It's not every day you find a keyboard player with chops like John Camp. Plucked from the same Minneapolis Jazz vine that grew such deliciously ripened talents as No Regular Play's Greg Paulus and Aaron James (Gregory Porter band), we met Camp for the first time at the Marcy Hotel. Initially adding his signature touch to other's Crew Love records and last year dropping an incredible EP on Have A Killer Time, the Mistral EP marks his first official Crew Love release! Camp's range is dynamic and this body of music certainly shows it. From jazz funk infused deep house, to analogue heavy brokenbeat, to vein-melting downtempo with a Dilla twist, this EP takes you there and then some. More from John Camp in his words: "Mistral started out as an odd-ball tune put together in the wee hours at the Marcy Penthouse. Having played it live a number of times with my good friends Greg Paulus and Nick Debruyn from No Regular Play, here it is now, in it's final version featuring Greg Paulus on Trumpet. Sirocco is a bit of a counterpart to Mistral, slowing the tempo down to a nice slow groove and branching out into some new realms. Unlike Mistral, Sirocco is a darker and more mysterious song. I have been fortunate enough to meet Aidan Carroll, a fantastic Bass player, who has laced Vandalia with some tasty bass lines. The song is sort of focused around the bass line progression and shows Carroll's amazing ability to weave a beautiful pattern through these unusual chord changes. Lastly, there's Medusa, Soul Clap and Camp's collaborative effort with the Clap steering the wheel and Camp firing all the musical heavy artillery. This dancefloor friendly house/techno flex has stood the test of time in Soul Clap's DJ sets.

Generator by Rodion incorporates hippie dance grooves, middle eastern vibes, Simon & Garfunkel-esque vocals, lisergic synth licks, and future kraut atmospheres. Tracks like Bococa Hills and Phobos Berl have a rolling cosmic groove, whilst Allee Der Kosmonauten and Run-Out head for the dance floor. Colazione and Riposa! have a more icy ambient feel, whilst Alta Marea and Gamma make good use of Rodion's supreme collection of analogue hardware, producing a pair of synth drive grooves.

Perhaps it's something in the water or just plain vodka, we really have no idea but one thing is for sure - there's something special about those Moscow disco heads. They sure know how to find a perfect beat and re-edit it to perfection. After Lay-Far it's now time for Arsenii to step into the Basic Fingers arena.

Both sides on this 12 are filled with Jazz-Funk and library infused disco at its best. 'Allegria' sounds like Bob James is jamming with The Headhunters and on the flip 'Turbo' with its generous use of synthesizers almost has an outer space theme.

Italian DJ legend DJ Rocca (from the infamous Maffia Club) joins forces with File Under Disco to produce a stunning EP of original new disco sounds.

As one half of Erodiscotheque alongside disco superstar Dimitri From Paris, and as a regular collaborator with Danielle Baldelli the Grandaddy of the Cosmic sound, DJ Rocca's disco credentials are firmly in place.

For this release, he captures the classic sound of disco funk on 'Love Power', but gives it a modern production twist and re-spins it for the contemporary dance floor.
On the remix front, the one and only Dimitri From Paris rolls out one of his heavy-hitting, Prelude-style Nightdubbin' mixes of 'Pizza On Wednesday', which will have your dancers beating the street for more.

The Swedish label Fasaan Recordings reinvents itself once again with a 4-track EP from the Free Arts Band!
Still rummaging around in the general field of dance music, but now with a touch more avant-garde on their palette. The faceless entity that is the Free Arts Band introduces us to the simple idea of bringing a drum machine to art school. Infused with the creative space of the white-painted studio, a healthy dose of post-modernist pondering and the depth of traditional lineage, these four jams seem oddly timeless. Each of them riding on the verge of reductionism, they seem to ask: how funky can this get with as limited means as possible
Opening track "Cool Grey" offers synthesized new age jazz with some sundazed guitars, while "KADK" strips everything down to their primal elements and lets the rhythms do the talking, pierced occasionally by a woozy keyboard figure that perfectly mimics the gestures of someone walking in on the wrong party.
With lo-fi gloom, the heavyweight of the E.P. that is "Inhouse" rolls along on a beat that gently approaches the aesthetics of a West Coast low rider cruising track.
Closing the cycle is a sequel to its opening track, and walks you out into a Japanese garden of British new wave guitar twang and brightly colored Badarou-style synths.

On Walking Nhan Solo is joined by Mother Recordings regular Dilby for the first of a series of collaboration projects from the pair. The track works around a deadly combination of tension and release coupled with a memorable hook to create a pumping and funky ass shaker. While the name of the track is Walking, this record gets the crowd running to the dancefloor.

The wonderful Black Ops sub label from the SLEAZYBEATS people wraps up, which has been a monumentally successful series by anyone's standards, with an EP from the notorious sample bandits, The Popular People's Front
Over a decade after launching a distinctive series whose ambitions amounted to no less than condensing thirty years of black club music into a beautifully packaged, portable collage of sonic sample goodness, the SB crew tracked them down & appealed to their anarchic, nihilistic nature by offering them the final release on the label. The PPF project itself came to a close at release No. 10, so the synchronicity was strong
For no other reason than a desire to celebrate dancefloor abandon and strive to soundtrack the purest forms of hedonism, ambiguous sexuality and a transcendent celebration of outsider culture, not to mention a green light to shamelessly exploit, steal and otherwise pilfer their source material, they said yes.
After trying, with no small amount of success to transcend the basic 'edit' through the PPF series, the band have again worked their collage approach into three truly magical cuts

Katastrofa EP is an Ex-Yu Edits release which transforms forgotten gems from the former Yugoslavia. Russian Valique and Serbian veteran selector Funky Junkie are behind this project. Opener "Katastrofa" offers a delicious blend of heavy, synth-laden '80s boogie, punchy afrobeat horns and bold, chant-a-long vocals, while the slower, more chugging "Frka" is an Adriatic delight - all lazy, sun-kissed synths, sugary-sweet vocals and sloppy kisses. As for closer "Yugoslavia" , it sounds like a disco-house anthem in waiting, as the duo adds bumpin' beats to a rising, horn-heavy chunk of starlight disco.

With his "Planet A EP" Utrecht-based Anil Aras makes his debut on Soulfood. While listening to a broad variety of music, Anil discovered his deeper love for all kinds of electronic music, which you can clearly hear in his productions. Ranging from house to techno, from funk to dub, it becomes clear that Anil doesn't care about simple minded visions. Packed with solid grooves and catchy lines, Anil finally gives us a peek at the secret weapons he's been on holding to himself for quite a while... But it is very safe to say it has been worth the wait; with four solid club bangers for the win,"Planet A" is ready to shred dance floors all summer long.

Our new release has been a long time coming and is the first collaboration between those evil twins that are LDDLM and KILL THE DJ, two labels joined at the hips.

C.A.R. is Chloe Raunet's project, whose album MY FRIEND will be released on October 25th on KTDJ. This is obviously an important project all round for her and for us and there was so much to do that two labels was a perfect idea. She originally wrote the lyrics for Gesaffelstein, who turned them down in favour of another two tracks they'd done together. A new song was woven from the words.

Roman Flugel is not only an old friend of the family but also one of our favourite producer. His album on DIAL and recent remixes has proven that he's on the top of his game. There are bleeps, there are subs, and Chloe's vocal drifting on top of a general electronic monster.

Kill the DJ commissioned the Planningtorock remix and we loved it so much that we "stole it' for our vinyl release. Jam has made the song hers, pitching down the vocal, punking up the bass grove and adding, yes, disco strings.

Manfredas remix of Angelina has been Ivan's biggest record for the whole of last year, licensed by Rebolledo for his mixed CD and causing a stir here and there. This is a very hard track to describe, a cross between a panzer and Rondo Veneziano on acid. It's for those who dares.

Finally, Robert Johnson and Hinvern new wunderkid, Benedikt Frey (his Blanc 002 was...) delivers a brilliant acid rendering but not a cliché plastic warehouse things. This builds and builds and builds...

Fkclub Aka Marc Lapeyre did it again with the Illuminati EP on Astrolab.

Mixing modern synth and old school analog sounds to create a dirty, catchy and powerful track : Illuminati.

Volta is new wav-ish with its dark synth bass and voice, like Depeche Mode on magic mushrooms.

Pilooski's remix of Illuminati brings the track to a point of dissonance and trippy ARP, where the man show us one more time what a flair he has for it.

Homesick #5 is the unplanned result of a tremendously funky DJ set by General Ludd (Mister Saturday Night / Rubadub) in Hong Kong. Three tracks have been chosen by the Homesick team to reflect the intense disco inferno atmosphere we all felt on that unforgettable night.

A planned reissue for many years, the untimely passing of Steve Coe shortly after the label's rerelease of The Ganges Orchestra's The Dream put everything on hold. However, time moves and so now seems a fitting time to revisit this "world dance" classic with fonder hearts. Long cherished, it is a reminder of Steve's enduring studio mastery. After the initial success of his work with Sheila Chandra in Monsoon, Steve expanded his musical scope, working on an Indipop compilation as clubs looked to Eastern flavours to add a new dimension for the dancefloor. Teaming up with tabla disciple turned teacher, Jhalib (Millar), as well as long time collaborator Martin Smith, it's hard to imagine Mysteries was first heard in 1982. Hailed as an all time classic, it's enduring appeal can be seen in how it became a staple for the likes of Danielle Baldelli at the infamous Cosmic club and beyond to become an original Evissa "balearic" secret play for Weatherall & co in those fateful summers of love and beyond. Remastered especially for this release, the orchestral Eastern melody and mid-tempo chugging rhythms and vocals marry in perfection with a dub bassline of Wobble inspired depth. This alone would be enough, however, the original is at last backed with the 1988 remix. Aimed at the then burgening New Beat scene, a subtle straightening kick is added, but it's the unmistakable vocals of Sheila Chandra that finally brings this release together in melodic harmony. Inspired by his time at the Volcano Extravaganza festival on the Sicilian Island of Stromboli, Daniele Baldelli has created three new cosmic tracks. Including an epic remix of 1970's.
A founding father of the Cosmic Disco sound, Italian DJ Daniele Baldelli rose to prominence with his mixture of European electronica, synth pop (often played at slower speeds), equaliser effects, and ethnic folk music. Baldelli's use of African and Brazilian material helps distinguish his style from Italo disco, which permeated the clubs of Northern Italy during the 1970s.
Baldelli DJ'd the night away at last years festival and releases the EP on The Vinyl Factory in time for the 2016 celebrations. The art and music festival is hosted on the volcanic active island of Stromboli, which is known for its harmonic vibes and starry constellations.The record pressed on 180g heavyweight vinyl and contains photography taken at the top of the volcano. The inner sleeve has a full colour printed animation by artist Nico Bruno and notes from festival curator Milovan Farronato.

Not much known about this release but made by seminal production outfit in the mid 90's NYC... Never before released in any format! ALL KILLER NO FILLER!

Having been a longstanding fan of Grauzone and Stephan Eicher's early solo
work,Headman/ Robi Insinna was originaly asked to remix a track a few years
back. The idea of doing a Reworks 12 on Relish came later and the choice
fell on - Nice". Which will also be part of the Reworks album coming next
year.

Robi Insinna then enlisted the help of New York City's Justin Strauss who
played "Eisbaer" by Grauzone when he got his first copy after he just
started his first DJ job at legendary Mudd Club, who set to add his touch
to "Le Files du Limmatquai" along with his partner Bryan Mette under the
(Whatever/Whatever Remix) Moniker.

The Cover of the release is a take on the original artwork from the
Nice 12 US mixes Vinyl from 83', which is by Klaudia Schifferle
from Swiss all girl punk band Kleenex, who had written and performed
- Nice" originally. The result is a classic sound with a smooth modern
edge.

It does not sound old and dated, but somehow timeless...the Planet Rock
touch was actually what i tried to achieve back in the days, Arthur Bakers

On the newest Star Time release, Kon reworks "The Bottle". Most should be familiar with this song but this gets the standard Kon treatment, an intro that builds dropping into The Bottle's infamous chords bass line breakdowns and more.
For the flipside Kon remixes the rework for more of a housier vibe, chopping some vocal sections and some guitar ala George Benson style.

Riotvan no. 10 - what a nice jubilee! And a perfect catalogue number to take a look at our back catalogue up to now and at the same time look ahead at the things we might cast in vinyl at some point in the future. Riotvan isn't just a reflection, but also an inherent part and impulse in the electronic music scene of Leipzig. Gathering the inner circle of the Riotvan cosmos on one record for the first time, thus, seemed like a very logical step. So RVN010 is the first so-called Various Artists in our roster. At the same time it marks the beginning of a new series, which will regularly lead our close and new friends on the field from now on.

Once again, The French duet composed of Zdar & Boombass has managed to gather the crème de la crème on its project. Ibi' for Ibiza and fornia' for California, or the perfect cocktail between the fervor of the Spanish Island's dancefloors and the incredible freshness of the Californian mentality. Pharell Williams is present on the album, as well as a totally transformed Cat Power. The great Mike D (Beastie Boys), and the over-playful guitarist Matthieu Chedid, are also some of the prestigious names we can mention. The singles Ibifornia", Go Up", Action' and The Missing' are already available as well as the EP of remixes Action", that have given us many good reasons to wait for the upcoming opus. Once you'll have had the time to adopt those songs as your new summer anthems, Cassius will give you a taste of what your Indian summer can sound like - so rendez-vous the 26th August!

After Silenzio and Robotique de l'Amour- in french, Vampiros Discos is Theremynt's third Ep- an electronic journey in Portuguese-tribute to Horror Brazilian Filmmaker Ze do Caixao and all the vampires movies that have accompanied us as teenagers such as Dracula and the Likes. Somewhere between dirty house, krautrock and deviant techno, it is an uplifting track made for the dancefloor . The three remixes are following the track's original path pushing it to its edges: Andrew Claristidge from Acid Washed has given an interesting version both deviant and cinematographic, the Club Bizarre duet is offering a more techno version with obsessive bells while legendary techno producer David Carretta is immerging us into a new beat and rather technoish hypnotic tune. The result is a perfect DJ tool -worth trying on the dance floor in the middle of the night.

Emotional Especial comes together with Future Nuggets for a "Special" one-off collaboration. Reinterpreting the music of Steaua de Mare are four remixes from rising (Eastern) stars Khidja and Mehmet Aslan.

The first in a short series of Especial "Specials" - where new artists are brought together for unique releases - we start by teaming up with Future Nuggets to present again the sonic offshoot in the unique band, Steaua de Mare. Returning in remix form, songs from their self-titled album, as well as extra additions, are specially reworked.

First Khidja take album track Babadag to new psychedelic depths, adding multiple layers of guitar and synths, all inexhaustibly dubbed and re-dubbed until a whole new track emerges for the more discerning minds.

Next Mehmet Aslan is focused on the dance-floor, carefully reconstructing new track Shop into a club orientated groove, aiming straight at the feet with inevitable results. On the flip, Mehmet then reworks album highlight, Doamne ce greseala am, amassing tension in careful, subtle ways, crafting a version that is a proper meeting of hearts and minds.

To finish, Khidja return to remix the previously unreleased 1 Septembrie. Going to great lengths in managing a myriad of details, with balearic, kraut, pseudo-disco and exotica reverberations all pulsating, here then are on point examples of remix manipulation. A perfect way to start this series and showcase these wonderful artists.

Glasgow's Junto Club return with their second EP. In their own words...
This is the second in our planned trilogy of Junto Club EPs. If the first was the birth of the Junto Club, this is the middle-aged existential crisis.
We've followed the same ethos as the first EP, allowing the music to develop organically rather than being restricted by considerations of genre. Naturally, this was shaped by our experiences of the first EP.
While the first EP developed through our experimentation with new sounds behind closed doors, this EP was the result of our attempts to retrospectively understand those creations and the interpretations of others. These reflections were mixed with our reimagining of those discoveries and our experiences of their live performance.
Warm Me Up is not the same as the Junto Club EP because those virgin sessions can never be recreated. Nor should they be. This is the middle aged existential crisis of the Junto Club. And we hope you enjoy dancing to it.

After his last year debut on FASRAT Das Komplex is on fire - after EPs for Young Adults and Pets Recordings here he is again with a brand new 12" showing his versatility and ability to seamlessly blend multiple genres. All tracks on "Pudding" show clearly his dub and reggae influences applied to a light as a feather deep house rhythm frame, subtly infused with cosmic stylings and some synthpop nostalgia. At the same time, solid grooves carry Das Komplex' trademark melodic hooks - resulting in proper heads music that would work perfectly on any dancefloor - and any radio alike. "Pudding" sounds like a perfect teaser for Polish producer's debut artist album - due later this year on FASRAT.

Every once in a while a record comes along that defies any sort of conventional explanation and transcends today's numbed-out consensus beats - Tropique', the latest offering on Copenhagen's Music For Dreams is one of them. Cosmic disco, neo-Balearic, retro-Italo-futurism - get as creative as you like trying to peg it but one thing is for sure, Doctr's Tropique' is undoubtedly an excellently crafted tune, an irresistible crowd-pleaser.
As if magically appearing from the untouched realms of electronic music, the soundtrack to some quirky, exotic floating party at the centre of the Bermuda Triangle, Tropique' is a simple concept, a seemingly innocent loop which rolls along and sneakily picks up more effects with each rotation. The production is near faultless, perfectly structured and fine-tuned to draw the maximum drama out of its infectious bass and tasty keyboard hook.
Its creator Well, little is documented about the producer who simply goes by the name of Doctr, but it's clear that he operates to the beat of his own drum and knows how to rock a party with rollicking flair judging by the dubby yet joyous vibes he brings to this eclectic and high-sprited offering. Tropique' sounds like its gestation was characterised by years of crate-digging and wild, balmy nights. Having played only a handful of acclaimed shows so far, it appears Doctr is that rare find, a crowd-pleasing DJ whose musical skills trump his proven ability to move butts.
'Tropique' is the tune this summer's been craving and will no doubt become virtually inescapable throughout 2016 and for years to come - a future classic for sure. Limited vinyl release.

Most Excellent Unlimited presents "Ghost Guide," a deep listening session from Osaka's Mori Ra & DJ Ground aka Oyama Edit ( Edit). Four psyched-out cuts edited from the duo's obscure record collection, and overdubbed in their home studio, range from chilled cosmic disco jams to frantic psychedelic krautrock pieces that make for both a killer listening session, and head-turning tools for the discerning dance floor. Vinyl only edition of 400.

Seahawks return with their deepest album to date. A masterful blend of Berlin-School electronics and post ECM New Age fusion. Finis Africae meets Harold Budd downtown.

Escape Hatch is the fourth studio album by Seahawks, recorded over the last 18 months and drawing inspiration from Innovative Communications Berlin School electronics, ECM and Windham Hill releases by the likes of Mark Isham, Jan Garbarek and Interior and the New Age synth sounds of Iasos, Deuter and William Aura.

The album opens with sheets of soft white noise, which give way to Budd like treated piano and fretless bass before super saturated saxophone tones and rippling sequences cascade over the listener like a summer downpour.

Seahawks trademark tropical vibes continue throughout the album but there's a constantly changing panorama of moods and tones, from the deeply emotive Missed with its widescreen synth and sax interplay that recall Vangelis' Blade Runner soundtrack to the epic scope of White Horses with it's almost Popul Vuh like mantric outro and Starways it's distorted flugel horn like a ghost from Talk Talk's Spirit Of Eden.

At the very end of the (CD) album there's another twist. A cover of the obscure Balearic hit Valparaiso by Paula Moore, with a Nassau groove, surprise guest vocal and a twinkle in its eye, it provides a suitably eclectic yet ethereal ending.
