At last! The full 12:45 John Morales mix of this underground boogie classic gets the proper vinyl release it has always deserved! All those Discogs cowboys can now safely crawl back under their stones! Replicating the original 1982 12", except this one doesn't fade out a minute and a half before the end. The original flipside is present, only this time cut at 45rpm for higher audio resolution. Available from 14-07-2017. This release is (I think!) the first time all twelve minutes and forty-five seconds have been pressed on wax (in an ultra limited quantity) so don't miss it, Steven!

After being one of the many standouts on the 'We Are Opilec...! Vol. III' compilation back in 2016, I-Robots' 'Glamouflage' is now getting a full vinyl release with artwork by Tomozo Kevorkian, who was designer for NYC's Body & Soul, and remixes by a standout team of producers from Japan to Switzerland to South Africa and the USA.
Opening up the EP is a fantastic new Take II version from label boss I-Robots, who added exclusive Chinese vocal samples recorded on the streets of Huang Jiang City many years ago. The track is inspired by Ennio Morricone and Supermax and is a loose and infectious groove with brilliant drums and percussion and an elastic bassline that really gets you moving. It's a subtle update to the original—also included here as a bonus cut—which itself is a steamy and tropical sounding groove.
Swiss electronic pioneer Schaltkreis Wassermann then features on a version of the original that reaches for the cosmos with its rugged bass riffs, tumbling toms and busy, ever evolving groove. It has a big breakdown with exotic synths wandering through the night and oodles of effects and big guitar licks.
The first of the remixes comes from Kuniyuki Takahashi who has been a big supporter of I-Robots since 2000. He is a sound designer from Japan who had a compilation of his works put out by Music From Memory back in February. His version is laden with cosmic synths and chants, grunting and organic drums and is sure to be massive this summer thanks to its open air vibes.
Detroit's underrated but vital Gary Martin is the boss of the Teknotika label and his version featuring Colten Decker playing an unusual sax line shows another side to the Motor City. It's a curious and mysterious tune that makes for an unsettling atmosphere that keeps you locked throughout as it snakes along.
This is a fulsome package that brims with character and sunshine vibes and is sure to make its way into plenty of influential record bags this summer.

The RÜFÜS juggernaut has shown no signs of slowing down with their debut album, ATLAS Woah.
Featuring the much loved singles 'Take Me' and 'Desert Night', ATLAS' debut at #1 is a testament to the band's passion, work ethic and DIY approach to music. A labour of love, the album was written, produced and recorded by the band between two studios they built themselves - one in a remote farmhouse on the NSW south coast, the second in a hollowed out water tank under one of their parents houses.Their sound cannot be likened to any other act - *
An album of many highlights...****½ - The Australian
Australian indie-dance juggernaut RÜFÜS are poised for a worldwide breakout. The trio has already release four EPs, put together a string of remixes and gone on multiple sold-out tours of Australia... nobody can deny their infectious results.

Straight out of underground Paris and right onto Pinkman's Broken Dreams arrives Myn. The Public Systems label boss follows up a debut track on his own label with a poem about gloom, desolation and anger written in native machine language for the Rotterdam imprint. The A stanza describes a 'Mental Outburst' with punchy lines written in raw percussion and disconcerting 303 work. Following a line break, the B stanza changes the meter from 4/4 to pummelling broken beat in a piece about power and dominance titled 'Black Rose'. The Violent Poetry concludes with yet more deathly rhythms and spine-chilling verses in 'Core Collapse'.

Your Lost Property is ready for collection. The mysterious series of Reduxes, reworks & re- versions continues.
Wild rumours abound about who is behind them, but it seems likely PBR Streetgang may have something to do with it, that or ghost of Walter Gibbons, we can't be sure...
From the obscure and rare Proto electro gem "Endo" to the Adriatic, windswept euphoria of "Rimini Cruising" and then a sultry, spacey one night stand that is "Hott in the City" .
On the flip, the classic re- cut of "Do It Yer Sen" it's vocal message ringing as true up on the bleak moors of Yorkshire as it does on the mean streets of New York.
Finally "Say Anything" takes us home on a wing and a prayer, a perfect end of the night record

It seems like the Italians are well and truly taking over here at
Freerange these days. Following hot on the heels of releases from Stefano Ritteri and Bugsy we now present you with a brilliant three tracker from Rome-based producer Whitesquare. Known for previous releases on 2020 Vision and Toy Tonics Whitesquare has switched up his sound a little to delve deeper into the world of Afro-inspired electronic house which fits perfectly on Freerange and should appeal to fans of Hyenah, Rancido and
the Keinemusik crew. Title track Traces To Nowhere sets the tone, taking it's roots from the precision sonics and reduced approach of Berlin minimalism but infused with a warm, organic sound palette, resulting in a deep and atmospheric track which is powerful yet understated. Flipping over we have Understand, another hypnotic mood-setter which utilises a repeating vocal, percussion fills and a killer sub bass to create a track which places all the emphasis on the paired-back groove and
subtle detail. Rounding off the EP we have Suivre, a conga-heavy drum tool which mashes up live jazz drumming with a driving kick and echoing vocal to great effect. The sense of space makes this one a winner for changing things up in the mix and sounds fearsome on a big system. Three lovingly crafted
tracks which bridge the gap between Berlin and Johannesburg, bringing a fresh yet appealing sound to please dance floors worldwide.

Here we are for the 4th round of Apparel Wax and a crazy one indeed for all the lovers of the vinyl masked man, a release that expresses 4 different nuances of House. Few words are needed to describe the debut of the vinyl with A1 track which is a rarely powerful combination of 2.0 Dance Music and 80's vibes, a proper slap in the face to kick it off! Our unknown DJ then shifts to a more sensual mode with A2, where funky guitar shades and smooth chords blended with the vocals that drag us on a more intimate level of listening to keep on traveling on a lower tone. B side starts with a track guided by weaving Jazzy rhythmics dialoguing hectically with Samba and some jungle environmental recordings, creating a super personal interpretation of Brazilian Jazzy House, while to end up the 4th trip on Wax Planet, B2 blesses us with some more classic vibes with a sharp string's melody and a rich bassline guided silently by a Rhodes piano and some pungent and melancholic female vocals, to end it up in style.

This official 12"" version of Javaroo's super rare 'Breakin' In', has been seductively reconstructed into a sizzling string-laden magnum opus by Gerry Rooney & Joel Martin.
The song's infectious uplifting power is undoubtedly due the high quality of musicianship featured on this vintage Barry Blue production, aided by legendary Quincy Jones collaborator Rod Temperton (Heatwave) and a wealth of top British Jazz session players (John Cameron, Clem Cattini, Mike Moran etc).
'Breakin' In' is a nightclub groover complete with catchy sing-along chorus and luxurious love -unlimited harmonies to keep the dance-floor rocking and the crowd squealing for more!
This is the soundtrack to a private erotic soiree at 'Tramp' circa 1980, where vintage prowlers Joan Collins and Sue Lloyd hunt for the stroke of a Stud only a Bitch can handle - Satisfaction guaranteed in the Sanctuary of lust!

INigo Vontier delivers the third take of Calypso Records. Inspired by a local mexican tribe called the "Huicholes" or "Raramuris", Vontier delivers three tracks full of hypnotic rythms and ritual chants accompanied by Dreems on remix duties. To begin the ritual, "Wirikuta" will take you to a higher state of consciousness with Huichol chants and horns. As a wake up call "Marakame" will hit you in the guts with a straight forward drumbeat and sharp synths. "Maxa" does the work for a mental trip with chants that comes and go with psychedelic guitars on top. To finalize the ritual, aussie wizard Dreems comes with a more foward version of "Wirikuta" that somehow mix a new age feeling with the tribe vibes.

Yoruba Records is ecstatic to welcome back Hallex M with our latest release, the 'Oggun EP'. Kicking off with the title track, Carlos Mena lends his voice to give praise to Oggun, the warrior-protector Orisha, in this low end heavy and celebratory groove. Slowing things down a bit, 'Lhasa' is a more subtle and relaxing cut, teasing you with a beautiful piano melody and funky bassline. Nickodemus gets to work with his remix of the title track 'Oggun'. Giving this a treatment with a thick and stubby bass, this mix takes things to a deeper territory appreciated by discerning dancefloors. We round out the EP with 'Show You The World', a laid-back love song featuring the warm and inviting vocals of Gabriele Poso. Once again Hallex shows his prowess in crafting emotionally intelligent dancefloor tunes; we hope you enjoy these as much as we have enjoyed bringing them to you!

" After his initial release on World Unknown records way back in 2011 - a tunethat featured on Andrew Weatherall's Ministry Of Sound 'Masterpiece' 2012 compilation - Kalidasa has also released music via Magic Feet and Tusk Wax. This latest release sees him ploughing along a similar musical line. 'The Mirage' and 'Sun Aki' are both tracks for those who like to chug-along to the more refined, no frills tunes that do exactly what they say on the tin. Both are perfect spaced out and otherworldly grooves for strobe filled and lazer infused dark basements. Soft Rocks throw around some magical dust on the flip for their 'Sun goes up, Sun goes down' remix which sees them turn 'The Mirage' into a 9 minute time lapse venturing from an early morning ambient start through to a pulsating electronic drive through the stars. "Vive La Musique brings you an official reissue and rework of the unique and highly sought after Zouk track 'Tabala Mouv'. The song is is the standout composition from the ultra-rare 'Tabala' series, released on vinyl in the mid 80s. After many months of searching, label head Aroop Roy managed to track down songwriter and producer, Maurice Agad, to the Caribbean island of Martinique. The 12" includes the original track and two brand new versions, making a special package that many are touting as one of the soundtracks of the summer. In the original, Detroit-esque keys and a Balearic beat captivate you from the opening bars and uplifting vocals and a euphoric horn section combine to transport you to an idyllic paradise. Aroop Roy steps up the tempo and flips the groove for a trademark rework that will have universal appeal to house, disco and tropical music fans. The release is made complete with a subtle extended edit from Truccy. The package is presented with beautiful full cover artwork, limited to the first pressing, which is likely to go very quickly.

The music on this EP was conceived in China, between 1989 and 1993. The original tracks were mixed to DAT in real time, in a small neighbour-proof studio inside my apartment in Macau, a 19th floor with a view to the hurricanes. There's a small, unexpected or improbable story behind each track, some little magic fused with the local atmosphere, certainly guaranteeing their lasting authenticity 25 years later.
TAIPEI DISCO
Late 80s Guangzhou was an exotic city where the traditional past coexisted in harmony with the present and even already with the future.
I'd rather spend my weekends in Guangzhou than diving into Hong Kong consumerism - as most ex-pats in Macau did. I took a cab at the border and travelled 150 Km through chaotic roads with family and friends until reaching the hot, humid, mega South China metropolis.
We ate on street joints in the evenings, went on to a karaoke bar and ended up at Taipei Disco, the only proper club in town. All the others were inside hotels and played generic music or they were seedy, sleazy, smoky cabarets.
Taipei Disco used to be a cinema and played cantonese pop music and anglo-saxon pop/rock (that was new). The spacious dance floor was generously lighted, the atmosphere was airy and modern. Boys and girls were in the habit of dancing in pairs, one in front of the other, observing a respectful yet sensual distance. When the girl took a few steps back, the boy went along and vice versa. With legs and feet (more than the upper bodies) synchronized with the music, they never exceeded in extroversion. Cool.
I always carried a MicroComposer and a portable DAT recorder in my travels through China and weekends in Canton. Any spontaneous musical idea was imediately recorded and memorized. The MicroComposer allowed multitrack recording, which was very handy on the road. Based on the emphatic choreography of Taipei Disco's dancers, i started to compose a rhythm track while sitting at a table, with headphones, listening to Cantopop in the background. As if by magic - not a rare occasion in music - everything began fitting together. Odd as it may seem, the track ended up sounding more germanic (Kraftwerkian) than Cantonese pop.
The story ends in a circle: the cantonese DJ at Taipei Disco, whom i used to ask to play certain records, wanted to play my music at the disco when it was basically only just a rhythm track and little else. From a cupboard under his set up he took out a battered keyboard (unrecognizable brand) and invited me to play over the track with the available sounds on the keyboard. The circle was complete, with Cantonese clubbers happily dancing forwards and backwards, as if it were another Cantopop hit.
I didn't get payed but the house offered us free ice cream cups in which little Portuguese flags were sticked.
The track would be finished later, in studio, with vocoder strings ensemble and synth solos.
TAIPEI DISCO (LIVE)
The live version of 'Taipei Disco' was recorded during a live set at the China Pop venue, in Macau, 1993. China Pop was a rock club built in the ample space of an old fishing warehouse, located in the labyrinthic Inner Harbour area. It was decorated with large Mao Zedong and Cultural Revolution posters and memorabilia and had a unique atmosphere, fusing Pop Art with film noir. We began our performance at 1AM, pretty early for Macau's nightlife standards. We were lucky. An audience showed up. And in Macau there were always several friends among the audience, which tranformed a musical performance into a relaxed party.
The atmosphere was particularly surreal on that night. The front row was dominated by French Crazy Horse dancers, a sort of Oriental Moulin Rouge. The girls had finished their last performance of the evening at the Crazy Horse and were still energized from their show. During our performance, right in front of us and perfectly synched, we could hear the famous irreverent screams of can-can dancers. You always had to expect the unexpected in Macau.
RED MAMBO (IMPROMPTU)
I was familiar with the Portuguese-speaking African countries well before having lived in China. I found myself returning several times to one in particular, always attracted by its magic and very distinct, identitary culture and music: Cape Verde.
During the early years of DWART a lot of the inspiration for drum machine rhythms (Roland's TR series) came from African music, especially from new musical trends that gained full autonomy with Cape Verde's independence from Portugal, as was the case with funaná.
I had the privilege of having known and befriended some of the greatest Capeverdian composers, musicians and singers during the 70s and 80s, such as Bana, Luís Morais, Cesária Évora, Paulino Vieira, Chico Serra, Tito Paris, and historical bands such as Bulimundo (ambassadors of funaná) and Os Tubarões (great innovators of morna, coladera and funaná, with the sonic impact of an afro-beat big band).
When Luís Filipe de Barros began playing Os Tubarões for the first time on Portuguese radio, that was the turning point for African music in Portugal. The 'Tabanca' album was so widely heard and talked about that it quickly got a Portuguese release through one of the big labels of the time.
The mystic of this band from the Santiago Island would reach the East. Os Tubarões played to a packed room in Macau in 1992, and after the bombastic gig we arranged a dinner and party at my place.
We ate and drank generously and the moment came for a jam session at the small studio on the 19th floor. Because Os Tubarões didn't all fit in the studio, we recorded an impromptu with only three of the musicians: Tótó Silva (electric guitar), Mário Russo Bettencourt (bass) and Zeca Couto (piano). And there we were improvising without barriers, suddenly detached from cultural roots, labels and constraints, a truly unique moment. The track is now being released exactly as it was recorded, imbued with the real communion between the musicians. And it could only be titled 'Red Mambo'. I wish to dedicate it to the memory of Ildo Lobo and Jaime do Rosário, founders of Os Tubarões, sadly and too soon departed from the land of music.

If you've seen his video for Thump, you'll know that Jaz and his works are weird, wrong and wonderful: in a word, the ethos of PTP is alive and kicking in this release. First up, Geisha chugs along in the cosmic dust of 80s synth assortments and flourishes of koto. Scatter-brained brilliance from the deepest of Osaka basements. A2, Move to the Beach, heralds a sleeker, sleazier side to Jaz's episcopal offering.
It builds itself out from a latent groove that ushers in the end of the night, carrying you to the empty seafront just before dawn, where a breeze ruffles the palm trees as you dig your eyes into the moon. Turning the page, we have a rework from the same post-Kraftwerk heritage, but this one is more potent synthpop roller, a straight-up, no frills edit for the toughest of dance floors.
The final track, Twin Theory, is a lofty affair from the outset, its arpeggiated bass holding the track to ransom: it is playful yet very serious, sublime and sarcastic. This is what Passport to Paradise are bringing to your homes and dancefloors. Don't miss out.
