Mooryc 'Simply' was the opening track of Fenou Bouquet Vol.2 mix compilation last autumn. The Pole who's now living in Berlin impresses here especially with the brilliant vocal part. His track is lovingly arranged and embedded in a harmonious sound collage and the underlaid beats try to permeate everyone with their massive drums. Stop thinking, let go ... the perfect slowing. Dapayk conjures from the dreamy original a floor compatible remix. Said and done - He does it with his relaxed manner and without sacrificing the essential elements. As usual the 10 vinyl release is again a limited edition and numbered by hand.

Catalognumber 23 - what else is to say While we're feeling the spirit of William S. Burroughs blessing this very vinyl-enigma, &ME went particularly mysterious ways to transcend the category 'dance track' for this one.
The meditation through bass had been the major discipline of some of his latest cuts, but what you'll find on this A-side, one could certainly call the perfection of somnambulistic peaktime-fever. The way he's kneading the lower frequencies, how he's channeling the expansion and decay of bass must inevitably lead to some aroused moaning. Good vocal-selection, for that matter! Then there are those tension building synths and a staccato-frenzy in the break that might be the ultimate ecstasy-trigger of the season.
'Locust' on B comes in with some smoothly looped E-guitar-coolness, adding whispering hi-hats and a comparatively rich percussive architecture. But then again: rolling bass barrels like a signature and a defence breaking build up that's ensued by liberating pressure compensation in mighty breaks. Two demonstrations of understated and sophisticated peaktime-emphasis, so to say. Or differently put: a flawless double-A-side.

Portuguese artist Armando Mendes makes a huge statement with his debut album 'Parallel Universe', which was written and recorded over two and half years between LA, London and Berlin with legends including Robert Owens,Ithaka from the N.W.A. crew and Defected's Jinadu.

Armando Mendes is one of Portugal's most assured artists. His rich and musical sound is informed by jazz and funk and he has played all over the world from Russia to Australia, all while picking up more than 80,000 monthly plays on Spotify for his music. His tremendous debut album ranges across the electronic music spectrum from downbeat and jazzy to deep house and electronica.

Ithaka is the guest on the album opener 'This Life's All We Got,' which is a lush downbeat song with pensive lyrics. Late night jazz house stylings define 'Things U Do 2 Me' while 'Acid Yardies' looks to the club with its serrated 303s and dub wise drums. Chicago vocal royalty Robert Owens lends his heartfelt and buttery tones to the perfectly deep 'No Regrets' and after an acid and piano ambient fusion on 'MS20 Interlude' there is more rich, spiritual and jazzy house ('Parallel Universe,' ' Khun Pui - Mae Nam' and 'The Melody Inside') as well as more synth laden and electronic grooves to get dance floors moving ('One Night in Bangkok').

The majestic, percussive and colourful 'Tropical Affair' is just that, then things get tender and introspective on the gorgeous 'Electric 88' before a radio edit of the classy pop house that is 'The Melody Inside' feat. Jinadu closes things out in emotional fashion. This is a widescreen musical journey that makes a lasting impact from an artist who is looking set for big things.

Two great 'Tom Moulton' Mixes back to back! 'SOUTH SHORE COMMISSION' were a self contacted soul/funk band from Chicago.
They released their one self-titled, Billboard Dance Chart No.1 album in 1975 on Wand Records from which comes the Bunny Sigler composed/produced track “Free Man” featuring Instant Funk.

It was recorded at Sigma Sound Studios in Philadelphia. This Tom Moulton mix on “Free Man” was an original feature of the album and is considered one of the first proto-house records.

Jannis & Lean are North Collective. Why North Collective? Because they romanticize cold and stormy places.

Nobody ever took them to the Caribbean. They released their “Nurture EP” in 2016. Dominik Marz got almost the same feelings, even when he is based in Augsburg/Bavaria. With his 12”release “Tryads” in 2017 he delivered a masterpiece for andmusic as well.

He is doing pretty well right now. Together with his dude David Kochs (Only For A While) they have some smashers in circulation. For example: "Bavarian Belter" finds support by Ame & Dixon.

Dominik delivers 2 fresh versions for “Haunt”. Clubby, dark & deep. Perfectly converted into something great. Forever and timeless, we think. Grab one of the limited 12”.

Quintessentials is very happy to present their 50th release! To celebrate this, we invited some buddies to bring the deep beats. And damn they did! Mat Chiavaroli, one of your main artists who is getting stronger and stronger, opens this jubilee release with upbuilding powerful tune, just the tune the get Quintessentials 50 started! Great to see profilic dutch producer Nachtbraker (Heist, Quartet Series) on the label too. We love his style and he will soon be as popular as Ajax Amsterdam! His subtle and dirty "Bronco" fits in perfectly. The definitive club tune that grooves and grooves and grooves comes from Ponty Mython (Dirt Crew). Alexandr is a cool guy and this is defo a cool tune. Last but not least is Soul of Hex (Freerange, Vicario). Our mexican friend is going very raw this time. Yes, why not call it electronic body music (remember)! As we are gentlemen, we added a Quintessentials sticker in the vinyl edition. Go and get it!

On this record Ben Sun presents an old style LP format - 40 minutes of moods and grooves interwoven with an intimate story, of individuals struggling to live freely in a time of oppression. After a sultry jazz opener where the characters are introduced, the LP kicks off with a sweet and slow soul track in Work Again, underpinned by a rotating acid bass. Third comes Salty Tears, the underground disco floor-filler (original limited 12" version) finding a second home on vinyl. Your Camera and Monday usher in some moody rhythms to complete the first side. Sin Casa opens the flip with some minor-blues improvisation that gives way to a spacious deep house jam, where the protagonists emerge again. Still Missing shows deeper shades of a Eurobeat style - an emotionally compelling club tune that sounds somewhere on the Italo side of 1980s Manchester. The story comes to a conclusion with Cowardice, and the casual jazz-house sounds of Maman's Lover. Killer album!!! Recommended.

COLLECTING ORDERS FOR A REPRESS

Amsterdam dwelling editor par excellence Em Vee took the solo reigns on the inaugural Lumberjacks In Hell - and truly excelled with a great reimagination of "Miss You". The second release on the label sees the German share duties with Spanish edit demon Rayko, with the Rare Wiri boss hogging the A Side. First up is an expert rearrangement of Candi Staton's cover of the Bee Gee's standard "Nights On Broadway" which strips the track of its orchestral leanings to focus on the groove! Following this is a meaty take on a classic, with Barbara Keith's cover of "All Along The Watchtower" reinforced with some bottom end bump. Em Vee spreads a special disco version of Alma Lee's late 70s Philly delight "Gimme Your Love" with an extended intro that fully displays his edit talents.

With his 3rd release on 4EVR 4WRD featuring a heavy lineup of some of his fellow Eastsiders, Jon Dixon returns with something very special. This EP features the smooth vocals of Amp Fiddler and Dames Brown and has edits from Waajeed, Jon Dixon and Hip Hop producer Darrius Quince also known as Inkredibeatz

The second release on 4GN3S (pronounced Agnes) is an angular and shadowy 5-track EP by The Golden FIlter. The 'Dislocation' EP is five pariahic pieces paying equal homage to minimal wave, post-punk, no wave, and electro, but retaining Stephen and Penelope's inventive presence. Before 'Talk Talk Talk' became a 2018 summer festival anthem by accident, it was always meant to be the lead track on this EP. Like Siouxsie vs early Human League, but heavier. Originally available only as an extremely limited edition duplate at Rye Wax, 'All The Way In' is a jittery electro beat workout sounding as if Anne Clark were fronting Drexciya. Beatless and odd, 'Dislocation' first premiered on Fort Romeau's Essential Mix on BBC Radio 1. It's Part art-piece, part word association, and part No Wave experimentalism. A mutating arpeggiated bass and an ominous tone drive 'Cut My Hair' into a incongruously sci-fi dark dance netherworld. 'Temple' is classic Golden Filter, with modular bass blurbs, soft vocals, and an 808 beat doused in analog reverb. Dance music to sit in the corner and think to.

Following from Deetron's accomplished entry in to the DJ-Kicks mix series, !K7 are now serving up one of the original singles from it. Produced by the Swiss artist and featuring soul futurist Steve Spacek, it comes with the original and three vital versions. Entitled 'Chose Me', the single is six tender minutes of musical electronic soul. Warm and supple bass, twinkling keys and smeared chords form the atmosphere as Spacek delivers a dreamy and heartfelt vocal up top. It's a track to get the spine tingling, while the Instrumental allows the celestial keys to ring out into a night sky as the main focal point. On the Jupiter Version, the drums are more loose and broken up, lending a spaced out vibe that will be perfect on outdoor terraces as the weather warms up. Jumbled percussion tumbles next to the chords as the vocal soars. A Jupiter Instrumental closes out this cosmic and cultured house EP.

Our planet... IS NEXT! Yes, this is in fact the case, at least according to one Stockholmdwelling, 30-something (wishes-he-was-a) failed pop star, real name Arvid Wretman. Just how he fell from his position as poster boy of Kärrtorp's ever-vibrant noise scene to the pill-popping, Cher-covering discotheque pleaser standing before us today, we could not tell you. What we do know is that Studio Barnhus stands ready to ride that cash train all the way 'til the bitter end! In 1992 DJ Duke came up with a Vocal House slammer sung by vocalist E. Scot that has
since became a club classic, being kind of rare. In 2018 Smile for a while decided to
reissue this gem with a well-balanced remaster by Deep House connoisseur Herb LF,
carefully cut by Schnittstelle in Berlin.
