Ben Rau has been steadily developing his unique twist on modern house music over the past few years via his Inkal and Meta imprints with heavy hitter support across the board from Seth Troxler to The Black Madonna.

Recent times have seen Ben expand his sonic palette with a rework of Roy Ayers' classic 'Holiday' for the BBE imprint, tapping into a more soul-infused house style as a nod to the original.
Here we see Ben return to Inkal with a new two-tracker and leading is title-track 'Gravity' which shifts focus back to raw, swinging drums,dub chords , driving bass and intricately processed modulating synths, all laid out over eight minutes in a dynamically unfolding fashion.

American tech-house pioneers Omni AM and techno don Casey Hogan gave birth to Bunker Scraper in a clandestine recording session in a NYC basement studio deep underground. These now-infamous studio sessions were fueled by keg stands, mountains of pre-legal weed, and intensive striped bass fishing expeditions in the world-renowned Long Island Sound (not a micro-genre). Facilitated by legendary DJ/Producer Alexi Delano and NYC label/Record Store Sonic Groove, this highly anticipated collaboration was originally released in 1997 to much dancefloor and critical acclaim, and grew to legendary status in the following years.

Bunker Scraper (Omni A.M. Mix) opens proceedings, tight, infectious percussion underpins a deep rich b-line, while eerie synths interplay over the top, it's no wonder this track has become a staple in the sets of Villalobos and Raresh over the decades. Next up, 'In My Time of Flying' was a staple of Omni AM’s early post-Key live performances, swinging percussion, heavy bass and an addictive chanted vocal reflects the duo’s departure from ambient techno and shift towards more dj-friendly four-on-floor grooves. Written in Chicago (1996 or 97), it was performed and recorded live, straight to DAT, outdoors in the forests of Northern Michigan – all in one take, no edits, no overdubs. This bold production style was typical of Omni AM who began life as a live PA.

Over on the flip Casey Hogan's mix of Bunker Scraper picks up the pace with rolling bass shaking percussion, whilst retaining many of the original's parts and character.

Lastly this gem of an ep has been further enhanced by the inclusion of additional, never released before versions, most notably 'In My Time of Flying' (Live at Sassy...ss 1998), another special live jam, recorded at an unforgettable Winter rave that takes the track into whole new otherworldly dimension.

These super rare live tracks give an insight into Omni AM's unique performance and recording process in the early days, and all have been remastered with love by Lawrie at Curve Pusher.

Mr Jones is back from a trip down memory lane, digging in deep to bring you musical funk for the mind, body and soul. Picking up from where we left off, we take it a step further into more ambiguous, emotionally complex territory. After all, these have been trying times, haven’t they?

We begin with the hauntingly familiar melody of ghostly lovers who meet through generations in “We’re The OGs (Original Ghosts)”, and then we traverse to “Papolino’s Journey Into Hyperconscience” - the italo soundtrack for the end of the world. For the flip side, we live a tale of separation turned into soul-inspired electronics in “Ancestral Love”, and we end with “Let’s Start Again, Shall We?” - a groovy synth conversation that swings into introspection.

TRBO’s sophomore release adds another chapter to an unfolding story of inspiration through nostalgia. We will meet again in the future.

On the flip, Santiago Garcia unleashes a swirling synth heavy remix of Stones & Bones – ‘Masambe’ starring the wondrous Mpumi on vocals and finally Jonathon Kaspar hits with a pad-laden trance channelling remix of Emmanuel Jal’s – ‘Loje Bome’ to round off this stunning 4th sampler from MoBlack.

Two Slovak guys, Filip and Tomas, half a world apart, connect Prague synthesis through Filip, with melodic elements that unlock the connection with Miami based Tomas, who feeds in the Spanish laced, sinuous South American percussion grooves and synth bass lines. After years of creating concurrently, their blood bond remains strong through reverberations of rhythmic frequencies. This EP arrives as a purely underground record in limited edition as proof of their enthusiasm and heritage to the art of electronic music. The EP features a track with Sensoreal, the avant-garde mentor and head of the Slovakian electronic music scene.

Hector Couto and Roberto Palmero finally drop their solo debut EP on Noir - two real house cuts !

Italian producer and Be Free label head Jäger makes his debut on Underyourskin Records with a haunting 'Mystical Journey' that turns out to be a playful minimalistic techno approach in the beginning, before evolving into a dark synth driven and more techhouse dominant tune gaining its dancefloor eligibility with a heavy baseline. Louis Kolben, part of Agents of Time, takes on the technoid approach to create a wobbling stomper that could easily tear in any location it is played at. 'Mizar', the EP's second track, partly connects with regards to content to 'Mystical Journey' but focussing merely on that dreamy aspect that claims its listeners and leads one to a state of trance. Steffen Sonnenschein builds up the track slower to delay its peak that hits heavily when the synth sounds are let loose and set the pace throughout the end.

Four sides of frisky, twitchy tech-orientated grooves, spacious enough to be pliable, desirable DJ tools in the mix but embellished with enough melodic frills and spills to work under their own steam. 'What Are We Going To Do?' kicks off proceedings, with a rhythm that owes a bit to the skippy US garage energy pf Todd Edwards or Roy Davis Jr, stripped back but with a slinky bassline and mysterious mutterings voices adding additional atmosphere. 'Free' operates under similarly slanted syncopation template but counters it with echoing dub effects. 'Want It' and 'Colour' populate sides three and four, a little more low key but still steady, solid club tracks that should warm up your public nicely. Constant entertainment.

Watergate’s emphasis on the finest emerging talent continues, with the label debut of GLOWAL.

The Italian duo arrive on the imprint with a fine pedigree, having landed stirring releases on Innervisions, Afterlife, Sapiens and Diynamic all in the last 18 months. They similarly impressed during their maiden WG club gig last October on the Waterfloor. The four-tracker ‚Night Queen’ masterfully manages to eschew a familiar club sound for something alltogether uplifting, nostalgic and captivating, courtesy of their powerful arrangements and strong leads. The title track is driven by ‘80s synths and pop sensibilities, while owning enough low-end groove to propel a dancefloor (or home rave set-up). ‘Moment’ provides just that; a shining jewel of a track, dying to be played at that delicious end-of-night moment, as Simon Batten’s soaring vocal bring the collective masses to their proverbial knees. ‘Enigma’ is characterised by a robotic vocal that slides over sparse drums and a languid synth hook. ‘Antenna’ is a multi-faceted trip that combines synthwave melodies, pulsating electro chords and a slick rolling groove that keeps the track interesting from start to finish.

Phonica White returns with two extended cuts from their mainstay artist Iori. Monsoon & Rainfall mark Iori's 5th contribution to the label and it may be his best yet.

Monsoon on the A-side is a deeply hypnotizing piece of dub techno that's destined to cause dance floor destruction. Steady kicks & toms open the track up before a relentless downpour of intricate percussion and low-end stabs lock you in for the track's 10 minute duration...definitely one for the long nights in dark rooms.

The B-side is a calming contrast to the A side storm. Deep and meditative, Rainfall comprises sparse modulating synth keys coupled with a bouncy rhythm section and airy spaced-out sound effects that create a dreamy atmosphere.

Handy Records returns for round two with another obscure electro flavoured EP. This time from the illusive, East London dwelling; Adam Curtain. Known for his own imprint ‘Troublemaker’ and his analogue heavy productions which dance between broken electro, huge sound design and cheeky melodies and rhythms. We are excited to have him up next with his offering for Handy Records. Teaming up with ‘UTTU’ Club’s very own DJ Haus for the remix duties this time round, it’s sounding rather naughty.

Opening the EP we have ‘Escape Velocity’ It’s a clear nod to the bleeps and bass scene of Adam’s native Sheffield stomping ground. A fusion of a paranoid electro-esque beat flecked with bouncing acidic squelching bass, ominous synths and mesmerising vocal hooks that dip in and out of the mix keepsit flowing. Following on we have; 'Pressure Point', from the go this is a weapon of a track, the creeping bass that sneaks around and follows the alarming leads. Minimal madness but also full and sonically curious.

On the flip we have 'Ratchet', bouncy baselines galore, reminiscent of 2007-10s darker garage and bass era and late 90s electro. Heavily syncopated rhythms, distant soaring synth lines and a 2 step beat make this an absolute gem of a production. Perfect for the nasty side really. 'Doping Scandal', another nasty one for sure. Adam’s characteristic haunting synth lines and squelchy bass notes flow endlessly over this clean and well thought out beat. With interesting synthesis and vocal cuts when needed. An excellent tribute to the music that shaped his youth.

Stepping up to the plate and offering us his take on Adam’s work is one of London’s finest, none other than DJ Haus. Taking influence from Adam’s synthesis and smashing it through the digital wonder machine that Haus’ has recently finished developing; the ‘Data Dump’. Haus has given us a slice of sonic madness for sure. Playing around heavily with the sounds of the original and applying that Haus touch, this one is sure to tear any dance floor up.

For the jubilee of the 10th release on Questo, labelhead Francesco Ballato brings together some friends of the close environment for a „Various Artist“ compilation on vinyl and digtal. Mandibula, Stoga, Senoo and Bee Lincoln in collaboration with Francesco represent diverse aspects and musical components. which unite groove, melody and danceabilty for maximum enjoyment.

Side A1 features a cooperation of long-term groove brothers Francesco Ballato and Bee Lincoln. „Daddys Choice“ was born in a jam session and re-edited to serve a full bass load on a summerlicious track. Smart percussion pattern give a nice fluff as a compensation to slant and humorous synth sounds, embedded on positive sphere vibes.

Senoo, who already released on labels like Tzinah Rec., Baile Musik or Whoyostro, comes up with the title „Baby loves Sour Diesel“. An incredibly groovin’ tightness pairs with a deep flowin’ sphere and makes this track super-functional on the floor.

Flip the side and here we go with Stoga, who is in charge for the latest release on Questo. „Arrived“ is a warm-shakin’ and well-tempered tune with a theme-like melodic synth. Ready for open airs.

Freiburg-based Heimatliebe artist Mandibula takes over the warmth and adds a slightly driving rhythm in „Feeling Frenzy“. Known for his affinity in sound aesthetics of generating moods with synth-based elements, he does what he can do the best: an extraordinarily intense and mind-blowing tune for the clubs.

Louis Fitton debut Kilopascal on Omena is an excellent proof of his ability to deliver forward-thinking music with a fresh and experimental focus.

Sometimes less is more and even though not every track on this release contains drum programming it feels complete.
All the tracks flow well for listening purposes and live performance and Louis shows a unique sensibility and approach to electronic music throughout the EP.
When it comes to remixes, Finland's best kept secret aka Saine has delivered several memorable moments including for Omena in the past. His take on Tides is a dubbed out house version melding house with more abstract techniques.

Bio:
Louis Fitton AKA Louf discovered electronic music from going to Leeds and frequenting clubs such as Wire, meeting longtime collaborator Tom VR with whom he coefounded Valby Rotary, a label focusing on the emotive side of club music. Alongside his various releases on the label, Louf has put out EPs with Thirty Year Records & Silver Bear Records.


Already he has received support from Ben UFO, George Fitzgerald and Gilles Peterson whom Louis worked with at Worldwide FM.

His sound is inspired by a combination of influences, spanning back to sampling for hip hop beats as a teenager, through minimal house and dub techno, to his recent interest in synth and ambient music.

Mak & Pasteman finally make it to UTTU, something that has been in the works for a while, DJ Haus launches a new off-shoot 'Dancetraxx' for the occasion and here we are with Volume 1. Two tracks, a Deep House number and the crazy cool Garage inspired T2000'. Fresh from their release on Lobster Boy which is out this week.

Arranged at the border of Dub and Progressive, this EP intones a relationship between the old and new like a chess game. Featuring a 3 tracker belonging to Greek mastermind: Mikael Delta and label boss: Kirill Matveev with an undeniable timeless quality. This is for sure one of Mixcult’s finest crafted and most important releases up to date, bringing home an eternal classic and two new “gems to be” themes.

Side A brings one of the most expected releases ever for Mixcult Records. This unreleased anthem appeared as a mysterious track on Hernan Cattaneo’s “Sequential” compilation, back in 2006. The track “Baboo” in which Mikael Delta exteriorizes a florid, unidiomatic and over polite form of language through sounds comes out as a highlight of fine-crafted, ahead of time progressive house cut. The unfazed pads, slow drip loops and profound voices of this peace are just an exceptional and sophisticated soundscape.

Side B1 features Kirill Matveev’s “Citron” which can be the cherry on the sundae for a peaktime house display. The track includes experimented arpeggios with some tweeked out acid sounds that layer perfectly with his signature dubby basslines.

Side B2 has a very heartfelt and ethereal theme, which can result as the perfect ending. “Pegasus Himself” by Kirill Matveev looks for the memorability and becomes the perfect tool to finish a night with the proper melodies.

French old school head Seuil is next up on Cartulis Music. This man has been around for some time and once again he hits the spot on this strong release on Cartulis Music. 4 cuts that fit into many moments. From peaktime to after hours and everything im between. Special appearance by great friend of the label LeLoup on one of the tracks too! Bonus!

UK label Wisdom Teeth closes out 2021 with a synchronised double drop from label heads Facta and K-LONE.

Having retreated to more low-lit, pensive territories on his debut LP, Blush, In Bloom marks Facta’s headlong return to the dancefloor. At its core, In Bloom is a house record, albeit one bearing all the usual eccentricities of a Facta release: bleeping off-kilter melodies, glitching FX, warped subs and fizzing neon synths. Up top, C Sequence follows on from 2019’s Doves in exploring a future-facing and experimental take on mutant tech-house. Centred around a writhing, modulating FM bassline, the track undulates and builds gradually to a soaring mid-section before collapsing back in on itself. On the flip, In Bloom drops the tempo to a dubby stomp, with a reversed synth hook playing out over ricocheting chords and a phasing, blown-out sub line.

Now that his excellent free-to-download new double album, Stories From Sa Talaia, is out, HOSH is busy releasing the tacks from it on separate EPs. They come on the Ibiza based Diynamic associate's own fryhide label, and after part one comes part two with four more essential tracks.

The first is a collaboration with Tim Englehardt and is a supple track laden with emotive synth patterns. It has beats that rise up and down and take you on a trip to the outer edges of the galaxy. Then, Ocean Data is an eight minute deep techno opus with watery pads, a spacious atmosphere and icy hi hats driving things along as you get swept up in the groove.

On the flipside, HOSH links with Lehar and they come up with the brilliant O Fratello Mio, a driving track with physical drums and warped synth sounds. It is filled with subtle effects that add dynamism to the moody groove and again features some magical melodic sequences. Last of all, Fighting the Deamons is a dark and late night track sprinkled with cow bells. It's for heads down dancing on intense floors and closes out a perfect second EP.

Prolific London producer Lxury returns to the Lost Palms catalogue, this time with his second-ever solo long play - a honey-dipped journey through the rainbow colours of house music and its adjacent styles.

Living up to his name, no room is spared in Lxury's careful curation of full-bodied soundscapes which make for a truly immersive listening experience. Emotion-laden melodies and glistening pads grant permission for shameless self indulgence, whilst flickers of cooler, harsher tones add dynamism and depth. At times, this sounds like anthemic melodies, reverberating claps and sunshine-doused pads ("Motion" and "YT Storm"); at others, like mournful female vocals which are chopped and looped beneath a shuffling drum pattern ("Get Down On"). Elsewhere, highly-processed flutes and video-game-esque samples transport you to a neon speedway ("Ninja H2R Flyby") before industrial-sounding textures and down-tempo rhythms ease things to a blissful close ("Ride"). No matter where it is that Vivid Night Experience takes you, playfulness and warmth are guaranteed: two descriptors which have become synonyms with the Lxury's musical output.

A collection of through and through breaks, things kick off with the 'Roll Mix' of the title track 'Life Signs', in what is an instant head turner as breaks grooves kick in dominated by rattling snares and deep pulsing bass. 'You Must Not Be Me' follows suit, if not on a more melodic tip as the breakdowns are carried by echoing melodic patterns and billowing synth pads.
On the flip, the tone is lowered as the lights go down for the 'Bleep Mix' version of 'Life Signs', this time around a more eerie approach with clashing melodies and harder hitting drums. 'Recollection' acts as the perfect come down for what is an intense listen as ambience takes a hold for the final four minutes.
