Following their last 12' from Nightwave, Svetlana Industries remain in their Eastern European heartland with a long awaited EP from 1000names, the Bulgarian production duo who made their debut alongside Rustie on the now legendary 'Beatnicks' EP back in 2007. The 'Machine City' EP follows 2010's album and EP for Black Acre, as well as mixing for Mary Anne Hobbs on Radio 1 and recommendations in Pitchfork. The EP marks a development from 1000names, taking giant steps on from their base in the beats scene towards a new sound, taking influence from Giorgio Moroder and analogue synth disco to imagine a future both optimistic and dystopian. It's like John Carpenter meets hip hop and it's as good as that sounds. 'La Boheme' kicks off with serious intent : a dark off-kilter synth groove accompanied by minimal drums with instant effect. Samples creep in, distorted female vocals bounce around, and the result is something propulsive and exciting but with an air of menace that makes it all the more effective, and an excellent dancefloor tool for lower BPMs. 'Zelda' is shorter, mechanical and pulsing, like a twisted theme tune to a kids science programme around 1985. 'Planet Video' is a gorgeous bouncing electro stomper, stylistically similar to 'La Boheme' but with none of the dread, with a strong boom-clap beat under delirious melodic arpeggios, building to a bubbling electro euphoria, reminiscent of Plaid at their best. A different tone starts title track 'Machine City'. Again synth sounds dominate, but this is the soundtrack to an unmade John Carpenter film involving a night time chase through a broken down city, ramping up the tension with slow power. The beautiful closing track 'First Postcard From Tokyo' recalls the best moments from Teebs. A floating burbling melody ripples over light drums, vocal sounds waft in and out, and snatches of barely audible radio vocal cut across the stereo field. A triumphant end, feeling optimistic and awestruck.

Nonplus+ label owners Instra:mental have been working away on solo projects in 2011 with Al Bleek working under his Boddika alias and Kid Drama as Jon Convex. Here we have Boddika's first output on Nonplus+ after his debut on Naked Lunch in 2010 and prior to his forthcoming EP on Swamp 81. His work has been supported by DJs across the board such as Benji B, Oneman, Scuba, Shy FX, Martyn, Ramadanman, Joy Orbison, Leofah, Skream and Zed Bias amongst many others.a) Boddika 'You Tell Me' 'You Tell Me' takes us back to the 80s with its electro tinged thumping drums and freaky synths. What at first seems to be a pretty straightforward track slowly mutates into an ugly beast with its pitch bent lead and warping drum grooves that slowly swing so far out and eventually re-sync with each significant transition. Not for the seasick.aa) Boddika 'Breezin' On the flip Boddika provides another striped back dancefloor warmer but here he comes with a 4×4 drum pattern. With very few elements he exploits them all to their limits and the track moves with an everchanging undercurrent of acid bass coated with subtle synth melodies that work their way around the bass in a mesmerizing arrangement. Another example of Boddika's talent for working sound to maximum effect and keeping it simple but effective.

What would happen if Dâm-Funk and Boddika raised a child together, who would later go to school with Krystal Klear and Ossie, finally ending up working behind the counter of a vinyl record store with Addison Groove and Ed DMX Fans of Venezuelan born and Barcelona based Cardopusher shouldn't be very surprised to find out that the bass chameleon has changed colors once again, this time channelling the powerful influence of the widely-respected Rephlex label (namely the work of Aphex Twin, DMX Krew, Luke Vibert and Astrobotnia) to create the full-on electro flavored retro-rumpshaker that is 'Goldo State EP'. Cardopusher harnesses the raw power of historic analog drum machines like the Roland TR-707 and 606 to create an acid-laden hardcore trip through 80s groove territory, complete with the indispensable bass punch and catchy melodic synth work. 'Goldo' kicks off on the A side with a might dose of 707 drum attitude and melodies that are guaranteed to make seasoned ravers smile, complete with the gut-shaking bass stabs that just beg to be heard on a loud soundsystem. On the flip side we can find 'We Run This State' and 'Body Slam', two tracks that take us further into 80s territory, placing the listener inside of the hedonistic mindset of those long-gone hardcore warehouse parties. Being the true explorer of the globalized bass phenomenon that he is, Cardopusher delivers a worthy follow up to his latest album 'Yr Fifteen Minutes Are Up', released by Tigerbeat6, as well as the latin madness of 'Tu Bizcochito', released by Enchufada as part of their successful 'Hard Ass Sessions' series. File Iberian Records' 'Goldo State EP' next to the likes of Addison Groove and Ed DMX.' Early support by: Kode9, Chrissy Murderbot, Octa Push, Slackk, Funkineven, Ikonika, Photonz, Bass Clef, Pocz & Pacheko, Munchi, Atki2, Juakali

Hotly tipped by Fact Magazine as one to watch, Champion - the 20 year old producer from London's funky scene - has very quickly gone from relative obscurity to getting played on repeat by massive DJs like Kode 9, Benji B, Bok Bok, Roska and Oneman, and recently saw the 'Motherboard EP', his first official 12', appear on Terror Danjah's Hardrive imprint. 'Lighter' has been a club anthem for nearly two years without seeing a release, so there can no better way to launch his own Formula Records imprint than with this much-wanted cut. Formula's pledge is to get quality funky onto vinyl and into shops where all fans of the sound can access it. Champion's tunes are the natural successor to Apple, Lil Silva and early Roska productions, harbouring the same life and bounce that made Funky so vital and wild in its developmental stages. They're slinky and raw, powered by an energy rush that comes from minimal tools : bass, beats, and sine waves squared up with buzzing edges that almost suggest a bassline-esque midrange influence with their oozing shifts. Now Champion is breaking into massive clubs like London's Fabric and Cable as a DJ, he is setting up strong platforms to showcase Formula material across wide audiences, and this EP is just the beginning.

Continuing the exploration of Bristol 4/4 variants, Immerse proudly offers forth this decisive two-tracker from the prodigious mind of Jacob Martin, better know as Hodge. You might be more familiar with Hodge from his work as part of Outboxx, who we proudly debuted on ime025. That said, he first surfaced last year with the deadly 'Conjecture' on another fine Bristol institution, Pollen. One thing rings true in any of the output Hodge is associated with; melody. Shirking the safety of sterile mechanics that so many producers hide behind, he tackles interplaying notes andharmonies with a fearless exuberance. Opening track 'The Fall' kicks off on a jerky groove and ice-cold organ murmurs, gently easing in layers and clips of sound with the same joie de vivre as Akufen and other micro-house progenitors. 'Crush' kicks off on a more decidedly broken tip, keeping the twostep shuffle slow and easy as whispers of garage skip in between the warm pads. The overriding vibe on Hodge's EP is one of unpretentious, good times tunage.

Next up on the label is this brilliant two-tracker from Instra:mental's Jon Convex. Serving as a taster of his forthcoming debut solo album it's a hugely impressive 12 with both sides demanding your attention. There's a nice old skool eerie, electro feel throughout and the tracks manage that nifty trick of sounding like something from the past and the future at the same time.

We are proud to be dropping a first physical release here at Live Ones in the form of a hand numbered, hand stamped 10' vinyl. No digital and limited to 300 units. We're not big into hype here but we are chuffed with the product... Lorca - Handling the production duties on the A side. He's recently made the move from South West London down to Brighton and has been solidifying his name under his latest moniker (Lorca). This move has seen him play alongside the likes of James Blake, Joy Orbison, Ramadanman, XXXY to name but a few. Lorca's sound is becoming more and more distinct, whether he's built the track by the sea or on his London house boat you can be sure there will be a big bass wave to ride.Gerry Read - Taking care of the B side. Mr Read has also been gathering speed and stripes within the Bass scene, having just penned a contract with 2nd Drop Records. His physical releases are already getting spins from the likes of Giles Petterson on the BBC , MJ Cole, Untold plus more. He really has become a sound to be reckoned with. Read moved from the UK to a suburban post code in Australia and found little else to do except immerse himself in music. Wether he was making music or listening to old Jungle tapes his Australian sojourn has, in no small way helped to shape his sound and prepare him for his return to the UK. He's now banging out sets alongside Deep Space Orchestra, Eliphino, Szare and the rest.A side /// Lorca /// Moments - A unique track that really tests the sound systems. It's fuelled by the heavy bass and drums, layered with a hypnotic vocal which flows over the soundscape with ease. Suitable for all sorts of sets from House to Dubstep beats or Balearic .B side /// Gerry Read /// Nostalgic Mix - Read flips the vibe of the A side on its head. He creates a darker sparser production with this Garage inspired track, chopping up the vocal to form a nostalgic 2 steppy back drop. His reincarnation takes a different route but you still end up at the dance floor. Early morning business.

For Davey Jones' second voyage, we journey to the other side of the Atlantic to bring you two dark percussive machinations by Brooklyn's Sharmaji and DJ Wade. Best known as two members of the Sub Swara crew, who released their album 'Triggers' to critical acclaim earlier this year, this release finds them exploring more mysterious territory. Sharmaji goes in alone on the A-side with a unique take on the current 'percussion and bass' sound with a distinctly darker and warmer edge. A favourite of the likes of Ben UFO, this one does some serious dancefloor damage. The B side goes darker still, with an almost Shackleton-like take on tribal minimalism, disclosing Sharmaji's day job as a professional Tabla session musician.

Manchester duo A.n.D. are at the heart of Manchester's thriving electronic music community. Releases on labels such as Horizontal Ground, Inner Surface Music and Project Squared have solidified their reputation for finely honed and darkly swung techno. Here they present two weighty cuts for Bristol's Idle Hands label. 'Hydrothermal' is a stripped back 4/4 excursion with rattling hi-hats and lots of bass. 'Lights Down Low' rolls along on a syncopated techno beat, with deadly snares and a droning, almost industrial feel bringing to mind the work of Regis and T++.

Out of an 8.8 earthquake, riots and severe illness comes one of the most joyful records of the year. Brian Gibbs aka Echo Park has had a colourful life to say the least, living and making music in L.A., Tokyo, Madrid, Mexico City and now Santiago, Chile where he lives with his young family. Previously a producer of dark hip hop and dub, a series of disasters made him confront mortality and decide it was time to make the music that is closest to his heart: luscious, sunshine-infused electro-funk full of laid back attitude and 'real songs'.Skream has always been a lover of disco, boogie and electro - as anyone who's heard one of his specialist sets or his slick'n'sleazy remix of Chromeo will know. It took just one hearing of Brian's first Echo Park tracks via a mutual friend to snap them up for Disfigured Dubz. In fact he has chosen Echo Park for the first full album on the label... but first comes this killer single, a shmoooove bit of vocoder funk that sets the tone for Echo Park's twin obsessions with technology and romance. Bundled with it are a gutbusting ravemonster of a rework by 12th Planet & Flinch that somehow still keeps the soul of the track intact, and Jon Convex taking it way underground with a deeper-than-deep analogue techno version. There's something for everyone here and this is just the beginning.

Lauded by their peers Mistajam, Giles Peterson, Mary Anne Hobbs, and Sinden, their hyped sound, exploring fresh sonic territory has already had national airplay. Since his debut release on Dub Police back in 2008, Subscape has come a long way, quickly emerging as one of the most exciting young talents to come out of the dubstep scene. We are extremely proud to announce that he is returning stronger than ever with a brand new EP showcasing a decisive evolution in his sound.Kicking off the EP is the anthemic 'Turn Me On', a track built to cause havoc on any dancefloor. The dynamic combination of ecstatic synth lines and mechanized bass tones fuse together with the swinging snare hits to harness a new energy in Subscape's music. 'Square Albert' takes this energy and twists it on its head with galloping percussion and colourful rave-inspired synths before bursting into double time drum lines and shooting off in a new direction. 'Universal' is a step into the future carried by a gargantuan wave of bass pressure as the alien lead synth line soars high into the atmosphere and the growling bassline and destructive snares force the track home. Rounding off the vinyl package, 'Apple Candy' takes things deeper with seductive strings, yearning vocal samples and synth lines. With an ever-growing list of international bookings stretching out before him and a growing arsenal of music, it looks like his journey is only just beginning and we are proud to be a part of it. Watch this space!

- A. Dcult - Face The Sun

- C. Safire - Disperse
- D1: Krytikal - Selfish Ways
- D2: Fused Forces - Ocean Dawn
Area recordings has gone from strength to strength since it's inception, wielding high quality releases building on it's signature sound of deep beats, bass and musicality. The fifth release pushes the label's philosophy further with the introduction of six new artists to the roster. While a whole host of imitators re-reach for the sine wave and switch off their L.F.O.s, Essex's DCult has been sitting in the shadows perfecting his own sound. 'Face the Sun' harks back to the classic dubstep sound of rolling beats and bass clearly marking him as a producer to watch, travelling a narrow path between light and dark, mellow and fierce as his beats and bass will prove time and time again. Australia-based 3rdeye's 'Yonaguni Dreams' entwines sweet ethereal beauty with hard pulsating aggression. His detailed productions point to a wide range of influences - the lush chords and crackles of dubtechno, the atmospherics and melody of deep drum and bass, to the stark minimalism and enveloping sub bass of early dubstep. This is a mere glimpse in to the deep hypnotic sonic collages still to come from this truly original bass music wizard. Aeon is a Croation bass music producer who has one foot firmly on the accelerator. As an introduction of the sounds sweeping across the Adriatic Sea, 'Different Quotes' brings a different vibe to the label. Keeping things musically inclined with sweet vocals, lush pads, stuttering percussion, weighty drums and pulsing bassline, Aeon brings the funk representing the diversity of the Area sound to the fullest. Safire is an Australian producer who has been energizing the masses with his sets of deep and tech funk DnB and dubstep for many years. His 'Disperse' showcases a more tech-influenced side to dubstep with a dense amalgamation of sound hitting on elements from all artists featured on Area Recordings. Safire's music breathes much needed fresh air, showing that energy and aggression can be created with style, musicality and big production values often overlooked by the masses. Coming from the home of Area Recordings, Krytikal is a Birmingham based dubstep producer whose unique productions have an amazing sense of calm hidden amidst his deep tribal rhythms. 'Selfish Ways' is a stunning introduction to his work, bringing different meaning and context whenever it is played. Equally at home smashing up a dance floor as it is relaxing to over morning coffee, is tracks fully represent deep bass music. The finale of this musical revue comes from the dynamic duo that is Fused Forces. Showcasing a mellower side to their production style, 'Ocean Dawn' brings a soulful ambience with the sound of crashing waves and weighty drums building into and gut rumbling bass. A cracking track perfectly fitting into any forward thinking 140bpm DJ's set.
