Long tipped as a vocalist of great potential, Ahu steps softly from the shadows of her many lauded guest appearances with the likes of Flying Lotus and Dolly to reveal 'To:Love', a gleaming gem of soulfully-enveloping hip hop lushness produced by Paul White, backed up with a typically fantastic ultra-remix from Swiss big-cheese Dimlite. It's a captivating performance from the Turkish singer whose unique style might be placed somewhere between traditional soul and the studied remove of the likes of Broadcast's Trish Keenan. If there's poignancy in her delivery, there is hope in the lyrics: it's a song about the calm and freedom felt by lovers after they split. Her long-time friend and musical ally Paul White provides the subtle, ever-shifting backdrop, a nuanced electronic counterpoint to the more organic psychedelia of his recent '... Purple Brain' LP. Things take a dramatic turn on the flipside as Dimlite's galloping reconstruction focuses on the tumult that precedes the post-break up relief, letting harpsichord fly into ravaged drum breaks and squalling synths before slamming the door for the very last time. It's undeniably odd, utterly fascinating, and further irrefutable evidence that this Swiss wunderkind is a very special talent indeed. Add to the mix a straight Paul White instrumental and energetic Dimlite dub, and what results is yet another essential release from one of the most consistently impressive labels to have emerged from these isles in the modern age.

In swift, suitably unnatural succession to 'Hive Mind', Daniel Martin-McCormick gives birth to his second LP as Ital; the more substantial, crazed and knotty house and techno rerouting of 'Dream On'.
With his second release for Planet Mu this year, 'Dream On' is more of a full-length outing for Ital aka Daniel Martin-McCormick and a much more substantial record than the very popular and widely critically acclaimed 'Hive Mind'. On 'Dream On' Ital takes his experimentation with house and techno forms even further, creating impressionistic deconstructions from the tropes of early house and techno. Sunny chords, laid back drum shuffle and rhythmic vocal loops are picked apart and threaded with a rich psychodrama of delirious textures, tidal chords and uneasy roughness and dissonance. Having spent over 20 weeks on the road since the completion of 'Hive Mind', 'Dream On' reflects the raw energy of the live show and the touring mindset: the heady, dream-feel of house, cut with both dub's fracturing smear and an understanding of the power of distortion, honed from years working in DIY and noise. 'Despot' starts the album with a trancey bassline punctuated with off-key vocal stabs, the form of the track brutally prized apart with pitch-shifting seasick chords. It's the record's longest track, and a powerful opener. 'Boi's mix of stuttering vocal loops, aqueous chords and frantic drums is tainted with sorrow and loss. It's got a nervous energy, always feeling like it's going to topple in on itself, lapsing from ravey propulsion into nauseated hiss and back again. 'Eat Shit (Waterfalls Mix)' is broken and distressed techno in miniature, making the most of distortion and echo to create shimmer and splinters of noise over rough, murky percussion. The dark center of the album, 'Enrique', strips things back to a cavernous ambience with molasses-slow vocals and a heartbeat drum, building into pulsing tones and scratching noise pulled across the spectrum. Another miniature, 'Housecapella', is deep house smudged and deconstructed into weightlessness; it's over before it begins to drag you in. 'What a Mess' sounds like music rotting; running epic, wilting chords, soaring melodies and hysterical vocals through curdling effects. 'Deep Cut' finishes by rubbing warm, emotional deep house tones, shuffling drums and claps against harsh electric guitar-like drones. 'Dream On' takes you out of the ordinary and drops you into Ital's dislocated dance.

Andrey Burtaev aka Electrosoul System is one of the most popular and successful Russian drum & bass

Considered a pioneer of the early UK Funky days, Roska quickly carved his own niche in the sound; initially through his Roska Kicks & Snares imprint and later through his Rinse FM shows and releases on the ever-respected underground Ammunition / Rinse label. In almost no time at all Roska was in demand for remixes that spanned out from the underground, versioning Untold, Four Tet, Jamie George, Zed Bias and more in his own unique style. Roska now returns to Tectonic following the head-turning killer '480 BC' featured on 'Tectonic Plates Volume 3' earlier this year, and a collaboration with Pinch - 'Paranormal Activity' - in 2011. This time he's got a whole 12' to himself and we're treated to a real tour-de-force of tribalised rollers, thick with atmospheric attitude, thumping subs and a shoulder-popping percussive workout. 'Blurry' runs at 133bpm allowing it to sit neatly between dubstep tempo and the increasingly popular 125-130 bpm bass / house scene that's been developing in the UK over the last couple of years. Taking things down an 'ongy-bongy' path, this rhythm provides the soundtrack to a hunter chasing his prey through a humid jungle landscape, with fast weaving beats charged heavy by the deadly subs. The heat is on. 'Spearhead' sees Roska making a rare 140bpm trip, taking this rhythmical excursion neatly into dubstep tempo territory, creating an original cut which sits in it's own world of tribal grime. The bassline pounds heavy, eventually rising upward before suddenly plummeting back down to the murky depths from where it came, and back round again. Dis-hyeer quality dubstep music produced 'pon the other side of the looking glass.

After being absent for over a year, Arkist returns with a three track 12" for Inhale.
The artist responsible for several great ep's on Hot Flush, Applepips, Deca Rythm & If symptoms persist is a obvious fit for Inhale with his genre spanning style and high production value.

Title track Two night stand combines influences of House & Garage into a beautiful piece of music witch snappy vocal cuts and pitched synth lines. Not only will tunes wreck havoc in diverse dj sets it's perfect for a home listening session.



Spiderdrudge sees Arkist on a warehouse Techno tip presenting raw synth work and a heavy sub.
Layered on top it has sparse but ingenious percussion lines which make it a perfect fit for those late nights in the clubs.
Gatekeeper provides the remix for spiderdrudge with a focus on the percussion switching it up and giving it that edge for which he is become to be known for.

Bristol boys Die and Break team up for a stunning release on Shy FX's Digital Soundboy label. Title track "Grand Funk Hustle" kicks things off with a shimmy of keys, sax, vocal and shuffling bongo beats, before we are taken into a dutty bassline roller. Next up, "Tear Down" is all muffled beats, echoing vocals, punchy drums and grinding subs for the duration, before we are taken onwards, ever onwards, through "Deep Search" with its rumbling subs and atmospheric pressure to "Peace & Dub" feat. Dutch beat broker and synth wrangler KRSUR returns to Myor for his sophomore vinyl release. Wayfarer sounds every bit as fluorescent as his debut 12 Crystal, yet it's laden with even more detail and precision than its predecessor. Denmark's boy wonder ELOQ manages to flip the subtle smoothness of KRSUR's original into a dancefloor stomper of epic proportions.

It's clean, it's sharp, and it invokes images of futuristic, spacious constructions. For his first full-length album, breakcore artist Techdiff leaves the dancefloor anthems behind and demonstrates an insolent talent for ultra-edited, highly dynamic tracks mixing break beats, electronica and sound design. Myriad of details and idea flow together in this beast of a work, which demonstrates (as his label mate Ruby My Dear also did recently) that there's much hope to be had in this new wave of breakcore producer. This clearly doesn't sound like anything this genre has ever produced in the past, but proves to be an impressive milestone for this artist and this style.

PianoBatacaZoo provides us his most powerful set up ever: vibrations and Deep- House oriented strokes charged with baroque sensuality, decorating and presenting himself extra sensitive through solid percussion lines that come from UK-Funky, counteracting with elegant shines of real instruments. MNGC, a more minimal cut built from an explicit mutant bass line that works as the spine that receives new tools through the playing of the tune: dry falterings, bipolar personality that makes his own the mysticism of the original Dubstep or the synth motifs connected with the intensity of the Deep Techno. LuckyMe endeavour to bring you everything that is good about 2012 Hip Hop condensed into 3 power packed dancefloor tools on a limited laser-etched 12' vinyl. Really really sick beat.so devastating that i have had to admit myself to the mental hospital entering into the even darker and dirtier area of dubstep now, I introduce you to Koan Sound. I have heard that these boys are only 17 years old although I'm yet to confirm this. These guys have been smashing it lately, with more than one forthcoming releases on both Dubsaw & Screw Loose Records, aswell as releases on labels such as Trill Bass's Trill Bass Records' it's almost obvious these guys are gonna soon be smashing up the scene with their deep, dark and chopped up dancefloor killers.

Since the latter half of the last decade, Alex Melia aka Reso has been blending heightened technological futurism with dancefloor prowess to create a densely cinematic musical universe. Following last years 'Ishimura' EP, 'Check 1,2' is the next single to be introduced from forthcoming debut album 'Tangram' on Civil Music. An unflinching vision of the future and complete competency in his craft sees Reso construct a brave new narrative in the way that timeless artists like Richard D James, Photek, DJ Shadow and A Guy Called Gerald have done for earlier generations.'Check 1,2' is a curveball that reveals Reso's love of dark hip-hop, melding sounds and influences from MoWax, Ninja tune, sci-fi and dubstep. Whereas the album 'Tangram' succeeds in weaving a multitude of electronic genres together, the guest remixers on 'Check 1,2' break things down into their own dark corners of expertise. 18-Year-old 'Emperor' (Critical/Caliber/Modulations) is one of the new breed of uber-talented producers currently making waves within the drum & bass community. His heavyweight remix confirms this and shows just why Reso chose him to be part of the package. Philadelphia's Starkey (Planet Mu/Ninja Tune/Civil Music), delivers a frenzied revision. Ahead of this forthcoming album 'Orbits' due late Nov on Civil Music, Starkey combines his Street Bass sounds with Amen breaks and 8 bar grime to make a true club weapon.Munich's Danny Scrilla released his first EP for Om Unit's Cosmic Bridge label earlier this year and support for his raw sound was unanimous. Seemingly built on a template of vintage dubstep his remix subtly updates the dark sparse sound to a 'slower than it feels' 85bpm. Running double time the high hats add to the heavy head nodding roll and chest rattling subs of this 'One to Watch' artist. Look out for Danny Scrilla's first EP for Civil Music late 2012.Japanese 2 x DMC world Champion DJ Kentaro closes out the package. Kentaro is a huge Reso fan and fresh from releasing his 2nd album on Ninja Tune, (a campaign to which Reso contributed a remix) whipped up a beat-juggling, electro-workout that lurches and bounces with more edits than you can count.

Civil Music's latest transmission comes in the form of four advanced dancefloor cuts from Moscow's Alexey Devyanin under his Pixelord moniker.Having a rich history in electronic music, with beats released under a number of different aliases (including a rich vein as Gultskra Artikler), Devyanin's latest incarnation as Pixelord has seen the producer traverse a wealth of influences, from the experimental field recordings of Fennesz, to the heavy-hitting rhythms of a new Russian beats scene and beyond. With the Supaplex EP we see Pixelord taking the reins of an exciting new chapter for his country's club music, leading the way through Russian juke, emotive digitalism and half-stepping bass works.
Opening with the unmistakably Chi-Town indebted beat patterns of 'Been Lookin', the EP outlays the 2012 Pixelord dynamic; heavy trippin' juke rhythms, pitched down ghost MC's duetting with their angelic female counterparts, and sky high synths that sear their way across the heart.'Freeze The Star' takes this template and twists it into a deeply layered ode to trap architects like DJ Toomp, Beat Billionaire and
Burn One, part low swung call-to-arms, part melancholy reflection. Complete with Q-Tip's heavily treated vocal sample and looped r'n'b couplets, the tracks multitude of components oscillate around each other, dipping and weaving throughout the waveform to create something equal parts solid and elegant.
'Paperball' follows, acting as a frenetically percussive demonstration of this artist's programming chops - all tempered hand claps and rolling 303 drums - before finally 'Vibrate' rounds things off with perhaps a more recognizable UK lean. Gloopy, rumbling melodies scale their way across galvanized percussion, as stuttered MDMA-dipped synth work creating the perfect foil for the tracks
second drop, which sees polyrhythmic UK funky-isms played out against a backdrop of broken halfstep beats.
Alongside developing acts like 813, DZA, Lapti, OL and Vtgnike, Pixelord is spearheading a burgeoning Russian scene that's progressing the bass game to the furthest corners of Europe - the Supaplex EP reaches far beyond this Muscovite's neighbourhood,
beaming his multi-faceted sound to the world.

After the uncharacteristically quiet 6 month leading into his second highly anticipated long player Phaeleh momentarily sates his huge fanbase's appetite with some handy re-rubs from two of the hottest new producers in Bass music. Kahn ups the ante as usual with a string sampling urban barnstormer conversely Djrum takes us on an esoteric house journey through a dystopian Berlin of tomorrow. Hot record!

Chairlift present takes on several cuts from acclaimed second album Something by some of their favorite producers, showcasing how their songs can easily be adapted for the club.
Appropriately titled the 6.15AMix,Spanish equipo fantástico John Talabot and Pional turn I Belong In Your Arms into a balearica-infused club-closer. A nifty piano line and seductive rhythm take the song on a late night (or rather early morning) trip to the beach, while Caroline's voice is being warped into something from outer space. Photek takes the same track to a whole different place with his powerful jungle interpretation.

ARP 101 is best known for his releases on Eglo and remixes for the likes of Slugabed, Bonobo, Jehst and Starkey, his brand of low slung bangers resulting in a steady flow of admirers. Elliott Yorke has dropped beats on Project Mooncircle and forms half of cosmic funkateers Royalty.

Paul Geissinger aka Starkey is blessed with musical arrangement skills that would leave most composers green faced with envy. This combined with his high production ethic makes him a formidable force not only in the underground but also as a super producer of the future. Starkey is yet another example of what the streets of Philadelphia can create, his sound hits hard and is littered with bass and colourful audio frequencies. If you like grime, dubstep, hip hop and all things 'street bass' then Starkey's hard edged spaced out crunk is the sound for you. The upcoming slab of wax from Starkey is going to be a hot collectors piece! This release is split single from both the Slit Jockey Records and Seclusiasis imprints that Starkey runs alongside Dev79 and El Carnicero. In true form, the Slit Jockey side is a raw grime track featuring the MC talents of London's acclaimed Trim. The Seclusiasis side is a spacey r&b track with the alluring vocals of Leah Smith. The instrumentals of both songs are also included. These heavyweight tracks will only be available on a limited white vinyl pressing and will not be available digitally at the time the 12' is released.

Without wanting to patronise anyone, the release of Amit's new single on Metalheadz offers the perfect opportunity to set the record straight about a few issues. Almost everyone in the bass music scene will know by now the basic history of dubstep, a collective of rogue producers and DJs backlashing against the commercial takeover of UK garage, the dark heart of London's nightlife scene since the early 2000's that's since been converted into a Grammy-winning, radio-friendly genre of its own.
