Italian post rock and cosmic disco duo Crimea X have finished their second album, Another. It comes 2 years after their last effort, Prospective, and explores the same laidback yet spaced out sounds laced with intergalactic guitar riffs, wobbly pianos and skewed synth patterns that DJ Rocca (aka Lucca Roccatagliati, producer for Daniele Baldelli, Ajello and Dimitri From Paris's partner in the Erodiscotique project) and Jukka Reverberi (Giardini di Mirò) have championed since first getting together. In that time, the pair have become hugely admired cult figures in their respective worlds, pioneering sounds and garnering adoring support wherever they go. First singles from the album such as 'Yev' have already been doing the rounds, finding favour with musicos like Andrew Weatherall, Ivan Smagghe, Justin Robertson and Tim Sweeney, whilst the album itself was produced by Norwegian legend Bjorn Torske who spent 10 days in the studio with the duo before returning home to mix it in Bergen.

An ode to the seductive powers of the night-time world, a homage to ceremonial cave musica made for the carnal momentum.

Federico Leocata's latest experiment on Abstract Forms is stunning. Drawing inspiration from the experimental style and themes of recurrence in Nietzsche's 'Thus Spoke Zarathustra' (1883-1885), Leocata's EP is hypnotic and seductive. The EP harks to the work of the legendary Gerald Donald in guises such as Heinrich Mueller, Der Zyklus and Japanese Telecom - awesome and unmistakably futuristic sounds with natural funk and a sense of wonder and enlightenment.

Music pieces by The Cruising duo are not that easy to identify, both style- and time-wise. Funky vibes of the 1970s and 1980s are generously mixed with techno sound and peppered with unconventional live instruments, vocals, and flirting with rock. Throw in ambitions of new genre creators, and you get a fantastic creature, a techno-funky-rock Unicorn.Turn Day On, The Cruising first vinyl released by Krasawa Records, is just like this. It is a rhythmical, laconic, a bit languid techno-like Tinker Tailor rhyme with careless funky runs. Off-the-wall vocal by YulaVovk, a member of the duo, is topped by Roland Alpha Juno-1, a legendary keyboard whose voice is oh so 1980s.Widely known Kyodai AKA Wagon Cookin' have produced two remixes of Turn Day On, one of them dark disco and the other one dub. It is ever more interesting to hear quite a serious techno funky track turning first into a dark-disco opera and then into even a gloomier but classy dance dub.Yet another surprising feature of this release is that the authors of this original genuinely vintage sound are young Russians who were most likely born later than funk itself.

Ed Banger proudly presents their new signing Boston Bun, AKA ThibaudNoyer.. A 25 year old producer and DJ from Paris, Noyer spent his formative years in a series of rock bands before finally finding his way in the form of House Music. "It's my main influence - especially vocal House, anything between 120 and 125 bpm that talks about pleasure, love and desire..." and of course the all important "big warm bassline"

Noyer's displays a masterful touch on this his debut release - lead track 'Housecall' recalls the classic baseline arpeggio pulse of Mr Fingers, allied to the tough jacking drums of Green Velvet, and a moaning, imploring vocal. 'Closer' manages to up the sleaze quotient with a baseline so filthy it needs a good scrub, insistent grunts and shuffling perc, and 'Urname' rounds things out with blissed out pads, yearning vocals and skittering cowbells.

Everything started with his mixtape project entitled "LEAN HOUSE". The idea was to compile and mix some edits of his favourite house track of some of his favorite producers and DJs, in a chopped & screwed style. A couple of months after, his remix of Maelstrom's "HOUSEMUSIC" was released on Sound Pellegrino, and quickly defined the Boston Bun's aesthetic. "I build my music as I would build the atmosphere in a club. A club where you feel good, where you meet people, where something special happens. I try to recreate both the mood and the acoustic of this ideal place"

Continuing a collaborative partnership which began on last year's "Forever You" single, breakthrough Bristol-based vocalist Javeon McCarthy once again takes centre stage here. Through its melodious analogue synths, infectious vocal hooks and sub-4 minute running length, "Lost In Love" in many ways serves as the ideal entrée to Neon Dreams. This is the sound of L-Vis 1990 revisiting the routes of his dance music love affair.

Under the steer of Jesse Rose, Graeme Sinden and Chris Belsey, Loungin' Recordings's formative years were spent driving the broken-beat sound of postmillennial Notting Hill. With pioneering producers such as Domu and Dave 'Switch' Taylor mainstays on the roster, Loungin' steadily became the label most synonymous with the jazz-derived sub-genre.


Hailing from Rotterdam, C.O.N.E is a principal member of a collective of young producers making what's commonly tagged as 'Bruk-step': a sub-genre of grime that incorporates the percussive structure and production sensibilities of broken-beat. Having delivered two typically resounding remixes for Loungin' in the last 6 months, C.O.N.E now delivers a full artist EP for the West London-based imprint.


As an avid vinyl collector of Loungin's output in the early-2000s, the 4 tracks forming the 'Doppa' EP were purpose-made to reflect the influence Solid Groove's designs had on him in the early-2000s. Already aired on RINSE FM, the EP's weighty title track is supported by 'Pressure' - a more classic cut of percussion-heavy broken house. 'Reach' is deeper inclusion that feature's the vocals of Footsteppa Records affiliate Tink, before 'Ravi' completes the package in a fractured grid of dub-techno.

UK based Emile Facey aka Plant43 contributes to the binary catalogue with some perfectly crafted electro funk.

Basement Freaks attempt to redress the balance with their second studio album Funk From The Trunk which shows the boys in full P-Funk flow.

From opening track A Blues Thang to the last gasp of album closer The Last Train - you know you are listening to young soul rebels who have found their full funky flow.

Producer George Fotiadis won a lot of fans as a leader of the burgeoning ghetto funk scene and while that scene is still big internationally, there are no wobble bass lines here, just block rocking hip hop beats, funky wah wah guitars and funky as flip vocals from longtime collaborator and fellow Freak Georges Perin as well as guest spots from Mustafa Akbar of Nappy Riddem, Charlie Funk and MC Rayna.

Opener A Blues Thang was the standout track from a vinyl sampler EP released by the Freaks at the end of last year and is distinctive for its deep south harmonica lead and blues drenched vocal. Which part of America's deep south are these boys from you ask Thessaloniki I answer. Greece is the word.

The Beat Broker - 'Limited Time' is the latest 2 x 12" Vinyl LP from Bearfunk Records.

We're proud to present the debut LP from San Francisco's finest The Beat Broker. The Beat Broker, or Ryan Bishop to his folks, was born and raised in southern California. Currently residing in San Francisco, he has been conjuring his deep-space disco and sharing his unique sound under many different guises.

With early production partner Ryan Fitzgerald they recorded as Broker/Dealer and released on sought after labels like Spectral, Traum and Sentrall. They ran a longstanding club night in SF called POP and Ryan began to make edits, new productions and remixes to integrate into the night. He made sleazy cosmic jams for the beginning of the night and up tempo synthesizer crowd pleasers for the early morning. These productions found their way onto records via labels like Flexx, Disques Sinthomme and more recently Adult Contemporary.

So what is the Beat Broker sound Well Ryan likes to fuse old with new to create a refreshing style of his own, deeply electronic and emotional. If you were gliding through deep space on a trip to the sun this would be the soundtrack. Take "High Life" which is a slow sleazy does it smokers delight. "Energy" is a synth laden peach of a track, soulful and icy at the same time. "Departure" & "Believe It" is a nod in the direction of the Italo sound that N.I.O.A did so well.

Phantasy is proud to release a one-off double A side 12' from The Chemical Brothers' Tom Rowlands.
'Through Me' is an all-cylinders, propulsive elasticated house track while 'Nothing But Pleasure' is eight-plus minutes of unstoppable Metallic KO disco. Both tracks reiterate the point that Tom is unarguably one of the greatest producers of club music around.
The 12' vinyl will be in the shops within the next couple of weeks; the download will follow a few weeks afterwards.
Tom Rowlands: 'These are tracks that were made to DJ with. I gave them to Erol to road test; he loved them so it seemed a perfect fit for Phantasy - I love what he does with the label. The Chemical Brothers haven't any plans to release new music this year - we're soon to start work on a new record - so this 12' seemed an exciting way to get music into clubs now.'
Erol Alkan: 'Every time I played the tracks out people were desperate to find out what they were. Both have been highlights in my Dj sets for the last few months.'

Delivered from its celestial womb to the human world for inevitable elevation, Tactile Galactics is the new album by Secret Circuit and first full length release from Beats In Space Records (RVNG Intl). Secret Circuit is the guise of Eddie Ruscha Jr., a sometimes sage known and beloved throughout the Los Angeles creative community. Amongst his earliest musical endeavors, Ruscha co-founded Medicine, an overlooked four piece whose sinister, snarling take on shoegaze landed them as the first American signing to Creation Records. After leaving Medicine without a bad taste in his mouth, Ruscha's focus shifted from his shoes to the endless array of LA music stores housing analog synthesizers, drum machines and effect units forsaken at the advent of digital technology. While establishing his Secret Circuit identity through various self-releases, Ruscha was a wingman in notable projects with Thomas Bullock (Rub 'N' Tug) as Laughing Light of Plenty and with DJ Harvey as Food For Gods. Ruscha likens his studio obsession to 'striving for alien sound or rhythm that feels natural.' Between 2011 and 2012, Ruscha released no less than four albums, a 12' for Prins Thomas' Internasjonal Spesial label, a handful of blazing mixes on the Cosmic Papers cassette tape series, and his debut for Beats In Space Records, the Nebula Sphynx / Parascopic Rope 12'. Ever the unsettled settler, Ruscha consciously crafted the bulk of Tactile Galactics' tracks at 120 beats per minute. Ruscha played with the equalizing value of this boilerplate dance music BPM in much the same way a DJ might — to set a clear course for transcendence. Tactile Galactics is derived from a dance lineage promoting feel over form; rhythmically explored without abandon — or audience — in mind by the krautrock fringe, put to the slow motion disco test at Daniele Baldelli's Cosmic Club, jacked into a House format via the Chicago imprint TRAX and honored today via peer psychonauts like Hieroglyphic Being and Lindstrøm. Tactile Galactics unleashes the lysergic choir of voices in Ruscha's head against a dance grid, but makes sure it stays in soulful step. For the first time on a Secret Circuit recording, these voices are quite literally present via Ruscha's own vocals, added when 'the song called for them.' It's by this same regard of the powerful unknown that makes Tactile Galactics Secret Circuit's most incomprehensibly detailed and stunning release to date.
