For its eagerly awaited 11th release, Unclear Records present Giulio Etiope feat. Giak & Hester. The Riverside EP sees the Klang Club residents deliver 3 super stylish tracks backed by a manic remix by Gerry Read, a mind blowing musical experience that stands out once more as a true masterpiece on the label's catalogue. Title track 'Riverside''s classy piano chords and kaleidoscopic mood bring up colourful visions, while the Gerry Read remix's staccato groove and improvisational stop & go swings are purely Jazz inspired, surrounded by free flowing sounds and a pounding speedy beat. SUPERMOLL is back with its first solo-artist 12" release after two very hot and versatile various artist discs. The dada-techno and porn-performance ninja JEANDADO throws in three fantastically crafted tracks that demonstrate his very dark sides.

The release opens with DAVID UND SOPHIE, an utterly melancholic and hopeful love anthem spiced with a healthy dose of grunge. Following up comes GNAZ who lives in a deep and gloomy house cave and eats female filter vocals for breakfast.

Eventually we end up in the cave's basement, where GRWZ happily opens up the screaming doors to abyss. How sinister can dance music go before becoming the film score of your personal thriller Only LUDWIG ZIBELL can save us from eternal pain with his kraut-italo blessed remix, closing this spectacular release.

SUPERMOLL 02The second vinyl release of the young electronic label SUPERMOLL from Cologne. Rooted somewhere between a Sound of Cologne legacy, german experimental Kraut attitudes and dirty acid vibes from oversea.

JEANDADO opens with his cinematic bone-breaker ERNST NICHTIG that introduces the listener to the foggy swamps of a sonic underground. LUDWIG ZIBELL continues with his track DER MASTERPLAN that was named after the urban development scheme that will be rolled out in Cologne in the coming years and which will remove many of the city's underground culture and music spaces. As a reference to this the cover photography shows the Ebertplatz in Cologne, a half overground half underground public space that has been taken over by grass roots art galleries after the architectural plan had failed.

The B side starts with DIOM's track HARDON who continues his investigations into psychedelic and red glowing acid soundscapes. After the acid storm had its climax the track decents into a David Lynch style velvet pad. The release is closed by MARC LANSLEY's LAST MINUTE MAN. Andy Toth (Pubah, People Mover) an in-demand engineer in the D, drops an unabashedly epic piece of outer space acid techno psychedelia. Trent (VMax) adds a swinging acid track in a classic Armando vein.

It is commonly known how acousmatic sounds (sound without visual reference) can draw an image within a persons mind. A widely used tool in modern cinema and admired by horror film makers.

However, I have to admit this piece of music achieved to create an entire timeline in my mind from the first listen. A narrative sequence of one of the greatest ships ever build and it's long bearded, courageous captain, searching for the nothingness on the great dark and foggy seas.

I am truly fascinated in which depth the conversation between the endless seeming sea and the undoubtable solid character of the captain is audibly represented within this track. A synth of great courage facing mystic sounding punchy waves, telling the ship not to go further. Wisely handled reverberation creates the acoustic dimensions of the sea, which seem to dissolve within the eyes of the captain. A driving synth nicely reassembles the howling engine of the ship and even the chugging chimneys can be recognised. - A tale that could not have been better told.


I'm looking forward to hear this piece being played by the few more known artists within the clubs around the globe, as this would only complete the journey of the captain and it's ship.

Es ist allgemein bekannt das acousmatic Sounds (Geräusche ohne visuelle Referenz) meist den Zuhörer veranlassen eine visuelle Repräsentation selbst zu creirren. Ein weitverbreitetes Tool im modernen Kino und verehrt durch Horror Filmemacher.


Jedoch, muss ich zugeben dass dieses Musikstück es erreichte eine ganze Zeitleiste in meinem Verstand zu kreirren. Eine Erzählung von einem der größten Schiffe, welches je gebaut wurde und dessen lang bärtigen, mutigen Kapitän, auf der Suche nach dem Nichts auf der großen dunklen und nebligen See.


Ich bin wirklich fasziniert, in welcher Tiefe das Gespräch zwischen dem endlosen Meer und dem scheinbar zweifelslosem Charakter des Kapitäns hörbar ist in diesem Track.
Ein Synthesizer von großem Mut stellt sich gegen mystische Wellen und signalisiert dem Schiff nicht weiter zu gehen. Bedacht gehandhabte Reverbs erzeugen die akustischen Dimensionen des Meeres, die in den Augen des Kapitäns aufzulösen scheinen. Ein treibender Synth reassembliert den heulenden Motor des Schiffes und auch die puffenden Schornsteine sind zu hören. - Eine Geschichte, die nicht besser erzählt sein könnte.


Ich freue mich darauf, die wenigen sehr bekannten Namen der Clubkultur dieses Stück spielen zu sehen in den Clubs dieser Welt, da es die reise des Kapitäns nur folgenden würde.

Returning to HAKT after his 2013 single N1, Cale Parks continues to chart a compelling new path with the Lagoon Fool EP, his second foray into solo production. As the current drummer for Yeasayer and a prolific collaborator both in studio and live, Cale's creativity knows no genre. The five tracks on offer sneak from the beaten path, complicating signifiers of style, gently tweaking the standard grammar of club music, and remaining accessible all the while.
Assembled in his Brooklyn studio, but sonically sourced from his grandparents' Tennessee farm, Lagoon Fool carries that sublime, somehow inviting ethos of the Appalachian range. Airy and tectonic at once, impeccably detailed, yet easily taken as a whole, it's a rich, deceptively layered listen. As a skilled songwriter and a produce quickly proving his caliber, Cale has composed a suite that demands multiple listens and a place at peaktime just the same.
The EP begins on 'Appalachia,' with delayed dreamlike chords syncopating over slow breathing pads. While it's easy to lull low into the track's deep, cradling groove, keep your head up to catch the dynamism of the mix: like a cinematographer pulling focus over the broad mountains themselves. Next, 'Big Hills' sounds like the thrill of reaching summit, with muscular bass weighing in opposition to a driving melody like lactic acid in the legs. 'Jade' demonstrates Cale's rhythmic intelligence with an unorthodox, yet tranquil drum part that carries a starry chord progression up into the stratosphere of soul. Closing things out, the title track bumps at a languid, triumphant pace with guitar chords, warbling synths, and elastic bass whirling into an anthemic progression. As a bonus, the aforementioned gets an insightful remix by Australian producer Bell Towers of Public Possesion fame, who adds some sparkle and funk while gently upping the tempo. It's a set to be reckoned with — Cale's next move is anyone's guess.

Time is running...and it seems like we just woke up out of our interstellar sleep-mode as we are facing the arrival of the 14th edition of the almighty COCOON RECORDINGS COMPILATION. Starting with the letter 'A' we reached 'N' meanwhile which probably marks one of the longest running techno-compilation-series ever around. The list of the featured artists is amazing and almost endless. Big names like Funk D'Void, Alter Ego, Michael Mayer, Steve Bug, DJ Rush, Adam Port, Christian Smith, Nina Kravitz, Henrik Schwarz or Argy can be found here. Not to forget some of the biggest players in the circus like Sven Väth, Anthony Rother, Extrawelt, Timo Mass, Radio Slave or Ricardo Villalobos, DJ Koze, Dubfire and even Berlin's Basic Channel mastermind Moritz Von Oswald! With the new 'Compilation N' we will add even more big names side by side to some fresh and promising ones. Let's start with Konstantin Sibold & Leif Müller who gave us 'Kolibri", a great slowed down techno-tune that brings us back to the high days of Alter Ego when Harthouse released big listening and electronica albums. Track number two by Julian Perez follows that feeling and explores the deep and dubby sides of techno, too. A perfect transition to Frankfurt homeboy Markus Fix. Soul Imago is finally back! After three successful releases as the Soul Imago Sampler, Lay-Far´s Detour Ep and the 15-tracks-compilation there has been a pause.
Now the label's bosses Pablo Valentino and Blunted Monkz are back and present a fantastic 4-tracker on vinyl.
Soul Imago offers a perfect combination of tracks. Firstly, there is Soulphiction´s Swing Low : Minimalistic, crazy and perfectly animating - this record is a tight combination of its elements and offers loads of fun.
Secondly, Pablo Valentino's Looking for changes' Remix is deep and dirty from the beginning. The track takes on the EP's atmosphere and is full of emotions due to the dope vocal samples.
Then, we immediately have Noa Siano´s Rhodesy'. Everybody likes to dance to this track on the B side which constitutes the vinyl's dynamic highlight. Last but not least, the talents Duktus and Blunted Monkz worked together.
Their Tokyo Hotel' is kind of a mixture of jungle and big city and tells a story. Among other things, it's a story of people making music that has not existed before. The rest of the story happens while listening.

Late Night Running is a Rotterdam-based multidisciplinary initiative that is created out of sympathy for those who are willing to run hard for their beliefs. When one is sucked through the barriers of time, where days become nights and vice versa, we like to speak of ''Late Night Running''. The first physical effort out of the LNR camp comes in the form of a nicely designed 12'' by the likes of 25 places. This duo has it's roots in the working class city of Rotterdam, but also lived elsewhere for some time, working long nights in the advert industry. They've been based in Berlin for several months in 2012, where the X9 ideas were first created.
Those who are familiar with the city of Berlin will realize that both tracks are in reference to certain bus and metro-lines of the city. In 2014 these well produced tracks will finally see the light of day on a special handstamped 12'' with a diptych silkscreened limited sleeve. It wouldn't be Late Night Running if we hadn't bring in two of the most respected hard working acts in electronic music on remix duties. USA based and well respected ''Aakmael'' delivers an excellent journey of deepness which leans on the use of analog gear and mesmerizing synthlines. ''Innerspace Halflife'' came up with a progressive piece which evokes obstinate feelings that will remind you of concrete buildings and otherworldly enviroments. For the digital release Rotterdam based ''Gitchell Moore'' tops off this special first effort with an intergalactic synth voyage.
