Jonas Schiefferdecker, known by the stage name of Joney, is an experimental multi-genre music producer, drummer and laptop musician from Hamburg, Germany. He took his first drum lessons at the age of five, and started playing in bands and orchestras by the time he attended high school. His musical influences range from the old jazz masters to the latest bass music producers. Since 2010, Joney has been releasing a broad variety of productions and remixes, ranging from jazz influenced drum and bass, to garage or glitch and trap influenced bass music, to house and techno club tunes. His close association to the Golden Pudel Club and the hanseatic crews named Eat The Beat and ill, both still gaining momentum with their involvement in any kind of underground activities, is seen as seal of quality by many of the cities punters. In December 2012 he released 'oh Allright' as the main title on Pudel Produkte 18 and a split single with Rampue on Audiolith as well as the digital 'illowhead' on Saturate!

"Lost In Love" is the first single to be taken from L-Vis 1990's forthcoming debut album, Neon Dreams. Continuing a collaborative partnership which began on last year's "Forever You" single, breakthrough Bristol-based vocalist Javeon McCarthy once again takes centre stage here. Through its melodious analogue synths, infectious vocal hooks and sub-4 minute running length, "Lost In Love" in many ways serves as the ideal entrée to Neon Dreams. This is the sound of L-Vis 1990 revisiting the routes of his dance music love affair.

London based electronic marvel Kel McKeown - aka Kelpe - celebrates ten years of sonic boundary pushing with new maxi single, DRUT001/ 'Answered' - out April 15th - and new LP DRUT002/ 'Fourth: The Golden Eagle' - out June 3rd - both on his brand new label DRUT. Setting to work with a selection of analogue synths - Moog, Korg Polysix, Korg MS10 and Doepfer Dark Energy - the Ableton aficionado and purveyor of warped, cut 'n' spliced cliq-hop beats has delivered a handcrafted, 10-track masterpiece of an album which draws upon the strengths of his previous three. It's softer, warmer and more graceful than 2009's 'Cambio Wechsel', with a strong melodic element, and one which will secure his place in the canon of post-IDM greats. Kelpe says of the LP: 'On the whole, I was trying to make the warmest and most analogue sounding thing I've done, and I think it came out best on 'Answered'. The rest of the LP, in a way, is an extended build up to that favourite track on the record, which in itself was an opportunity to take leave of everything preceding it and go off on an epic trip.' Rollicking opener and curveball 'Astrolomy' brings to mind the mesmeric Anatolian guitar of 'After Gold' - a standout track on 'Cambio Wechsel' - swishing its tail to syncopated drum rolls as it dodges electro bolts-out-of-the-blue. It's followed by the lush, soulful, heavenly Baths-esque future pop of 'Beaks of Eagles' - with gloopy synths, hollowed beats and obfuscated crowd chatter - the kind of song that chillwave probably wanted to be, but never quite was. The shoegaze-ready 'Nice Eyes In My Size', with twinkles of xylophone and twisted, subtractive synths aping the guitar's wah-ing licks, is pursued and offset by the squelchy industrial clamour of ensuing track 'Single Stripe', which metamorphoses from techno to dream-pop in one fell swoop, glossed over with fade-out vocals and a denouement of synthetic steel drums.

A1 Bassline - A1 Bassline Ep

South of Croydon raised Christian Sibthorpe (aka A1 Bassline) sent over a few things over the last 12 months that really had me paying attention. But it was Jessica (J. Phlip) ended up being the first one to drop "Falsehood" at the Spring dirtybird party in SF which pretty much sealed the deal. It just smashed the room to bits. Later on I met Christian in person when he helped me do a live radio show at Rinse FM in London along with Ben Westbeech and we agreed there that dirtybird would put these two tracks out.A1 claims to have been heavily influenced by early Metalheadz and you can really here it on these tunes. While "Buoyancy" is a smooth pulsing affair that really shines in the deeper mixes, "Falsehood" (which we are re-releasing from A1's Tighten Up label) really buries the hatched in your brain with bits and pieces of 808s, breaks and house hi-hats all forged together like hot iron.

- Huxley made his name with releases on Hypercolour, Tsuba and 20:20 Vision
- Early coverage and support from XLR8R, FACT, Mixmag
- Reviews confirmed in CLASH, Mixmag, DJ, Trap. In discussion with Pitchfork.
- Support from Pete Tong, Skream, Dusy, Maya Jane Coles

Over the past few years Huxley's name has been on everyone's lips in the house scene, following a string of deep house and garage-infused tracks for labels like Hypercolour, Tsuba and 20:20 Vision. His sound is incredibly distinctive, its swung rhythms rooted in UK garage, accompanied by diced vocals and chords that hark further backward toward originators like MK and Todd Edwards.

Huxley's latest release offers three subtly different takes on his sound. Lead track 'Lost Love' is stark and electronic, pairing swing percussion with keys that trickle upward through the beat. It's elevated further by shimmering synth licks that ripple across its surface and mark it out immediately in the mix. 'Who Am I' has been all over house dancefloors and Rinse FM recently, its downpitched vocal sample buffeted by thick organ chords. 'Walk 2 U' rounds off the package with one of Huxley's most explicitly garage-leaning productions to date, opening with a pirouetting two-step beat reminiscent of El-B, before a four-to-the-floor kickdrum halfway through transforms the track into a burning peak-time anthem.

Jabru, Blacksmif & Juno Sutton & Mtd - Last Days Of Rome / Gavelock / Solace State

Paradise Club Recordings are due to serve up another eclectic EP later this month - their first selection of what they have in store for
2013 - and it's one that furthers the label's trend of showcasing the many different styles at their disposal from their current roster.
Label stalwart Jabru kicks things off with 'Last Days of Rome', an aptly-titled cut that begins by traipsing through ambient swells and
looms, only to then brew up a truly decadent, central dancehall rhythm. The so-real-you-can-taste-it narrative of featured vocalist and
LV collaborator Joshua Idehen also lends the lyrical side a distinct sense of tangibility that serves to genuinely build upon the track's
woozy atmosphere more and more as the story progresses. Bristol's Hodge is on hand for the remix, and whilst his take is
deceptively similar initially, Jabru's tune is given a much more bass-inclined edge once it drops and it makes for a heart racing affair
by all accounts.
The EP takes a house-driven swerve with the final two tracks - Blacksmif's 'Gavelock' has lasers sniping constantly from one end of
the track to the other, allowing for its gloriously infectious groove to carve its way nice 'n easy straight down the middle. Equipped
with 'Solace State' (a joint effort courtesy of PCR up-and-comers Juno Sutton & MTD) and its jumping melody that blossoms with a
truly sublime vocal break, both tunes utilise many of the tropes associated with the modern house of the moment, and it's safe to say
with the dance world's current fascination on the slightly weirder side of the subgenre at full capacity, finishing the EP off with this
one-two punch was most definitely a damn good idea.

Spooky - Coolie Joyride Ep

Spooky

Coolie Joyride Ep

12inchOILGANG004
Oil Gang
01.03.2013

'Coolie Joyride' has a bit of history behind it. Long before we released Murderer by Spooky, or Over Capacity on our second release (before we were even a label) Spooky was best known for the Joyride Riddim. It was late 2005 when that was released, (a proper pirate radio anthem when that still meant something) a crucial interpretation of the iconic dancehall riddim Joyride. Coolie Joyride (or 'Coolie Dance,' as it was known) was basically the sequel, another harsh blast of dancehall grime in the midst of everything, battered by every grime DJ worth his salt. But it never came out. Spooky lost the files, the vinyl never happened. A couple of years later, we begged him to find them, he couldn't. All we had was a low bitrate mp3 and a load of old sets with it in, taunting us. Without wanting to appropri- ate Ruff Sqwad, a white label classic that never was.

Then a couple of months ago, Spooky got in touch, he'd found the parts, rebuilt the beat and sent it over. There it was, the .wav. So we had to release it.

On the flip there's another couple of bits of brutality. 'Electric Fence' is a nod to the classic Slew Dem sound, neck-snapping snares and harsh blasts of bass, gunshots, not much else. 'Rhythm & Slags Pt.2' is a sequel of sorts to the Darq E Freaker tune on our Quadrant release, Spooky tearing fragments of it apart and making something else altogether.

The West London-based producer's original mix adopts the full widescreen effect, cascading deep bass throbs and a trembling metallic clatter across a ponderous 2-step click. Consequence's reworking wires in some heavy-ass sub-bass transmissions and a rapid-fire hi-hat rhythm, before Jack Dixon's late-night submission takes a clockwork 4/4 tempo and bolts a springy, low-slung bassline to it, accompanied by layers of velvety synth patterns.
Crossing is an EP of uniformly consistent quality, where texture and atmosphere take the spotlight.

Perverse Ft. Beezy - Perverse Ft. Beezy

erverse have been New Zealand's finest bass exports since the all-conquering Truth crew, and the staggering quality of their smoked out, eyes down dubstep beats is a reflection of the breadth of new talent to be found lurking on Kiwi shores. One NZ based label has also come to the forefront in 2012 with a clutch of razor sharp releases and it's only right that Innamind Recordings' inaugural vinyl release features a link up with the Perverse lads; an exclusively home-grown affair delivering two of the freshest cuts of sub-frequency superiority to hit the shelves this year. IMRV001 features a pair of equally devastating explorations of space, bass and weight. In a break from the norm, the A side Cross Examination features the distinctive lyrical deviance of the Hench recordings affiliated Beezy, whose cold and calculated vocal projections ride sinisterly above cavernous waves of taut subs. As Beezy's verses interweave with the darting, sparse drum incisions, you get drawn deeper and deeper into a bass-induced stupor; hypnotising stuff and the highest of production values. On the flip, Perverse have concocted a technoid stepper as dark as its namesake, Obsidian, which pulses malevolently with rapid fire salvos of staccato kick drums dictating the track's movement and direction. Contorted swirls of cinematic ambience and jagged synths create an all-enveloping soundscape, underpinned by a pulsing bass element designed to push a soundsystem's low end response to the limit.
It's a certified banger of a debut release and has garnered DJ support from various scene luminaries including Youngsta, Kryptic Minds, Cyrus, Biome and J:Kenzo.

Girl Unit / Morri$ - Night Slugs Allstars Vol 2 Sampler

The newest installment in our NSWL series sees us borrow two brand new tracks from the forthcoming Night Slugs Allstars Volume 2 compilation, cut to glorious 12" vinyl (with love and care as always by Precise Mastering). Two highly melodic, colourful R&B/Hip Hop instrumentals dripping with Slugs flavour.

On side A, the unstoppable GIRL UNIT expands on his gloopy, warehouse-sized rap beat "Double Take". Teasingly previewed in the outro of "Double Take Part 1" from his "Club Rez" EP earlier this year, now Girl Unit finally lets us have "Part 2" in all its bittersweet glory. The drums and FX of the original are deployed this time over deep analog bass, gorgeous layers of synth melody, DX7 bells and flanged toms borrowed straight from Prince. Few others could pull it off with such charisma.

On the flip, new NS signing, Kansas-based MORRI$ gives us "White Hood". Already sounding super confident, the young producer has cultivated a style that mixes subtle but powerful influences from Southern rap with highly melodic layered instrumentation and organic percussion. "White Hood" is driven by an irresistible accordion hook, framed by skittering hi hats, snare rolls and a massive 808 undercarriage.

Having mixed both sides of this release, NS executive producer BOK BOK takes the opportunity to strip down "White Hood" and pass its bare essentials through some lovely analog gear on the bonus cut, his "Accordian Dub". Listen to that chorus sing!

- Hotly tipped contemporary of Julio Bashmore, Maya Jane Coles and Eats Everything celebrates his regular Rinse FM Sunday show with the latest release in the Rinse mix series.
- Fresh from his biggest year yet with material for PMR, Enchufada, and Local Action backed by DJ's including Claude VonStroke, Justin Martin, Dixon and Disclosure, as well as Radio 1's Annie Mac, Nick Grimshaw, Fearne Cotton & Gilles Peterson
- Showcases new and unreleased material from Jessie Ware, Maya Jane Cole, Eats Everything and T.Williams himself in a snapshot of the UK's bleeding edge House scene.

T.Williams sits near the forefront of a group of producers twisting elements of grime and funky into a rough-edged strain of UK house.

His Rinse:21 mix, takes the form of an hour long, club-centred set. It begins slow and soulful, before slowly escalating through several different phases. A feeling of acceleration characterises the mix's first third, before Williams sinks into shimmering, loop-driven peaktime house for its middle section. It's around this point that the presence of grime - the genre that T.Williams first made his name in - begins to make itself felt.

Grime and funky are reprised during the mix's final third — a potent reminder of the pressure that still lurks behind the often smoother surfaces of Williams' peaktime selection. A series of ruff- neck grime/house hybrids follow, bringing the mix to a close in an exhilarating and playful blur of aggression and synthetic texture — and in doing so, hark neatly backward to Williams' own roots, and those of Rinse FM itself.

Oz's Inkswel sends an irresistible four track package zig zagging across the globe to the door of Fort Unthank on the banks of Loch Firecracker, somewhere in the mists of Scotland, via his very own powerful boogie powered super collider. Opener 'Do It' is how it's done: atomic funk which has been split, stretched and closely inspected, then reassembled to create a dancefloor chain reaction. The funk particles then pass through the Americas and pick up the one and only Chico Mann. A man known for his like minded awareness of, and abilities with, the worldwide ways of the electric boogaloo, he adds his abstract Afro Cuban theories to 'Tu Machito'. Next, it's a sharp turn eastwards to the old countries, whilst riding the waves of 'LFO Bounce'. UK's Funkineven, another kindred spirit in the search for man made machine soul, provides further refinement to the initial wave hypothesis, resulting in a glimpse of the elusive dark matter that is often talked about, but rarely seen or heard. This unique meeting of some of contemporary beat science's finest minds has been made possible thanks to the benevolent funding of the UNiversal THought ANd Knowledge foundation, otherwise known as UNTHANK

Boody & Le1f - Liquid, Cedaa Remix

Pls welcome New Yorks finest gems Boody & LE1F - our most recent joint of the BNR-Crew. Both producers, beatmakers, rapper and vocalist, two multitalents all in all. After his murky debut mixtape 'Dark York', LE1F's now hooking up with his long friend Boody to present their first release 'Liquid' EP on Boysnoize Records. The record opens with 'Jelly Fish' - deadly, deep kicks sphered by drippy ice rinks. Brilliant balance between low-kicks and driving sirens unleashing the tracks unique shapings. 'Buoy' swipes away into a howling, cryptical and moody underwater action - closing gates, chirping birds and vanishing claps building a dark cavernous tension. As the subs shift from high to low, Boody & LE1F blesse the track with whispered vocals giving everything vogueish breeze. Next 'Soda' chops up the classic 'The Ha Dance' of Masters at Work into a kunty juke-ballroom mix. Furious 'Ha Samples' winding trough the track as minimalistic footwerk kicks and aqua drops joining the game. LE1F demonstrates his excellent rap skills here and shows you how to run this catwalk! With it's UK Funky rooted percussion and dominant basslines, the New York collaboration takes it to another level with 'Sweet Tea' while Khalif's stargazing performance glides across the track. Following is Cedaa's remix of 'Sweet tea'. He loops LE1F's strongest lines 'Damn Mama put it down this is way too hot for me!' and permeating hollow pitched 'Oh!' in the back. His hydraulic mix pumps the original to a one of a kind club monster. The EP closes with cunty East Coasts Ballroom beats remix from MikeQ and Divoli S'vere of 'Soda'. Together they re- construct the original to a deadly vogue anthem and bringing the taste of the New Jersey ballroom underground to those who are 'in the know'.

INHALE
14.11.2012

After being absent for over a year, Arkist returns with a three track 12" for Inhale.
The artist responsible for several great ep's on Hot Flush, Applepips, Deca Rythm & If symptoms persist is a obvious fit for Inhale with his genre spanning style and high production value.

Title track Two night stand combines influences of House & Garage into a beautiful piece of music witch snappy vocal cuts and pitched synth lines. Not only will tunes wreck havoc in diverse dj sets it's perfect for a home listening session.

Spiderdrudge sees Arkist on a warehouse Techno tip presenting raw synth work and a heavy sub.
Layered on top it has sparse but ingenious percussion lines which make it a perfect fit for those late nights in the clubs.
Gatekeeper provides the remix for spiderdrudge with a focus on the percussion switching it up and giving it that edge for which he is become to be known for.

PianoBatacaZoo provides us his most powerful set up ever: vibrations and Deep- House oriented strokes charged with baroque sensuality, decorating and presenting himself extra sensitive through solid percussion lines that come from UK-Funky, counteracting with elegant shines of real instruments. MNGC, a more minimal cut built from an explicit mutant bass line that works as the spine that receives new tools through the playing of the tune: dry falterings, bipolar personality that makes his own the mysticism of the original Dubstep or the synth motifs connected with the intensity of the Deep Techno. Jimmy Edgar adds a virtuous, erotic and visceral layers of manicure to PianoBatacaZoo, charging the record with positive electrons and amplifying his prole of inuential collage.

LuckyMe endeavour to bring you everything that is good about 2012 Hip Hop condensed into 3 power packed dancefloor tools on a limited laser-etched 12' vinyl. We received the demos at an auspicious time - just hours before TNGHT took to stage at their first live show at SXSW in March. They played it, we signed it, rest was history. But things have got a bit nuts...

The forthcoming release adds another notch to what s been an impressive and prolific year for Funkineven, closely following that all-conquering Fatima collaboration Phone Line'and the Funkinevil record produced with Kyle Hall. The two track on it make for a stylistic about-turn from the TV theme funk of the last Apron release (and artwork of the year contender) Chips & Sweets, Dracula is the kind of stuttering 303 acid jam FunkinEven is an expert of, reminiscent of the brilliant Rolands Jam, while Cha! is a loose-limbed slice of proto-techno which goes heavy on the unfiltered analogue bass, driven forward with lolloping drum machine beats. Released on red coloured vinyl, the look & sound for a perfect horror movie soundtrack !!!

18.10.2012

The E.P has already gained huge support by James Johnston, Tomorrow is Now Kid, Kid Mark, Oli Furness, Scottie Deep, Jamie Trench, Lucas RawCulture, Sem Marini, Kool Vibe, Jeremy Underground, Tunde Adams Caspa, Bryan Agent Pepper, Skylax Records, Washerman & more

Swink Music Records will turn one this month and we are delighted to celebrate our Anniversary with our first Vinyl release :) We've recruited the tnwo Mancunian's Si Jones & Mike Morgan, better known as the duo 'Si'Ke DJ's', part of the exciting new breed of electronic artists that are emerging from the U.K with releases already on well established labels such as Applique Music and Say Ahh! Records amongst others. We're proud to have them join 'Swink Music Records' with their brilliant 'Snap Back EP'.

With lead track 'Snap Back', the guys deliver another trademark masterpiece. Hypnotic Organ riff, groovy shuffled percussion with deep haunting chords with a real 90's feel to it makes a wonderfully warm dancefloor trip, proving once again why the duo are on the rise this year and deemed 'ones to watch' by an array of big labels.

Tenament Yard craftily uses a "Sade" vocal which effortlessly flows through the track meeting big heavy chords with a killer driving bassline. Already their work has been recognised and supported by the likes of Bryan "Agent" Pepper and Washerman, this is definitely a peak time track that will get the whole club bouncing.

On the B-side Alex Agore's take on 'Snap Back' grabs your attention with the instantly recognisable M1! This perfect peak time weapon is engineered to lock you in the groove with a bouncing bassline, spacey pads and menacing Organ stabs. This is a smash right here - best of global daytime parties be warned!

Rounding of the EP is the remix from 'Malin Genie'. Another producer hot on the heels of Global success, this time from Amsterdam. Malin first caught our attention with huge tracks like 'Eye' and 'Aranoyas' both of which gained massive support on the underground House scene so it was an obvious choice to ask him to do a mix for us and he has not disappointed. A somewhat more relaxed approach that utilizes the parts well while catering for 2 step/garage fans a stripped back version of the original but still packing a mighty punch!

S-type - Billboard Ep

LuckyMe Records
18.10.2012

LuckyMe are proud to present the anticipated debut from S-Type - the next in line to the throne of hot new hip hop producers born out of this label, steeped in British underground dance music but primed to take their talent towards the best US mainstream hip hop & rnb.

S-Type, aka Bobby Perman, is 25 years old, hails from Edinburgh and now resides at the epicenter of Glasgow's hallowed scene of electronic music that spawned careers for many of his friends and collaborators. As early as 2005 he was hanging-out, pooling-songs with Hud Mo, Mike Slott & The Blessings, fishing beats to rappers far overseas. But a pipedream by high teenagers has become a reality with a host of major label interest for S-Type production on 2013 rap projects (full details to be announced a$ap).

Raised in a family of jazz and rock musicians (most notably his elder brother Tommy leads experimental art-rock band FOUND), Bobby is a deft drummer and pianist who turned to the MPC2000 early; only to rise up the ranks of the Louis Den & Behind Closed Doors Beat-Battles. In the last few years his MPC lcd has been swapped for the all together wider scope of Logic and ProTools and one of the best new beatmakers has grown into one of the best new writers / arrangers. S-Type has mastered the anthemic top line, it bursts out of this ep, but as well as a lyrical ear his music has scope. At times close, taut and frenetic - screaming out for a Kendrick Lamar / Meek Mill verse - at others its wide, rich and so loud that one can't fathom anyone doing the music justice.

Ever since his fleeting inclusion in Rustie's critically received BBC Radio One Essential Mix, our inbox has not stopped going off about this new name. The Billboard EP by S-Type contains 6 tracks that can out-knock any chat room of beatmakers, and knock-out any room chatter from A&Rs. It's going to be interesting to see where this name ends up.

Solid DJ rotation from Hudson Mohawke, Rustie, Lunice, Benji B, Jacques Greene and Jackmaster.

Local Action's new single comes from Bristol-based producer Artifact. One of the most promising new artists from one of UK dance music's most prolific cities, Artifact debuted with 'Archaic Line' in early 2012, a single that was enough to prompt an immediate signing to Warm / Elastic Artists and a full-length interview on Resident Advisor.
A subsequent free single, 'Brittle Bones' / 'Freezedry' featured heavily in the sets of Mosca, Mary Anne Hobbs and more, and now Artifact releases his first full 12' for Local Action (home of DJ Q, T. Williams, Throwing Snow), a club-focussed amalgamation of swung techno, garage and more, with nods to the UK's oft-forgotten bassline house scene. It's the strongest statement yet from one of dance music's best prospects.

Here comes a record that shouldn't have been released in the first place. Who first started to circulate the CD-R with the blue inscription 'Waiting For Kim / We Get High' is totally unknown. The more known though, is who has been playing these two tracks ‚the one subtly uplifting, the other cranky dark ‚over the last few months. It's still an unsolved riddle who is responsible for those two very divergent (but obviously coming from a single source) productions. The fact that now these two tracks are coming out as a white label doesn't shed any more light on the affair either. But will please the DJ and club world nonetheless.

27.09.2012

A darker pallet underpins the record but this is inverted then lifted with inserts of scattered euphoria. Whilst all that is synonymous with the current face of techno lurks consistently in the background throughout, in an almost redemptive fashion, we are hoisted upward from a chromatic descent and set forth onto a crisp, bouncy path peppered with light. The depth of stereo field is utilised perfectly here and the use of dimension is something of a staple for all of those who call Wigflex home. Hizatron is known for his seamless arrangements, catchy melodies and punchy percussion and this record has that unquestionable 'Tron swagger but the familiar sound is accelerated by new influences from Bashley who although a relatively unknown member of the family brings a fresh range of timbres that compliment Hiza's signature grooves.
