Will Saul, DJ/Producer and Aus Music label head primes the 150th release for the longstanding British label with a stellar cover of the 1990 seminal techno record of the same name by Yolanda on seminal label Underground Resistance.

With the original record being one of Saul's all time favorites and UR being a constant source of inspiration it was beyond a dream to get his version fully approved by Mike Banks to celebrate the landmark anniversary. Saul then worked with Berlin based vocalist Gilli.jpg - who has recently worked with Cinthie - to re-vocal Yolanda’s song.

As a former intern at Skint in the late 90s heyday, this up-streamed anthem feels extra special finally landing digitally on the label where Saul began learning his trade over twenty years ago. The vinyl will be released on Aus. There is also a version expected later this year which see's Saul collaborate with Paul Woolford and additional remixes by Move D and Space Dimension Controller that will land shortly. The release features artwork by Trevor Jackson, the man behind the Output label, who’s releases launched careers for huge artists like Four Tet and LCD Soundsystem to name just a few. His iconic, pop art influenced work has been seen on releases including the undisputable 80’s dance classic, Raze ‘Break 4 Love’ and S'Express 'Theme from S'Express'.

Fragile X is an exciting new collaboration between vocalist Inga Schunn and producer Dylan Chase.

The group began in 2019 when Schunn posted an iPhone voice recording on Facebook in which she sang an acapella in her native German. Her friend Chase, who was recording and releasing at that time as Caffeine Worldwide, heard the 30-second clip and immediately asked Schunn, at that time only an acquaintance, if she might like to record something. Neither of them realised at the time that the first sessions would lead to a debut 4-track EP that capably references as many styles as most full-length albums from established artists, while also setting a blueprint for a project that could go anywhere from here.

The opening track alone, 'Lifetime', opens with a woozy blend of UKG rhythms and Royksopp synths, before giving way to Schunn's sedate rendition of Daniel Johnston's 'Some Things Last A Long Time'...basically the years 1990-2002 distilled into 5 furious minutes of 5am energy.

Across the whole release, Chase's productions show the same cinematic flair that made his previous releases on French Press Lounge, Third Try and Human Concrete Block must-haves for your late-night record bag.
A2 'Prix' with the kind of R&S attitude that would make forebears like LFO or Lone proud, could be the soundtrack for an illegal outback rave or a sunset drive over a Big Sur overpass.
The album closer, 'Fragile X Theme,” sounds something like if late 90's Bjork was commissioned to soundtrack the movie Hackers with Akai samplers on loan from the Hartnoll brothers.

The whole release may be overshadowed by the B1, 'Karaoke Girl', a track Schunn and Chase wrote in Mexico City in 2019 after a rough night at a Zona Rosa karaoke bar.
Opening with dripping synths as soft and inviting as the last drink before sunrise, Schunn tells a story of a woman who overstays her invite at an intimate birthday party between friends, taking the mic from the birthday girl and singing "Seal, Rush and Kate Bush" with a "death grip on the mic."
It's a bizarre, vivid song for such new artists to have come up with, and the lyrics are underpinned by Chase's equally adventurous combination of Nordic disco elements with heavily treated bursts of Japanese koto.
The Lifetime EP's title is a reference to the laborious process that it took to make the record, with multiple recording sessions across two countries followed by endless edits and a Covid 19 related vinyl slowdown bringing its release to a crawl.
The record itself is a fast-paced, dopamine rush debut that we are proud to share with you as both the culmination of a long process, and the beginning of a strange new story.

Axel Boman’s new single Eyes Of My Mind is a big-room-unifying psychedelic house music anthem and a multidisciplinary, collaborative Gesamtkunstwerk all at once. As so often the case with Boman’s home label Studio Barnhus, the process leading up to this release happened organically, among friends. Axel’s initial sketch (produced during sessions at Future Classic Studios in Los Angeles) was sent to his good friend and long-time Studio Barnhus associate Malin Gabriella din, who found herself obsessed with the track’s steady-fast rhythmics, gently flowing melodies and mind-expanding message. The Stockholm-based visual artist put the song on loop, tarted drawing to the sounds and didn’t quit until 455 individual drawings lay before her. These drawings have been animated to create the video for Eyes Of Our Mind and will be exhibited at stockholm gallery Steinsland Berliner during April 2020. A print magazine featuring 60 of theimages that form the video is also available in limited edition. The magazine, as well as the artwork for the single, is designed by Robin Ekemark, another regular contributor to the visual world of Studio Barnhus.

City Fly return for their 15th release, backed by serious muscle in the form of NY*AK, and fellow contributors Ian Blevins and Mark Hand, who make up the stomping and spectacular Afghan Jams EP. Starting strong is ‘Return’, with a relentless dub techno energy, graced later by soft vocals and euphoric violin strings making for an epic dancefloor anthem. ‘Slick’, with Mark Hand, veers off into a loose, crackly acid trip. It’s followed by ‘Troia’, rounding off side A with an all-out party of flutes and keys over one infectious ecosystem of drums. New York producer Amo, an assiduous beatsmith and go-to force for some of the most eminent names in the game, expertly delivers a stirring four-tracker on Hector's VL Limited imprint. An off-shoot of VL Recordings, the sister label was launched as a platform for timeless releases with the avid vinyl collector in mind.

Flourishing within New York's underground house scene in the late 2000s, Amo's DJ sets earned him a reputation as a distinguished mixer before he hardened his production skills studying Recording Arts & Music Production. Later he'd establish a touring event series, GreenRoom Family, drop EPs on NG Trax, Dissonant Records, Brain On Couch and Underyourseat, whilst gaining support from Guti, Rossko, Randall M and Javier Carballo, amongst others.

"This EP has been a long time coming. I first got introduced to Amo's music via David and Chad over a year ago. We've been swapping tracks ever since. I was really impressed with his releases, thinking he could be the latest addition to the VL family. When Amo sent us more music I instantly picked these tracks for the label, I even played one out last year at our VL stage at Sunwaves. Leading the EP is 'Find Turn', a muted, oddball cut that lands with a woozy top line, propulsive drum loops, and a warbling, hypnotic vocal. 'Spitgame' slams with a bassline intensified by chunky drums. Label chief Hector and Vatos Locos sparring partner David Gtronic seize 'Find Turn' for a rerub, preserving the magnetic pull of the vocal while adding crisp, scattering percussive touches. Amo closes the EP with the spacey 'Whattosay', a moody track that's custom made for those head down moments.

Next up on Nang it is time for a slice of spot-on male vocal house and disco. Liverpool based Thomas Lang made some fine albums in the 80s and 90s with John Murphy (who went on to carve a highly successful career in movie tracks) and David Hughes. Somewhere in between that and a string of recent albums (Torch Songs and The German Alphabet) he also managed to buy one of the finest recording studios in North West England, Parr Street Studios (the "Abbey Road of the North").

We are pleased here at Nang to see a new avenue turned in Tom's life, his first foray into the dance world. "Scared" was written with late Liverpool songwriter John Uriel quite some time ago. It first emerged as a b-side to Tom's comeback single "August Day" in 2011. Here at Nang we always loved the smooth and sophisticated vocal and melody. When Tom suggested some remixes we were on board.

"Scared" is a peak time vocal house track, here presented with remix options.

The a-side sees fellow Liverpool DJ crew The Imposters taking the track on a dubbed out trip, before flipping over for their hypnotic, swing-house rework which highlight the layered vocals and smooth sax. Camanchi take us for some peak time House action.

Marseille local neo-soul patrol Élodie Rama provides the goods with title track H.O.M.E, a soulful vocal number that’s that sip of summer you need in your life.

As usual there’s a run of remixes included, the first coming from Lumberjacks In Hell head-honcho Marcel Vogel, who brings his trademark disco swing to the original.

The second remix sees label co-owner MIMID go in with a pumping dub house version to round off the package.

Psychemagik return with another freash 12 of killer edits, firstly they give Paula Cole's 'Feelin Love' a new dimension by speeding it up around 120 BPM and adding the dirtiest nastiest synth swooshes that'll have even the hardest of dancefloors bursting with sexual tension! On the flip they settle back into Balearic blissed out territory with another sunrise killer, their supreme rework of 'Wake Up Everybody' by Harold Melvin.

Their sparkly live piano solo and tight crispy drums take an already amazing track to epic new heights. Just add Yacht.

For their sophomore album, Chemical Reaction, Galaxians have stripped back the music and pumped up the vocals. Emma Mason's unstoppable voice elevates the group to a fully-formed musical act. This new LP is all about her voice.

Mason's powerhouse vocal on the West End Records-inspired Chemical Reaction beckons you onto the dancefloor. Jed Skinner's bright and breezy synth melodies allow the song to really breathe, whilst Sam Bell's front-and-centre conga groove (straight out of Double Exposure's My Love Is Free) and Matt Woodward's intricate rolls ramp up the track's energy and momentum. The shorter Mama Ghetto Vogue Edit is brought to life by Darren Pritchard, vogue dancer and mother of Manchester's House of Ghetto, who meets a neon wonderland in the electrifying video.

Elsewhere on the album, Heartbreaker champions female empowerment and personal freedom over a pounding boogie groove. It's a tight arrangement which drops into a delay-drenched Levanesque drum break before crescendoing back into a final chorus via one of Skinner's trademark JX-3P synth solos.

On the proto-house funk of Fight For Love, where Emma flexes her vocal chords to jaw-dropping effect, a failing relationship is thrust into the spotlight over a punchy Linn Drum groove. On the silky shuffle of after-hours jam Work It Out, which brings to mind the classic Sly & Robbie Compass Point productions, Emma croons about a lover, her voice cast in a softer, more subdued glow. Heat of the City sizzles with the essence of an urban summer, and is peppered with heart-stopping hand claps.

Third single Horizon sees the band in more reflective low-key mode, and could be their minor hit of the summer. There's some neat drum programming here, intertwined with Woodward's intricate fills and hi-hat playing.

On Not The Money, Mason's vocal shifts to a lower register in the mid-section, bringing to mind Grace Jones at her most commanding.

All in all it's a life-affirming experience, one born out of a sense of community and collaboration. Seven years on from their early explorations Chemical Reaction sees Galaxians retain sight of the principles that make their output, and dance music as a whole, so vital - commonality of experience, singular moments shared by a crowd, and rhythm as the best medicine.

“Vinylmania" Owner Charlie Grappone opened the Vinylmania’s doors in 1978. He opened the store with a sparse selection of Rock records
but after crowds from the Paradise Garage started showing up he realized his market was with the house heads. Vinylmania quickly became the goto spot for house in NYC eventually spawning a record label under the same name and it’s legacy began. Sadly Vinylmania closed its doors in 2007 after almost 3 decades of business.

The first release from Nothin Personal, comes from Melbourne based artist 'Loure'.

House music has always been made from the heart and for the floor. Whilst Loure's music adheres to this hackneyed creed, it exists beyond simply the confines of one particular genre. His jazz-infused, house cuts have found homes on labels such as Delicieuse Musique, Apparel Music, and Slothboogie. An oscillating live performer, Loure can be found in the middle of a flurry of hardware for his solo live shows, behind the platters for his DJ sets, or conducting a full live band setup that is riddled with horns, guitars, keys and infectious improvisation.

Muzik & Friendz purple patch continues, literally, with a purple screen printed vinyl release from Belgian duo Le Babar & Pat Lezizmo 'Last Call' featuring Anano delivers two impressive originals coupled with a heavyweight international remix package making this the 7th outing for the Belgianbased label.
'Last Call' the original mix brings together tight classic house grooves a killer bumping bass line and the sexy vocals of Anano into a house track with real crossover potential. Denmark based Alvaro Hylander's mix goes deep, balearic and full of filtered rhodes, lush percussion with a tribal edge and breaks highlighting the sweet vocals, a perfect bar grooves shoulder shaker.
London based Frenchman Giom plays the ace card in the package with a foot stomping remix full of his own signature drum workout and ability to weave melodies and filtered breaks into a
package that has seen him release on the likes of Defected, Bunny Tiger, Toolroom and top the charts with his own label Supremus. Already tried and tested on his last US & Canada festival tour we fully expect many outings at the closing parties and festivals later this year.
Closing off the EP nicely the piano led 'Move Me' brings an upbeat and old school vibe full of stabs, vocal chops and a lush sax infused break perfect for sunsets and warm ups to boot.

Kurz nach dem Neuwerk "Civic Jams" (u.a. "Album der Woche" bei ByteFM) legt das britische Duo Darkstar eine fantastische Remix-EP vor. Darauf transformiert der katalanische Top-Produzent John Talabot den Keytrack "Wolf" in einen Clubhit mit leichterem Touch, während Loraine James (Hyperdub) eine atemberaubend-spooky Dancefloor-Hymne vorlegt. Der zweite Keytrack "Jam" wird von Horsepower Productions (Tempa) mit 1990er Garage-Snippets im Tempo beschleunigt, während Dwayne Parris (Idle Hands) seinen Dubstep in spacige Weiten auflöst. Talabots finaler Dub dagegen ist eine düstere Post-Punk-Abstraktion als Kontrastpunkt zum Ausklang.

The second outcome on Retrograde signifies the first release of head-honcho Marlon Hoffstadt on his and Natureboy Gold's new imprint. After a short timeout the young Berlin producer presents his new work on this four-tracker in collaboration with Chicago House Music icon and pioneer Paris Brightledge, accountably for releases since 1987 on substantial labels such as DJ International Records. He recently delivered the vocals on Paranoid London's killers 'Paris Dub 1 & 2'. 'Smile' the title track of the EP, highlights Paris' ability to hypnotize the dance floor with his unique voice combined with Marlon's production smoothness. With 'Smile' Paris displays: 'torn from the angst of my soul concerning the tragedy of love and life lost'. 'Smile' got a special treatment by Detroit's very own Kris Wadsworth. His Venus Rx Remix lived up to its name and has some 'pretty nasty analog stuff going on' to catapult yourself right into the atmosphere. The B-side 'Lies' discusses how coming from the streets doesn't always allow feelings to be displayed in life or in love. It's a percussion driven, 303 based club workout. No rest for dancers on this one. Remix comes from label artist Matteo Luis, providing a more synth accented version, introducing an engrossing sound that will be continued on his upcoming RTGD 003. The EP is Paris' and Marlon's first collaboration and we can already promise it won't be the last one on Retrograde. Every copy comes with a full cover artwork by Hermann Reimer.

After the success of his latest release on Tropical Disco Records, Javi Frias is back to his own label Night Shift Records with a new EP of disco reworks featuring four obscure tracks that have now obtained a new life after passing through the hands of the Madrid producer. A side starts with 'Universal Sound' a super soulful disco tune with a house feel, perfect to dance with the hands in the air, and 'On Fire' has that boogie groove that makes you move. On the B side you can find 'Guitar Jam', a little funky number full of nice breaks and superb (obviously) guitar licks and the EP ends with 'Really Need To Talk', an amazing modern soul song that you will not be able to get out of your head in the coming months. Another sure shot release by the owl label!

As certain as the sun setting across San Antonio Bay each night, throughout every Ibiza season there is a record that becomes the track of the summer. This year Roberto Surace’s ‘Joys’ is that track. Championed by legendary Ibiza heavyweight Marco Carola for some time now, as well as island tastemakers Andrea Oliva, wAFF and Joey Daniel, there has already been serious demand for the club cut. Now Defected Records are delighted to announce Roberto’s debut on the label with the official release of this essential summer tune. In the unlikely event you haven’t already been captured by ‘Joys’, its earworm vocal and explosive bassline make it one seriously addictive track set to go stratospheric.

WOLF Music reissue offshoot, Nothing Is Lost, strike gold again with their second release. The four track sampler cherry picks some of the greatest dub mixes to grace the legendary Easy Street label’s hall of fame, reissued and remastered.

Side A serves up two proto-house bombs dubbed out to the high heavens by the one and only Paul Simpson. Firstly, Sleeque’s sumptuous ‘One For The Money’, gets a tougher makeover with Simpson’s classic touches to the drums, echoes in all the right places and delicate splices of choice vocal refrains and piano stabs. Likewise for the A2, Simpson focuses in on that peach of a bassline from Paradise Girls – Holding Back, coupling it with Special-Intention-esque synths and cascading percussive ripples.

On the flip side, it’s a Blaze masterclass. First up, Alexander Hope (aka Josh Milan / one half of Blaze) ‘Let The Music Take You’. Produced alongside Blaze counterpart Kevin Hedge, the track gets the remix treatment from Klub Head – a further alias the two held. Closing out the EP, a onetime collaboration between Blaze and Otis Vick, System VIII’s super soulful ‘Underground (Untouched Dub)’. Josh Milan’s exquisite and iconic vocals marry with sweet sax licks providing the perfect late night groover or, just as equally, the ultimate beachside roller.

Fabrizio Esposito was born in Naples / Italy into a family of passionate musicians and vinyl collectors. His father played guitar in Tony Esposito's band who was responsible for some classic Italo tracks from the early 80's. He spent his early childhood immersed in his grandparnent's extensive vinyl collection which he has since inherited, this collection heavily influenced Fabrizio and made him a fan of Italian Wave, Italo Disco, Neapolitan Funk, Soul and Disco. After all these years working in clubs and with artists Fabrizio decided it was time to realise his other dream and become a DJ and producer himself fusing together his rich musical heritage combined with his clear vision for the future, creating his own unique sound. Fabrizio explains that since he was 14 he had always been behind the scenes of parties, from a PR to a promoter, always watching the djs and producers working to create the party around them. Since this time he has always been an obsessive vinyl collector, its in his blood, so now it's time for Fabrizio to share his own passion for music with the world.

Fast forward to summer 2019, Fabrizio made his Ibiza debut DJ'ing alongside DJ Harvey and Pete Gooding at La Torre and soon after Fabrizio finished his debut track 'This Way' which was premiered by Harvey at his now 'Mercury Rising' party at Pikes

Club of Jacks come correct with the third and final installment of their RAW EP series - serving up another vinyl 4 tracker of essential House & Garage grooves primed for the dancefloor.

Track 1 'Memories' opens the EP with creamy Rhodes pads leading into a pulsing deep house groove flecked with soulful vocal lines, jazzy piano arps and filtered sax riffs.

The second track 'All I Think About' is a soulful groove built around an emotive vocal hook and chugging analog pads for that end of the night vibe.

On the flip side, 'Pressure Sound' switches style to a bassline roller with vintage reggae vocals, swinging garage drums and dub fx combining into a bouncy party starter.

Finishing off the EP is 'Bug-a-Do', a tough and bumpy hybrid acid-garage-house banger. Filtered synth pads merge with a 303 and M1 piano line - a hands in the air new school / old school workout.

All tracks are produced and mixed by Club of Jacks and made to be played loud wherever you like to jack your body!

The Nathaniel X Project is a name that is perhaps familiar to most of you by now. His latest release came courtesy of the wildly popular "My Love Is Underground" record label released in 2010 and then re-released in 2012. Nate's pedigree spans directly back into the thick of the 90's era with a multitude of productions with Vil-N-X on Island Noyze as well as multiple contributions on major releases ranging from house to hip-hop and everything in between. There is no doubting the man's prowess and we as a label are privileged to be able to release a new EP chalked full of his authentic deep house sound. London-based DJ and producer Joseph Ashworth has unveiled his captivating new single ‘Breathe’, out 14th February via Disco Halal. Taken from the forthcoming EP of the same name, ‘Breathe’ showcases Joseph Ashworth’s emotive, atmospheric brand of electronica. Featuring the delicate vocals of Vanity Fairy, no fewer than three versions of the track feature on the hotly anticipated EP, as well as further tracks ‘Alternator’ and ‘Expectation’. 2019 was a year where Joseph Ashworth’s music took a turn to the left-field, combining a darker edge and catching the attention of DJ Tennis, who signed his ‘Trooper’ EP to the Life & Death imprint.
