Having been one of his biggest festival tunes in the summer of 2014, the Luxxury mix of Greg Wilson's Summer Came My Way - which originally surfaced on last year's Schooled In The Classics 12' - was put on the back burner throughout the winter in readiness for a full 2015 release. Juxtaposed by Walter Ego's equally sublime take on the track, the release marks the first of eight records to be issued over the summer months.
Sometimes composition is a long and arduous process, other times a song arrives fully formed. The latter was the case for Greg when he imagined Summer Came My Way as a vehicle for hitherto unknown vocal forces of nature, The Reynolds - twins Katherine and the song's lead singer Carmel - who, by beautiful serendipity happened to live within a mile of Greg's Merseyside home.
Bursting out of LA with a lavish twelve-part re-edit series last year, Luxxury's brand of hazy, slo-mo reworks - a West Coast Balaeric fusion - has catapulted him onto the world stage. Opening his mammoth eight-hour Berghain set in 2013 with Luxxury's Hotel California rework, Greg helped bring his Los Angeles vibes to wider attention, bolstered by his subsequent support of other reworks; Night Fever and Riders On The Storm.
A victim of his own success,Hotel Californiagained Luxxury a little too much notoriety and, after a Wall Street Journal interview began circulating, Warner came down on him like a ton of bricks on finding out he'd used The Eagles' multitracks. All was resolved however and he's currently recording his forthcoming album, with great things expected for 2015 and beyond. The Luxxury approach perfectly fitted Greg's vision of the song and the result is a glorious nine-minute epic, just in time for the summer.
With releases on the legendary Ninja Tune, San Francisco's murky Symbols and Kerri Chandler's jackin' MadTech, Walter Ego's appeal stretches across the board; from forward thinking house to rough and ready grime. Having got to know the Sheffield musician during recent years, Greg was impressed by what he heard, especially an as yet unreleased project he was working on in collaboration with London singer, Obenewa. Inviting him to remix the track, Walter returned an ethereal yet mechanical take on Summer Came My Way, his delicately decaying synths and cold hydraulic rhythm giving the track a brooding quality and placing The Reynolds in an entirely new context.SW001 contains Walter Ego's remix of Summer Came My Way by Greg Wilson featuring the Reynolds, as well as a radio and full length version of Luxxury's remix. It's available digitally or on vinyl - individually on 12' or as part of a box set (vinyl limited to 500 copies in total).

Despite its Winter release, International Smark endured through to last Summer and became an underground anthem in the beach bars and under the stars. Discogs prices rose accordingly and it's still very much at the top of many 'wants lists'
'International Smark' (translation: International Taste) opens with an 8bit Techno tinged waltz before quickly floating into dreamy synth chords and staccato guitar licks.
Featuring an infectious cross dialect narrative (Swedish/Finish) provided by international songstress Tigerlight, the track comes across like a meeting between Metro Area and Abba - two acts PAYFONE cite as big inspirations.
'People' on the flip explores an Electro-Disco aesthetic bouncing along into the night with a heavily pitch affected vocal and angular bassline that drives an incessant groove.

Three artists - four tracks that can be worked by the versatile DJ in the day as well as in the night shift. First up is Thomalla with two tracks. The Berlin native rubs your back with sun lotion with 'Funfair' before throwing you in the water with 'Colossus". Then, London residents Casino Times hit you over the head with reality, which means in this case a dry acid rocket. Plus a rattling house refix by Benjamin Fröhlich for Lobster Theremin and Riot Van man Panthera Krause and his hit from last year 'If'. So put on your raving shoes while nibbling on your ice cream cone.

Peyton currently lives on the island of Ibiza where he is resident vocalist for Blue Marlin. Many of his songs have been dubbed as anthems and club classics. Peyton's worldwide reputation as a performer and writer has secured him the title of one of House music's most soulful and enduring superstars.

Part Two of the two vinyl samplers taken from DJ W!LD's barnstorming D!RTY album released on Cabin Fever this month. Featuring four of the choice licks from the album spread over two 12's. 'Remember' is a twisted slice of dark Chicago influenced underground house, whilst on the flip 'Dirty' is a sparse tech work out with some ominous vocals.. a great second part of these two samplers!!

Secret Life Music has teamed up with DJ/Producer Simon Mills for their next release on both vinyl and digital formats (SLM010). Best known for his work with wonky chill out act Bent, these days Simon produces solo material under the name Napoleon. Last year he fine-tuned the synth heavy Napoleon sound by setting himself the goal of self-releasing an E.P. every month.
Additionally he also crafted several well-received remixes including "I Have Nothing To Say" by Mads Bjorn and Rick Astley (that featured on the recent Café Mambo compilation album) and the excellent "Patience Gets Us Nowhere Fast" by Capital Cities.
If that isn't enough he's also been busy making records with International Feel artist Joel Hood the results of which will see an E.P. release this summer. All this combined with a return to DJ circuit means that this summer looks like being a busy one.

Russian-born dance avant-guardiste Philipp Gorbachev is in self-
exile - from Moscow to Berlin - due to his political views and his
purpose to join Cómeme in 2011. This collective of musicians and
artists, operating between Latin America and Europe, is known for a
killer instinct in producing forward thinking dance music beyond any
standards of contemporary music industry.

Focusing on serving dance music audiences all around the globe,
Philipp Gorbachev composes, produces and performs music in a
way that resembles the heritage axe of Russian avant-garde and
Moscow's Conceptualist movement rather than following any current
dance music tradition.

Based on a unique performing and recording technique - created
and tested together with his buddy Matias Aguayo in 'The District
Union' studio in Berlin - 'Silver Album' is a well-collected music
piece consisting of nine live performed arrangements, crafted with
insurgent Russian lyrics that are fable-like inventions, fairy tales that
deal with spiritual vibes, using the sound of the Russian language in
order to form a new alternative music.

Musicians like ex-Helmet-and-now-Battles drummer John Stanier, as
well as co-producers and mixing engineers like Butthole Surfer's
guitarist Paul Leary; Mexican Cómeme brother Daniel Maloso; or
Non Standard Productions head honcho and Ostgut Ton artist
Tobias Freund, have been welcomed by Philipp Gorbachev to take
part in the production of the record.

The first single of the Silver Album, called - Arrest Me' is a dedication
to the imprisoned people around the world, a journey starter towards
freedom of spirit, pioneering in never before expressed sounds,
timing and space control.

If you need an easier punchline: it simply is 'The First Russian
Dance Album'!

030303 strikes again with this quirky, ultra-fresh and hard to pinpoint 4-track twelve. Hills I Want You is a very rich harmonious collage of staccato rhythms, abstract vocal snippets, classic strings and piano house; twisted dance floor material. Zeroz-On, bangs it out in a static, stomping way where heavy, in your face synth sounds take turns in melody making with mid range Roland bass lines. The Broke, the first track on the flip is again manically melodic, this time in conjunction with brutally distorted beats. The EP closes with the chilled out In Sight Out which features a mix of jazzy and mind bending melodies, this time with a slightly more subdued rhythm section. We highly recommend this twelve for fans of full on melodic acid with a distant reference to the classic rave era.

Highlights, the band's first collection of new material since their critically-lauded debut, Mixed Emotions, in 2012, began in a basement in Pittsburgh and ended in a church in Brooklyn. It trades world music sounds for a more alive, realized approach, the result of Emm and Cohen knowing they wanted to break from their 'two guys, one screen' writing style.

Mancunian tape enthusiast Ruf Dug has been turning heads all over the world in the past few months with his own unique strain of 80s soul, dub and yacht boogie.
His remix flies first class from Oslo to the Tropics, adding a lilting rhythm and a heavy Roland snare to create a digital dub supreme. As the track blossoms, the tape delay is so warm you can almost smell what Ruffy's been smoking and it has much the same effect.

On the flip, "The Sun Also Rises" is a lush instrumental interlude from Cottee, channeling Byrdsian jangle, music box melody and swooning strings laced with the woozy psychedelia that producers Mason Neely & Carwyn Ellis (Colorama) have made their own.
Cottee's delicate guitar sits perfectly within the more esoteric instrumentation, packing a real emotional punch.

Miles Copeland of The Superimposers dons his Wonderful Sound moniker to close out the EP with a gorgeous coastal rework of "The Sun Also Rises" that's as fresh as sea air.
Miles adds a backbeat groove and his trademark sea organ to remould Nev's instrumental as a Balearic sea shanty that's as English as fish and chips.

Speed Painters are a unique collective of musicians who improvise simmering, slow-burning house music, built from a foundation of techno, disco and experimental/found sound.

Over the past few years, the group (Nick Huggins, Oscar O'Bryan, Jon Tjhia and Tig Huggins) have bewitched dancefloors in the rainy backyards, band rooms and basement clubs of their hometown of Melbourne, building a cult underground following. Bellarine, their debut release, is the fruit of a two-week summer recording session in the quiet coastal town of Point Lonsdale.

Taped in the shadow of ocean freighters, surf waves and coastal scrub, Bellarine arose from improvisations between Speed Painters' four members - delivering three songs that curve from minimal techno and balearic surf jams to grubby, visceral rhythm tracks.

Following the huge success of DLM 004 and the massive appeal of Roman Flugel's remix of IDLE EYES (as charted by all from Dixon to Michael Mayer, Dan Avery to Maceo Plex), here's a little surprise from our camp.

GLOCK'D is C.A.R's trademark washed out sarcasm, bleached cynicism, the track forages paths through Chloe's dark mind. It was one of the first tracks she wrote on her own, and was recorded down the bunker with Timothy J Fairplay. A favourite of Andrew Weatherall (who nominated MY FRIEND, the C.A.R album, as "one of the best releases of 2014), it's now coming full-circle, being given a stomping shuffle air guitar dance-floor rework by The Asphodells ... if you liked Our Lord Sabre's remix of FUCK BUTTON's this is for you. Real name Kornél Kovács - returns to his and HNNY's Puss label with stupid fresh edits of three songs from the year he was born. As always with Puss, each record arrives with a real human kiss mark.

Two pieces of snarling filter house from NYC heavyweights Robbie Busch aka DJ McBoing Boing - record dealer to the stars, digger extraordinaire, & DJ of sweaty underground parties around the world, and Josh Dunn - one part of the sorely missed 100 limousines, and one third of the holy trinity that put on New York's legendary Foreal People party.

For two guys so deeply immersed in the rich history of urban dance music, from the Blues & Gospel through deep Disco, Soul, Chicago and Detroit sounds, you could be forgiven for expecting to hear a rich homage to the sounds of the past.
Instead we get the future ghost of Ron Hardy playing the record backwards on a janky turntable with a quarter for a counterweight and fucking shit up in every conceivable way.

These two are chiefly concerned with moving things forward, having some fun, and taking no prisoners along the way.

If you've heard any Ste Spandex productions you'll know what to expect !This EP is a fascinating collision of diverse dance music aesthetics & bristles with energy and passion.
As usual all the tracks are live takes with various hardware working overtime from Ste's orchestration.
Side 1 features two tracks with long time collaborator Sarah Bates.Soaking Wet is a peak time workout with tightly sprung drums, whirling effects & Sarah's vocals weaved enticingly throughout the track. Next is Breakin' My Heart, an addictive bubbler melding house and boogie feelings with the vocals more centre stage. Side 2 kicks off with Gotta Move, an 80'sesque grinder. A1. HOLY DISCO DAYS (ORIGINAL MIX)
This house-disco hybrid is floating on a layer of warm synth pads. It is framed by a seducing female vocal
demanding to "give me a good reason" and directly hits the groove button with a swinging beat and a
massive bassline that kicks in after the first break and makes your stomach vibrate.
To sum it up there are definitely more than one good reason to fall in love with this one.


A2. HOLY DISCO DAYS (MIGUEL PUENTE REMIX)
We're still over the moon for winning MIGUEL PUENTE (No.19 / Hot Waves) to do the remix. His take is more
a reduced version with less vocals and full attention on the groove. This massive slammer has an amazing
build up with sharp off hi-hats, a whipping beat and a bold old-school electro bassline that jacks the body
and makes you want to dance the boogie all night long.


B1. THE CLOU (ORIGINAL MIX)
Attention: this is not your average four to the floor filler! From the first go this gripping and unconventionally
structured track sends you over the edge with a hypnotic acid-bassline drilling itself deeper and deeper
into your brain. Its produced almost entirely with the Prophet synthesizer, proving how much interesting
work can be done by only using a limited set of resources. The female vocal on this track insinuate that
"Boy, you don't have a clou". But for ART IN MOTION the contrary can be said: heres a man with a master plan.


B2. THE CLOU (NHAN SOLO REMIX)
It was high time for our homegrown, wonderboy NHAN SOLO (2DIY4/ OFF) to do a remix for our label.
His remix convinces through a clever interaction of the vocals, bassline and lead melody - combining
them to an almost choir like arrangement with every element swinging coherently in the right place.
He delivers an absolute bomb of a club track where the parts from the original are pumping even more.
Bigger, fatter, dirtier - that's how this homeboy's rollin'!

The final part of the SchleiBen series brings the contrast of heavyweights for a special collaborative release featuring Colin Potter (Nurse With Wound), Alessio Natalizia (Walls/Not Waving) and Guido Zen (Brain Machine), backed up on the flp by a rising name, the (another) world ambience of Cass. Emotional Response completes the SchleiBen series, bringing together the legendary Colin Potter with two of Italy's best experimental / drone / industrial producers in Alessio Natalizia and Guido Zen for a one off special recording, plus again highlighting one last Dusseldorf affiiated project, with the Osnabruck based, beautiful ambient touches of producer Niklas Rehme-Schluter aka Cass. When the idea of the split series was born, one of the aims was to get producers who have worked with the label to come together and record special pieces. However, it was not until the fial release that this fially occurred and who better in which to do this. Having seen a number of reissues come out in the last 18 months - one of which on the distant relative label, Sacred Summits, Colin Potter has brought him in to the orbit of two
artists closely associated with Emotional Response in Mr Natalizia and Mr Zen. The assimilated Parts 1 and 2 provide a perfect marriage of methods. Percussion hinting at Industial and Techno is explored, while the constant Drone inflx and disintegration grab your attention, overlapping with rhythmic repetition deeper and deeper. To end is the ambience of Cass. Taken from the limited 'Hiding Place' cassette only album, the pieces here are the perfect completion. Found sounds, loops, piano, synthesis, all intertwine and overlap to bathe you in pause, a one last time call to stop and (un)listen.

PBR Streetgang are no strangers to Futureboogie, having released the 2012 'Double Boogie' EP and are regular supporters of the label over the years. The Leeds based pair have racked up some great singles for the likes of Throne Of Blood, 2020 Vision and Wolf Music.

And X-Press 2 will need little introduction, suffice to say that Rocky & Diesel have been at the forefront of the house music scene since day dot, and a career that has spanned underground gems for Junior Boys Own to chart hits for Skint and so many great musical moments in between.

'Cosine' in its Original Mix perfectly encapsulates the sound of both artists, X-Press 2 bringing the dark and brooding atmosphere to the table whilst PBR indulge in some cosmically tantric arpeggiated synth work and a fathoms deep bassline, whilst vocal refrains and distant bells create the ambience. A very heavy mood piece from the team here!

The arp riff stays center stage for the two accompanying remixes of 'Cosine'. Lauer, AKA Philip Lauer, goes for a more ethereal and piano driven take. As one half of Tuff City Kids (with Gerd Janson) and solo artist in his own right for labels like Running Back, Permanent Vacation and Beats In Space, Lauer provides a glossy and smooth re-rub of the original that demands for late night action!

The second remix of 'Cosine' comes from A Sagittairun, the Bristol based techno cosmonaut who has been releasing a myriad of deep techno and ambient dub sounds on his Elastic Dreams imprint. The 'Futuro Re-Dream' ramp up the energy levels, and takes the beat down electro alley, brimming with Detroit techno tropes, breakbeats and rave-esque bass for a funky & futuristic flashback moment.

'Key Free', the second original production from PBR & X-Press 2, goes super-size, with the melodious free wheeling keys providing the jack work over the industrious drum pattern. Deadly synth sweeps bring the depth as the booming kick and ricocheting claps push this one further into techno territory whilst retaining the swing and melody of another classy Futureboogie release.

From the tropics comes Whiskey Disco, a sneaky re-edit label bent on dredging the decanter for diffident dancefloor genius from

latent disco perpetrators. It's loosely connected to Sleazy McQueen and his assorted cohorts.

After a storming end to 2014 with the incredible Ilya Santana release in November featuring remixes by Nelue, Future Feelings, Thomass Jackson & Rayko, we released we had set the bar pretty high but Retrospective are back with a monster of a release. We are proud to kick off 2015 with none other than Italy's finest; Ajello who are back with their second E.P. on the label! Eclecticism is definately the keyword word of the Ajello project comprising of Luca (DJ Rocca) Roccatagliati and Fabrizio Taver Tavernelli. The Ajello sound features a number of influences all of which can be heard in the tracks on this, their first E.P. on Retrospective; electro, new-wave, italo-disco, disco, neurofunk, eurodance, space sounds, early house. Over the years their music has received worldwide support from a host of international artists including Laurent Garnier, Erol Alkan, Dimitri From Paris, Andrew Weatherall, and Nick Fanciulli amongst others.

As this is the second E.P. of 2 from Ajello we decided to take the remixes for this project to the next level. First up is Luminodisco of House Of Disco fame, undoubtedly one of Nu Disco's pioneers with a heritage to match who has reworked Montgomery Clift ready for the main room. The second mix is delivered by none other than YamWho best known for his Midnight Riot & ISM imprints who delivers a pure Disco groover. Finally for the vinyl release is Retrospective's own Rayko serving up his "best remix ever" in his own words! In addition, for the digital release Aashton of Aashton & Swift fame brings his signature house flavor to the fold alongside an instrumental of the original for the heads. Quite a package I'm sure you will agree!

Having released on Luna Flicks, Relish this time is the right time for his debut on Full Pupp. the unmistakably sparkling Chmmr sound stands for long hypnotic, tracks, simple in a way, but oh so grooveleaden, sick bassed continuously panned patterned with a string theme makes sure you never forget which song it was that stuck in your ear last. The Faze Action brothers released their fifth studio album entitled "Body Of One" last year and to continue the celebration they have recruited some heavy weight talents to give their spin on three tracks from that album.
First, the brothers take on the remix duties of "Magic Touch", giving it a dub house reboot that could be the sound track to countless sunsets this summer. Next up is a deft dub mix of the same track by Maxidiscs cohort and globe trotting DJ, Dicky Trisco.
On the flip side we have the Balearic powerhouse that is Phil Mison, remixing "Echoes Of Your Mind" into an electronic, down tempo feast with additional Bass, Guitar and Keyboard played by the man himself.
The final mix on this 12" is provided by "Emotional Response" curator and head honcho Stuart Leath under his Chuggy guise, delivering an organic dub mix of Faze Action's "Floating World"

LUMIERE NOIRE : a stroboscopic collection assembled by Chloe on Kill the DJ.
LUMIERE NOIRE is Chloe's experimental laboratory; a dark room to which she has the only key. The results are tracks that light up the dance floor, with electronic epics and psychedelic adventures. She features both emerging artists and old friends with well-established reputations. Different fragments of Chloe united in a fascinating collage hosted on the black and white imprint.
CHLOE : "I want to share and to let people discover techno tracks with psychedelic, vintage or krautrock vapors.  I will put out a few of the unreleased tracks by established artists and newcomers, that I usually play in my dj sets. Lumière noire literally means 'blacklight'.  The name reveals what I'm going for: I want to be in the shadows until I disappear but the music glows. The first black light (LUMIERE NOIRE) will be shone on IL EST VILAINE.  The Parisian duo composed of Simon Says, a longtime friend from DIALECT RECORDINGS, and Florent aka Dorian Grey, a up-and-coming it-boy who focuses on hard techno and rave parties (he's a former member of the hedonistic Parisian nightlife collective Washin Mashin.) The duo's first collaboration "SCANDAL EP" (a sweaty disco vibe stained with leather-biker oil)  came out in March 2014 and was a big success. I played all sides of this EP in clubs all over the world, so it was easy for me to trust them blindly (in the dark again), giving them the the reins of this first release on LUMIERE NOIRE.  I was not disappointed.  The villains offered me four haunting and unstoppable tracks that put us in the leather boots of a beat-up James Dean crawling out of a back-room and attempting to conquer the Wild West.
