Continuing the trend of spotting new talent, promoters Huntleys + Palmers is back in business with a big release from the talented Londoner, DrumTalk.

Like his label counterparts, Auntie Flo, SOPHIE and Alejandro Paz, 'Time' is a track set to be popular across the board. Our limited focus group who roadtested this winter came back with positive results: James Holden played it TWICE in his recent Panorama Bar set and Jackmaster featured it on both his Boiler Room and Mastermix. Not a bad start.

From East London / Berlin basements to the shores of Croatia and Ibiza, expect to hear this everywhere.

In recent times, Phantasy have provided the soundtrack for many adrenaline fuelled nights and hazy mornings with critically acclaimed albums from Daniel Avery ('Drone Logic') and Connan Mockasin ('Forever Dolphin Love' & 'Caramel'). Their latest discovery Ghost Culture emerges from the shadows to make the space between those two worlds his own. Since announcing his arrival one year ago with a debut single 'Mouth', the London based artist has built up a feverish following with a further pair of ear catching singles.

This trio of sell-out releases, each pressed on 'invisible' vinyl, offered a glimpse of a rare talent whose music was just as at home in the club as it was in ones bedroom. Now Phantasy, are proud to present his self titled debut album, a collection of ten tracks rich in emotion, musicality and sonic artistry.

Their debut 'Dogs' took the Beatport Deep House Charts by storm. With their second EP 'Jack' the Vienna-based duo HVOB fuel the anticipation for their forthcoming debut album. In 2012, a young duo from Vienna proved to be one of the great success stories of Europe's electronic music landscape: HVOB (short for 'Her Voice over Boys") only uploaded initial snippets on Soundcloud last April, reached number 4 in the Beatport Deep House Charts with their debut EP 'Dogs", number 10 in the Top Live Acts of the Year and number 11 in the Best Singles of 2012 in DE:BUG's readers' poll, while performing live at festivals such as Germany's Melt!. Moreover, the year was concluded by a particular honour: the leading Lebanese-French fashion designer Elie Saab chose HVOB's sound for his new collection video. With their inaugural release, Anna Müller (composition, production, vocals) and Paul Wallner (composition and final production) managed to create an entirely new and unique world of sound: HVOB represent intelligent and sophisticated electronic music that is equally emotive and melodic. 2013 kicks off with the release of HVOB's second EP: 'Jack' will be available on vinyl and Beatport on February 22. Here, the duo presents two new original tracks in the form of 'Jack' and 'Moon", while one will also find two prominent remixes of 'Jack". The Berliner DJs Niconé & Sascha Braemer weave the original's driving beats and Anna Müller's hypnotic voice into their own sound aesthetic, and Valencia's Edu Imbernon transforms 'Jack' into a dark and forceful deep house track. Especially Edu Imbernon's contribution highlights HVOB's current standing within Europe's scene: the Spaniard, who recently remixed 'The Reunion' by The XX among others, was so impressed by HVOB's sound that it led him to approach the young Viennese

A solitary shed by a lake. Surrounded by woods coated in ice. It's the deepest winter and the Pentatones quartet finds itself in the deserted nature of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern County. They are searching for sounds pulsating beyond instruments and machines. Inaudible Music this is, made sound by them only. By night the four move over the frosted lake, play the clarinet and put themselves in a chilly trance. Months later they will remember dimly these moments in the woods and cast them atmospherically into their album debut 'The Devil's Hand' with icy romance. Highly attentive to details, they have worked on it for 3 years. Since 2006 the Pentatones tinker with their tessellate electroacoustic sound, in whose center the voice of singer Delhia de France is floating. To friends of club music she might be known from her collabs with techno producers such as Marlow, Douglas Greed or Robag Whrume. With the Pentatones she combines her emotional timbre in various forms with the raw basslines by Hannes Waldschütz and the analog and electronic beats and samples by Julian Hetztel a.k.a. Le Schnigg. Albrecht Ziepert creates melodic moods on the keys, whose appeal one can hardly elude. Their kaleidoscopic arrangements dance between susceptibility and experi­ment. Enticing pop structures melt with crackling analog electronics - a mixture laid out to make dance at times, at times to chill. The ambiance of her compositions is gloomy, yet light-flooded in a certain way. It is most notably Delhias voice, which outshines everything, never standing still, meandering and spinning, opening up a new emotional space with every bre­ath. The computer with its infinite production possibilities is used in its function as another instrument. Together with the sampler it forms the center of action, processing everything, from voice to keys, which needs an artistic distancing effect. A contrabass is setting the pace at times, then again the brass accelerates the tracks highly emotively. In stylistic regards their compositions are never predictable. A touch of organic jazz here, a subtle hip-hop allusion there, accompanied by a moving club rhythm structure and Delhias captivating voice, which sings, then talks, and whispers in the next moment.
It's not only the infinite world of sound, which inspires them to their adventurously twisted compositions. For all members being equally active in the visual field, art plays an impor­tant role in the act of creating and in the overall concept of the Pentatones. This is being reflected in their life shows, acknowledged with much applause on festivals like 'Sonne, Mond und Sterne', the 'Fusion Festival' or 'Ars Electronica'. When they sample themselves during their concerts, modify their sound in real time and vividly interpret their songs, Delhia dances audaciously in extravagant, self-designed costumes in haughty reserve and effuses eccentric pop magic. Sometimes she takes the megaphone and by hereby altering her voice, she infuses her music with another exotic tone. With their self-produced videos the Leipzig residents by choice create an artistic universe, which stages the dramatic lyrics of the lead singer in a sublime way. After all they see themselves as an artificial band, operating beyond the conventional patterns of presentation, bypassing intuitively and creatively common pop stereotypes. Twisted-Pop which gets straight under your skin, without ever grooving stream­lined. You can dance to it, lose yourself in it or step into new worlds. There is only one thing difficult to deal with after you enjoyed 'The Devil's Hand' and that's to release yourself from its overwhelming emotional impact.

Early 2012. Requests from all over the world reach Berlin based indie label Sinnbus about a remix made by a certain Dixon. Alright. Sinnbus need to look this up first. And see: This Dixon put a different beat under Bodi Bill's version of the Hundreds song 'Machine' and used it in a mix. Also, this piece seems to be released on a small vinyl edition on Dixon's label Innervisions. Very interesting. They get into contact. Dixon apologizes, he could've let them know at least. And yes, he knows and appreciates the records of both bands and that's why he did these reworks. And especially speaking of Hundreds he takes great interest in doing a real remix sometime. With the proper files. Maybe when the next album is due. If the opportunity arises. They shall keep each other updated. Hundreds in turn have a remarkable time since their debut album was released in 2010. The siblings Eva and Philipp Milner play sold out shows all over Europe and quickly gain international attention. With their music - a haunting mix of cold and distant electronica, dusky songwriting and the captivating, warm voice - the band wins loyal, passionate fans and huge respect from different musical scenes. When the release of their 2nd album 'Aftermath' is due in early 2014, Dixon is immediately up for a collaboration. He only needs to integrate it in his brimful schedule and asks for some time. In the meantime the idea to go ahead and compile a whole EP is developed. Rather reckless and without strategy Hundreds and Sinnbus start inquiring to artists who thrill them. And they're surprised and delighted about the positive resonance. Almost automatically one after another attends to the album pieces and gives them an exciting new form.

LIFE.' Kicking off 2014 with another release full of House, Techno, Afro and Disco,von Erckert presents "Housem 2.0" a sequel of "Housem" (released in 2011), "Jack Ryder", "Planets" and "Me like you" (another cooperation with Muldrow).

Yousef's second complete artist album 'A Product of Your Environment' sets out to paint a technicolour picture of a DJ long player, achieving the goal and in the process easily becoming Yousef's finest work to date. It moves away from the usual process of a beat led project that has become so familiar among DJ's, the album is designed to be listened to from start to finish, a complete work.

Each track escalates beyond club use and into as a composition in its own right, dripping with its own unique element of identity and personality. With full songs, complete instrumentation and a focus on melody the album equally takes time for a sophisticated selection of serious club workouts. While reflecting Yousef's standing as a global dj 'A Product of Your Environment' is Influenced by Yousef's personal history and global travelling exploits yet nodding to melancholic Radiohead and Prince as much as wild moments on the floors and booths of Cocoon, Circo Loco and Space.

Ever since the visionary 2010 debut 'Without You', Art Department have been shaking the music community to the molten core with their psychedelic, bass driven unique take on electronic music. Crosstown Rebels now presents one of the most lauded tracks from their recent opus 'The Drawing Board', heralded by many as album of the year, with exemplary remixes from Caribou's Daphni and the legendary DJ Harvey. The reflective and psychedelic dream world of Footprintz debut LP 'Escape Yourself' is fully unleashed on the Visionquest imprint this March and next single 'Uncertain Change' is one of the twelve glowing examples of the duos' esteemed sonic and lyrical wonder. With a distinct coming of age theme, 'Uncertain Change' is a perfect slice of dreamy synth-pop. Anchored by a powerful bassline, uplifting melodies inflected with new wave nostalgia blend into softly spoken vocals heavy with melancholy as the underlying sense of what it feels like to be young and unsure is ever present. Warped electric guitar strums add to a creeping darkness, but this is kept at bay by an overriding warmth and depth of soul that filters through. 'Uncertain Change' will transport the listener to an age of innocence.
The 'Maceo Plex Reconception' is endowed with the producers signature swing. Tailored for the disco, skipping pendulum beats and a heavier bass beat underpin the in tact phrasing of the original song leading up to a breakdown and powerful bassline drop.

In The 'Audion Loves You Mix' Mathew Dear in his Audion guise deconstructs the song and pieces it back together with an entirely transformative minimal tapestry of sounds. An epic reimagining of sparse electronic bleeps and warped vocals build into a majestic framework of fizzing tension and textured soundscapes. Ultimately remnants of the original melody fuse with Audion's epic groove as the track surges towards an optimistic end.

Top quality remastered reissue of Ike Strong's disco boogie classic Boogie Land. Originally released back in 1981 on the tiny underground disco label Willker, this dancefloor bomb is now hugely in-demand. Both sides are absolute killers - the A side features great vocals from Ike Strong over super funky phat bass and wah wah guitars but don't forget the flip side where the groove get stripped down to the bare instrumental funk with just the relentless driving female vocal 'You can't help but dance when you hear it Boogie land' - she couldn't be more right! Aanbreken is a musical duo, comprised of producer Tim Aminov and singer Gala Ga, who after 10 years of musical exploration decided to join forces in 2013. Now, over a year later, they are set to release their debut EP, Verge.

Influenced by an intrigue with ancient religious rituals, Aanbreken have crafted a hypnotic and evocative release that will hit at the heart for electronic music lovers. Thick ambient, mellow and electronic sounds work as a base for Gala's deep sensual vocals.
The sound is a product of the duo's past in hip-hop, soul, jazz, pop and reggae and makes for a textured release, inspired by a multitude of genres. It acts as their expression of community, brotherhood and anarchistic mood in modern day society.
In 2013 they were involved within the underground music scene in Moscow. From their very first performance together they'd already written the majority of this material. However, they felt the need to add some acoustic instruments. The percussionist Zakk Hemma joined the live project to complement their electronic sound with live drums.
As ideologists, Aanbreken have set about constructing a concept EP, with a defined manifesto guiding their sound. The music explores the principles, character and meaning of 'Action'. As they state themselves, 'every system is a chain of actions... Every order of actions is a ritual. Whether it's originated naturally or created by man'
The sound was intended 'to convey the mood and dynamics of the ritual', as a boundary between point A and point B, a cross-line that divides past and future. With that boundary representing the present

Touch of Class Record's fifth release 'Retox Detox' comes from the musical pair, Tone of Arc, comprised of SF-based musician/producer/vocalist/songwriter, Derrick Boyd and his counterpart, Zoe Presnick. The forthcoming EP features three original tracks: 'Retox,' 'Untouched,' & 'Run Rabbit Run,' with a collaborative 'Retox' remix from label mates Signal Flow & Pattern Drama. Sebastian Voigt, cult leader of Lokee Musik and resident record slinger of the illustrious Salon - Zur wilden Renate presents a four track EP on Renate Schallplatten. The release includes two original tracks featuring different vocalists, plus remixes by Permanent Vacation and Good Guy Mikesh. All tracks were produced, tested and approved in Berlin's favourite madhouse, Wilde Renate. Enjoy... In his own words, Sebastian explains: 'These tracks were made shortly after i moved into my new studio right above the main dancefloor at Renate, where I also play regularly. So saying that the Renate vibes were an inspiration for this EP is a bit of an understatement. The overall aim of this EP (if there was any) was to make music that I would like to hear played in the club. I was introduced to Hllywd through a common friend and when he came down for a first session we just started recording while he was improvising over a track I had been working on. Most of the vocals you can hear in 'Chapter One' are from that first take. The piece with Angela came together in a similar fashion. I had been listening to a lot of 80s stuff like Chris and Cosey at that time, which gave me the initial inspiration for the track. When Angela came to the studio we started jamming together, and a first draft of 'Out Of Sight' was finished that same day.

With a compact production, filled with guitar riffs, catchy melodies surrounded by a haunting bass, incredible electronic atmospheres, his new project 'Stalker' shows his concept of pop music. Memories of people passing by, visions of nights to come. A retro pop approach to everyday 's life. Music with a reason and a meaning by a man of mystery, passion and a brilliant mind. Rinse FM's Sir Spyro is already living his dream, more or less. He's supported Nas at London's immense 02 Arena and survived a stuck deck at Glastonbury. But that's not really what makes him so exceptional, the kind of DJ other DJs dream about being.

What makes Spyro 'top 3 selected' within grime DJs, is his breathtaking ability to take the Pioneer CDJ1000 decks and make them into a musical instrument. This instrument makes crowds lose their minds.

In a club, on his prime time Saturday 7-9pm Rinse FM show or on this CD, Spyro is pure, focused hype. 'The way I select I will select any way, any how. I will mix a tune in the middle of the tune or at the beginning of the tune. ... On this (Rinse mix CD) I just wanted to throw them in the way I wanted to, because that's the way I do it.'

The mix, like his show, navigates skillfully through a blend of upfront dubs, exclusive VIP mixes and certified old school classics taken from the grime, garage, funky, dubstep and bassline canons. 'Yeah it's kind of a good look, because this is the direction I want to be in. It's important because as me being a music man, I wouldn't just like to be in one scene. I'd like to conquer a few things. I'd rather try out other things.'

There's no doubt he's trying new things, but there's one thing quite noticeably missing: an MC. While grime mic men are notorious for their disorganisation, this wasn't a case of MC gone MIA: through this CD and his radio show, Spyro's making a clear statement. As the genre has evolved, the balance of power has shifted in grime towards the MC. Spyro is re-asserting the DJs' rights. 'The DJ can live without the MC but the MC can not live without the DJ. Because listen: I don't really need an MC on my show. Why Because I've got his CD in my CD pouch and I could just play it. In a rave I could just play it so him being there wouldn't really make a difference.' It's fighting talk but Spyro has the musical firepower to back it.
