Golden Teacher was born in early 2013, when members Ollie, Laurie, Rich, Sam, Cassie, and Charlie gathered at Glasgow's legendary Green Door Studios and packed seven cassettes with raw, rhythmic improvisations. These instrumental sessions, dubbed Green Door Disco Band (or G.D.D.B.), were a covert prologue for the band's infectious and hallucinatory dance music. Originally issued via cassette on Golden Teacher's own Akashic Records, this vinyl edition compiles G.D.D.B.'s most commanding moments for an explosive re-introduction to the band's emergent boogie.

Golden Teacher's method was simple: Pack the studio with instruments, position a tape recorder on the floor, and then just go for it. Whenever the vibe was right someone would hit record. The members swapped instruments at random, mutating across primal electro-disco and swirling, psychedelic house. Jerry-rigged rhythms breach the delectable fry of tape hiss. Melodies dissolve into throbbing ambience as percussion lurches in and out of focus. The band achieves a contagious blend of hazy atmospherics and crystalline frequencies that suffuses each groove with club-level delirium.

G.D.D.B. captures Golden Teacher's kinetic genesis, transposing the dynamics of their freest and most elastic live performances onto plastic. As an exclusive bonus, the album is offered with or without a companion cassette, compiled by the band from two live performances on February 2nd, 2013. Side A is Golden Teacher in classic dance floor motion; Side B documents a baffling reinterpretation of Ludwig van Beethoven via abstract electronics. The tape is only available from House Rules.

Scored by three former members of GOBLIN in 1982 (Claudio Simonetti, Fabio Pignatelli, and Massimo Morante), the synth driven score makes it's definitive and expanded vinyl debut. Unlike the soundtracks that Goblin had previously contributed to the films by Dario Argento, the music of Tenebrae incorporates heavy electronica and dance music blended with rock and disco elements for a unique hybrid of genre and composition style.
Extensive usage of early analog Roland, Oberheim, and Moog synthesizers and drum machines paired with electric bass, acoustic drums and piano were utilized by the wildly talented progressive rock trio to form a sonic template unlike anything offered before it.
The soundtrack has gone on to garner a wave of popularity by being re-released and remixed many times over.

Originally from West Yorkshire, but now resident in Manchester, composer, bassist and producer Phil France is probably best known as a key collaborator alongside Jason Swinscoe in the Cinematic Orchestra, where he co-wrote, arranged and produced on classic albums including Everyday, Man With The Movie Camera, Ma Fleur and also the triple award winning soundtrack for The Crimson Wing nature documentary. In 2013 France released his debut solo album, The Swimmer (GOND016), an emotive, epic record influenced by the great second wave of film composers including John Carpenter and Vangelis, as well as minimalist composers such as Steve Reich and Philip Glass

Five years later, France presents the follow up, the enigmatically titled, Circle, which again represents a very personal journey for the artist. For France the album is an extension of work he began on The Swimmer. A process he has described as: " blocks of sound containing intricate minimal arpeggiated patterns and electronic textures that develop and shift in subtle, original and melodic ways. The trancelike quality, mood and electronic character of title track Circle led France to think of the circular patterns which eventually became a potent concept for the album. "Ideas and fashions repeat themselves in cycles. Events are said to travel 'full circle' and this is important to me because it represents my own recent personal and musical journey after 15 years touring as bassist and composer with The Cinematic Orchestra. I consider circles to be a strong symbol of unity, strength and inclusiveness and ultimately I've aspired to make something beautiful with those values at its heart".

The album opens with the title track, Circle, built on a minimal looped pattern with melodic embellishment and shifting additional harmonic textures. Bells was developed from the arpeggiator and offers a nod to the melodicism and atmosphere of French electronic music. The Jackal features an idea originally developed for The Crimson Wing score but which finally bears fruit here. Cathedrals features an improvised intro, Philip Glass inspired organ and vocal textures inspired by the work of Colin Stetson. Finally, the album ends with a reprise of Circle this time featuring layered pianos. But it isn't the conclusion of the journey, for France: "The Circle is infinite - During the process of making this record, I have been constantly reminded that nothing ever stays the same and that all is in constant flux. The challenge for me is always to respond positively, be aware of and seize the opportunity for progression constant change provides" And it is that sense of movement and flow, but also calm and beauty that permeates Circle and make it such a worthy successor to The Swimmer.

Thomas Brinkmann is one of the great producers of Techno music and modern dance music. He initially gained notoriety in the experimental electronic music and Techno community for his full-length 'variations' of material by Wolfgang Voigt under his Mike Ink moniker, and Richie Hawtin. The variations were made by playback of the original artist records on a turntable of Brinkmann's design, which has two tone arms with separate outputs for left and right channels. The turntables were then pitched down from 33rpm to 27rpm and the results recorded and mixed. Both Voigt and Hawtin were sufficiently impressed they released the results on their own labels. Since then Thomas Brinkmann has produced some all-time classic dance tracks, many of which are collected here in what is a personal selection by Thomas Brinkmann himself. There are unreleased tracks, different versions, and tracks that have never been released on vinyl. A full colour 20-page book with track notes by Thomas Brinkmann and photos from his personal collection is included. Limited edition box. Highly Recommended!

Folamour has worked under a number of different aliases and makes poetic music. As a DJ he has lit up dance floors all over France, and he also runs the FHUO Records label. This new nine track LP is the start of a busy year that promises more music on Church and Defected, all after some fine outings on labels like Fauxpas Music and All City Records. The excellent album is an ode to his love of Japanese culture and mixes up beats and house samples, disco swing and future jazz in ways that work both in the club and your living room.

The warm and musical 'Night of Desirable Objects' kicks things off with loose jazz chords, shuffling beats and welcoming moods that come from smart vocal samples. It's a brilliantly heartfelt opener that makes way for the slowed down grooves of 'Y'all Right.' Trumpets, live drums and gorgeous chords all exude genuine soul and funk, and 'Petit Prince Du Macadam' is an exquisite hip hop beat that echoes the great Dilla.

Elsewhere, 'Ivoire' is a big, afro-tinged cut with bouncy drums and vocals as well as party-starting percussion. 'Look at Me or I'll Steal Your Eyes' then pulls back to perfect loops of funky guitar, trilling chords and organic drum work. Like much of the music here, the loveably rough style of Moodymann is a big presence in this one. French filter styles characterise the sunny disco influenced grooves of 'Devoted to U', 'Oyabun' is a blissed out bit of romantic house, 'Kickflipin' That Stuff' is another gorgeous hip hop interlude weighed down by hot soul and 'Jah Love' is a masterfully melodic piece with splashes of cymbal, brilliant key playing and jazz drums that find their way into your heart.

First off we get "Flecha De Foga" that uses a rare Nazare Pereira samba track as the foundation but with loads of added chords, beats and production details.

On the flip 'Todo Mundo Tem Amor' marries a driving analogue bassline to an amped up version of another Sul Americano classic - blazing !

"When I first started making the drum on my MPC it sounded like a battle of drums I then added some stabs from the machines, trying to make it sound like the oldschool Chicago tracks

Kohib, AKA Øivind Sjøvoll from Sortland in the north of Norway, has been an important part of the club-scene in the town of Tromsø (the birthplace of the Northern Disco scene) since 1997, first as a DJ, later as a club organizer. In 2012, he started a string of dancefloor EP's, and the first one, "Solar Day EP", had a fairly limited distribution outside Norway. So, here is finally a "proper" re-release! The "Solar Day EP" is a rousing four-tracker of superb dance tunes. The selection features prime examples of Norwegian electronic music ranging from nu-disco to slinky house music to downtempo electronica. "So Good" leads the pack with a high charged house music rhythm, fancy bursts of percussion and bass line pulsations, and the appealing vocals of Dagny (yes, "that" Dagny, of "Backbeat", "Wearing Nothing" and "Love You Like That" fame) which beckon the listener to "take off all your clothes and dance with me!" This one's begging for immediate deployment on the dance floor. Kohib touches on more Italo-flavored grooviness with "Don't Tease The Bumblebee" which rides and glides like the flying insect in the title should. A bouncy low end and floating synths add to the cosmic romp. "Escape Velocity" lessens the tempo but fizzles with intriguing elements and melodies. Seemingly plucked synth lines and rolling, reverb-ed arpeggios evoke slow-motion bob-sledding across the Norwegian tundra. The set closes with the eponymous "Solar Day", a mildly uplifting piece withdriving drums, buzzy, throbbing synth action, and more delicious Italo-inspired loveliness. This one builds to a stirring climax and closes the EP in grand style.

Very limited run of 100 white labels with brand new joints from the Wonderwheel crew celebrating cross cultural vibes from the Caribbean to Africa & the global Carnival spirit inside the dance. "Back It Up" from Thornato is a massive West African Dancehall jam featuring Ghanian singer Zongo Abongo, followed up by a brand new one from Nickodemus & famed NYC MC/Singer Jahdan Blakkamore going in deep on a dancehall meets house inna Congolese style on "Living Your Dreams". On the flip, Los Angeles producer Yukicito flips another forthcoming Thornato track "Chaka Chaka" featuring Sierra Leone's Bajah (of the Dry Eye Crew), giving it a heavy & funky remix for the dancefloor. Lastly, Montreal's Poirier comes through with a reversionining of his hit song "Sowia" released last year on Wonderwheel, mashing it up with the Malay Way Riddim - one of the biggest sounds on Soca dancefloors worldwide recently.

'Primitive Trust is the coming together of two experienced musical minds. In one corner is Will Saul of the influential Aus Music empire, and in the other is Tom Mangan, aka Tee Mango, the producer who started Millionhands record and clothing label. The pair met many moons ago and reconnected recently at a festival in Morocco. They bonded over music, lunch and shared family travails - and as they both now live in Somerset decided a little local studio collaboration seemed all but essential. Between them, these consumate country gentlemen have seen plenty a musical styles come and go, so decided their best route forward would be to make music to please themselves. To that end, they holed themselves up in Tee Mango's woodshed studio with the following ground rules: they would make music only with the gear they had (MPC 2000, Ableton, Roland 101, Juno, Fender Rhodes, various FX pedals) they would trust their instincts and go with first feelings they would embrace the joy of randomness if in doubt they would ask 'What would Carl do' With that, you have the simple but effective MO of Primitive Trust. These sessions have resulted in a series of three EPs to be released over the course of four months. Each EP will feature 2 or 3 original tracks and one fresh remix, with unique artwork and an illustration by all-around visual auteur Geoff Mcfetridge. Using the building blocks of house, and classic techno Primitive Trust can do zoned out and romantic, as much as driving and heady, but with an ease that comes from experience, years in the making. While tipping their proverbial hats to the past they also look to the future with their sound, mixing samples, wigged out synthwork and propulsive rhythms to create something honest and heartfelt that will stand the test of time'

London/LA producer Kenny Dickenson crafted his stunning remix of Ned Doheny's "Labor Of Love" to mark the Be With Ned tour in March 2015. The gentle disco re-rub was leaked by influential blogs and has been wreaking elegant havoc on both sides of the Atlantic ever since, setting a new gold standard for AOR remixes. Beloved of everyone who's heard it, we've been inundated with requests for a physical version.
As RedKen, Dickenson came to prominence with his cult edit of Steve Perry's "She's Mine" - an instant hit on the AOR Disco scene - whilst his double A Side Fleetwood Mac 12" with Psychemagik was number 1 across Juno, Piccadilly and countless others, gaining him further notoriety. Here, taking Ned's stellar version and creating new melodies by twisting original sax solos inside out, Kenny's remix is elevated further with the introduction of his sophisticated keyboard work and additional white-hot production.
Completed the day of Ned's penultimate show, Kenny bounded up to Pete Fowler - on DJ duties - and handed him the demo. Ever the showman, Pete played it seconds after Ned finished. Momentarily mortified at the chutzpah involved, we realised we were listening to something sensational. The key element would be Ned's opinion. He aired it the next day, breaking a drained silence as we boarded a flight to Berlin: "There was a remix of my song played last night." Heart in mouth, we were in for a deserved dressing down. "Pretty good, I liked it." And with that, we were determined to commit this wonderful reimagining to vinyl.
After two years of major label wrangling and artist nudging, Be With Records are delighted to finally present this as an officially authorised, one-sided 12". Enhancing the package, the record comes appropriately adorned with striking new artwork from Pete Fowler himself and liner notes from all parties involved. Limited to just 500 copies, these are sure to fly.

Let's face it, summer in New York City is sweltering. Even with all the windows open and fans on high, it is hard to find refuge in Alliance Upholstery's Chinatown offices. Today's sweat though, is due to the Dancer on the Shore' EP, the latest release by the Brooklyn based band, Lemonade (Cascine/True Panther Sounds). Dancer' is a subdued summertime collage of steel drums, buoyant electronic pads and windswept vocals. Joined by Dee Dee from Dum Dum Girls, it is a celebration of the space where humans and nature exist in harmony. Originally released digitally as a single on Cascine in 2015, the band created a DJ friendly extended mix for this release. If you have been to the Air A Dancer' party over the last few seasons, you have likely already heard it (sometimes twice in one night!). If that wasn't enough to pique your interest, the remixes put this one over the top. First, the Jex Opolis (Good Timin'/Running Back) Dub picks it up in his Cutlass Supreme (look at his Kingdom, look at his car) with a full day of activities planned. Top down, wind in your hair, cooler full of ice, spf a million, this is Eddie Grant approved dub at beach. Think California Style in Long Island. After sundown, the Whatever/Whatever (Justin Strauss and Bryan Mette) mix builds a bonfire in the dunes. Hard hitting drums and soaring synths make this mix perfect for dancing all night and howling at the moon. As the night gives way to morning, Jex's vocal remix wipes the sand off your feet, finds your lost t-shirt, and gets you ready for new day.Keep this one in your bag all summer. If you can't make it out to the Rockaways, this is about as close as you can get.

Formed in Bermuda in 1968, The Invaders are responsible for what is arguably the most sought after piece of Island Funk in history, their lone long player, 1970s Spacing Out. Full of funky breaks, Meters-esque guitar work, and tripped out horn lines, Spacing Out is not simply collectible because of its exotic locale, it is a stone funk classic that holds its own against such luminaries of the genre as The Meters, The JBs, and the Nite-Liters. An absolutely essential piece of funk history available again on LP, and this version won't cost you a month's rent to own.

After the success of Nickodemus' Wonderworld compilation album, we've decided to press a limited edition double 7" featuring 4 favorites off the compilation that have never seen the light of day on wax. First up is the rolling dancefloor cut "Los Tarantos" from Nickodemus' "Moon People" album, followed by Los Angeles producer Yukicito's uptempo reversioning of "Mirage". Tal M Klein's absolutely stomping remix of "N'Dini" featuring Ismael Kouyate on vocals starts the D side, while Nickodemus and Brian J (Pimps of Joytime)'s "Wanted Man" gets a skanking treatment by Nickodemus to round out the package.

This up and coming producer is already a legend amongst the crew of techno freaks in Brooklyn. With previous releases on local imprint Lovers Rock, and releases slated for Proibito and Exotic Dance under the the aliases DJ Python and DJ Xanax, DJ Wey aka Brian Pinyero has contributed a massive 12' to BANK Records. The A Side Song for Masahiro' is dedicated to Masahiro Ueda, a DJ and friend who graced the BK scene by way of Japan. It's a bass heavy tune with melodic pads floating in the forefront amongst the occasional cheering sample. It's perfect for either opening or closing a set midsummer. In contrast, the B Side opens with Flow On.' With its distorted kicks, relentless claps and hypnotic bells one could imagine hearing it on a nightmarish carnival ride...fit that into a set. The record ends on an electro tip with spaced out pads, backwards samples and classic electro style drum patterns. Distinct in sound and diverse in approach, don't sleep on the homie DJ Wey.

One of the foremost innovators of scratching (and the creator of the word "Turntablist"), DISK not only remains one of the most technically soulful impressive scratch DJs in the world today, he has also single-handedly expanded the musical sensibility of scratching, allowing for an instrument that was traditionally relegated to the background of hip-hop to be re-considered as a powerful and modern tool of musical expression. If Jazz has its Miles Davis, then Hip Hop has its DISK. Born in San Francisco in the 1970's DJ DISK first discovered the idea of Turntablism by manipulating an old wooden turntable consul in his parents living room. DISK continued his exploration with his "instrument" and by the age of 11 was competing in SF DJ Battles and was a rising star of the underground San Francisco hip-hop scene. But it was not until the early 90's when DISK, pared with other embryonic turntable greats like DJ Qbert, Mix Master Mike and Flare, formed one of the most important and influential Turntable "Groups" in the history of the genre: The Invisible Scratch Piklz. This vinyl has the classic sounds to cut with. Extremely limited, all original beats by the Grandmaster himself DISK and a collectable as for all fans around the world. One time pressing.
