Sirens is the highly anticipated second full-length LP from Nicholas Jaar, the Chilean-born electronic music producer, mixing engineer and DJ, which comes out on October 14, 2016 via Other People/Kobalt. A prolific artist with a wide palette of talents, Jaar spent his teenage years in dance music circles in New York City, where he now resides. In 2011, he released his debut album, the critically-acclaimed Space is Only Noise. In 2012, he was contributed to BBC Radio 1's prestigious 'Essential Mix' series, winning 'Essential Mix of the Year'. In 2013, Matador released the debut album from Darkside, Jaar's project with his friend Dave Harrington. The band toured the record with a giant, rotating circular mirror, with key performances at Primavera Sound and Coachella. Other notable projects by Jaar include From Scratch, a live concept first developed for MOMA PS1, Pomegranates, an ambient record and alternate soundtrack to the Armenian film The Colour of Pomegranates, and the original soundtrack for´Dheepan, a thriller by the French filmmaker Jacque Audiard about a family of Sri Lankan refugees living in the suburbs of Paris. Dheepan won the Palme D'Or at Cannes in 2015. Jaar is the founder of the New York based imprint Other People, releasing music and spoken word by a diverse group of artists ranging from Lydia lunch to Ezekiel Honig.

Following the 20th anniversary - Monika Werkstatt album which features collaborations from all of the current artists on Moabit and monika, Gudrun Gut's monika enterprise now takes the collaborative process a step further with a collection of remixes taken from the werkstatt album.

The opening track on the single is a truly Nordic co-production with Charlotte Bendiks from Tromsø, Norway, remixing Finnish artist based in Berlin Islaja. Islaja's tracks are ever shrouded in a bizarre sense of mystery and Bendiks remix of Sappho's Gifts accentuates the surreal essence of this piece.

Blindholes by Columbian-artist-in-Berlin Lucrecia Dalt was the first track from the Monika Werkstatt album to be released as a preview and Romanian producer and DJ Borusiade harnesses its groove turning it into a hypnotic industrial stomper.

The B-side starts with LA producer Nite Jewel's utterly funky take on Barbara Morgenstern's song Grow. Suitably for Morgenstern, Nite Jewel turns this tune into next level pop including disco cowbells and the grooviest of synth licks. A feelgood track if ever there was one - ideal for house parties, or just dancing round the house on your own!

London-born, Berlin-based artist Perera Elsewhere (signed to FoF music in Los Angeles) a.k.a Sasha Perera (ex-Jahcoozi/ Bpitch Ctrl/ Kitty Yo) develops Love Parade founder Danielle de Picciotto's Desert Fruit into a doom-drenched piece of beat poetry layered with rich synth textures, emotionality and Morricone-esque melodics.

Closing the 12' is another Los Angeles producer, Daedelus (Brainfeeder/ Anticon), who's take on Sonae's Between Two Worlds is a luscious retro-futurist synth escapade traversing the fields of wonky, dreamwave and chill-out.

The Berlin-Los Angeles connection is a much loved theme for the monika label. This 12' draws on that theme by recruiting Djs and producers based in both cities to remix tracks from - Monika Werkstatt . In so doing it takes the collaborations started on Werkstatt to the next level. It's a truly international affair, bringing yet more diversity to already very diverse source material. (Dirk Markham)

Ghosts of the Sky is a new project from Taelue and Chicagodeep, the producers behind the occasional Perpetual Rhythms label. They begin in a murky mood with "Asylum", a low-slung, dub-influenced late night techno shuffler that makes great use of foreboding, horror-inspired chords, ghoulish electronics and delay-laden vocal yelps. It sounds like a contemporary take on the kind of gothic moodiness once offered up by Bauhaus. There's more of an unflustered aesthetic about "Squash", a throbbing deep techno jam that makes great use of undulating acid lines and picturesque chords. Flipside "Cycle Turning" closes proceedings by joining the dots between the yearning beauty of classic deep house, the far-sighted electronics of futurist techno and clattering intensity of analogue drum machine rhythms.

London-based DJ HAAi has released her latest single, 'Be Good' on her own label, Coconut Beats. Best known for her Saturday night residency at London club Phonox, HAAi has gained widespread recognition thanks to her vibrant sets and eclectic mixes.
'Be Good' echoes HAAi's former work as lead singer and guitarist of Australian psych-rock band The Dark Bells; the new song features all her own vocals, making the track an entirely organic and self-produced HAAi release.
HAAi's wistful vocals are contrasted against driving drums, rattling percussion and dark synth chords for a stirring yet understated anthem that reflects HAAi's tastes for the ' bassy, textured and percussive'. An accomplished production, this is still only HAAi's second release under her electronic moniker following on from her 2 track 'DaDaDa' EP.
The release comes in the midst of HAAi's busiest summer yet as a DJ. It comes shortly after her much-anticipated headline back to back set at Sunfall Festival with The Black Madonna, an appearance at Pikes Ibiza alongside Midland and ahead of her gig at the tastemaking Oasis Festival in Morocco. This is all on top of her residency at Phonox, where she has become not only a resident but a curator of her own forward-thinking Coconut Beats nights, where friends including Daniel Avery, Chaos in the CBD, Moscoman and Auntie Flo have joined her at the decks. 'I just want to keep people excited and dancing,' she says. It's a simple and honest mission, but one that HAAi completes effortlessly each and every time.

Baba Stiltz-on-Studio Barnhus is an ongoing series of records that both define our label and constitute a sort of independent, freewheeling sidetrack to its narrative. Since LAARS epic crowdsurfing days touring with his former disco-band Tôg, LAARS has been honing his production skills with more metric music inspired by the classic godfathers Patrick Crowley and Giorgio Moroder for Lysår/None 12". Making playful, percussive house music with a disco heart is one of LAARS` passions that comes into play on this 12.Sampling hits from his favorite records, sweeping filters, playing on his juno 60 and having his band mates come in to play percussion and synthesizers over some of his grooves you can hear how much fun they´ve been having making the record. The mysterious Willy Nickersen has remixed the songs into deeper territories complementing the record making it able to lift dance floors across the globe.

Disc One opens with "I Know The Face, But Not The Name," an unabashedly plaintive trip through classic electro rhythms; flip it over for "The Words Are Only Sounds," a haunting affair for synthesizer and voice. Disc Two's "The Electric Eye is Upon Me" swirls endlessly, while "Shiba Inu Dub" is cut for the floor and coy as its namesake. Disc Three's jackin' "Feel Your Body" will cause you to do just that; "German Friendship" sounds like D.A.F. on dissociatives.

WOLFGANG VOIGT's aptly named ANTIRETROAMBIENTPSYCHOLKAMIX is the first of two revamps from the Kompakt founder and veteran 4/4 anarchist - starting off innocuous enough with some gently colored ambient trickling, it then suddenly sidesteps into lush pop techno minimalism at its very best. Ambala continues Mison's extremely fruitful 15-year plus relationship with Kenneth Bager's Music For Dreams label which has seen him release material both as Cantoma and Frontera. This brand-new project was recorded in collaboration with Danish musician and engineer Volmer across a series of weekend sojourns in the scenic streets of Copenhagen and showcases yet another side of prolific producer Mison. He says: "Ever since I first met Kenneth Bager at Roskilde Festival in 1992, where I recognised his outlandish dress sense from photos I'd seen in i-D magazine, we have been friends. It was the start of a long musical relationship, where we eventually started working together. My first Cantoma album was recorded for Music For Dreams in the early 2006. The Frontera project with Pete Herbert was realized a couple of years later. Last year we decided it was time for something new, which led to recording Ambala over the past year in Copenhagen together with Thomas Volmer Schulz.'

A record about broken dreams and lost hopes, breathing an atmosphere of harrowing gloom and disturbing bitterness. Very limited batch!

Its summer, Real Ibiza is back and we are onto our tenth volume. It may have taken us 19 years to get this far but all things come to those who wait. As usual the musical scope is pure Balearic but the producers at work come from all points around the world.

We open our summer salvo of blissful melodies with a trio of big name musicians, Fleetwood Mac founder Peter Green joins with chill-out lord Chris Coco for their version of the Albatross classic. Electronic wizards The Orb float on by with their beatless remix. Next we are off to Australia where Gary B smoothly sets the tempo with his haunting vocal and cavernous, laid back grooves.

Netherlands based Symbols Of Sound are next with their Balearic smooth jazz of "Look At The Stars". Aimes from West Coast US is next with plucky, smokebelch-like Grooving In Guatemala. Italian Balearic legend Danielle Baldelli pairs with DJ Rocca for their melodic seaside soundscape that is "Poouli". Next two Russian producers, First, Sad Radio On Cassini lifts us and carries us away with his sweet and deep synth layers before Cardmoth strips it back for a note by note melody on a solo acoustic guitar.

Norwegians Plastic Fantastic take things on a jazzy twist with the bongo, guitar and flute melodious ditty. Keeping the theme of the Spanish guitar JR Haim is next with an exclusive "Heimweh". UK based Kinara are next with their lazy afternoon-ed "Longest Day". Next Italians Audio Affair give us a slice of Balearic soul with their smooth vocal slider "Living The Life". Australian Mission Brown get moody with "Rusted" before 70's French Cameroonian artist Tchammy Patterson relights his musical career with the slow swing beat of "Africa Melodie".

We round off the trip with quietly optimistic and uplifting "Amethyst" from UK producer Audio Glider before some slow "Floating" from Johannes Huppetz and a stargazingly, fantastical closer from the Italian duo the Diaphanoids with "Too Many Stars Not Enough Light".

Raam is putting out records in a steady pace and has already reached Raam 006. On this EP Raam is diving deeper into the deep house universe and the production and sound quality is immaculate.
The EP opens with Titled, which is the perfect marriage between that warm deep bass-line, rolling percussion and fragile and wobbly chords.


With the tracks Const & Austre Raam digs even deeper into a raw and analog territory that he has been curating skillfully for quiet some time.

We hit you with the second single from Jimpster's acclaimedSilent Stars LP loaded with the good stuff! The album has received much love from DJ's and critics alike and it's clear that after 25 years in the business Jamie Odell retains his reputation as one of the most talented and consistent electronic artists in the UK. As A&R and DJ he also boasts a fine ear for emerging talent and here he hands over the reigns to two hotly tipped producers to rework his originals. First up we have the incredible Peggy Gou who takes on The Sun Comes Up ft. Jinadu.Her speedy rise through the ranks over the past 12 months has been down to just a handful of brilliant EP's on Rekids and Phonica and her skills as a club DJ. The Berlin based Korean sits somewhere between Detroit, London and Berlin in sound and her DJ sets are an assured, kinetic combination of dark, pulsing house and techno, broken beats and abstract compositions. Her influences shine through on her remix which goes deep and musical whilst retaining an energetic drive for the dancefloor. Perhaps the most mesmerizing, floor-focused track from the LP is up next; Silent Stars. An electronic tribal dance which builds to a speaker-wobbling sub-bass breakdown and wonderful chord section at the climax. Next, a remix from West Coast native Urulu who came to Jimpster's attention through his releases on Let's Play House, Dirt Crew and his own Amadeus label. Trying to describe his remix of Where You Areft. Khalil Anthony is no easy task, fusing elements of techno, broken beat and afro house, but check it out and if you can think of a suitable new sub genre to pigeonhole it with, let us know. Closing the release we have the slow-burning, balearic-tinged beauty known as The Sun Comes Up featuring Jinadu on vocals. This is one to drop in the warm after-glow of a crazy night under the stars when tired legs and happy hearts crave a soulful groove to give them one last lift.

We have concluded that there are really no more seasons and we let ourselves be distracted by the words of "L'Imparfaite" slipped in the midst of fluid melodies like orange juice.

Inga Mauer loves trains. "It's a fantastic chance to be nowhere", she says. From Cologne To Clone is, in many ways, a celebration of this nomadic sense of existence. "I don't need a home, only a studio", she confirms. Recorded in a period when Inga lived between Cologne and Rotterdam, home to the famed Clone Records shop (hence the title), the music on this EP is inspired both by the emptiness you suffer in futile non-places such as airports and the chasm you experiment in majestic scenarios as a Russian forest. Vactrol Park is an honest outpouring of thematic obsession, a celebration of championed studio components and the mastery of their nuance, an avant garde collaboration between Kyle Martin (Land of Light, Spectral Empire) and Guido Zen (Gamers in Exile, Brain Machine). Simply entitled "I" (the first of a 2 part series), this debut EP opens the door to a world of ebb and flow, layers of oscillation falling in and out of sync, keeping us on the brink of vertigo and, as cliché as it may sound, we find solace in its chaos. This homogeneous release plays with the notions of systems as beautifully symbolized Mario Hugo's capsule of cardiology—yet another visually arresting module in the ESP Institute catalogue. Some music is made for drugs, some is made on drugs, these tracks simply are drugs.

Signs of Change is the fourth chapter of Landside's journey through diverse sound researches that cross over to industrial ambients, basslines and a whirling melody accompained by a crescendo of sonorities that won't release you from the flow.
Distance is a throw back voyage in a melodic orchestra of ethnic sonorities that elevate you to an esquisite and new dimension.
Luke Hess Remix, is a night bounce into into dub techno that will hypnotize you with its hazy yet enthralling use of vocals.
Kelpe Remix is a deep and intense dreamlike hazy trip, accopanied by trippy melodies that melt with the voices of the original track.

Optimo Trax 30 celebrates a double 30 year anniversary: the original release date of Rejekto' and 30 years since Twitch started dj'ing. In 1987, Twitch, who wasn't known as Twitch yet, picked up a copy of Rejekto' at Glasgow's then numero uno import shop, 23rd Precinct. He was smitten.

Shortly after that he got his first ever dj gig and played Rejekto' in his first ever dj set. Nobody danced to it. He kept playing it and still nobody danced to it. Eventually he gave up playing it, but never stopped loving it.

A few years ago he felt the time was right to try playing it again, and this time, people danced to it. In fact, people loved it and would ask about it and shriek in delight when they heard it. There is often a lot of false nostalgia talked about in dance music and how it was better back in the day'. Well, in some ways it was but in many it wasn't, and 30 years later it feels as if perhaps ears are more open, or perhaps Rejekto' was just ahead of its time

From Germany, written and produced by Ra-Hen and Talla 2XLC, Robotiko Reject's Rejekto' was the inaugural release on the Techno Drome International label. With a powerful and seductive vocal sung in Romanian it has latterly been categorised as EBM/Techno but at the time didn't really fit into any convenient genre. Twitch called it electrobeat.

To celebrate this 30th release on Optimo Trax, the 12' comes in a
special sleeve designed by Katie Shambles and Andrew Beltran. The always innovative and underground label that is Catch Recordings is back with release number eight, and once again it is a compelling offering featuring four tracks from DoubtingThomas.
That man is better known as Aurélien Rivière and has released on the label before, as well as on the likes of Metroline, Amam and Organic-Music in both EWP and album format.
He is a regal at the finest clubs around Europe as a DJ and he proves that once again his vision of music sets the tone for other artists. Opener Aurelio Buen Dia is a seductive and captivating track with rich little details marbling a deep rooted drum line.
Expansive chords add a sense of scale and colour, pained vocals heighten the tender mood and the overall result is a musical, enchanting sound that is full of charm.
Next up, Low.fi Osaka feat Odd Soul is a perfectly reduced brew of minimal beats and synthetic textures overlayed with some sombre and beautifully melancholic piano chords that really encapsulate the feel of the track.
It is a restrained but impactful piece for the more considered dance floors. Then comes White Post Lane Feat Santiago Posada (Drums & Melodica), a more spaced out and intoxicatingly lazy beat with sonorous chords and tumbling drums.
Random hits and freaky little sounds add intrigue as it progresses, slowly but surely. The Changes has rich trumpet lines, akin to late night Jazz floating above downbeat drums delivering a thoroughly heart broken affair for the dead of night that slow emerges into another lush groove. This is expressive, individual and truly passionate music that will deliver a unique experience when it comes to electronic music.
