A for Acid Jazz: GAZZARA , Their debut album 'One' (1996) featured the organist James Taylor (JTQ) as a special guest. B for Bossa: since their second album 'Grand Central Boogie' (1998) the band - originally from Rome, Italy - began a long journey into the brazilian sound of the 1960's. Their point of departure was a bossa nova cover of the Steely Dan classic 'Josie', also played live at the infamous Montreux Jazz Festival. H for House: following the third album 'The Spirit Of Summer' (2001) and a successful title track remix by Dave Warrin, GAZZARA became a name to remember on theinternational house music scene, being included in prestigious DJ charts (Masters At Work), highly successful compilations (Hotel Costes) and playing live in countries like Japan and Russia. L for Lounge: well-known HBO, TV serial 'Sex And The City' made extensive use of GAZZARA's instrumental lounge tracks in various episodes broadcasted around the world. Band leader Francesco Gazzara has also published a book titled 'Lounge Music'.

The Blue Hammock is an Electronic Duo formed by Paolo Paolini and Giovanni De Rosa. Their Headquarters is in their Production Studio called 'Groove' in Terni (Abbruzzo), an important and named Place for Top Italian and International Music Productionas having hosted over the years Artists such as: Mario Biondi, Amy Stewart, Katia Ricciarelli, Ellade Bandini and Awa Lee. The Blue Hammock are an International focal point in the Chill Out / Lounge circuit. Their version of "With Or Without You" (U2) with 'Cellar 55', was the opening Track of the Radio Montecarlo produced
"New Classic" compilation. To follow, two of their other tracks were selected for two different Volumes of the world's most famous compilation of lounge and chill out music, 'Buddha Bar' (Volume 3 and volume 6). Many of their Productions were used as background music in many National Television Programs including: Crimini, Crimini 2, Amici, La Prova del Cuoco, etc. and some of their Productions would become thesoundtrack of many national and international companies, among them, the long collaboration with 'Giorgio Armani Corporation'

On April, 20th the sixth Record Store Day will take place. Sonar Kollektiv has two very special goodies in store: There's the limited 300 copies 12inch of the Paskal & Urban Absolutes remix for Jazzanova's That Night.
The other goodie is a reinterpretation of Terry Callier's 900 Miles from 1968 by FETSUM. In honor of the soulfolk singer/songwriter, who sadly passed away in late 2012, the new stunning soul voice of Germany covers one of his all time favorite songs. A brave move which succeeded fairly and fittingly pays tribute to one of the most talentend musicians of our times. Sonar Kollektiv A&R manager Alex Barck is also a huge fan of Terry
Callier. After he recently has remixed FETSUM's Letters From Damascus so brilliantly it's a logical step to have him step in and turn FETSUM's cover into a club track. It's astonishing how Barck pushes the groove towards South America and still leaves air to breathe for FETSUM's voice .
Matt Karmil is less known as a remixer, but more as a versatile session musician and producer. For instance he played with Cee Lo Green, Siobhan Donaghy and Neneh Cherry and produced Portishead, Massive Attack, Sugababes, Patrice und Gorillaz. The fact that he now found some time to give an existing track his very personal note is Sonar Kollektiv's achievement and our luck. His delivery would even shine in the portfolio of, let's say DJ Shadow or Geoff Barrow. An outrageous attempt.

Scott Mou, known as one half of the duo Jane - the folk techno drone duo he had with Panda Bear - aswell as part of Manhattan's famous record store Other Music, debuts with his Soloproject Queens. 

Johan Jacobsen describes the wonderful music of Queens "in oxymorons; "colorful monochrome," "myopic depth," "sad joy," "driven slowness," "enlightened darkness," "universal intimacy ' , "ethereal earthboundness" ... As it should be. Queens is one of those wonderful artists who are hard to catch on the fly, who escapes easy definition. His music is an unexpected and unimagined universe ready to be explored, and it's a universe that is wonderful to be in."

When Dial Records' David Lieske and Peter Kersten listened to a performance of their New York based friend in 2009, it was one of those unforgettable unique experiences you only have once in a long while these days. The idea of releasing an album was born. The production of "End Times" involved other labelmates such as Phillip Sollmann aka Efdemin (recording), Kassian Troyer (mixing) and Hendrik Weber, who once joined a life performance on stage with Scott Mou in 2012.

it seems like young people in japan soon can't dance like crazy anymore because of the growing threats of the strange fuzoku law - one of the most surreal in japan's legal system which origins go back to 1948.
the law deals with restricting concerning the sale of sex and businesses of similar type. due to the ambiguous way of reading it the law also deals with nightclubs and related establishments that allow customers to dance.

For Fizzmann everything was blurry at first, and only after a little while, he was able to see clearly again. But he could remember anything about the car that hit him: It was an old, rusty van driven by a child or at least a very small person wearing a blue hood. "What a miserable little hit-and-run gnome! Looks as if even dogs have to face deadly risks every time they cross a road nowadays." Fizzmann's entire body was aching terribly: his head, back, tale and in particular his paws which he raised for closer examination. "Ouch! My poor little paws." He was horror-struck by what he saw: All his four paws smashed, broken, completely useless. Never again would he be able to play the piano or pick his nose again. Overwhelmed by grief and sorrow, Fizzmann wished he was far, far away, no matter where, only far away, and then cried himself to sleep. The last thing he noticed before he fell asleep were the faint silhouettes of two men, each of them having a remarkably beautiful, big nose. For the first two remixes of her album "Meine zarten Pfoten" (released on Pampa), and to add a certain ‚familiar smell', Ada pops by at Areal with none other than DJ Koze and Superpitcher who come up with remixes that couldn't be more different, and at the same time more wonderful.

Blue Hawaii, Arbutus Records and many of their Montreal counter- parts all began with the same breath in early 2010. To date Blue Hawaii has released an 8 song EP: in May of that year, Blooming Summer (Arbutus Records 2010) was recorded following the pair's travels in Central America. It frames a time of warmth and novelty, featuring dense female harmonies, tape saturated synths, guitars and drum machines. Eventually Ra- returned to her role in BRAIDS, touring constantly, while Ag- moved to Europe, treading deeper into dance music, electronics, and production. The two decided to make Untogether in 2012; they began recording on New Years Day in Vancouver and intermittently worked on the project until summer broke in Montreal. The music followed their winter in Canada, it became colder, more introspective. It again captured a time and place, but instead of a dense saturation of love and excitement, this record reflects the vast world of self-awareness and delicacy. It takes for its subject the question of belonging, despite overwhelming space. Musically, the production on the album is more spacious and physically it was recorded in separation. Despite this, it belongs together in its final form. It demonstrates successful creative process in a pair who composed apart, and in doing so it is a meditation on communication: how technology and art influence modern human relationships. It contains the vast space of two years passing, including watching their Montreal scene change as some launched into international success and others turned deeper inwards. Here, the album finds the conflict of separation/belonging to one's self and community. The duo notice that throughout the changing social and personal landscape which is one's twenties, these divided notions and people somehow stay together. Even the name Blue Hawaii suggests a kind of melancholic, jaded paradise, but a paradise afterall. It is because - or perhaps in spite of - these disjointed intersections that the record is called Untogether.

In an explosion of genre-bending crossover creativity, Texas-born, Brooklyn- based William Rauscher aka Night Plane claims our very first release. Since we first met William in 2010 we've watched his production talent flourish into what we proudly present to you today in 2012, the dance-floor approved Heartbeat EP. Showcasing William's guitar-driven dreamy indie-house style with vocal contribution from longtime hometown friend Casey Gibbs, this EP covers a wide range of Night Plane's repertoire. On 'Heartbeat' William delivers gritty punk-rock break-beat house, while Casey shoots for the moon channelling his inner Mick Jagger. The result is a call-and response seduction that will makes you feel extra tough in your leather. 'Gold Soundz' pairs William up with his CCC label partner DJ Harry Bennett, for a soaring and epic cover of the 90's alternative rock band Pavement. Smiles at sunrise for this late summer anthem that reminds us of teenage angst and long lost high-school crushes. Vocal stylings are courtesy of Heather D' Angelo from the band Au Revoir Simone. Papik is the project created by Nerio Poggi, Rome based musician, composer, producer and arranger who's been
getting a lot of positive response from the international Nu-Jazz / Jazz Lounge scene lately. His first album from
2009, 'Rhythm Of Life', included the song 'Staying For Good', sung by Alan Scaffardi, which became and still is a
hit of the genre. His collaboration with various artists, among which Mario Biondi in his albums 'Handful of soul'
and 'I love you more', brought him to produce in 2011 also the albums by Ely Bruna 'Remember The Time' and
Fred Buccini 'Unusual Nat'. Both are themed cover projects and obtained a great market feedback. On this new
'Music Inside' the lead vocals are again by Parma based Alan Scaffardi, official image of the band, together with
Nerio himself and Ely Bruna. Other featured vocalists are: Wendy D. Lewis, US singer very popular in Italy, due
to collaborations with Jestofunk, Mario Biondi, Ivana Spagna and Irene Grandi; Dagmar Segbers, German jazz
singer, Clizia Aloisi and Paco Di Maso. The firt single from the album will be 'Puzzle Of Life', sung by Ely Bruna,
already picked by Japanese fashion brand Gallardagallante as music theme for their 2012 campaign. Japan is in fact
a territory where Papik is extremely popular and will perform on 6th May at the legendary Tokyo Blue Note. The other
musicians involved in the tour and the album project are: Alfredo Bochicchio on guitar, Pierpaolo Ranieri on bass,
Fabio Tullio on sax, Massimo Guerra on trumpet, Marco Rovinelli on drums. Papik is quite well known in the UK
too! English singer Jason Donovan, with a Top Ten career behind him, thank to hits like 'Too man broken hearts'
or 'Especially for you' in duet with Kylie Minogue, has chosen a song penned by Nerio Poggi and Ely Bruna, 'Sign
of your love', as main tune on his come-back album by the same title, out on Universal worldwide in March 2012.
That song is also featured on this new Papik album, sung by Alan Scaffardi. Among the rest of the tracks on the
album also three covers 'Family Affair' (Mary J Blige), 'Black & Gold' (Sam Sparro) and 'Raccontami di te' (Bruno
Martino).

Dusty Baron aka Latecomer may be a recent arrival on the scene, but he plays like a true veteran. A mysterious export from the around same eastern latitudes as label boss Vakula, his music, much like V's, sounds just as rooted in the post Soviet Russian landscape as it is in the post industrial North America which gave rise to all the soul and machine funk that is the driving inspiration for so many of today's roots conscious electronic artists.

Vakula takes the controls on Side A with dubwise and exotic production skills whilst Side B showcases The Baron's heavy heavy chops, with drum programming as deft as his keys work, and a sound which is equal parts earthly and heavenly. Sides C & D (on bonus 7") see V step up to offer two takes on 'Follow Shot', continuing the theme of techno tinged jazz cosmism.

A noble introduction, by way of collaboration, to the Dusty Baron and his sound; and yet another installment in Leleka's continuing contribution to the musical space time continuum.

What exactly has happened to all the Chillout Floors Once being an indispensable place for cozy hangouts and relief at every good party, they calmly dissipated in the last decade. They were eventually replaced with second and third floors, all with the same standardized 'four to the floor' sound without attitude. And now Noom Café come with an album that sounds like being made in the best times of the Chillout Era. Is there a Chillout revival coming upon us For Noom Café this is not the question. They live for relaxed beats and low key soundscapes ever since. Their new Album 'Beyond Time, released by the Frankfurt label 'Elux', is like a fresh breeze on a Balearic evening in summer. Within the first minutes of the albums opener 'Baracoa', the listener gets a very clear impression of the musical quality of Noom Café. Acoustic instruments and swinging beats, like in 'Blue Sky',melt into electronic pads and reverberant vocal samples. In this manner Noom Café are creating their very own world, far away from the hectic of everyday life. Anyhow, a day at the beach touches on more than just sunshine. 'Beyond Time' takes the listener away from the worn out paths of the genre and sends him on a journey to darker sound realms. Reminiscences of Dubstep and Deephouse ('The Awakening (Next Day Mix)') are as well audible as the exuberant and almost progressive moments of 'Glass' und 'Stormy Beach.' Electric and experimental beats take control over the second half of the longplayer and guide the listener into the night just to smoothly embrace him again with the jazzy closing track 'Don't Fall Asleep'.Altogether 'Beyond Time' is much more than a typical chillout album. Noom Café takes you to their very own beach and it is a pleasure to share this voyage with them.

Enzo Elia has been at it again, hard at work in the studio producing his next batch of Balearic Gabba Edits for Hell Yeah Rec. - the fourth in the series. Reception for the project so far has been great, with the likes of Prins Thomas, Sean Johnston, Tim Sweeney, Oskar Hofferman amongst the many fans, whilst Quiet Village have already been caning the A2 from this new instalment. The three tracker kicks off with Psycho Team's - 'Hypno' (Enzo Elia Barini Edit) - in its original form first released back in 1989 on Dance and Waves - and is all about restrained rave chord stabs, a crunchy amen break and layers of found sounds right from some basement party as the sound of voices and whistles are buried somewhere in the background behind intense drums and infectious finger clicks: a classy peak time floor filler and no mistake. And so to Quiet Village's favourite, also from 1989, Psycho Team's - 'Psycho' (Enzo Elia That Morning Edit) which is a much more delicate and moody affair. Watery synths ring out in all directions as gentle melodic rains falls down the face of the harmonised arrangement. Eventually a frazzled synth line takes the lead as strings dart about in the background but never do the knife-edge emotions dissipate. Last but not least is Endangered People - 'So I Want to Say (Ta Ta Ta') (Enzo Elia Ultra Dub edit) which was originally released in 1995 on Mantra Vibes. In the hands of Enzo the track is paired down to a bubbling sonic stew of taught synth lines, analogues bubbles and gurgles and icy percussion. It's a primordial soup of sound that doesn't drop or breakdown, but instead percolates and builds slowly for 7 odd minutes until ending up as a marching techno beat straight from the ruins of Detroit.
