Springintgut's album 'Where We Need No Map(Pingipung37, April 2013) has been reworked by a motley set of musicians. This EP features Dub Disco, Deep-House and Skweee remixes of the cello-heavy compositions which have originally been recorded during tours in India and Japan.

One of these things is not like the others. Put veteran producer and general madman Eddie Ruscha (AKA Secret Circuit, Laughing Light of Plenty, Dadamunchamunky) in a studio with the spritely whipper-snapper Diego Herrera (AKA Suzanne Kraft & 1/3 Pharaohs) and your results will be nothing less than an epic jam. As the name Blasé suggests, their laxadasical style and confident panache is abundant. The duo ease into their productions with a cool hand and an open mind, letting the moment take them somewhere foreign to bask in surreal surroundings, but not without documenting the trip.

The latest chapter in the long standing relationship between Gilles Peterson and the music of Cuba sees him explore the roots of rumba through a project comprising three parts: a feature length documentary, a collection of remixes and a free sample pack. Produced in collaboration with rum maker Havana Club - creator of the Havana Cultura platform to promote contemporary Cuban culture - this is another episode in a six-year relationship that's already given vital exposure to different aspects of Cuba's thriving music culture through the Havana Cultura album series.

Peterson worked with the island's esteemed rumberos to record authoritative versions of the three rhythms as well as discuss what differing meanings and origins are attached to each. The recordings of rumba's three key styles were handed to a crop of producers working in the orbit of the most interesting corners of club music, allowing for an exciting, global re-interpretation of rumba's roots. The result is Havana Club Rumba Sessions: a collection of remixes that's as varied as you'd expect from a roster of producers spread across locales as wide as South London to Japan and beyond. The final mixes are by four of the producers involved in the 22a beatmaker collective, the first of which is by Reginald Omas Mamode IV who folds the Cuban rhythm into atypically disjointed construction; Tenderlonious spaces out gentle chords and a vocal from Daymé Arocena to keep things sparse.

Debut on Chicago label STAR CREATURE (run by TUGBOAT EDITS' TIM ZAWADA and CHEF BEN). Bay Area multi-instrumentalist and part-time vocalist E. LIVE (BASTARD JAZZ) drops 2 modern disco cuts that straddle the future/ retro line with R&B Vocals and a mix of live and electronic instruments.

Debut 12' 'All My Dreams' is dense and loose and packed with distinctly stoned, romantic feelings filtered through deep house and progressive, breaks-inflected techno. Hazy, hands-in-the-air house peaks collide with OTT epiphanic vocal samples, mutated by clouds of lavender.

Following on from the Admas/Andras Fox 12' (MPR007), Major Problems raids Compassion Crew's vaults for this killer double comp, featuring 11 tracks from Frak, Admas, PlusTwo, Big City Orchestra, Philip Jeck and more.

'Compassion Cuts, Tapes & Acetates' runs through a rarified selection of raw house and most-wanted italo; 808 and vocoder jams, proto-house; dope synth workouts; private press gospel and some experimental tracks that just won't be defined. Don't look, hide!

All tracks restored and mastered by Thomas P Heckmann and cut by Andreas at Schnittstelle. Out on 2x12' gatefold LP, with Simon Landrein's full-colour artwork presented in a laminate gloss finish.

Some of the people may remember Dices from collaborations with Vakula on Leleka and Shevchenko. But he probably left the biggest trail by his release on Udacha. This time he presents Untitled Gear, a larger group of musicians, producers, photographers and singers based manly in St. Petersburg. For their music creation they use variety of gear from electronic instruments, live wind, string instruments and percussion to vocals. They also create soundscapes for children's play, photo exhibitions and silent movies.

The track's stripped back dynamics keep changing as it's deep drug chug rocks out for over 10 sublime proto-disco minutes. Man of the moment Fila Brazilia's Steve Cobby is enjoying a renaissance after two albums that have ruled 2014 / 15. On Forbidden Flesh he takes Crazy P's Danielle Moore's vocals and lays them over a soulful techy track that will fit any after dark occasion with devastating results. And it's got loads of cowbell. After the veterans it's time for a young gun to nail his colours to the mast. Iceland's B.G.Baarregaard has been one to watch and his blend of good time disco has been lining him up as Todd Terje's heir apparent.This remix is peak-time nu-disco that wears it's musicality lightly and sacrifices nothing for sheer playability. Overall, a 12" that takes the Flash Atkins originals and breathes new life in to them for three cuts that will smash anything they are thrown at.

For its 3rd release, Malka Tuti is welcoming Khidja to the ever expanding family. The Romanian Duo appears to be in great form after their successful releases on Emotional Especial and Love on the Rocks. With their unique approach to production that combines recording alot of friends playing live instruments (Saz, Guitars, Violins, Persian Poetry just to name a few) and with references to obscure Fusion Jazz as well as to early Industrial and techno music, a very fertile and creative ground was made. Out of it Came Racheta El Fadaa, a unique slow hypnotic tune with some Arabic and Andalusian touches, that keeps on evolving, Drums of Taksim, a timeless tune, with the mesmerizing speech in the beginning followed by heavy bass and uncontrollable string grooves, and Monkey Tiger, a pure Industrial mid-tempo power track for all the chuggers out there to go mental to with its heavy baseline, screaming violins and dance floor scorching synth lines. On the remix to Drums of Taksim we find a collab between Turkish maestros Baris K & Mehmet Aslan, that strips the original down, pitches it up, and give the ep a bit of a mid-tempo house touch and a final seal of approval.

The mysterious Dream Lovers arrive on Uber with the super mellow Brasil. A tropical reggae disco tinged Balearic shuffler, all loose percussion and soft guitars. Reminiscent of Studio in their heyday. Abel from the Redlight Records crew dims the lights and strips the og back. Layback and feel the sunshine on your eyelids. The second remix comes from Maciek Sienkiewicz of Very Polish Cut-Outs. A quirky almost off beat stripped back version bringing out the guitars and adding extra synths pads. Uber warming us up with some Balearic heat.

Following on from the blistering Neil Diablo release, KAT are back with a couple of edits of grand proportions by stem edit master, The Reflex...
First up we have the 1975 gem that is 'Shining Star' as penned by the Earth, Wind and Fire dream team Larry Dunn, Philip Bailey and Maurice White (with production coming from the latter). Here we have The Reflex's own re-vision stripping back the original to bare all it's glory and lovingly stringing it back together using the original multi-tracks and re-arranging to twice the length of the original. BPM locked (so no excuses whilst mixing) and sonically enhanced with mastering done by Roland Schwarz... this one is destined to fly.
Disco Funk Soul Whatever the genre, this crossover beauty firmly works on that all important dance floor.

Deep disco warrior The Revenge turns in an epic hypnotic mix of slow burning house nailed down by analogue bass and acid.
Using a filtered vocal it builds slowly as the bottom end is tweeked towards a mesmeric journey through minimal wigged out disco.Sleazy McQueen and Romano Arcaini turn in a disco inflected house mix with congas, spaces out synths and enough dynamics to keep any dancefloor bubbling.
It builds with added percussion and a filtered pad before the lead hits the break and the track comes back in with even more wallop.Drug Empire is an original off the album and has had support from the likes of Rune Lindbaek, Crazy P's Hot Toddy and Horse Meat Disco. Said to be inspired by Theo Parrish's productions it's a delicious slice of bass driven deep disco with a nod to the looser end of Detroit and Chicago.
It's all about the fully locked in three note analogue Moog bass which holds down the grooved out drums before breaking to jazzy Rhodes at the end. One for the heads.

The multitalented Roberto Auser returns to his Dutch West Coast dancefloor roots! Heavy three tracker on the Pinkman sublabel Charlois, with sounds varying from tripping intergalactic tribal electro to southern space disco.

Italofficina sees the duo finally getting the vinyl treatment. Bordello A Parigi alumnus, and fellow countryman, Hard Ton has been drafted in for some extra mirrorball muscle on "Dimmi Di Si". Expect smiles, tears and shimmying bodies from this love-tinted sherbert-filled romance romp. Lush synth melt and mesh with smooth vocals in this late night outing. Twilight is the time and Irregular Disco Workers are providing the atmosphere. "Les Folies" is soft and nurturing, funk flanked and infectiously grooved. Chocolate covered bass lines, crisp claps with an addictive quality that warrants a health warning. The flip introduces itself with the sun streaked arpeggios of "Electronic Emotions". Clean shaven the track pulses with energy, gentle builds tumbling into breaks brimming with blissed-out tones. The curtain fall comes with the considered moods of "Crisi Mistica". For the inaugural release of Eglo's sister label Melodies, We bring back a rare disco crossover anthem by Taxie. Formed in Oakland, California in 1978 the band recorded Rock Dont Stop & pressed up limited quantities. Remastered from the original tapes, this uplifting dance-floor gem is having a second wind at parties worldwide, and has become a special moment at the You're a Melody nights.

Aladdin is an atypical project at Versatile, even for Versatile's standards. In the base, the group consisted of Nicolas Ker — singer, chaotic poet (known from Poni Hoax, Paris, and his solo project yet to emerge) — and Gilbert Cohen, boss of the label. The two met in the studio after breaking up with their then-girlfriends, resulting in an album filled with inner pressure. 'We were strong so we got lost', released only on cd in June 2011, selling only 400 copies. And since then... nothing.

But thanks to a one-week studio session offered by a brand of energy drink, they met again, attracting Syd Barrett-influenced guitarist Eat Gas as a new member, to record new material. Besides Eat Gas and his haunted guitars, other musicians were lured to the studio to contribute to the latest Aladdin EP: 'Girls in Uniform'. Long jam sessions took place, featuring motorik drummer Mark Kerr, bass player Juan de Guillebon, and percussionist Francesco Lopez playing Brazilian percussions like the berimbau, and — hold your breath — the mouth harp.

With a cast alike, you'll understand the listening experience will be a hybrid one; in between rock, dub, kraut, interrupted by a break in the form of a strange fairy tale... Trevor Jackson has been a staunch supporter of the previous album, so asking him for a remix was an obvious choice. Glorified by the success of his compilation on the On-U Sound label, he swings in a remix dark as hell but with an unstoppable heavy groove. At last, Gilb'R delivers a smoky dub, one of the first recordings to roll out of his new Amsterdam studio.

Some artists come and go with the changing of the tides; others transcend the trends and become seminal in the process. If there were a dance music hall of fame, these guys would be longtime inductees. But let's not get caught up in nostalgia - they've been pushing things forward every step of the way. From club tracks to live shows, to multimillion selling albums, to all-encompassing visual/audio spectacles - the Groove Armada has been sailing strong since 1995. Recently Tom and Andy made the decision to step away from the arenas and return to their roots, composing a collection of raw, foundation-shaking tracks, designed for the warehouse. As good friends of Moda Black we wasted no time in snapping them up - the resulting EP speaks for itself. Powerful and sonically precise, this is GA is basement mode!
