After exploring some of the UK’s house music heritage, Late Night Burners’ reissue offshoot Still Burning struck gold closer to home; the Dutch have always been adept at crafting club sounds and Marcel Franke’s contributions are no exceptions.

Between 1992 and 1998 he was moving freely between house, progressive, trance, and techno under various guises leaving behind a trove of serious dancefloor 12-inches. One of these was “Tinnitus” released in 1995 under his single-use alias Timelock, containing four menacing party cuts straddling ravey house and deep techno. The Late Night Burners guys took two of them, had them faithfully remastered for the modern dancefloor from the original DATs, and added two remixes; one by the label bosses themselves and one by Youandewan, who has had the original record in his bag for so long it only seemed fitting to ask him.

The first compilation from the new How High label, featuring some of Tokyo's finest artists! Tokyo-based DJ/producer Ryokei's How High party label has released its first compilation single! The artists on this compilation are Takashi Himeoka, a core member of the Phreak label who releases on Cabaret Recordings and Binarysound, Tokyo based DJ/producer Hisashi, Chatty Chatty Mutants, Riku Sugimoto, who also releases on the H24 label, and label stalwart Ryokei. With a background in tech house, electro and minimal, all of these tracks have the funkiness and precision of dancefloor savvy, but are also
very DJ-friendly. This is the first release from a label that's been around for a long time!

Scott Ferguson came to house and techno in one of its most fertile grounds - Detroit, in the mid 90s. Since then he has served up his own take on the timeless genres on a range of quality labels. Now he arrives on Chateau Chepere with four more of his stylish cuts. They are couched in deep house as always but with cues taken from future jazz, garage and plenty in between. These are real winter warmers that will seduce an early evening crowd or lock in a 5 am dance floor in equal measure.

Enshanté! The long overdue comeback of Shan on Running Back won’t disappoint fans new and old. Correctly captioned „Warehouse Vol. 1“, the EP with six tracks isn’t a tribute to the Chicago’s legendary club of the same name (with all respect due and even if that’s almost impossible). Shan’s sixth release for his home town label is rather a nod to all the nameless industrial spaces and places that played and still play a role as shelters and fertile soil for raw and ruff dance music.
More a feeling and a sound aesthetic than a concrete set of rules, you will find ingredients as diverse as breakbeats, rave signals, Italo bass lines, Virgo-esque piano notes (Shifter) and uptempo grooves that all seem to be lifted from an overdriven early nineties mixtape by an unknown DJ: before, during and after the rave.
Especially Abfahrt (German slang for rave) deserves special attention for connoisseurs of proto-jungle Rage house with big stabs and a Reese bass to die for. Works like a charm at any tempo and almost any peak time. Excuse the pun, but please: Join in the Shant!

Swallow this: Part 4 of the Running Back various artists series here and as always, there is no long reading needed: 5 tracks by 5 different producers with different backgrounds and experiences. All somehow fit together and paint a bigger picture between remodeled deep house techniques and floor mechanics.
Yungruzt feat Eluize opens the dance with the emo-house poem Starlight. The young man managed to deliver a transcendental masterpiece that is best used for coming up - or down, if you will. A Human Connection is being made next by Baldo. Imagined and made for high times, the Barcelona mainstay applies a tried and tested formula isn’t failing here either: 303 morse codes, break beats and an on going automated voice message do the trick. The man like 9th House goes back to the deep with the yearning and beautifully composed piece Ara, while Tiger & Woods co-author Delphi trades the boogie and disco tropes for heartfelt piano house. Last but not least, new talent Signal Mute pushes it over the finishing line with another tearjerker. Shared joy is double joy!

Hot Natured and Ali Love are set to release one of the most hotly anticipated singles of the year, ‘Benediction’ on 29th October through Hot Creations.

Hot Natured’s last single ‘Forward Motion’ was the seductive summer anthem of 2011. Since then the founding members of Hot Natured, Jamie Jones and Lee Foss, have been joined by Ali Love and Luca C (from the duo Infinity Ink). The quartet has been locked away in writing sessions in Los Angeles, London and Ibiza, with an album planned for spring 2013.

‘Benediction’ is the first track to emerge from this album but its seeds were first sewn almost 10 year ago when Ali first thought of the main chords and concept. Today that idea has germinated into Hot Natured’s lead single. It features vocalist Ali Love’s trademark smooth and infectious tones, driven by melodic keys and that trademark deep, haunting bounce. ‘Benediction’ showcases Hot Natured’s collective song writing and top-of-their-game production skills to full, potent effect.

First heard on Jamie and Seth Troxler’s recent takeover for Pete Tong on Radio 1 and played at Hot Creations’ night Paradise at DC10 in Ibiza all summer, ‘Benediction’ is an irresistible and infectious crossover hit. It demonstrates exactly why Hot Natured and their Hot Creations label have become the go-to names for unrivalled disco-tinged, addictive house music with ‘quality’ stamped all over it. Also featured here are a blowout dub of ‘Benediction’ and a stupendous remix of ‘Forward Motion by MK… what a package!!

Ellum Audio mainstay Raxon is back with two more of his cosmic techno wonders.

Raxon hails from Egypt, is Barcelona based and has risen through the ranks with a well crafted and emotive techno sound on labels like Diynamic, Kompakt, Cocoon and more. Last summer he played huge parties like Resistance Ibiza at Privilege as well as festivals like DGTL. Though he has made big moves in recent years, Raxon has been deeply involved in the scene for more than two decades.

Characterful opener 'Loop Machine' is a dark and playful tune with loopy vocals layered over a rolling drum beat. The pixelated synths spray about the mix and the whole thing is destined to make the club bounce as one.

The excellent 'Love Lapse' has a retro feel with its 80s synth chords and widescreen astral atmospheres. A busy bassline does plenty of work to keep things moving, while turbulent blasts of synths and prickly percussion add vital texture to this late night jam.

These are two more forward-looking and evocative tracks from the ever on-point Raxon.

After a sick intergalactical party on The Archivarius dancefloor, Antam records is back with an afterparty friendly 5 trackers.

The Italian duo delivers a deep journey through sunrise infused groovy techno cuts. Antam creatures are set to relax in Saturn with these full emotion tracks. Perfectly balanced to get in shape during the morning good vibes before going back to the exploration of space.

The latest Still Hot release comes from label boss Benny Grauer himself. The release is called "Move On" and contains 3 original tracks and a great Gorge remix.

The two originals "Move On" and "Harmonic Resonance" are groovy deep house tunes, carried by stabs and chords and a deep bassline. As a DJ, Benny Grauer likes to play Detroit and Dub-Techno, which also influences his productions.

Gorge has produced many very successful tracks in the last month. He gave Harmonic Resonance his own melodic style.

Friends of the black gold can already look forward to the deep and dub-influenced track Interference.

House music icon Kerri Chandler unveils his first album in 14 years, Spaces and Places, a global celebration of club and sound system culture, meticulously created by the New Jersey producer/DJ over several years on location at twenty-two of the world’s most distinguished nightclubs. Each track built on the spaces individual relationship with Kerri, often through decades of live shows or appearances, and in the process capturing unique rhythmic and emotional nuances.

Written and performed with a temporary studio on the centre of each dance floor, this jaw dropping 3 x 12” album in a stunningly designed tri-fold picture sleeve complete with hand signed A2 poster insert (first 500 only), showcases Kerri at his finest. Taking in never before heard tracks, versions and mixes separate to the four samplers that preceded it, this incredible body of work and concept has seen the album submitted for two Grammy awards.

As one of dance music’s most respected and authentic figures, Kerri Chandler is a true originator of his genre, with an impeccable discography and signature sound to match. “The first time I stepped into a nightclub was with my father as a child. I saw the magic of what a club space could sound and feel like as my Dad set up the DJ equipment at The Rallye Racquet Club. Hearing the power of those huge Altec Lansing "Voice of the Theater" Speakers and Horn-loaded JBL subwoofers fascinated me! In the late 80s, I was spoiled sonically by playing on several Richard Long Sound Systems around New York and New Jersey. This is why ever since I first ventured away from home, I have been infamous with my soundchecks at any space I have performed in. I make sure, with the help of the engineers in these “Spaces and Places”, many I have known most of my career, to get the best from each system. Each sound system is unique to each venue, even if it's the same type of gear, because of the physical space. And when you add the right audience to that specific nightclub, it comes to life! The club owners and engineers were gracious enough to let me take over each club and turn each venue, into a recording studio. I wanted to express the love of what could be possible in capturing my productions in the venue, from the heart of each space, right on the dance floor and I translate it onto this album, which I created over the course of 4 years and 24 venues later. I hope you enjoy this journey as I have. I present to you: "Spaces and Places".

Dance music's prolific Italian-born London-based sharpshooter Riva Starr set to release fourth artist album Curveballs via Adam Beyer's revered Truesoul Records.

Riva Starr has been shaking up the world of dance music with his eclectic and unpredictable palette of sounds and styles for over a decade. Over the years, he has racked up numerous accolades and achievements including releasing 3 acclaimed albums (If Life Gives You Lemons, Make Lemonade in 2010, Hand In Hand in 2013 and Definition of Sound in 2016), having a myriad of single/EP releases on some of dance music's most established labels (Snatch! Records, Hot Creations, Relief, Crosstown Rebels, Dirtybird) and amassing an impressive remix resume of artists including; Audion, Groove Armada, Dennis Ferrer, Usher, Estelle, London Grammar, Fatboy Slim, Reboot and David Morales.

Apartment returns with a release exploring 3 facets of house music all inter-connected by the vocals of UK Soul & R'n'B singer, Greg Blackman (BBE Music). Steve Legget's (Four Hands, Claremont 56) original Believe Mix, the catalyst for the project, is an expansive 10 minute-plus journey through wistful dub lead by Blackman's soaring vocals. On the flip Mark Hand (Signals From The North) delivers a re-working; sculpting a beautiful, sun-kissed masterpiece featuring drums and percussion by Darren Moore alongside Hand's inspired playing on the Rhodes and Moog. To close out the release NCW finally makes a return to APT and subsequently gets lost in the DMZ pitching and twisting Blackman's vocals over a pulsating, bumping house banger.

Love Manifesto, our 3rd vinyl only release, is Robert David's artistic expression, and an introspection in the meaning of Love. What is love in all it's forms, how we accept or deny it, how society can change the meaning of it and deform it. This is a very special project in which the artist crossed over the realms of sound by creating a painting that was done in paralel with the original tracks, absolutely with no intention of becoming the cover of the project. But somehow it fitted perfectly. With the Minimal and the Romanian sound being at the root of the project, the 2 remixes from Argenis Brito and Macarie, complete the picture and the trip in which we invite you to dive in and hopefully enjoy the "madness" of it, as we did.

Berlin based Spin Desire is returning with its second outing. Welcoming the debut release of Ukrainian based producer / live act from Odessa : victor.b Victor has been making waves with his live sets for the last 2 years and this is his first full length release. We are more than happy to have him on board with this amazing record. Four trance infused tracks designed straight for the dance floor and cut directly from his live set!

In the very depth of Rummelsburg the one has arisen. And his name was Franzis Skanner. Him and his accomplices are meant to change the world. Forever.

June 17th marks the launch of AVENUE 66, a new imprint from the ACID TEST camp. A dark acid laced house cut with vocals by EBONY UGO backed with a remix by Ukrainian producer VAKULA, who provides a dreamy lush remix and "AUSET", a monster head trip made for dancefloors and headphones alike. Dope!

SoHaSo continues their summer sampler series. Again, the Utrecht based record label brings you some forgotten beauties from the past. Mostly from the Lowlands this time. Perfect Virtue by British trio Shi Take is one of those gems. Tribal house rhythms from 30 years ago, with a bassline that makes you want to wiggle all the way to the center of the dance floor. SoHaSo label head honcho Nuno had been playing a demo of Tools for Fools by Dutch producer Sluwe Vos for years, when he found out the energetic rhythm track never got a proper release. Well, now it has. Flip over for some more forgotten Dutch house history. Jibaros is a project from dance veteran Eric Cycle. It has all the elements that made house music from the lowlands so good in those days: percussive beats, a decent baseline and good melodies sprinkled on top. It's a layercake of sweet stuff that just keeps on building. Very pricey on Discogs nowadays, but luckily Cycle still had the original DAT-tape lying around. Nozem is a bit of the odd one out. It's actually a project by a young dude from the south of Holland but it sounds like he stepped into a time machine which warped him back to the 90s. The vocals (in ancient Greek!) are from Sister of Iris. Closure track Tinkling Sensation by Delta (Alex Dijksterhuis) is more than 25 years old. With it's fast-paced rhythms this piano driven tune could well be something post-progressive from Scandinavia. But this is the real deal. Uplifting rave music from the days people were still carrying fluor sticks.

‘(Still) Searching’ has been released first as the debut of Andre’s Best Works Records in 2009. 11 years later the new and improved version that we are playing since a while still gives us the same feeling it triggered back then. We started a lot of club sets with ‘Still Searching’ as it has this long, steady and discreet build up. As soon as Nathalie Claude’s voice jumps in, the room always fills up with excitement. This never stops as the track just keeps on creating more energy as it goes on and the great mixing and perfectly sounding percussions made us fall in love with the track even more, version after version. As good things come to those who wait, here we are. With two originals from Andre and two beautiful crafted remixes from New Jackson, our home grown artist Shiffer.

Sex Tapes From Mars second reissue drop comes through more contemporary, tighter, and cleaner but not lacking the grit of its predecessor.

The baseline alone on Electromenager’s ‘Sunny Side’ on the right dance floor, on the right sound system, it’s enough to end any rave. That’s meant in the best way possible, how do you follow a track with such precision yet drunken mania all at the same time. The synths echo Hitchcock’s scariest movie shot in the 60s, while the drums make you more than aware while simultaneously deranged on this outer planet destination this new label takes you to.

Staple selector and producer Youandewan takes it to even further afield galaxies on the flip. Tribal drums and morphing samples, conjure free party energy, with the top end in the sky and the low end firmly rooted in expertly crafted club-ready transgression.

The last remix by Huerta comes earnest and precise. Less low-swung and more f**k off. The baseline is simple but absolute. This is squishy, mushy, dirty dance music.

One for the books, collection - this is one for the heads.

Colin Chiddle’s Art of Dark releases its 11th EP. Italian producer Matthias returns to give his 2nd to the label.

Timmo follows up his debut Drumcode release 'We Beat On' with a brand new 4-tracker packed to the rafters with his own unique blend of techno. His productions are getting plays from the likes of Adam Beyer, Joseph Capriati and Richie Hawtin amongst others; 2017 is set to be his biggest year yet.
Timmo's unique sound has captured the eyes and ears of many highly revered techno DJs around the world and his 'System' release is a stark reminder of exactly why this is.
'Intensify' is a big room record that is set to do some real damage on dancefloors worldwide.
This peak time tool thumps through 7 minutes of power, dragging you in and throwing you out the other side as the track rolls on.
'The Maze' is an example of his excellent production, with his use of synths on a level that some producers take years to hone.
'System' is a haunting track, authentic four-to-the-floor techno that screams in to top gear right from the off. The release closes with the more groove and bass line laden 'Together'.

After a string of down-low digitally released techno experiments to his name last year, Malmö artist Emotional Ty takes it down a notch for the first vinyl output, leaving room for ambience and thought delivered on four tracker

Another juicy vinyl from Positive Not Happy, releasing the third ep signed by label owners The Lumens. The title track “Milosky” starts as a high voltage electronic club groove typical of the duo, developing on a straight subtle bassline with airy arpeggios and contemporary acid elements. On the remix task, none less than Federico Molinari delivers a surprising electronic funk gem filled with plenty of synths combined in a top-class cosmic jam. On the B side The Lumens include in the Ep their very first studio joint, “Krember” is a solid spacy track lead by an addictive acid phrase and lush pads for a sure massive crowd reaction. Turin’s rising talent Denaila remixes “Sunrise”, completing the pack with an impressive raw minimalist cut.

We celebrate 12 years of publishing with a new series, to mark a new beginning with the same musical quality as always. We present "Chileans Are Playing" - a collection of 180 copies by volume, only on vinyl without digital promo, ideal for collectors and selectors where we reveal in each edition the best of the new school of Chilean producers.

Shall Not Fade continues a tradition of marking its anniversary with star-studded compilations; for its sixth year, expect no less. Including tracks from long-time affiliates like Harrison BDP, Subjoi, Black Loops and Felipe Gordon, as well as new faces to the label like Cinthie, Kessler & Barry Can't Swim. The compilation brings out the genre-spanning, globe-trotting ethos at the core of Shall Not Fade.

The three disc vinyl package shines a light on the various sounds and styles of Shall Not Fade. Disc three merges the sound of sub-label Lost Palms, as well as Shall Not Fade's "classic cuts" and "killer cuts" series, featuring a label debut from Parisian producer Tour Maubourg, ahead of his full EP out early next year.

With nothing but exclusive unreleased tracks from a phenomenal range of artists, the Six Years compilations shows off what makes Shall Not Fade tick and celebrates the label's ability to constantly explore new trends.

A recent signing to Watergate Records, Biesmans delivers an inspiring indie disco work, capped off by a remix by Fideles.

The Belgian-born producer, live act and sound designer has crafted a nostalgia-driven delight; ‚Trains, Planes & Automobiles’ is brimming with retro synths and digi stabs, reminiscent of a Pac-Man session.
Heavy with bottom end punch, Fideles deliver a stellar breaks interpretation of the original, which kicks with plenty of sentimental spirit. ‘Save The Night’ is a gem, uplifting keys, swirling layers of synths and a hook-ridden vocal sealing its impact.

Just in time as the world starts to slowly reopen, Italian trio Omar Akhrif, Donald and Mago present XIII 004 with a fresh mixture of minimal, house and breaks. London trio Duowe & Picasso put their heads together for four heavily tested and highly refined club cuts of the highest order. Truly nugsy stuff and some of Gene’s most played tunes of the last 12 months.

An artist who will need little introduction amongst our seasoned followers, Bogota producer Felipe Gordon is back with his seventh label release. Natural Born Climber EP sees Gordon continue in the same jazz-inflected vein as his previous EP, boasting his talent as a multi-instrumentalist and dexterity in combining textures to make an infectious whole.

The EP starts as it means to go on. "The Love" cruises along an irresistible groove, oozing sex appeal and at times tickling the ears with a classy jazz piano. "Da Ghent Life" is about funk. A bass guitar meanders beneath skippy percussion before giving way to a soul-stroking saxophone breakdown before "More Than Grateful" follows suit, maintaining the uplifting tone. Finally, the title track sees the EP at its most ravey. It's impossible not to move to "Natural Born Climbers" 's piano-stab melody and Detroit-inspired vocal chops.

Bang! Superfiction Recordings is back with label bosses Italoboyz and Blind Minded joining forces once again, + 2 sublime remixes by superhot Mexican new kid Sakro, and legendary house music French Maestro DJ W!ld.

This record, once again, offers a wide spectrum of Superfiction's music taste, encapsulating minimal house - tech sound - deep grooves, all blended in a fresh and modern way.

Nuron makes a spectacular return on De:tuned with a compilation of hidden treasures! Nurmad Jusat aka Nuron / Fugue, one of the originators of the UK emotive techno sound, went on a quest for archived material and unearthed a handful of DAT tapes with previously unreleased music from the early to mid 90s. The tracks offer a deeply melodic and unique masterclass. With music promotion being what it is across the board it is refreshing to see labels keeping the focus on the music rather than wild artwork and overplayed promotional campaigns. Wsntme that has popped up from the underground with an aim to keep the spotlight on the music and not so much who produces it and thus removing any sort of bias form the listeners ear.


For the first EP there are two heavy hitters to choose from. B1 jam ‘Rghtdoe’, a crunchy groover with tight shuffling drums and deeply penetrating bassline. Filtered vocals from a certain Rapper roll over one and other adding serious attitude until the mood is lightened considerably with the emergence of the looping string section first made an appearance in the 70’s and has played a part in electronic music since. It doesn’t hang about for long and as quickly as it emerged it is gone leaving the pristine beats behind.

Flipping back over to side A and ‘Mryjn’ is a much more moody, muscular workout. Elongated bass tones and synths are drawn out alongside the pitched down musings of an unknown artist that certainly was not suffering from writer’s block. The inviting paddy synths envelope the lower end of the track frequencies like a warm blanket while the filtered noisey drums kick in all the right directions.

"Cassandra" is a super deep and hypnotic cut that opens with a thumping kick and silky-smooth pads, with the techno innovator teasing out delayed vocal-like synth phrases that lock the listener in before a huge sub-bassline lands. Dozzy focuses on these main intersecting elements which gradually evolve, topped off by rolling drums and razor-edged hi-hats. Also on the release is "II," a slab of experimental sound design that swells and retracts, gurgling away to nothing and topping off an essential new chapter for the peerless techno craftsmen.

Capricorn aka Dutch producer and DJ Hans Weekhout originally released the '20Hz' 3 track EP on R&S sub-label Global Cuts to much acclaim.

A record that was literally everywhere in '93 and still rocks any club today, '20Hz' is undoubtedly an all-time anthem with it's combination of rolling, thunderous drums, glacial marimba-like melodies and a tense trance inducing atmosphere that literally lifts the dancefloor to another place. 'Didn't I' is also a proper old-school peak-time stormer, it's uptempo, dripping in positive vibes with sampled soulful vocals and chopped up drum breaks all encapsulated within a real rave sensibility. Closing out the EP we are treated to 'For The Soul, Body & Mind' which is a much darker, deeper and menacing vibe than the previous cuts. More in line with the earliest fringes of jungle, hardcore and bleep tehcno the track takes us on a journey into the heart of the night with it's bass heavy and intricate sound programming and breakbeats, proving that Hans Weekhout was an extremely versatile and open minded producer. Overall, a truly classic and essential EP from the heyday of European house and techno that still packs a punch today!
