Jonathan Moore, the man behind Leftside Wobble not only shares a name with the legendary Coldcut producer, but he's been involved with the underground music scene for almost as long.
Having started out at Paul Oakenfold's Project Club in the late 80's he went on to residencies at seminal house nights Solaris & Kinky Disco. The nineties & noughties saw him at the helm of a series of memorable club nights for Dazed & Confused magazine as well as regular appearances at the now sadly defunct Kings Cross establishments - The Cross, The Key & Canvas.


In recent years he's better known for his productions, edits and reworks he puts out under the Leftside Wobble banner - his rework of The Beatles 'Tomorrow Never Knows' was recently picked by Greg Wilson in his 'best ever' selection of edits/reworks. And his electric approach to music production has seen him commissioned for remix work for a diverse set artists including Bryan Ferry, The Temples, Detroit Swindle, Public Service Broadcasting, Ambient Jazz Ensemble and The Time & Space Machine.


x-cursions has been set up to celebrate the eclectic in dance music and specifically not be tied to any particular sub-genre. The first EP contains a classic Loleatta Holloway disco edit, an Ike & Tina Turner Balearic soul rework, and an electro funk track that harks back to the production style of Arthur Baker (already being supported by a diverse set of DJ's including Bill Brewster, Chris Coco, Kev Beadle and Justin Robertson). And the social media buzz is already cooking on these tracks, so far they've been favorited approx. 1500 times on Soundcloud and received approx. 20,000 combined plays.

Providing tools for a working DJ's night out in the wilderness, sending your intoxicateded mind back to the dance floor of a smoke filled dungeon where the music is too loud to talk about your favorite genre, what format you prefer to play or how much your record collection is worth. So all you can do is listen, dance and get lost in the sound.

IIB's latest release is an EP from The clandestino crew. First track is a slo mo cosmic melodic acid dub. A beautiful early evening trip. This is remixed by the Beat Broker who adds a few sublime uplifting west coast sprinkles. The first track on the B side is a solid disco tinged house beauty with synth stabs subtle acid undertones claps and a great sample. The final track is Beyond the Sun. A mellow eastern tinged sundowner featuring another great sample. This EP really captures the original IIB sound and philosophy. A real gem.

"Windsurf's Samuel Grawe has dropped some sublime if intermittent solo material under the Hatchback name over the years, gracing the excellent Lo Recordings with two albums as well as dropping a sublime 12" on the much missed THISISNOTANEXIT. Kudos goes to Watson and Ritesh Kumar's Adult Contemporary for coaxing this slab of Hatchback material out of Grawe with the 3 track Marin County 12" every bit as sumptuous as those aforementioned releases. Lead track "Paradise Drive" sets the tone and demonstrates Grawe's talent for arrangement with the languid piano tone perfectly complemented by the shuffling beat and rippling bed of warm textures that sit below. "Loma Alta" meanwhile sounds like New Beat gone Balearic whilst the soaring"Baker Beach" nudges up the tempo without any hint of sacrifice to the musicality."

The producer was Danilo Ciarchi. This band was a combo of several Italian radio DJs of Florence (Italy), 1984. All of them were working for a local pirate radio called Radio Fantasy. It is an excellent record!

Copenhagen's Music For Dreams are on a roll right now with a wave of top-quality new vinyl releases and this latest EP is no exception. Bar owner, producer, Balearic DJ and sublime record collector Peter Visti returns to the label with his vision for the open-minded dance floor - 'Wanna Dance'. The Dane is pushing all the right buttons here and this is possibly his best offering so far - drumming balearic madness, funky keys and the relentless 'Wanna Dance' hook make it a peak time killer of a track. The Kenneth Bager Experience's 'Creative Impulse' (recorded in Ibiza) delivers a Mr Fingers-inspired Calypso groove full of summer feel, beautiful strings,  prominent hats, warm lush keys and cosmic almost psychedelic moogs - essential sunset material!
'Cotton Club' (edited by KBE) is flute player, programmer, producer,  local Ibicenco and all round Mr Nice Guy Ingo Zen's debut on Music For Dreams - twittering percussion, rolling baseline, swirling synths, haunting keys, a live recorded flute solo - you can smell the sunshine. Danish guitar virtuoso Jacob Gurevitsch has a love for Buenos Aires, Ennio Morricone and Italian soundtracks and has Grace Jones on his resume. His gorgeous 'Lovers In Paris'(The Tonovi Remix) combines smooth bass and sensitive guitar playing with electronics over a sharp house groove.

Unfettered Balearic pop from We Are Destino on the always excellent Adult Contemporary label, previously responsible for some real vinyl shaped gems from Dorado, Lord Of The Isles and The Beat Broker. The original rendition of "Mind Force" is silky and sun kissed and will easily melt the hear of even the most ardent disco grump; rich synth waves, lapping and flowing with major chord surges, are carried by chugging dubbed out beats and coated by the stunning harmonies of D'ete Blackshire. Throw in some dazzling key work and two script-flipping remixes from Brennan Green (one pumping, later night affair, one super-laid back and sedate) and you have yourself something very, very special.

A very popular piece at the time and fortunately returned in vogue today thanks to many followers, DJs and lovers to the great "Balearic" family. The music of Tony Esposito is inspired by sounds from many countries around the world, mixing tribal rhythms with Neapolitan melodies, well represented by the track "Je -na", where the wide range of styles is manifested in its hypnotic sounds and rhythm in his percussion. The two tracks were born in 1983 after a trip to Jamaica and were composed together with Pino Daniele. The style and sound of these two pieces reflects the influence of Bob Marley and his group, with whom Tony Esposito has worked both in Italy and in Kingston Town, Jamaica .

Like many of the greatest Italo-disco records, Tony Esposito's 1983 double A-side "Je-Na'"/"Pagaia" is ridiculously rare. Put it this way: if you fancy nabbing yourself an original copy, it will make a serious dent in your wallet. This welcome reissue presents both tracks in their original 12" glory, mixed with clubs in mind by Mariano Boncaldo of Klein & M.B.O fame. It's the A-side that's arguably the pick of the pair, featuring as it does a Balearic-friendly blend of dense, bongo-laden rhythms, tribal chants and delay-heavy guitars. There's a bit more of a hazy disco bounce to "Pagaia", which sounds a little like a long lost Tullio de Piscopo record - all jazz-fusion scat singing, sunny horns and shuffling rhythms.

CAPSULE LABS MUSIC GROUP's debut release is a 4 track house EP from label boss GIL T (OM, DROP MUSIC, DEEPER SHADES). Taking off with the lush sounds of “FLIGHT 107”, a smooth synth journey, nicely descends to “GET DOWN LOW”. The Afro Cuban house beat sets a nice groove for the live jazzy vibraphone stabs of this classy track. The B side is a real bonus. “THE PRIVATE DRIVER” really cruises and lastly, “NOT SO LOW” is a chunky finisher remix of the title track, all done in house. B Side comes from Maciek Sienkiewicz, one of the finest purveyors of Balearic grooves in Poland.
Two tracks served here wouldn't sound out of place in Alfredo's set. - Song For Mohindar' is the lead track, with its ethereal new-age atmospherics and exotic instrumentation. - Syntetyczna Kobieta Lux' is an electronic burner that you may (or may not) know from last year's TVPC Beats In Space show.

"NIGHT FEVER" is the second release from VISITORS and picks up where its predecessor "LEDGER" left off. Cyber Dance Records return with a full-length double-vinyl album from Manchester's Kid Machine (aka Mark Wilkinson) following a string of instantly sold-out EPs for Viewlexx, Red Laser and Flight Recorder. A long-time collaborator of world-famous Italo Disco DJ Flemming Dalum, it's no surprise that many of the tracks have that hallmark space sound reminiscent of the likes of Cyber People and Koto, but Mark stamps his own distinct identity on the genre by slowing down the BPM's and incorporating many other influences throughout so that this is no retro affair but a distinctly fresh and modern take on the genre. No mere collection of dance tracks, this is a proper album in the truest sense of the word. From the dark and powerful strains of the opening 'This Is My Universe' to the rousing emotional closing track 'Golden Triangle' Mark takes us on an epic synthesised journey that is as comfortable on the home stereo or night-drives in the car as it is on the dancefloor. Effortlessly incorporating elements and themes ranging from the cosmic ('Forever In The Stars', 'Leaving Space', 'Astromance', 'Starbreaker', 'Galaxia') to the militant ('We Are At War') to subconscious fear ('Nightmares'), everything flows with an ease far beyond the short time that he's been releasing music so far and revealing why his rise has been such a lightning phenomenon.

Cyber Dance Records are back on the attack with a fresh release from the legendary Perseus Traxx aka Nigel Rogers, a 4-track EP entitled after recent scientific developments 'An Apparent Horizon'. It's a firmly machine-based and totally jam-packed affair reflecting diverse sounds from the UK's own rich history of electronic dance music, with elements from the classic Warp "deep space sound" prominent as much as the more usual 303-jacking acid house grooves in the vein of Baby Ford or Bam Bam. 'Lost Dreams' opens the record with a floaty dream-like hipnosis from the depths of space and sets the tone in magnificent style, followed up on Side A with the irresistible roll of 'Reverse The Trend' that takes the groove harder, further and deeperstraight off to the beyond. Dark strings reminiscent of old LFO, B-12 or Autechre vinyls from the early 90s propel us into Side B on 'Darkness Stalks', and then we're transported onto the concluding track on the EP, 'Distances'; an epic closer that opens with beautiful reverbed claps and acid squelches before diving into an inky black void of timeless space-travelling and slow-building tension that could surely echo hauntingly around any M25 rave in the depths of a late 1980s night.

Session Victim can do no wrong in our eyes. Not only do they run an absolutely brilliant vinyl-only label known as Retreat with the help of fellow Berliner Quarion. Not only do they play an amazing live set which has seen recent fans at London's Corsica Studios get so worked up they started crowd-surfing. Not only were they responsible for last years' underground hit Good Intentions which is so good it had Move D in tears as he closed a festival set with it last summer. On top of all this they're the nicest and most focused couple of chaps you ever did meet. In short, we're very proud and happy to be presenting their debut LP The Haunted House Of House on our humble label. As with our last LP from the mighty 6th Borough Project, we have made the LP available as both a beautifully packaged triple pack vinyl as well as CD.

Opening track Dark Sienna sets the mood and serves as a good taster of what you can expect from their highly accomplished debut. We're talking looped up deep-disco territory here with a lovely mid-tempo rolling groove driven along by open hats and a square wave bassline, lush string sections and dubbed vocal hits all adding heat to the mix.

Zoinks continues the theme with the perfect balance of organic drums, dusty stabs and a healthy dose of solid gold machine-funk. Push Comes To Shove follows, upping the pace slightly and resulting in one of the more obvious floor friendly cuts (or should i say as obvious as it gets with Session Victim!).

Next up is the more laid back yet still seriously head-nodding vibe of Alpine Glow on which the SV boys even manage to make a cut-up Mark King-esque slap bass sample sound good! Haunted House dives straight in next with an uptempo jam featuring a heavy disco groove and compressed pads laced with subtle arpeggiating acid lines. Some Balearic vibes are offered up next as things continue with Cow Palace and Bison until we're hit with a special new LP version of Good Intentions, the original having been only available on vinyl so far.

Time to shake things up a bit next with a definite highlight of the LP - Light Scent of Decay. As the acronym of the title suggests we are heading straight into psychedelic territory with this beautiful 9 minute and 40 second long live jam drawing us deep into its pleasantly off-kilter confines. Next the boys drop it down a bit for Fine, which sees the duo opt for some headnodding hip hop vibes. And finally we have the spellbinding Flying Visit to leave us on a total high.

Antilope's and Death On The Balcony's edits both are based around originals that were released in 1978 - stretched and sped up for the club. Matpat, on the other hand, selected a drum and piano loop from a Maxi Version of one of the first disco-rap records from 1980.

When the original of this club edit was released in 1978, it was already an edit, as it used poetry recordings of the band's singer who was by then dead for 7 years. With the overdubbing of music to pre-existing poetry recital tapes by the surviving band members, it marks the beginning of the creation of something new for the band. Right in this spirit, Antilope has created a club version that stays true to the original but makes it suitable for after-hours and late night venues.

Death On The Balcony's edit is all about the groove. Think Paul Humphrey, Ed Greene, Earl Palmer and the god-father of that 16th-note groove James Gadson. Death On The Balcony replayed some parts & added a more modern bass to mirror, compliment existing parts in the original track used. The hook of the vocal was made as an art of the verse of the beginning.

Matpat used a Piano-loop from one of the first disco rap records ever made and transformed it into a jackin house swinger. No more words needed, just enjoy it.

About ANTILOPE
A film buff from an early age, Balthazar Pinto, aka Antilope, cites cinematography as the main inspiration for the songs he creates (as one could hear on his Exploited debut ‚Body Trouble'). His discovery of electronic music occurred in the early 90's, and he quickly fell in love with the scene and decided to become a part of it. Despite beginning to produce in 2000, he has only used the Antilope moniker for the past three years. With this project, he aims to "create music that breathes like a soundtrack, but in a more edgy, club kind of way.' (Earmilk)

Leeds-born duo Death On The Balcony's distinctive brand of emotive house music has steadily grown to become one of the genre's most sought-after sounds. From edits for Soul Clap's free download series to releases on All I Day I Dream, SUOL, Pets Records, Culprit and Silver Network, they have graced many of underground house's most acclaimed labels and this is their first mark on Exploited.
About MATPAT
At a young age, Matthew Patrick Dodd was introduced to an eclectic mix of music from his family that would later be inspiration for his own burgeoning take on Electronic Music. By seven, his brother had him standing on milk crates so he could reach his first set of tables and by thirteen, he had already started playing classic records like Kraftwerk's "Tour De France" and Hard Drive's "Deep Inside." Matpat's sound is influenced by the producers that came before him. Detroit Techno, Chicago House and Disco from Philadelphia & New York (as well as his own productions) fill his DJ sets and have begun to distinguished him as a House Music Maven. His "Crush" EP was picked up by Terry Farley, the man behind Junior Boys Own. Mat's release on Stretch Armstrong's New York Dance Label, Plant Music received a 4/5 on Resident Advisor. Then he signed to Derrick Carter's label Persnickety for "The Chicago-Philly Combo" (which reached the Juno Records Top 5 Singles Chart). All this helped solidify Matpat as a house music DJ and Producer with a promising future. By the end of 2013, he released his track "Feel Your Body" on Samo Sound Boy & Jerome LOL's label Body High, as well as throwing invite-only parties at his loft in the "Eraserhood" area of Philadelphia. Now this is his second contribution to Exploited's Disco edit label Black Jukebox.

Sarcastic and obscure neo-italo-wave band Cristalli Liquidi once again steps into limelight with a third single on the equally mysterious Artifact imprint. Incubo Assoluto (which is Italian for "absolute nightmare" or so we are told) comes in a thick, pulsating synth mix as well as in a more straight and spread out version with just enough chugging guitar to mutate your dance moves from whirling disco dervish to robot rock. Lyrics are by Roberto "Freak" Antoni (known as frontman of 70s Italian punk band Skiantos who sadly passed away on february 12th this year). This is another ultra cool release on Bottin's Artifact label.

Quality reissue of Codek's highly sought-after first release from 1980. This hard-to-find 12' version features the incredible full length six minute version of 'Me, Me, Me' a funky slo-mo New Wave floorfiller that originally found favour with Baldelli, Loda etc. on Italy's early eighties Cosmic scene as well as the equally great instrumental 'Demo' version on the flip.

The KM Editions series, admirably helmed by the mysterious Keyboard Masher, has always been one of the more interesting re-edit/rework labels. Past installments have touched on krautrock, disco, Balearica, funk, Italo and what can only be described as electronic oddities. This sixth volume offers up three more impressively remixed, overdubbed and re-edited gems. There's naturally much to admire, not least the OMD style woozy synth-pop of "Stolen Shapes (Stealing Rework)", which should tickle the fancy of anyone of a Balearic disposition. The same can be said about the immersive, sun-kissed pianos and shuffling grooves of "Astral Playground". There's also a chunk of silly - but, perversely, rather good - French cod-reggae in the shape of "Le Cod", arguably our pick of a strong bunch.

Super hot limited vinyl reissue featuring two highly sought after 1981 Afro Boogie monsters by Nigerian songstress Oby Onyioha on the original Lagos based Time Records label. With production credited to Jake Sollo protegé Lemmy Jackson, both tracks here are stunning - 'Enjoy Your Life' is a proper funk bomb with heavy bass, gorgeous layered strings and a faultless vocal performance from Ms Onyioha while 'I Want To Feel Your Love' is an irresistible smooth sweet gem, with Oby's serene vocals light as a summer breeze over the top of a serious Afro boogie groove. Highly recommended!

The original gunslingers Phillip Lauer and Gerd Janson team up with their buddy Shan (his club hits "How you want it" and "Chord Memories" are still ringing in our ears) for two rough , but melodic power house cuts. The package is complete with an alternative version and the not to be missed Cole Rabies Beats for all the creative Djs. A Tuff City Kids delight.

A few years ago, A-Trak got together with the pioneering house/garage producer Armand Van Helden to form the playful dance duo Duck Sauce, and they quickly scored a vast international hit with 'Barbra Streisand.' Now, nearly four years after that song landed, they're finally ready to release Quack, their giddy and engaging debut album, which features singles like 'Radio Stereo,' 'It's You,' and, yes, 'Barbra Streisand.' The album is not a typical dance album but a whole lot of fun: Quack pushes the boundaries of house music and sampling into an absurdly visual listening experience, interwoven with skits, scratching and irresistible loops.

Ruff Records unearths a rare Australian (com)oddity... the self titled 'Flat Static' LP recorded in Reservoir, Melbourne in 1985... originally privately issued in miniscule quantity, Ruff gives this weirdo post-punk fossil its first proper edition. 'Australian' experimental sounds of the late 70s - 80s which defines labels such as Cleopatra, Innocent, M Squared, Larrikin and Jarra Hill Records etc... heard here in subtle funky form, with distinct stylistic shifts throughout coinciding with the groups acquisition/ experimentation with the TR-808 drum machine. Members include contemporary performance artist Brett Band, known locally for anti- institutional street performance. As well as early Australian computer pioneer Ant Wilshire. A rare treat from Australia's rich musical past, not to be missed...

The Sonic Aesthetic releases New Districts' on eponymous new label

After years of hiding behind multiple aliases and all too clever back stories, International Feel head honcho Mark Barrott finally slid back the curtain at the start of the 2013 to present his new moniker The Sonic Aesthetic, a blog and 12' ('Tales From The Nocturn').

This was no stunt or PR refresher; Barrott is a man who, both in music and life at large, sheds his skin whenever he feels it no longer reflects who is looking back at him in the mirror and with the announcement of new EP 'New Districts', comes the announcement of The Sonic Aesthetic label as an offshoot of International Feel.

The new EP continues the 'Tales From The Nocturn' mission to further the agenda of guerilla resistance and maverick thinking against what he calls 'the sausage waveforms' of overly compressed 21st century production & hermetically sealed life.

'New Districts' furthers that claim, consisting of three sultry cuts that move with an elegance and grace through mellow house and Balearic templates, the space between their components warm and immersive in spite of its dusky evocations.

Barrott's decision to go with the new label is partially reflected in his current approach to music making and releasing... 'For me right now it's all about the Ginsberg philosophy - First Idea / Best Idea'' he explains. 'It's about having an idea and executing it as quickly as possible to maintain the freshness. My studio setup / mindset now reflects that approach and I wanted a new release mechanism that reflects that too, hence the separate identity. I love the intricacy and detail of a wellpackaged International Feel release, but The Sonic Aesthetic is about a looser feel and a quicker route to my own musical consciousness.'

Barrott's new found freedom in music goes hand in hand with the impulsiveness with which he approaches his existence; growing up in Sheffield in the 80's, gorging on a diet of the Human League and Cabaret Voltaire, he eventually moved to Berlin at the beginning of the new millennium, before decamping again to Uruguay - where he set up International Feel, putting out records & remixes by DJ Harvey, Todd Terje, Joakim and Quiet Village among others - and latterly ending up in Ibiza. Something he calls his 'best life decision yet.' Bringing about a
rich vein of creativity - the next EP is already on the way apparently - Barrott enthuses 'I'm at my most calm when I'm sat writing music, so it's more than a little sensible to spend most of my waking hours doing just that ! I've finally got a great studio setup that balances the old and new and it's keeping it exciting for me - it allows for happy accidents I wouldn't find if I was writing methodically, or solely on a Laptop.'

Citing the joy of living in Ibiza, as well as listening to the likes of Steve Reich, material on Ghost Box Recordings, Pye Corner Audio and L.I.E.S as influences for this new EP, Barrott insists International Feel isn't done yet. However, for an artist whose been constantly re-inventing himself for almost three decades, The Sonic Aesthetic could just be his most alluring new skin yet.

"This EP is super special for me not only because i was able to introduce a new instrument to the world via vinyl (how cool is that) but it was made with friends, and with the intention to put more music into electronic dance music. The song "Take A Dip" was recorded with Signor Andreoni on the beach in Sardinia, magical moment- simplistic but to a feeling! the other songs were made with Jordy Lockruf, a man who not only possesses an immense natural talent for string instruments, but also makes them by hand himself! We have taken this record as an opportunity to showcase the Mulatar, this beautiful all wood instrument, which consists of a bass, harp and percussions on the back and sides. The sound of this instrument is soo distinct because of the way it slides. It is a slide instrument, with wax contact to wood. At this point there have been 16 of them made by hand, and the sound of this beautiful instrument continues to mesmerize every time we play her." Jay Haze
