Hot on the tail of two prior releases by Tapirus aka Rotterdam's own Charlton, the MNSX series presents its 3rd instalment with none other than yung John Heckle from Merseyside, UK with a remix by Tapirus. Three incredible tracks from John Heckle make up this blistering hyperactive EP. Raw, acidy landscapes and analog drum programming are the trademarks of this artist and he displays his mastery in full force. Together with Tapirus, the result is a meeting of minds; an energetically harmonious release in similar spirit. The title track 'Wet Noises' takes us full throttle into Heckle's domain. Upfront drumming, acid bassline and soaring synths mix and melt in a dancing cosmic soup. Tinkling notes add signposts throughout the oceanic chaos, before the song reaches its ultimate arrival on shore. 'Alpha Deux''s beginning and deceptive ambient soundscape unfolds deliciously, evolving organically into a full blown Chicago acid workout. Let it reverse and play on for a secret easter egg ending! On the B-side, Tapirus takes 'Wet Noises' to his territory on just as rough terrain. An acid bounce start slowly snakes its way into higher Asiatic ground with a hand of the mystical. Less of a remix in the traditional sense but an equally honourable version. A special treat is reserved for last. B2's 'Frozen Planet' is an evocative piece anchored by a broken beat and deep bassline. Brought alive by helter-skelter notes and wrapped up in soaring, mountain-high synth lines, it is a bright asteroid in the galaxy of John Heckle's discography for us.

We spent a lot of time on the sounds, which were mostly from digital hardware sources. We also focused on the recording process more than ever, as we mixed the record on mastering equipment and experimented with bouncing parts onto tape.

The sounds that often many attribute to Jimmy or Travis as solo artists are slowly transpiring to be the opposite, their respective contrasting styles not only behaving with vibrant influence over one another but in turn establishing an exciting benchmark in electronic music songwriting.

The Wizard Of Rhythm makes his Stag-O-Lee comeback with a collection of 21 amazing tunes, 14 taken from his various 7-inch releases on Witchcraft, Sleazy, Stag-O-Lee, Migraine and Squoodge (which are mostly sold-out) and 7 tunes previously unreleased! The series 'Journey To The Centre Of The Song' celebrates one song at a time, and presents it in many guises and interpretations. This first release in the series is dedicated to the classic tune 'Tabu', written by Margarita Lecuona (also responsible for 'Babalu', a classic as well), who was a cousin of the famous Cuban composer and pianist Ernesto Lecuona. The song, recorded as 'Tabou', 'Tabu' and 'Taboo' is a jazz and popular music standard which was first recorded by Cuarteto Machin in 1934 and later made popular by The Lecuona Cuban Boys and others. The aforementioned guises and interpretations span genres from Charles Blackwell's upbeat surfstrumental shaker to the brassy exotic tones of Tito Rivera, from the Cumbian island sounds of Cyril Diaz to Sylvie Moras silky smooth popcorn rendition. The record is completed by Arthur Lyman's crazy voodoo lounge version that evokes visions of palm trees and sun-drenched white sand. So sit back and enter the intoxicating world of ... 'TABOO'.

Osiris Music UK number thirty nine sees label owner Simon Shreeve finally come to the fore with the first full solo release under his Mønic alias after a pair of successful outings on the Open Water and Habits EPs earlier this year.

LIMITED REPRESS WITH NEW ARTWORK. First brought to light by the SB.TV F64 freestyles the ubiquitous 'Wooo Riddim' was arguably one of the most exposed grime tracks of the past year and now see its vinyl release as the second release on the Butterz white label series. The track has already been vocalled by D Double E, Footsie, P. Money, Chipmunk, JME and Jammer and has continued to stir up debate as to who has the best version. The tracks popularity has exceeded the 18-year old producer, S-X's, expectations by a long mile. Taking its influence from dirty-south hip-hop, 'Wooo Riddim' leans on on a stern 808 drum-roll and is accompanied by somewhat hypnotic synth-lines that compliment the laid back feeling of the track. Local Actions DJ Q is on remix duty on the B-side and delivers a somewhat dramatic interpretation with some woozy synths and manages to maintain the energy of the original and adding a bit of extra sub-bass to finish it off. Mainly known for his exploits in the UK Bassline scene DJ Q shows his versatility here by working with a grime track so be sure to keep your eyes peeled for more of his productions on the weekly Rinse FM Butterz radio show.

Having both released killer solo records on Coyote Records already, grime newcomers Chemist and OH91 return to square up on maybe the hardest, most upfront Coyote release yet; a limited run white label featuring two no-holds-barred dancefloor bruisers. On 'Xtra91', OH91 provides Rapid's classic instrumental with a monstrous update, turbocharging it with a punishing 808 bassline that bulldozes everything in its path. Flipside, Chemist reworks Footsie on 'Prang Boy Remix'; a rude, abrupt and unforgiving contortion of the original that takes no prisoners. In fitting with proper white label tradition, the 12" delivers a pair of bootlegs built to shut down raves.

As a debut 12" release for both DJ Marfox and Príncipe, "Eu Sei Quem Sou" ("I Know Who I Am") is the best title we could hope for our collective present & future intentions. It is what Marfox has always made clear to us through his work - a unique vision of technological, artistic and civic advancement. Everything is about having your code, knowing where you come from; about the way in which he's chosen to progress through his music.

Alex Coulton makes the deft first mark on Beneath's Mistry label, a new home for darker, techy UK riddims. 'Bleep Sequence' weighs up a definitive reduction of dark garage, dubbed techno and Yorkshire-style bleep 'n bass with plangent radar pings and body-scanning subs rolling from a spare, halfstep swagger into dread techno momentum. 'Tension' is a deadly new cut, well known to UK underground circles, synching tribal drum cadence with wide, surging subs and diffuse dubbing.

Horror Boogie 08 has landed and it expects you to bounce. Sounding like someone's invited Vibert to spin at a ghetto block party, the Transistor Booty EP finds Luke's Anger showcasing his ability to inject concentrated funk into the most energetic of club tracks.

Bounce Fresh kicks things off in buoyant fashion with a meandering acid line providing the central thread for sweeping synths, infectious vocal snippets and the bassiest of kick drums to work your subs to their limit.

On a similar tip, but with more of a chilled out groove, Biscuit NRG gets much deeper, its low-slung acid line burrowing into your brain for a full-on hypnotic work out.

Poppin' sounds the most directly influenced by classic booty house - its more clipped acid line, slightly more aggressive vocal clips and pitched up toms bringing to mind the great DJ Deeon.

Finally, the crisp and elegant keys of Iced Out provide a beautifully delicate counterpoint to the booming kicks, scintillating acid line and frenetic juke-style vocal loop.

With Transistor Booty, Luke's Anger has bottled the most appealing elements of acid and ghetto house, shaken up that bottle and then sprayed it all over your speakers. The results may cause fits of demented rave twerking. You've been warned...

Houston Based Rabit has been at the forefront of the instrumental grime scene and now prepares his debut EP for Soundman Chronicles. The EP entitled 'The Sun Dragon EP' is Rabit's first vinyl release in over a year. Rabit's output has always been consistently strong and the body of work he produces has always been of the great quality which was evident with the inclusion of his track 'Satellite' on the scene defining compilation 'Keysound Presents... This Is How We Roll' released on Dusk and Blackdown's Keysound Recordings Imprint. After this he then prepared his debut release for the Dublin based Glacial sound imprint which included three original Rabit productions alongside an Epoch remix. Rabit's productions have managed to stand out in a new generation of producers who are re-imagining the old template of grime and rehashing it into a style which is fresh without sounding nostalgic. While Rabit may be linked to grime his music stretches far beyond the boundaries placed on the genre which is evident with the level of DJ support he has received. With institutions like emerging instrumental grime collective Boxed (Oil Gang, Logos, Mr. Mitch and Slackk) including Rabit tunes on their compilations (Square Wave Shell Down w/ Mumdance and Red Candles), and artists such as Cashmere Cat using Rabit tunes in the mix, The Bug who has been supporting Rabit's music online and Oneman including standout Rabit productions on his last two Solitaire mix tapes, this has cemented him as an artist to watch in the near future. With a release lined up with Tri Angle records forthcoming, this EP was an opportunity for Rabit to explore different sonic textures which still worked with the aesthetic of Soundman Chronicles: space and groove. The Sun God EP is 4 original Rabit productions which explore different tempos as well as a variety of different spaces. 'Send' introduces the EP; with its sparse landscape and heavy atmospherics, the vocals provide the backdrop for the entire tune, keeping a sense of tension and groove. Next comes 'Atacama Skeleton', a track with a name well suited, this is the longest and most unpredictable of tunes on the EP. It's impossible to track the direction of this tune on any listen, regardless of if it's the first or the tenth listen. 'Sun God' is more of a melodic roller, based on very few elements but a hypnotic melody to keep your attention throughout. Finally we finish with 'Yellow Haze', a much sought after Rabit dubplate with its distorted basslines and hypnotic horns.

For their fourth and final release of 2014, Formula Records return to label founder Champion for a weighty collaboration with none other than Merseyside's chief dancefloor antagoniser - Melé. The Get Down EP hits hard with two tracks of balanced low-end power, with the producer pairing splitting their considerable talents down the middle to work up a package of pure heads down energy. The title track is a call arms to all ravers, working a murkily outlandish bassline around hard-edged junglist riddims and a kick drum that'll punch through any system with aplomb. "Radio Babylon" leads with a steady minute of vocal cuts and distant reggae samples before dropping down into one of the finest reduced garage/bass misfits you'll hear in Q4. Continuing to push a dancefloor sound that takes in all angles of the sound system spectrum, FRM009 is all about moving forward.

Sneaker Social Club is a new boutique label born from a love of music, vinyl, collecting things and, urm...Sneakers. 'The whole theme is about me having fun, making and putting out records that are a little bit more interesting' says Jamie Russell, the man behind it (and also the man behind two of UK's more interesting house and techno labels, Hypercolour and Glass Table). 'As an avid collector of vinyl for well over 15 years, I felt that I wanted to contribute something that was more appealing than your average' explains Jamie. 'For me, this first release from Ross is a continuation of the early 90's rave music I grew up listening to! so nostalgia will be the underlying theme of the label' he adds. In keeping with his art values, high quality A2 limited edition poster inserts will be included on this inaugural, genre defiant release from rising producer Ross Tones aka Throwing Snow.

The UK talent and the man behind 'A Future Without' and newly minted 'Left Blank' writes music without prejudice or pretencion, as demonstrated by the two ranging techno/bass/house fusions he offers here. It's no surprise that Ross has recently been asked to remix Eskmo for Ninja Tune, and The Count & Sinden for Domino, coming in Sept. He truly is one of the most exciting talents in the UK right now.

A-side 'Shadower' emerges from an atmosphere of punchy bass notes and harmonious tones only to be splattered with pinging cow bells and soft focus hang drum notes. Its mission is unclear at first, but when the bassline kicks in and all the elements come together at once, it's a surging, melodically complex track imbued with a rising sense of euphoria that never becomes too over-powering: well balanced and deftly arranged, it sounds like little else out there.

On the flip, 'Sanctum' is patient in its build up of a deep, Hot Flush styled atmosphere, before raw analogue stabs signify the arrival of the track's main features - an off-kilter percussive line that restlessly chops and slices its way through the surging bottom end and a webbed network of FX and colourful melodic flashes which mean that, although the whole thing is dense and intense, it's also beguiling and beautiful. Here proving himself to be both a fine manipulator of melodies and a true master of musicality, Throwing Snow also gets Sneaker Social Club off to a more than auspicious start.

Aanbreken is a musical duo, comprised of producer Tim Aminov and singer Gala Ga, who after 10 years of musical exploration decided to join forces in 2013. Now, over a year later, they are set to release their debut EP, Verge.

Influenced by an intrigue with ancient religious rituals, Aanbreken have crafted a hypnotic and evocative release that will hit at the heart for electronic music lovers. Thick ambient, mellow and electronic sounds work as a base for Gala's deep sensual vocals.
The sound is a product of the duo's past in hip-hop, soul, jazz, pop and reggae and makes for a textured release, inspired by a multitude of genres. It acts as their expression of community, brotherhood and anarchistic mood in modern day society.
In 2013 they were involved within the underground music scene in Moscow. From their very first performance together they'd already written the majority of this material. However, they felt the need to add some acoustic instruments. The percussionist Zakk Hemma joined the live project to complement their electronic sound with live drums.
As ideologists, Aanbreken have set about constructing a concept EP, with a defined manifesto guiding their sound. The music explores the principles, character and meaning of 'Action'. As they state themselves, 'every system is a chain of actions... Every order of actions is a ritual. Whether it's originated naturally or created by man'
The sound was intended 'to convey the mood and dynamics of the ritual', as a boundary between point A and point B, a cross-line that divides past and future. With that boundary representing the present
With the release to be housed by the German label Ki-Records on the 8th December. This EP follows a strong year from Ki, having released LPs from Daisuke Tanabe, Sean Piñeiro and an extended 8-track EP from Christian Löffler.

With a musical carreer spanning over 10 years in different fields of the industry, This extraordinary EP is his first release in almost 3 years, following his album on Exit Records. Dan is the experienced artist who has a very clear idea about what he wants and what he puts out there. It's a spellbinding, enchanted journey that begins in a rift that opened in Turkey shortly before the Gezi protests evolved, and travels deep to sift the edges of human unrest and personal unfastening.
Recorded amidst the political and social turmoil, 'Absence' is, to say it with Biblo's own words, 'about the absence of desire, absence of roots, absence of meaning, absence of justice.'
But even with substantial context aside, 'Absence' is an emotional and deeply intimate work that offers an unsettling musical experience for the listener.
'Absence' is filled with haunting sound and abyssal beauty, marked with profound sensitivity and hair-raising despair. The album expresses a deeply troubled and hurt relationship with humanity through the artist's unique musical language, utilizing her own voice, sampling, and electronic means with incredible skill.
'Absence' embodies roughly one year starting early 2013 till early 2014. During this time, Biblo decided to try and live outside of Istanbul and Turkey (and moved to Berlin, Germany), then came back to Istanbul witnessing the protests evolve, and decided to stay.
The album is a personal testimony of being in this non-place, being torn between places that stand for different concepts to lead your life. "I eventually came to grips with the understanding that life is often about tolerating where you are,' Biblo summons, 'and that we can be meaningful wherever our place is.'

'Star Step' ebbs and flows, with the song's synth melody rooted firmly in Chrome Sparks' typically intricate and ornate percussion. The track segues into companion tracks 'Enter the Chrome Forest' and 'Lost In the Chrome Forest,' two cavernous songs that play with the space of the mix as much as they do the song's melody. 'Islands' is the second album and live project from Worldwide Award-winning producers LV, and Benin City vocalist Josh Idehen, three years on from their critically acclaimed debut collaboration 'Routes'. Where the 'Routes' album saw Josh's voice used in fragments to examine themes of life in modern London, 'Islands' sees LV move Idehen's lyrics and vocals front and centre. 'More so than on 'Routes', Josh is creating little worlds and telling stories with this project,' explains Wil LV. 'We tried to write music around him, with highs and lows; trying to make it coherent... but not too coherent.' British, Nigerian; rapper, poet; comedian, depressive; lover, fighter; energizer, observer; narrator, subject: being Josh Idehen is a world of contradictions. 'Everything that was coming up through 'Islands' does relate to a part of me,' he explains. 'That feeling of being an outsider, being isolated and this kind of lonely story teller. And not in a kind of 'I'm cool, I'm different', but just an outcast, always on the outside looking in.' Born in London to Nigerian parents, he returned to Nigeria at four when his father started the country's first video rental store. 'All I did was watch TV. So I had this weird kind of displacement, because all my frames of reference were English or American. I would go to a school and no-one would know what I was talking about when I would mention Knight Rider.' With unlimited VHS tapes to hand, perhaps it was inevitable that Josh would become a story-teller. Indeed, the Islands of this project's title could represent the disparate themes between which Idehen's lyrics hop. On 'Imminent', overheard whispers on an East London balcony tell the tale of an unforeseen demise, while on 'Waiting For the Night', Josh drew on honest reflections of his experiences after he returned from Nigeria. 'Obsessed' is about an unhealthy, social-media enabled reaction to being put in the post-coital friend-zone. 'I tend to be a bit full on...' says Josh. 'I think it was because when I was in Nigeria, I lived in a very Catholic house until I was twenty, so you can imagine me coming to London...' Murder, desperate loneliness, obsessions and sexually-unfulfilling nights out: on paper you'd be forgiven for thinking that Islands is a thoroughly morbid affair. 'Some of Josh's more poignant moments happen when the music pares back and his performance becomes the focus,' explain LV. Between Josh's observational eye and LV's considered yet dance-floor moving production style, with its funky hardware synth jams and live drums, delightful aesthetic contradictions abound on Islands. 'Of course we always make one track at a time, but once you start to get a collection of tracks you start to see a bigger picture...'adds Wil LV. 'There's a fair bit of improv when we're recording, but when it comes to putting tracks together, we're choosing to use certain things we've come up with over others because they hang together well thematically.' Lead single 'Imminent' has received huge support across BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra, and upon supplying the parts of the tune for a remix competition, LV were overwhelmed with over 120+ remixes. Of the album as a whole, the title track 'Island' is perhaps the most unexpected, and took some strength to find. Josh had been working on different versions of a story, until he had a moment of clarity. 'I literally just thought, 'you know what I am just going to write what I feel is the funniest, darkest story that I would be happy to read,' so that I felt comfortable with myself and not give a fuck about what anybody else thought.

Rustie returns with a release on Numbers. 'Triadzz' & 'Slasherr' together make up a double A side single, his first record since the game changing intensity of his award-winning 'Glass Swords' album on Warp in 2011.

'Slasherr', previewed last week, is a sugary rush of rave ready synth lines and epic build ups that are matched pound for pound by Rustie's razor sharp and intricate drum programming.

An acclaimed Essential Mix last year showcased the first glimpse of new Rustie music alongside his selection from his influences and peers (from where keen labels were first to snap up Baauer's material). News of production features for Detroit's inimitable hip-hop star Danny Brown are spreading for 2013, with further solo material in the pipeline.

This double A-side single also marks the return of Rustie to his Glaswegian counterparts Numbers during their 10th anniversary year - a fitting home given their clubs housed his first live shows and Numbers sub-labels (Wireblock, Stuffrecords, Dress 2 Sweat) released his early material. Rustie will also be bringing his incendiary DJ sets to this year's SXSW, appearing at the Pitchfork party and Numbers showcases, in addition to Roskilde, Glastonbury, Bestival and the Pleasure Principle Weekender.

The Japanese producer Daisuke Tanabe is back on Ki for a full 15-track LP that will be released on a double 10' Vinyl. Tanabe was initially one of the first to contribute his music to the German imprint with the second release in the labels catalogue back in 2009. Some time has passed since then and the former Red Bull Music Academy participant has evolved even more and cemented his unique sound scape to a recognizable trademark. With his debut album - Before I forget', a few EP's, many Remixes and an album in collaboration with Kidkanevil as Kidsuke, he's now back for more on Ki. 15 tracks full of surprising twists and turns and genre defying sounds and rhythmic patterns. It was always hard to put Tanabe's production into one genre and it's not easier now. If you want to, you will definitely be able to put his music somewhere but you better listen closely and get lost in his incredibly deep and intelligent arrangements. It's an album that tells the listener a story. Which story that is It's solely up to the you.

Leo Luxxxus, a pastel-clad lover from space who makes girls wet with a finely-tuned, yet vocoded voice. The modern funk connoisseur is releasing his debut LP though Amsterdam-based record label Groove College Records.
