House Is OK! House Is OK! House Is OK! Third and last part of the 'We Make Music' series has finally arrived and just right on time as Janis, Oliver Achatz and Homeboy deliver the perfect soundtrack for the summer, accompanied by a new friend, east-coast disco honcho Sleazy McQueen, assigned for remix duties. Homeboy opens with one of his most cheerful works so far. 'Hula Hoop' is a lot of things: it's Disco, it's House and it's as happy as Croatian dance music specialist can get. It starts with a heavy piano riff that gets doubled by the occasional disco synth, which works since Tee Scott first went into the studio. The chorus gets really cheesy. So cheesy, that the fat almost drops from it, yet the rough 707 drums and distorted bass keeps things on the floor. After the psychedelic breakdown, keyboard virtuoso Alexander Ismailovski shoots you right back from space to heaven. This is where you meet Janis and he takes you even further with 'Movin' Up". The stomping house beat strikes like thunder as the filtered swirling under it makes you open up your disco shirt and raise your arm like Travolta. This is no song for the shy dancers; this is peak time dance floor craziness! Do your boogie and shake that booty like your momma told 'ya! The flip starts with 'Express", Oliver Achatz' love train. Arpeggios chuckling like a locomotive, drums tight as the railway and the ueber-funky bassline invites you to the disco wagon, where the air smells of sweet perfume and the music is in control of your body and soul. This combo drives you safely to the break, where the vocals take over and prove once more, that Oli is a lover, not a fighter. Just be careful when you drop this bomb on the dance floor, the endorphin explosion might be heavy. As with the first two parts, the compilation is closed by a guest

Opening Track 'One Love' doesnt mess about, with
lead vocalist Lewis declaring 'We Got This One
Love' whilst a heavy house beat drives us towards a
refreshingly retro main hook, but rather than
descend into formulaic house fodder, One Love
draws back from the light and delves into more
shadowy territory as sparing beats and percussion
lay siege on proceedings. Brighter Day, as its title
suggests, has a much more optimistic disposition,
no darkness here, just thudding kicks, snappy....

After firmly establishing their Nu Funk steez in the digital realm with countless releases, London label Boogie Boutique reached into the glamorous world of vinyl in fine style just before Christmas with the double 12" drop A Year On Wax. They elect to continue their twelve inch shaped adventures with a label regular at the helm in the shape of Funk Ferret. The New Zealander has featured on many a Boogie Boutique release, as well as other Nu Funk labels such as Booty Pirates and Ghetto Funk, so keen observers of the scene will know what to expect. "Pushin' Forward" features the mic spitting skills of Imagine This, whose Mr Lif style delivery is the perfect foil for a trademark mid tempo bass heavy bump from the Ferret. Boogie Boutique have assembled a fine cast of remix talent too, with Big Beat veteran Cut La Roc dropping a fine sample heavy revision that allows the vox to shine. Fellow BB artist and Montreal dweller Nick Fonkyson adds some crunchy riffage to the mix, whilst the Funk Ferret's Regrooved Sound System partner DJ Alias concentrates on teasing out some bassline deviancy with some help from Benson.

Slynk has a new release out and it's a beast! I know because it just tried to take a chunk out of my ankle as I moonwalked to the bathroom. If you've been following him all these years you'll know what to expect by now; Four towering funk behemoths forged in the dirty grease pits of James Brown's flavela chop shop by mechanics wearing beastie boy intergalactic suits and daft punk helmets, welding on lasers and electro and swag to create the most incredible dance floor bangers the world has ever known. Where is it It's just over there on that plinth. Which Plinth Are you kidding That Indiana Jones style plinth deep in the Temple of Boom! Just follow the trail of DJ's, by now most of the traps will have been triggered in their stampede to add these four golden Slynk bombs to their set lists. The blow darts got Featurecast, A.Skills is covered in tarantulas, B-Side sadly got the spikes. Thankfully they've all fully recovered, although DJP was last seen still running from a massive boulder of rock somewhere in Stoke on Trent and Goodgroove is by all accounts still pinned down by a tribe of angry Peruvian jazz fans. You know you want it! Here's a whip, here's a cowboy hat and here's a bag of sand the exact same weight as Slynk's new 4 tracker. Now Go!

Roberto Lobo and Ernesto Avelino come from Mieres, Northern Spain, and have been making music together for more than 20 years. They shook the Spanish underground in the 90s with projects such as Hegemonía or Goodbye until they conceived Fasenuova in 2006. Since then, they've delivered what they define as 'battered free-noise' in a handful of CDr and cassette releases on subterranean labels such as Ozono Kids and Truco Espárrago. 'A La Quinta Hoguera' (Discos Humeantes/ 11) was their official debut and the album that included 'Cachito Turulo', a track that captivated us with its mixture of menacing industrial sequences and weirdly playful vocals. After having listened to it a zillion times over the last couple of years, now we are pleased to release it as a 12' single backed with a batch of remixes by producers that, in one way or another, can relate to their shadowy aesthetic.
Hivern stalwart Marc Piñol keeps the toxic atmospheres of the original composition while winding down its rhythmic pulse with sluggish analog drum-machines. Transforming the vocals into eerie whis- pers and enclosing them with unrelenting acid basslines, the Barcelonian filters the raw energy of the track into a hypnotizing piece of numbing house. Drexciya's Gerald Donald appears under his Heinrich Mueller guise to deliver one of his scientifically-precise electro-treatments. The legendary Detroit pro- ducer brings the track to its terrain by surrounding the vocal snips with his trademark ice-cold sequen- ces and alienating atmospheres. To complete the release, long-time Hivern-fav Legowelt follows the track's savage spirit and adds manic melodies, rapturous pads and extra-muscular bass tones to boost its dance-floor power.
The release comes in a limited edition vinyl 12' with artwork by Hivern in-house designer Arnau Pi.

The first in a series of limited edition 12" aimed at the dancefloor. IVVVO, a young producer from Portugal with previous form on Opal Tapes and is closely affiliated with the Photonz crew - The Future EP presents his most exciting work yet.
Six transmissions long - vinyl scarred, abrasive and heartbroken, IVVVO reaches into early UK rave music for inspiration, but twists the end-game. The yearning vocal, the minor key whisper, the shuffling breakbeat, the bleep, the bloop, and the seeping tape-bleed - all present. Yet IVVVO mangles these core elements of dance music past into something that sizzles headfirst into 2013.
Opening cut "Darkness In My Soul" kicks off the record in a sad glare of tone bursts, aching lead lines and throbbing kicks. Elsewhere he reaches into his bag for stinging hats and nagging hooks. All tracks clock in shy of five minutes. IVVVO's way is the quick release, the instant blast, the cute melodic touch... smouldering in warehouse black. No time for bloated dance formulas here.

Caribou mainman Dan Snaith puts on his DJ-friendly Daphni hat to return the Holden remix favour with the sort of idiosyncratic blend of pitched-about vocals, fidgety garage revival beats and psychedelic synths that only he can get away with.

We do not forget his splendid parallel project called Pulshar together with Sergio "Afro" Sainz, with several releases, remixes and two albums: "Brotherhood" (Phonobox 2008) and "Inside" (Desolat 2010).

Pablo was made for making music, always with an attitude, always with quality as a standard.

The Captain aka Fab Samperi is one of the hottest names in Ghetto Funk right now and we are proud to welcome him to Breakbeat Paradise Recordings to drop a monster 5-track vinyl. He's teamed up with two countrymen who share his passion for funky upbeat drum 'n' bass groovers - the Italian producers PhonoMatt & Tommyboy. If this wasn't enough they've teamed up with another ghetto funk heavy weightier: BadboE who's dropping a killer remix on the flip side of this EP.

Expect something a little different from the usual BBP business but as always funky as hell and full of attitude. The tempo is closer to drum 'n' bass but the street feel and wobbles from ghetto funk makes these jams perfect peak time bangers.

The Captain just recently dropped his first 4-track vinyl on the legendary Ghetto Funk label, which were ripped off the shelves and sold out in less than 2-month time.
