The land of the holy Balearic Blah Blah posse present another great limited package! First up is Angel - an ultra-rare demo version of a track by Italian pop legend Luc Bat. The original version of this track came out as a B-side of a 1973 single and is a fierce critique of the Catholic Church. This demo version only surfaced in the 2011 on unofficial CD for a mag dedicated to rare Italian music and was limited to 500 copies. Whereas the original had a sweet pop/tribal psychedic feel, this longer studio jam version has a totally different more ambient arrangement and atmosphere. Mars & Jupiter deliver three superb versions - the cleaned and tweaked 'Numero Uno Vocal Mix', the hypnotic loopy 'Never Slave Mix' and finally a long instrumental 'Moonboot Footprint Dub' which rises to a great crescendo. Also included is a chugging dreamy floor-friendly dub version of an Italian songstress's Balearic classic. Don't miss - these always sell out fast.

Moscoman arrived at the ESP Institute last year with a fistful of killer tracks and an imitable recipe for hummous, since then we've seen his debut with the dancefloor bomb Akachi and a collaborative follow-up release with long-time cohorts Red Axes. We're now excited to enter a new chapter with Moscoman's debut full-length album A Shot In The Light. This creative outpouring spans years of musical trials and tribulations, finally coming full circle to tell the story of an artist leaving his home in Tel Aviv to pursue his passions in the electronic mecca of Berlin and beyond. Moscoman's unique approach evolves and devolves over the course of eight songs, enduring highs and lows yet never resting for too long in one place—thus illustrating his personal metamorphosis as well as his acute skill of giving many voices to one wild imagination. Mexican Cola Bottle Baby is our lead single—an optimistic dancefloor-filler that rides a disco rhythm, full of odd-ball percussion, over a swollen house bassline as we're lead through clusters of synthesized mating calls via infectious melodic whistling. If there is a tune that sums up our idea of Summer—bright as a cloudless day yet thick as a tropical heat, and is as wacky as we are here, then this is it.

Rudy (aka Robin Lee from Faze Action) makes a welcome return on FAR, taking in the atmosphere of sunnier climes. The title tracks opening cascades and swirling synths fall into an easy Balearic groove, with singing melodies, exotic marimbas, a chugging synth bass and production echoing a mix of Compass Point, Grace Jones et all on holiday in Europe, whilst setting the scene for the EP. The 2nd track is introduced by hypnotic tones against analog synth arpeggios and haunting synth solos, invoking the "Sky Goddess". Back down to earth on the flip side is an invitation to sail down the "Shimmering Coast", with its relaxed guitar groove and keyboard flourishes all underpinned by a stunning 80s sounding bass line. Dropping anchor at "Fortune Lagoon", we are treated to some of Rudy's personally designed analog keyboard sounds, which mange to challenge yet retain tropical warmth. Finally live chorus bass introduces us to "Body Wave" which manages to fuse easy French Disco with jazzy Fender Rhodes hooks. By Nature is a reflection of white washed houses, palm trees, refreshing coastal beaches and yacht parties. Don't forget your sunglasses and tanning oil!

Disko Romeiko, as the title may suggest is a stomping, campfire lit and admittedly unlikely culture clash of Greek and Norwegian music. A vocoder laced, up-tempo workout of Norse Disco technique and traditional Greek melodies that is a surefire dancefloor delight. Remixes come from Rune collaborator in chief, Oyvind Blikstad, who pitches the vocoder vox front and centre and strips back the groove while amping up the drama.

Together Melbourne pair Amin Payne and Sean Deans form APSD, and they debut in quite impressive form with this Digital Dust album for Hot Shot Sounds. Inkswel and Benny Badge's label has developed into the prime source for what they call "drum machine soul music" and APSD are a perfect fit. Some 11 tracks deep, Digital Dust features contributions from the voice of Fat Freddy's Drop himself, Joe Dukie, as well as Miles Bonny, Cazeaux OSLO, Silent Jay and more. Yet it's Deans and Payne's innate mastery of a glistening brand of funk across various tempos which shines through on this album.

The mysterious MAN POWER shares a couple of floor-wrecking reworks from the vaults, Alicia Myers & the love walrus, man up in fine style...

In 2007, renowned French producer Julien Jabre tracked down the American gospel singer Phyliss McKoy Joubert on MySpace. Joubert was already a cult figure for house aficionados thanks to "Stand on the Word", a song she wrote and performed with her "Celestial Choir" in 1982 that became a staple of the club scene in New York. It resurfaced as a mysterious bootleg in 2000. Julien, who'd fallen in love with the song, was eager to remix and officialy rerelease it. When he finally reached out to Phyliss, she explained the multitrack tape had been lost. The only thing to do was rerecording it-along with 10 other tracks. Today on French label Elias, Julien and The Joubert Singers are releasing "Stand on the Word" in its original and unique 1982 version (mistakenly nammed after Larry Levan) and 3 brand new mixes including a fresh Dimitri From Paris remix. That's how the Good Lord works!

A leopard can't change his spots and Magnus International earned his spots in the sequence hue of Oslo's disco scene. 'Disco is the single thread that runs through all electronic dance music.' After an inconsistent hiatus from recording, the Norwegian DJ has finally donned the producer cap resolutely for his debut LP. Echo to Echo promises to be the artist's magnum opus, taking on epic proportions in the album narrative. Prins Thomas' Full Pupp family plays hosts to The Norwegian DJ's infectious disco arrangements as it has done since Magnus and Danny 'Blackbelt' Anderson first worked together as Kalle, Magnus and Daniel. Tracing a line from those early days through his first solo work Kosmetisk, Echo to Echo sees the producer combining the foundation of his sound with cues from the likes of Warp's early catalogue, transposing it into the singular voice that is Magnus International. 'I wanted to go back to Techno from my Youth.' Burrowing inspiration from the likes of LFO and Aphex Twin, Magnus spent two years in the studio refining a hybrid album that is ingrained in disco, but grows its own spots with the acid-infected synth work and inventive beat arrangements that were the signature trademarks of those early pioneers. Titles like Big Red and Echo to Echo are clear nods to these demi-gods of music, which Magnus makes his own in the context of a disco long-player. It's an album built on the foundation of Magnus' strengths as an experienced producer, innovator and DJ. Gerd Janson and Phillip Lauer are creatures of habit. Every week, the two club veterans meet up at Phillip's studio and spend an entire day making tunes. And while Gerd often likes to joke that his role in the arrangement is limited to making coffee and looking at his cell phone, it's clear that the two men have forged a potent partnership, one that's been responsible for an astonishing amount of dancefloor heat over the past few years.

Incredibly, this German pair has managed to maintain a relatively low profile, despite the steady stream of music they've released via well-respected labels like Unterton, Delsin, Internasjonal, Permanent Vacation and Live at Robert Johnson. And then there are the remixes—Azari & III, Scuba, The Juan Maclean, Fort Romeau, Avalon Emerson, Massimiliano Pagliara and Sinkane are just a small sampling of the artists who've enlisted Tuff City Kids to work their studio magic.
Throughout it all, there have been whispers of a proper Tuff City Kids album, and now that Adoldesscent has arrived, it will be all but impossible for the duo to linger in the background. After all, the LP is anything but shy—thanks in part to hooky vocal turns from the likes of Annie, Joe Goddard, Kelley Polar and Jasnau—and even the album's instrumental cuts
feature some clear nods to various eras of dance-pop, from the
boogie-inflected funk of Wake People' to the breakbeat techno of Boilered' and the tweaky rave nostalgia of Nordo.' Elsewhere,
first single Labyrinth' is an infectious bit of new wave, while the
guitar-driven Scared' recalls the gloomier side of '80s pop and
Tell Me' is perhaps the record's most playfully soulful moment.

DJs will likely gravitate toward the darting strings of Aska' and
breezy vibes of Farewell House,' yet Adoldesscent isn't entirely
focused on the dancefloor. Dreamy opener Ophmar' evokes the legacy of John Carpenter, while the crunchy R-Mancer' offers up a sort of psychedelic synth freakout.

Much like the Tuff City Kids themselves, Adoldesscent isn't about any one style or sound in particular. It is, however, a cohesive effort, along with proof that the different corners of the electronic spectrum have a lot more in common than we'd all like to admit. More importantly, it's a whole lot of fun, and isn't that what dance music is supposed to be about anyways

Meteor Musik was founded on 15 February 2013. The time that the Chelyabinsk meteor entered Earthís atmosphere over Russia. That day Joeri Wijnants, Micha Volders and Tim Geelen were composing electronic music in an old synthesizer studio from yesteryear, and the impact of the meteor made them decide to found Meteor Musik.

While jamming and improvising, their way of working invented itself: programming and playing everything live while recording directly to 5 minute audio tapes. The whole post process of mixing and editing is cut out and the results are vivid snapshots of improvised live tracks organised into little stories. Combining these stories results in an electronic trip through a galaxy of sound, experienced from the front seat of an old Russian spaceship with a view to kill.

Invisible Inc bring out their second compilation EP, this time vaguely focussing on the interzone between cosmic disco, balearic house, psychedelic 'glam rock' and seedy, tribal, dungeon acid.

Legion of Light spark up the A-side with an uplifting nod of respect to the house sound of Skandinavia reminiscent of Todd Terje, Lindstrom, Prins Thomas et al. Legion of Light are two veteran producers of tech-psychedelia who claim Lakeside Sunrise features the very same Roland Jupiter-8 synth that once belonged to their childhood heroes Hawkwind. A2 sees Glaswegian duo Delta Girls groove onwards with some rather nice dubby guitar-laced beach party vibes

The B-side opens with an obscure nugget that takes things further out there: the appropriately titled Inner Path To Outer Space, an 8-minute voyage through what sounds like innumerable synth patches, fuzz guitar, swinging bass and shuffling drums recorded live at Rimini Psych Festa in 1983 by prog rocker and virtuoso synthesist Claudio Cremonesi ably assisted by the ever-changing line-up of his Gruppo Cosmico. A real gem!
After Cremonesi's sonic mastery the closing track can't possibly live up to expectations and even seems slightly out of place, musically. Half African, half gothic, it's a dark sleazy acid soundtrack to some form of sinister nocturnal perversions, judging by the title. Definitely for fans of weirder stuff....if you like the sound of TB-303s mixed with guitar feedback, tribal percussion, guttural growling () and muted trombones this one's for you.

We here at L A MISSION like to whip out our politics in public. We kinda get off on it. And so we're especially excited to slip you B EANER' s first solo outing on the label . From track titles to sound samples to magazine articles to packaging, this record / magazine / performance package highlights im/migration, the brown experience, and stripped identity. La Mission knows from brown. The collective is run by a crew of devastatingly handsome deviants whose racial identity is, well...it's complicated. We've lived our lives being neither white enough nor brown enough to fit neatly into racial categories. And so we took some time out from our usual exploits (like our MultiDirectional Playground Tire Swinging' orgies and Elected Candidate/Dead Pig/HungerGames slashfic) to focus on brownness. People started talking about cultural appropriation' when Miley Cyrus started twerking. We couldn't throw shade fast enough. But cooptation and exotification runs rampant in all genres of music-including dance music. We here at La Mission feel pretty fucking awkward about it. We've seen queerofcolor culture turned into whitedudebro business ventures. And as brown folks with stripped and fragmented identities, we're never sure of what culture is ours to use and abuse, anyway. Can we honor our own roots if they're messy and broken When we're inspired' by the music of other cultural groups, is that solidarity or stealing Nothing we have is whole. We can only work with the fragments we have at hand, well aware that there's unfinished business... BLACKMOUTH is the live version of the classic soul/disco sampling house tune. Take the work o f o t h e r s w h o c a m e b e f o r e y o u a n d t u r n i t i n t o a d a n c e a b l e j a m . G O T B L U E S u s e s t h e w o r k o f a b l i n d 1930s blues bongo player to form a weirdo repetitive rhythm tool: another example of using a forgotten artist for one's own gain.

Luv Shack Records is kicking off the year 2015 with release # 15 - another blissful split EP, this time featuring Hard Ton and Daso, as well as Nick Anthony Simoncino on remix duties. Italian house music lovers Mauro and Massimo aka Hard Ton started off with two releases on Dissident in 2009, and have since then become the go-to production team for authentic acid driven vocal house with a classic touch. Their first track on the EP ,"You Made The World Go Round", is a destinctly dubby slice of vocal house, complete with sultry stabs, piano and a catchy synth bassline. "Keep It Closer", the second Hard Ton production, is a densely intstrumented house track with an array of chord stabs, hovering strings and a powerful bassline - tied together by Massimos intimate vocals.Nick Anthony Simoncino tackles "Keep It Closer" to a darker place, tightly embedding the sparse vocals in a carpet of analogue strings, pads and bells - all driven by a percussion heavy drum machine beat. German producer Daso, who has originally emerged from the german techno scene, delivers two stunningly atmospheric pieces of modern disco on the flip. First there's "I Seek", a dense and ever evolving synth driven disco track, with strong references to 80's pop and italo, whilst easily maintaining an original and modern feel. "Your Room" takes a slightly moodier approach, but still sounds very melodic and uplifting throughout its 8 minutes of detailed synthesizer arrangements.

A Negative Hallucination is an idea that was first put forward by Sigmund Freud in 1890. He used the term to describe how a hypnotised person could be led to be unable to see a person or thing that was right in front of them once out of the hypnotised state, creating a gap in their reality. Sadly, this gap in reality seems endemic in the minds of many in the world, whether from lack of access to facts or from wilful ignorance.
The result is the same regardless: a world where many oppressed peoples' reality is edited out of the conversation. Noleian Reusse (half of Africans with Mainframes) and Thomas Cox (one third of Pittsburgh Track Authority) got together in the studio in Pittsburgh during a week of extreme social unrest in the USA in late 2015, resulting in these recordings. The tracks are crafted with a stripped back electronic funk and a stark, relentless feel that reflects the energy in the air at the time. As long time fans of politically and socially charged music like Public Enemy, Underground Resistance, NWA, Dopplereffekt, and Gil Scott-Heron, Noleian and Thomas have taken these influences and mixed them with their own styles to come up with a modern dancefloor version of those ideals. Lead track Solidarity fills the whole A side with its optimism. Soulful melodies and strings conquer the driving rhythms, bringing a sense that through sticking together, a better future is possible. The B side's perspective is darker. Police State is a crazy raved out banger that combines gritty acid and harsh tones that channel the day-to-day existence for far too many urban people.
The third and final cut, Surveillance, is a paranoid, spacey Techno track that would be ideal as a soundtrack for closed-circuit television video reels. This snapshot of urban life is tied together through artwork by Andrew Burger, whose mix of throwback style and current ideas nails the dystopian existence that is now reality as predicted so long ago by Orwell, Huxley, Lucas, and many more.

Bas Roos on the flip is a newbie and youngster from Rotterdam with a fresh residency at Toffler Club keeping things smooth and mellow with 'Searchin' and 'Don't Let Go The Disco'

Mountain Ash is an alias of producer Lusty Zanzibar. When the track Portmanteau was sent to Uber they immediately picked up this slice of hynotic experimental loveliness. Layer upon layer of emotive synths and a pulsing arp help you drift towards a beautiful climax. Coyote slow the pace a little keeping the hypnotic pulsing arpeggio and add some lazy beachside drums, percussion, a few pianos and Kalimbas creating a beautiful beach bar shuffler..Brooklyn's finest Zoovox create a subtle analogue rework staying close to original but adding their own delicate vibrations. Drift away into the sunset.

Italy's legendary Cosmic voyageur and disco innovator Daniele Baldelli returns for Lets Get Lost! Another double 12' after the classic and highly prized Lets Get Lost 21. Heavy hitting!

'Do You Feel The Same' by Hercules &Love Affair is easily one of the biggest dancefloor tracks of 2014, the powerful vocal and catchiness made it an anthem in its own right. Now with re-works from one of the most celebrated figures in dance music Todd Terry and talented duo 6th Borough Project the record has been taken in different, but equally dynami,c directions. Todd Terry's remix keeps the uplifting dance quality of the track whilst adding his signature style of house that was instrumental in creating the deep/progressive house we listen to today. The dub takes the focus away from the vocal and has more of an underground and tech sound. 6thBorough Project often explore long forgotten funk and disco dubs, and with their remix of the track they manage to keep the disco sound of Hercules &Love Affair's original track, even with the BPM's dropped down to something far more mellow than the original.

Mosco fell asleep and awoke days later with Red Axes. This is their joint offering for the ESP Institute. Dikembe Manutu, the fictional character who's name gives title to our thumping A side,
establishes a lush theme based on meandering steel drums and reverberating toms while a slew of rich percussion leads us through the jungle on a melodic galloping bassline. Once this deep groove gets us rolling, we're treated to a variety of twinklling melodies that float high above. On side B, Rage In The Cage is a true live drum machine jam, full of bleeps, detuned toms, abrasive
cymbals, and plenty of left turns. We can only imagine the mood in the studio as these three old friends frantically smacked buttons and tweaked knobs, creating happy accidents and loving
every menacing moment of chaos as they stirred this cauldron. These two songs will make you thirst for exotic nectars.

SPLIT SECS are a Los Angeles based duo made of some serious local mainstays Travis Kirschbaum and Alexandre Mouracade (aka SONNS). They've put out a bunch of great records over the years on KOMPAKT, JOLLY JAMS, THRONE OF BLOOD. They happen to also be behind the MACHINE LIMITED imprint too. Impressed yet
We dig a good disco jam and these guys love to dirty things along the way which we love. CORDUROY CITY frolics like a drunken sailor who's been lost at sea and find himself cast ashore on a Balearic beach that just so happens to be raging full of sunshine dancers. TELE TONE is one of those lost on the dancefloor moments - grabbing the nearest form of security and holding it tight for the duration...
THE MOLE owns MAYBE TOMORROW so decided to step in for remix duties on the title track - his classy sway is only a tear away from your heart. There's some serious build up happening here.

Following the Avonmore remix EP, Bryan Ferry now collaborates with Leo Zero, Ray Mang, Leftside Wobble and Justin Robertson to release the new 'Avonmore' (Dub) EP. Pressed on 180g heavyweight vinyl and housed in a screen-printed sleeve, this record is an edition of 500.
The Dub EP contains a broad pallete of sounds, scenes and genres which are traversed along the course of this four track vinyl. Kicking off in style with a version of 'Loop Di Li'. Leo Zero's take is sun-kissed and breezy, with trilling riffs and sweeping synths. UK disco-don, Ray Mang then offers a more pumping, groove driven effort that wraps Ferry's unique vocals up in a neo-Balearic cool. Flip over to the B side two listen to two fascinating versions of 'Driving Me Wild', both hosting that lush 80s nostalgia.

A bonafide dancefloor invitation, this classic cut by Chain Reaction was originally released in 1980 on the P&P affiliate label, Sound Of New York. A project between keyboardist Dwight Brewster (of The Imperials) and percussionist Harold Sargent (of Wood, Brass & Steel fame) Dance Freak provides one finest moments in the entire catalog.

There are many reasons why this track is a must-have for Disco DJs. Outstanding percussions; check. Funky Guitar & Bass lines; check. Catchy chorus; check. Brass accents; very welcomed. Using a synth as a percussive instrument; incredible and most likely lifted from the Patrick Adams Handbook 'How to make a hit record'.

In the constant search for new, disco-inspired music, File Under Disco go all the way to Kawasaki City, Japan for their latest release by Max Essa's Jardin Studio Orchestra.

Max has been an Englishman living in Japan for many years now and has deeply emersed himself in the Tokyo underground music scene as a popular DJ.
His wide musical knowledge and skill as a multi-instrumentalist make him a perfect addition to the File Under Disco camp.
And for an Englishman living in Tokyo his music is strongly stamped with that authentic New York disco meets new wave flavour.

On the remix front, current new school favourite JKriv drops an epic dance floor take on Love Beyond with its Chic inspired guitar hooks and big rhythms.

Martin Enke or Lake People as the majority has become to know him has definitely taken his time for his debut album 'Purposely Uncertain Field', given his success from an early stage on and the quick development of the distinctive Lake people sound. But it wasn't until 2012's 'Point in Time' EP on Krakatau that his music became enjoyable for a wider audience.

Thanks to Dixon & Ame and numerous other DJs, who included the tracks in their sets and mixes the 'Point in Time' EP can be considered a big game changer in Lake People's career. Without riding a big hype wave Martin lived up to the increasing expectations with a bunch of EPs, on which he refined his production skills. Following the popularity of his own music, Martin also became a sought-after remixer for such acts as Lusine on Ghostly International or Dixon & Guy Gerber on Gerber's newly found Rumours label. A loyal fan base of his meditative, somehow spiritual, yet powerful house sound grew over the years and made Martin an in demand producer and celebrated live act.

After the fertile collaboration on the 'Uneasy Hiding Places' EP (including the stand-out track 'Brooklyn') and a contribution on the third chapter of the 'If This Is House I Want My Money Back' compilation, Martin has found in Permanent Vacation the perfect home for his debut album. On 'Purposely Uncertain Field' Lake People doesn't fall into the trap of repeating himself or recreating a successful formula. Instead he puts all his musical knowledge and his experience into the eleven tracks of the album and expands his already rich sound universe. Above his straighter dancefloor aspects Martin elaborates his approaches to a certain mid 90's electronica vibe and ambient-like soundscapes with a very cinematic feel to it. Thus he brilliantly manages the difficult task of creating a transcendent and consistent album without losing any tension over the full length.

Liquid Phonk present another truly sophisticated soulful house groover, a fine, timeless release for delicate dancers and music lovers including lush remixes by Henry L & Ingo Sänger and John Gazoo.

Even Brenden is back - after his unmistakable hit with FP046 - Media Vision presents Chmmr true to form. Media Vision is a 12 minute , slow burning syncopating killer of almost Metro Area´sque proportions. Understand and User are more direct, the first more percussive straight up to the floor the latter more piano driven and with a playful 90´s pop edge, but yet again both sport Even's distinct feel for warm sound, on point grooves plus earcatching hooklines. A side brings Rudman's finest house sounds , for this heavy dancefloor produced track, but in the same time moody and balearic , with a strong synth bassline that easely took control of the vibe and transformed it to a strong dance effect.

Classic disco-soul jam from the short lived Larry Joseph Project, a diggers delight from 1983 that gets a much needed re-issue. The original version of "You're The Best" is up there with anything else of the era's finest moments such as by Chic or Sister Sledge or even Gwen Guthrie and there's a handy extended mix too for the heads. On the flip we also have "Irresistable" which is another soul funk-boogie jam that's so wonderful that the title suits it just perfectly.
