Luca Lozano is an illustrious musical figure capable of shining light into the night and casting shadows on bright spaces. Also a renowned graphic and graffiti artist, his debut solo album takes a broader, multifaceted approach; moving from slow to fast; textured to simple; from dark to light; 'Life In Black & White' covers new terrain for the young producer that maps his evolution and declassification. The Air Texture Volume Series asks two producers to curate a CD each of more experimental electronic music for combined release. Volume 3 asked Scott Monteith (Deadbeat) and Gregor Asch (DJ Olive) to make the selections. With so much attention on beats, dance, and parties as a function of electronic music, what happens when you take those things away Does it become more compositional, more personal, more contemplative

Again the record is rich in hypnotically woven sounds with a resolute mood reminiscent of film music. In keeping with the previous two albums, the instrumentation is made up of largely classical acoustic instruments which are layered in loops to create mesmerising soundscapes and are originally composed as part of her art exhibitions. In addition to the traditional instruments such as Violoncello, Spanish and Electric Guitar and Banjo all played by Melián herself, the album also features synthesizer and even a Mellophonium played by guest instrumentalist Ching Ying Hsieh. Once again Michaela has been assisted on the production by fellow Freiwillige Selbskontrolle band member namely the drummer Carl Oesterhelt. And as with her former albums on monika, Baden-Baden and Los Angeles, Melián plays tribute to a musical hero - this time David Bowie, in the form of a cover song with her renidition of Scary Monsters. This rendition at the end of side one is the only lyrical relief on an otherwise instrumental album. Otherwise the compositions explore the realm of soundart and ambience, drifting pieces with a dark and melancholy beauty. The music is atmospheric, brooding and contemplative. Such are the conceptual similarities between this an Melián's previous two albums on monika that this could easily be seen as sides 5 and 6 of a triple album. We're extremely proud to present 'Lost', the third full-length venture from Anders Trentemøller. 'Lost', much like its predecessor 'Into the Great Wide Yonder' (2010), serves not only as a logical continuation of his work, but also as yet another fuck-you to whatever genre you thought you had him boxed into. The Trentemøller sound is definitely left intact, yet as a whole it really doesn't sound like anything he's ever produced before. Differing from 'Into The Great Wide Yonder', which was a rather bold cinematic landscape, 'Lost' is definitely a far more streamlined affair and way more 'song structured'. It's the kind of record one can only produce after endless months of studio isolation. Just where his creativity flourishes best.

You open the door. You take a step into the cool fog of a new morning. It's the hour before sunrise and
while somewhere the remains of last nights party beats are hovering in the air, the wind carries broken
scraps of a singer/ songwriter piece through the haunting haze your way.The night made way for a
new day. A day, when everything will be different.
Change, transformation, developement- these have always been the motor behind Berlins electronica
duo Dapayk& Padberg. On their 4th longplayer they might now have made the most uncompromising
step during their 10 year carreer in wich they have become one of europes most fascinating Clubacts.
Their magic formula Looking for alternatives. With their longplayer - Smoke' they bid a temporary
farewell to the dancefloor. They are taking new paths, searching, trying new, never before seen
patterns. These paths led the duo from the golden hills of the Provence to the dark autumnal
lowlands at the border between scotland and england. The influence of those places is felt throughout
the whole record with its atmospheric hybrid-tracks.
After their last album - Sweet Nothings' with its summery/ funky sound Dapayk& Padberg are now
opening the door to a gloomy-melancholic world. While - Sweet Nothings' was a balancing act between
clubsound and Listening-Electronica the duo is now turning its back on the dancefloor, to take the
listener on an accustic tour through their personal Amber Room. With their Chamber-Electro mix,
containing characteristics of dubstep, catchy pop-elements, classical string arrangements and and a
singer/songwriter-like intimacy, they achieve to create new sound-rooms.
- The time we spent in scotland was the most creative and productive time we ever had,' explaines Eva
Padberg. - It was a wonderful experience to get up in the morning, have breakfast and after a long walk
in the drizzling rain have nothing else to do then to sit in front of the log fire with a glass of whiskey in
our hands and work on new tracks...'Dapayk& Padberg's albums have always been snapshots of
their current inspirational and emotional world- with - Smoke' they have now created their most
consistent and self contained collection of songs to date. Against all expectations, sometimes even
against their own nature as artists, letting go of all too familiar and comfortable structures. - Smoke' is
all about overcoming those lines between different genres, letting go, opening their mind to the new,

- without worrying about fitting into a certain niche or having to compromise', Eva adds. - When we had
the structure for about two thirds of the album set up, we realized that we're heading into some dark
waters. I think with this album we found ourselves more than ever and maybe even grew up a bit..'
Growing up in fast times, in wich Niklas Worgt produces numerous club projects for the insatiable
nightlife and Eva Padberg counts as one fashions most sought after faces. - Smoke' is their escape
with which Dapayk& Padberg transport an atmosphere that possibly noone would have expected in its
intensity. - For us it's always been about finding the cracks and about contrast', Niklas adds. - It's about
challenging the listener. For me there is nothing more boring than over-produced, clean
computermusic.'
Almost no track ends as it begins. - Silent Fireworks' with its song like structure brings to mind the
hymns of Lamb, Jamie Woon or James Blake. Evas voice delivers a broken intimacy which is carried
by Niklas' adventurous- sophisticated sound structures. The hypnotic - No Words' starts out with Evas
ethereal-fragile vocals spun around a dry, blurred electronica track to then explode into a huge,
unknown universe of sounds. Dark energy in its purest form, as is the morbid - Headless Queen' which
was inspired by the imprisonement and execution of Mary Queen of Scots in 1587.
- In Scotland there are reminders of drama and tragedy on every corner', says Eva about her
influences. - Everywhere there are stories about clan fights and plaques have been put up to keep the
memory of people who have lost their lives during those darker times alive. Those sometimes cruel
and bizarre stories, paired with the breathtaking views we enjoyed during our time there, have
definitely left their mark on the album.'
The inspiration for the album title came not only from those cold days spent in scotland but also has its
historic routes in Niklas' family tree.'my grandmother is a true well of inspiration. She told me that she
was faintly related with the austrian painter Oskar Kokoschka - so I decided to name one of my
projects Kokoschka. But also, that there was a blood relative on her side of the family who came from
England by the name Smoke. The name has been spooking around in my head for years and I always
wanted to name an EP or track after it. We thought that it was an excellent title for the album.'
- Also, the track `Smoke´captures the atmosphere of the album perfectly', Eva agrees. - I learned a lot
about myself and the both of us while making this album. Sometimes I was quite surprised about the
dark thoughts going through my head, since I am generally not a sad person. I think those songs were
a good an healthy way to face that side of myself. In my profession it is expected of me to always
represent the perfect side of life, after a while it gets boring to always be glamourous and radiant.
Flawlessness bores me, this record is my antidote. But at the same time it has something sane and
concilitory: on the opener `Drowning inside you´ you drown in the other person and on the last track
`Dance in your flame´ your dancing together in the fire..'

The last 12' in the Invisible Sunrise remix series and to say they've saved the best until last would be unfair on all the other amazing remixes but this really is a doozy.
Quiet Village do what they do best...an exceedingly epic 13 minute tropical jungle chugger that transcends time and space to take you on a trip you're never going to forget.
Without a doubt one of the best things we've heard from QV in quite some time.
On the flip The Advisory Circle provide what is perhaps the most beautiful remix....melodic, inventive and deeply lush. An anthemic come down for those moments when you need a big audio hug. Simply gorgeous.
Lastly Seahawks leave us with an unreleased mix of Crystal Beach which sounds like George Benson tripping his nuts off on a beach in Hawaii at 5AM....languid jazz guitar, slo mo beats, the sound of the waves and some deep electronics...what more could you want...Seahawks at their finest and one more reason this is an essential purchase.

The Freemartin Calf is a labour-of-love film and soundtrack, created in the home workshops of filmmaker Jayne Amara Ross and composer Frédéric D. Oberland, with the significant contribution of cellist Gaspar Claus. Written in 2008 as a deliberation on the creative process, the film relates a day in the life of a young girl and her mother as they brave two very separate realities governed by the desire to both reject, and conform to, the societal roles imposed upon them. Shot on super 8 between 2009 and 2010 and scored during the spring and summer months of 2010, The Freemartin Calf is imbued with a delicate fragility synonymous with the inner experience of its protagonists.

On the 26th of July, 2013, Sine Music will be releasing the new album from Softwaver entitled Movies for Listeners. The album will be available online at all well-known download-stores and also as a limited-edition CD in retail stores. Softwaver is the producer and musician Alex Houser from Berlin who has been active in the electronic music segment for some time now and has several releases under his belt with labels such as Lemongrass Music or Ambiente Domain. He was also responsible for compiling the series Ideal Chill compilations. Softwaver has found a niche
somewhere between Bonobo, Moby, Mike Oldfield and Depeche Mode. Funken presents berlin based solo clarinet-player and performer Andreas Ernst aka RANDWEG along with the first album EQUISETALES. RANDWEG portrays the theme of a journey that moves (and represents a thread between) while sketching the tiny little things beside the pathway. Following Andreas Ernst's debuts tracks and cooperations with Ellen Allien on Sool, Der Dritte Raum's SWING BOP and his live appearances with the electronic act Der Dritte Raum, he presents us nine tracks on EQUISETALES with a Krautrock and Jazz affair - coupled with ethereal sonic environments, and a surprising variety of sounds that come from his clarinet. It could be said that EQUISETALES is carefully sequenced to a narrative structure: beginning with ‚ARMY OF ANTS' a 5/4 time signature track that almost visualises the vitality of formicary and then ending in the mellow wilderness of ‚YOFA.' RANDWEG utilizes little, electronic instruments. *In these recordings, L. Pierre pays an affectionate tribute to the wear and tear of overplayed vinyl; the hiss, scratch and pop of records long loved but worn down. It's the sound of survival, the echoes of a life lived well; moth eaten music of dasness and resilience, of beauty and backbone.

*'Lucky' Pierre's musical training began at the age of three in his family flat in the quiet village of Camelon in the Falkirk District of Central Scotland. As he ate with his grandfather on a damp, cold, mid-1970s morning, the young boy was deeply moved by the song that flowed from their cheap tinny radio. There was something profoundly powerful about Julie Covington's rendition of Don't Cry For Me Argentina that Pierre was yet too young to comprehend, but this serendipitous moment led to a lifelong pursuit of drama, strings and loveliness. After a spell of numerous dalliances with songwriting, performance and a generous array of emotional stimulants, it was a mere twenty-four years later that saw 'Lucky' release the first fruit of these passions, the wryly titled Pierre's Final Thought, in the first year of the new century. He now lives in Scotland's largest city, Glasgow, where his myriad enthusiasms are often sated but never diminished.

Seahawks return once again with a supremely psychedelic dip into the ocean of sound. 'Aquadisco' was originally conceived as a 2 track 12' but spun out of control by a fast moving cyclone developed into an epic double vinyl journey to the depths.

It's not easy to put a tag on the kaleidoscopic sound contained within although 'Sun Ra jamming with Level 42 on a Caribbean Yacht produced by Conny Plank' comes close.
Spaced out aquatic afro jazz, interstellar lilo funk and new age disco are just a few of the ports of call.
A concept album of sorts, 'Aquadisco' imagines a time when instead of fleeing into space to avoid calamity, mankind is relocated deep beneath the waves.
'In the clubs there's a new sound...it reminds people of when they used to live on the surface, when they could go to real beaches and feel the warmth of the sun, taste the salt and feel the breeze in their hair.
