Munich based pair Jorkes are something of an enigma, having appeared on the scene recently with a fully formed sound and a desire to let their music do the speaking for them. Musically the duo seem to be operating with few boundaries, looking to express their emotional states through their music with scant consideration for styles or genres. This latest release sees Jorkes team up with fellow Munich resident and vocalist Karol Schmejchel to deliver a slice of evocative, slo-mo nu-disco. The release kicks of with the original mix of 'Thank You', marrying chugging drums and warm bass with stirring pads and the emotionally charged vocals of Schmejchel. It's a perfect track for dark backrooms and home lounging alike. The remix comes from Manchester trio Menage a Trois who deliver a sonical beautiful reworking built around heartwrenching keys and heavily reverbed guitar parts. Simple understated drums carrying the record along as their vocal treatment soars towards the heavens, this is sublime stuff. The vinyl release will also feature an exclusive instrumental of the Menage a Trois mix for those who like things a little more stripped back. In keeping with Jorkes' creative outlook, and following on from their previous release, there will be an exclusive music video of 'Thank You' forthcoming which is likely to set pulses racing once again! For this cheeky 7' release Ken Oath Records have drafted Moontown Records head honcho and field recording specialist Low Flung in for two tracks built around found sound and cloudless Balearic rhythms. On the A-side, Low Flung, who runs the weird and wildly prolific Moontown out of his bedroom, delivers the upbeat 'Coastal Garden', a gentle stepper that forms bell-like synth's around a playful baseline, hand claps and the background chirp of birds. 'Grey Foliage' rounds out the B-side in a more meditative fashion, building itself on looping synthesisers, a calm tambourine and a comforting wide-eyed stare.

Nights are coming and going and faces appear and vanish, great plans are made and rarely held up to. While that is the mode that keeps the machine running, from time to time something greater can evolve out this fast paced spare time profession. That is to say, it is a great pleasure to smooth the way for our dear friend »Kleintierschaukel« and his »Blue Elephant«. A rare species whose origins are found in »Motomia« (A1), that odd place where sticky clocks tick faster than time passes. Still all confusion is lost in the calm whispering of Juliette (A2), a harmony of strange confidence. Despite all its apparent harmlessness, it needs the soothing voice of our all beloved Leonie to let its vast figure withdraw to the rivers and show the gentle nature of this »Unterwassermann« (B1). Back in his element all notches are smoothed out and movements unite in a rythmic flow. This is not a documentary, this is the Blue Elephant: »TV Ende« (B2).

Analogue Attic's first full-length album comes from local Jazz musician, Matthew Hayes. Based on themes and memories from around Victoria, Indigo sounds like the feeling of diving through waves and sitting on golden sand.
Meditative synth lines and Hayes' stunning bass guitar work ebbs and swells like the ocean. A beautiful first release from this up and coming artist.

The name MONDO has its roots in 'MONDO MOVIES", an Italian movie genre born in the 60's. Mondo movies are characterized by documentary-like content that addresses several topics from around the world ("mondo"). Edizioni Mondo label has the goal to produce music that is descriptive of concepts, images and environments. Edizioni Mondo is inspired by library music, a genre frequently used as theme or background music in radio, film and television in that very same period. Numero 7 by the trusted in-house band Odeon pushed all the typical and beloved Mondo buttons. Accompanied by version from Roman ambient hitmaker Panoram (see his album on Firecracker for further reference) and label boss L.U.C.A. with one of his quirky dance mixes and the usual great artwork, this deserves a good place on every Balearic bookshelf. Jump Source is a collaborative effort between two pals, Francis Latreille & Patrick Holland (Project Pablo). It all started on a Thursday afternoon in Montreal's Mile End at Francis' home studio. Over an MPC 2000XL, Moog Source, modular kit, and some Junos, the two tweaked breaks and blended pads until things sat just right. "Guide to Action" fits 4 tracks, some of which include solos, vocals, and amusing fadeouts.

Olim in latin can be used to indicate a time in the past or in the future. It can mean 'once upon a time' and 'someday in the future'. A name and a project to try to move away from trends and genres, by taking inspiration from the past but at the same time leaving it, moving forward to shape a different and more narrative sound. The first attempt to do so is Recursively: an 8 track album, opening with a sentence from Bunny Marrett sampled from an old documentary about St Paul's and the Jamaican immigration in Bristol during the 80's. Inspired by those intro words, Recursively is a journey born from many years moving around, packing and unpacking suitcases, leaving villages, finding cities,leaving friends and finding more, emigrating, integrating. It's a story about an entire generation trying to find the peace somewhere, somehow, sometimes by repeating the same steps in a loop of actions which seem to be the same but ultimately never are. It's a soundtrack of those feelings and at the same time a message of hope to continue the journey through the faith that the meaning is the infinite journey itself. An infinite loop masterfully represented in Carol Rollo's illustration. A story to be continued.

Here at Optimo Music we have been fans of Dennis Bovell for longer than we care to remember. We rate him as one of thee very best producers the UK has ever produced. From first hearing his work on the magnificent 'Silly Games" by Janet Kay through his incredible solo albums, his production on albums by The Slits, The Pop Group, Linton Kwesi Johnson, Orange Juice, Saâda Bonaire and many more to his astonishing mixes on piles of highly sought after dub 7"s. He has been active in music for 40 years and is still going strong. In 2014 he worked with artists ranging from Rihanna to Golden Teacher! When we heard he was going to be performing in Glasgow late last year we tracked him down and asked if he would be up for going into Green Door studios for a day and doing something with Golden Teacher's music. He was, and these are the results. Mr. Bovell did lots of overdubs, adding organ and other instrumentation, pitching down vocals and basslines and created these delirious dubbed out gems.

On the AA side is the previously unreleased "Instigator" while on the A side he reworked Golden Teacher's second single "Like A Hawk". Housed in another classic sleeve designed by Oli from Golden Teacher this two track 12" is a dream come true for us to release.

Delsin's next trick is a debut double 12" from Sentomea, an Amsterdam native, real name Sander Schuurman, you might not have heard of but a real synth freak. Exclusively producing his music in hardware-based live takes, and that gives rise to perfectly imperfect stuff that feels visceral and alive. Often making music with a visual connection, this EP is full of versatile 909 beats and fizzing electronic textures. 'Relative Solace' is up first and is a frosty house trip with bell textures and melancholic strings sounding all celestial and heavenly. 'Wander' is all about a sludgy 909 groove being lit up with bright strings and icy hi hat ringlets as dissonant pads stretch and skew all about the arrangement then 'Fortitude Boogie' has classic Detroit pads, a lovely broken rhythm and a funkateer bassline that makes the whole cut dance and emotional dance. 'Fluid' is more stripped back and clean, with rubbery 909 drums plodding below watery, gurgling synth sounds up top and this most expressive and textural EP closes with the experimental FM synthesis that is 'Matter' with its raw, off beat grooves and glassy surfaces, and finally 'Reminiscent,' a horizontal, star gazing cut that encourages you to lay back and day dream in the grass.

Following on from his recent well-received 12 on Cin Cin and previous releases on respected labels such as Hivern and Permanent Vacation.... we are excited to present this three track 12 "Anya's Piano" - the first taste of the forthcoming debut LP from New Jackson - "From Night To Night". The title track is a slow building double bass led boogie house groover with saxophonist Terry Edwards (PJ Harvey/Gallon Drunk) adding more depth to its layered, rich melodic texture. The flipside features two non LP tracks - the ghostly rave sound of In My Room with the New Jackson signature sound of dusty boogie synths and vocoder of Leave Me Making closing out the 12 inch.

Nomine returns with Blind Man, his fifth 12' for Tempa. Its three tracks offer his sparsest yet most atmospheric and immersive music to date, taking listeners and dance floors further still into the cryptic sound-worlds he's made his own throughout his releases to date.

What marks out Nomine's takes on dubstep and techno is his innate ability to use subtle sonic gestures to create a massive physical and emotional impact: in his hands, a brief flicker of struck hand drums or a fragmentary drift of melody can hit you as hard as a two-ton heavy blast of sub-bass pressure. 

That aesthetic underpins this EP's two lead tracks, 'Blind Man' and 'To The Sky', both of which carve out gigantic resonant spaces rich enough in detail to reach out and touch. The former's gently plucked strings and trickling water summon up a contradictory tangle of atmospheres, with meditative warmth mingling with inescapable creeping anxiety, all underpinned by seething sub-bass.

'To The Sky' is a beautiful, vast abyss of a track: Iustina's vocals drift through space amid reedy drones and environmental sound, conjuring up an unlikely nexus point between British electronic dark masters Coil and the rugged sound system intensity of Digital Mystikz. Finally, Nomine ratchets up the club energy for closer 'Nomine's Robot', a sleek, broken techno slow-burner built around an entire echo chamber's worth of reverberating drums - hypnotic dancefloor manna for the very early hours.

Simon Weiss is taking over fast and smooth. His track 'Amsterdam Wave' on Rush Hour's Amsterdam All-Stars compilation last year was a brief introduction.
His Rush Hour follow up, a full 12" titled 'Wave Ep' has just hit the shelves and is getting great feedback. Now Simon Weiss readies for a three out of three with a brand new 10".
Drawing inspiration from the famous 1920's silent film Metropolis. Simon Weiss, together with a photographer and a graphic designer, set out to bring their view on this dystopial setting. Bringing the three different art forms together will produce a final result that is impressive in every sense of the word. By focussing on being independent and self-sufficient Simon Weiss and his companions created utmost honest work.
Whilst the inspiration might be dark and sad, the music doesn't follow this same pattern throughout each of the four tracks in the package. A sparkle of hope is felt whilst listening to the intro; a longing vocal sample accompanied by a suiting drum pattern. Moving on 'Tomorrow' brings out more of this same emotion. It's smooth, sexy at times. Building suspense o so slowly. The crafty 'Worromot' really packs the punch. A drum heavy, oldschool sounding track, that evolves slowly into a dancefloor bomb. The outro gives you the feeling that there are good things to come. And to be honest, with this Amsterdam talent in our midst, we are quite sure there are so many good things to come!

'AUS Music ready a double vinyl remix package from Cassy's debut album,'Donna' which came out in June 2016. With 'Donna' we hear a more personal side of Cassy. Co-produced by her soul brother' King Britt, Cassy reconnects with her vocal talentwriting lyrics and singing on all tracks but one, making the album an intimate journey from the soul. Cassy has en-listed some of her most respected peers, all of whom have put their own stamp on the original tracks. This makes the remix package the perfect contrast to the album, and also proves that Cassy's original music has the seal of approval from some of the finest house and techno heavyweights on the circuit today. Marcel Dettmann adds an endearing edge to move 'Move', whilst Ron Bacardi picks up an undeniable pace on 'All I do'. 'Feel' is taken on a cosmic journey with Onsulade's Yoruba, and Radio Slave gives 'Keep Trying' the remix treatment twice. Finally 'Keep Trying' is reworked on by friend & collaborator, D'Julz, Julz takes takes things down a subtle, dubbier route with his edit, keeping Cassy's vocals a staple throughout'

It's no secret that Idle Hands is a label built on a foundation of dub. From the earliest releases by Pev, Kowton and Szare through to more recent output from O$VMV$M and Christian Jay, the influence of Bristol's soundsystem heritage looms large in the myriad electronic music threads the label encompasses. Sometimes this influence is explicit, other times implied, but the principles of sub heavy, spacious music for both body and mind guide the stylistic arc of the label as a direct result of the label's long time immersion in roots and dub culture.

Andy Mac is an artist who echoes this spirit more acutely than most. His innate understanding of dub comes from a life spent collecting and playing the music, both as part of the Falling Up collective and as a DJ on his own terms. This influence has been felt in his previous productions, not least on theRegular & Irregulardoublepack he released on Idle Hands back in 2013.

Now Andy makes a welcome return to Idle to kick off a new series under the banner ofDiving Bird. So named after the avian population off the coast of his native Cornwall, these new productions are the result of a fertile creative period since taking some time out from the low end thrum of Bristol life. With sound sources including field recordings from multiple trips to West Africa, the series is the most pronounced distillation of his pure-hearted passion for dub, making a natural progression from the more mechanical angles of his previous work to fall into an pulse that refigures the pioneering work of Tubby, Perry et al in a modern context.

The meditative lilt of "Longships" sports whispers of Basic Channel in its strafing chord stabs, but there's a more organic, roots-minded finish to the percussion that stands distinct from contemporary dub techno. "HorseFlyDub" places steppers energy alongside haunting atmospherics, coming on both sprightly and introspective in the same beat. "10" pushes out into more experimental realms, weaving fragments of weather systems and folk musicians into a dreamlike beatless reverie that aligns with the recent forays into ambient music that Idle Hands has undertaken.

Striking a balance between distinct personality and deeply rooted authenticity, the first volume ofDiving Bird marks another bold step forward for Andy Mac, an artist who shifts his stance with each release and makes it sound completely natural.

It is mmmm, it is aaaaaah, it is roar-roar!, it is boombittyboom, it is yess-yess-yess-right-there, it is what!, it is looong-so-looong-not-long-enough, it is oh-oh-coming-please-don't stop!, it is seriously, it is intergalactic, it is yawp-yawp!, it is pandemonium, it is never-been-heard-like-this-before: Superpitcher.

Musically and emotionally, Superpitcher's third full-length studio album, The Golden Rave Days is a one sound autobiography that exhibits the skill, feeling and depth of style that the artist has honed over a period of twenty years, musically, and forty-plus-years, emotionally. And full-length it is: The Golden Rave Days is an epic album of 24 tracks that release wise, will stretch over 12 respective chapter albums during a one-year period by record label, HippieDance.

For The Golden Rave Days, Superpitcher employed everthing and everybody he is moved by in service of creating a consistently melancholy, gentle, but also complex, strong and fiery mood. By allowing the sound to take its own free course, Superpitcher discovered a new macrocosmos of noise that he captured in longer than usual tracks that respectively not only tell a story but is a memoir in itself.

Paging through this body of sound one discovers a place that is haunting, adventurous, playful, velvety and sometimes essentially surreal. It is similar in experience than diving into an unknown river, serenely floating by visions that consist of a jazzy quality, hitting white waters that drum forth memories and primal poetry all the way from Africa to forests long forgotten, to cascading down waterfalls of unexpected protest, menace and resistance.

The sound of the first two tracks that kick off The Golden Ravedays saga, is good testament of the alchemy that is contained in the coming chapters. Like the metaphysical theory that every moment that exists only exists by virtue of all the moments that existed before its turn, Little Raver is a sweetly innocent but also heartbreakingly raw introduction to the lucky-packet of wit, depth, melancholy, confusion and cliffhanger surprise of the subsequent albums in The Golden Ravedays horoscope. On the B side, Snow Blind brings forth the clarity of sincere determination in an open sound expanse where clusters of melodies sometimes hide, sometimes shoot off and mercilessly stay out of reach and become unmaskable. A game that is often cleverly played by Superpitcher in the remaining phases of The Golden Ravedays album.

Yet again the leafs are turning neon golden, reminding us of the change of seasons lying at the edge of our doorstep. The first cold breezes and the fading warmth of the sun, which we just took for granted so easily, sketch the outline of that mild and soothing melancholia resting in autumn's palms. A mood we can very well enjoy to bury in deeply and with Luise's newest release listen to closely. »MENTIS EXCESSUS« is a tenderly crafted tale, a musical journey that paints broad images of false memories and blurry resemblances. Like a Déjà-vu that lasts too long to put aside, it crawls up your neck to give you that eerie feeling of curiosity with which you look at the uncanny world that suddenly surrounds you.

We are very pleased to welcome »WIDE AWAKE« as the most recent addition to Luises's sheltered, little family, a project that has its foundations at the talented hands and hearts of »Niju«, »Ninze« & »Okaxy«. These three banded together for greater good to provide nothing less, but their as well as Laut & Luise's first album.

House Is OK, but Oli, Janis and Homeboy never said they were exclusively a house label. Introducing House Of Life and DGF to the world, they make a slight change in direction. This split 7 single leaves the world of 4/4 interpretations and takes the imprint to the land of creep hop' and trip pop". House Of Life is a project of Chaveli Sifre Riestra & Nikias Chryssos. They make songs about men who dance with no pants, Jesus Christ, Satan, and darkroom murderers. Their lyrics are channeled through occult rites, internet forums, computer codes, and therapy sessions. Hans With No Pants' tells the story of a guy who likes to party with kids, eat cake and serve cool drinks. He lives in a house by the beach and invites guests to dance with him, but what goes on in his basement remains an unspoken mystery. On the flip, a number from DGF, a project of Nikias & label honcho Janis. Greif Meine Hand' was originally written for the original soundtrack of Nikas' short film The Grandfather". After it got to the 2nd place on the Intergalactic FM demo competition and got props by the likes of I-f, Rude66 and DJ TLR, we decided to give it a second chance by putting it on this lush 45.

Schaltkreis Wassermann is one of the pioneering electronic groups of the early eighties. Their album PSYCHOTRON of 1982 has become a much sought after cult object.Now In Flagranti have remixed released and unreleased material by Schaltkreis Wassermann from the early 80ies.
