the listener from an outsider's perspective, as his native Ukraine traditionally hasn't been a hotbed of this genre. Consequently, his new album on Nuearth Kitchen, 13th District, hits your ears at an odd angle, as V (aka Vakula, aka Mikhaylo Vityk) bends somewhat familiar tropes into fascinating, fresh shapes. Clearly enamored of American funk, soul, and jazz, V recalibrates these familiar elements—the amino acids of house—into dream-logic, hypnotic scenarios that accentuate their visceral and cerebral qualities. One of 13th District's highlights is "Untitled I," which elicits a 3 AM poignancy through a languid, soul-jazzy house trot, wrenching the heart further by looping a female vocalist crooning, "My love." On a grittier tip, "Untitled V" weaves urgent gangster dialogue through a Curtis Mayfield-esque blaxploitation-flick scenario—phenomenal corkscrewing bass line, pimp-rolling beats, reverbed falsetto vocals—filtered through a hazy distancing effect that only adds to its dramatic power. On "Untitled XII," V contrasts brutal, off-center beats and a forbidding bass line with twinkling keyboard and xylophone tones and tranquil clarinet motif, creating a gorgeous tension between opposing forces. If anything could resurrect the long-dormant trip-hop genre, it's this stunning track. Elsewhere on 13th District, there are tracks that recall Marvin Gaye's phenomenal 1972 soundtrack for Trouble Man—a kind of dazed, glazed soulfulness in which some people in supremely difficult, tense situations seek escape and solace. The funk on 13th District is thick and deep, slowed to a sumptuous lope, the better to augment libidinous impulses. The tracks here are outrageously sensuous, but not in overt ways. V spurs erotic shivers with utmost subtlety—and with a hint of derangement. There's a sweet madness to his methodical method.
