Extra Virgin was the first release for British Trip Hop band Olive, released in 1996. This album defined Olive's style, spawning three singles, 'You're Not Alone', 'Outlaw', and 'Miracle'. The Trip Hop influence of Massive Attack and Portishead, while in small quantities, are evident, mixed in with synth-based electronic dance.

A year after its initial release, Olive's debut album Extra Virgin produced a number one British hit with 'You're Not Alone,' a low-key Trip-Hop number with a graceful melody. It's a strong single, and there are similarly strong moments on Extra Virgin.

The band created some samples by recording live sounds, edited and subsequently filtered. Synthesizers used on the album were a Roland Juno-60, an E-mu Systems Vintage Keys, and an Akai S3000XL sampler. All in all this makes for an organic, trippy experience.

A joint release by LA's Hippos In Tanks and Montreal's Arbutus Records, the Darkbloom EP is a thrilling split by d'Eon and Grimes. Harnessing the dark energy of her sophomore album Halfaxa, along with the shimmering dream pop of her debut Geidi Primes, Grimes' side represents a synthesis of her two sonic personalities. Displaying a level of clarity and craftsmanship heretofore unseen in her releases, Boucher presents a stunning new collection of ethereal dreamscapes that expand her creative palette without compromising the spectral presence she is known for. Following the Middle-Eastern-tinged R&B of 2010's Palinopsia, d'Eon broadens his stylistic breadth through reference to a number of electronic genres - for example, he simultaneously incorporates elements of Chicago footwork and new jack swing, but surprises the listener with strange forays into bygone genres such as UK drum and bass and trip hop. Presently available worldwide on CD and Digital formats, Darkbloom will be available on vinyl, for the frst time in many territories, on May 20th, 2016.

Back to the year 1999 with beats getting dope as dope can. Four untitled tracks produced by Michael O'Connell for the formerly Cologne-based label Hotel Lotte bring out the very best in Dope Beats, Instrumental HipHop, Downtempo, TripHop, NuJazz or whatever you'd like to call it.

Laid back with a funky attitude this once limited to 700 copies pressing popped up again in a dusty Berlin-basement only recently, where a only a few boxes were waiting for rediscovery for the past 15 years. Essential for all beat lovers.

Alex Rendall spins a delicate web of words over a
chilling beat, rich in texture and detail, created by the
crate-digging producer Amos Childs, collectively known
as JABU of the Young Echo collective.
The pair collaborate on the frst vinyl release on the
No Corner label to tell two sonic tales of love and
loss - one that everyone can relate to, put in suitably
abstract terms. Rendall's voice paints a vivid picture of
after-hours melancholy, backed by delicately effected
percussion and haunting pads.
The fip side - You & I, a JABU set staple has been
remixed by another Young Echo member, Kahn.
Retaining the delicate textures of the original, Rendall's
voice softens and his wordplay becomes even more
effortless -

The hugely successful first colour vinyl edition sold out in only 2 weeks from release date so due to demand we are already repressing this instant classic! We appreciate that the expensive luxuriously packaged first edition was not for everyone's budget so the second edition is standard black vinyl and a regular sleeve design. These changes have brought the cost back in line with a standard double LP without cheapening the product and is still a superior quality package compared to many other independent releases.

The artwork has been tweaked to work with the standard sleeve format which is presented on heavyweight 380gsm card and is factory sealed in shrink wrap instead of plastic sleeves. We kept the original hype sticker design to retain the overall aesthetic from the first edition along with the same full colour insert but have included an extra information sticker for the back cover with track listing. We have also kept to double vinyl for pressing quality and have even reworked the label design as we found that the first edition labels didn't suit black vinyl quite the same as the colour vinyl edition so even though this is aimed at being cheaper than the first pressing we're still paying close attention to detail.

So as to be able to reach a wider audience we have added a Compact Disc release to the formats available which is presented in a factory sealed card sleeve with full colour inner sleeve so that the design remains in line with the vinyl issue.

It's been just over a year since the launch of Electro-Blues Vol.1. After an incredible 14 months programming stages from Glastonbury to Bestival and monthly residencies in London and Brightons club land, Freshly Squeezed now return with the second instalment of this groundbreaking compilation series and a further 12' vinyl sampler lifted from it.

'a day in the life' - the brand-new ambient and beyond album by lawrence, confirms this assumption - yet no world really collapsed on the dj and producer from hamburg. instead his emotional perception danced upon friendship and wanderlust and he put together twelve tracks for an album dedicated to his long lasting relation to toshiya kawasaki, man of action behind labels like mule musiq, endless flight and mule electronic, and the artist stefan marx.

besides co-running the label dial and the mathew gallery in berlin lawrence is constantly releasing music on his own labels and befriended platforms like smallville records. furthermore the north german regularly contributes to kawasaki's imprints mule musiq and electronic. just recently he dropped the ep 'blue mountain' on mule musiq - a deep emotional foretaste of what 'a day in the life' delivers on album length.

the music he shares on his latest long player isn't linked to a special place or event. he mostly produced it up-road on his dj trips around the globe including toshiya's homeland japan. back in his cosy backyard studio in hamburg he finished all musical pieces and mixed them down with a lot of joy.

they are listening to great track names like "nowhere is a place" or "lost in joy", which allow in combination with the lovingly detailed sounds imaginative mind games. in terms of style ambient calls the tune and opens the genre into the wide open with the very own musical and emotive language of lawrence.

a track like 'nowhere is a place' spreads smoothly twisted spectral vibes with blurring sounds that could easily originate from alienated instruments like a damaru or a conch horn. lawrence himself keeps it secret and let the music speak for itself. sometimes soft sizzling noise slides under gentle balanced ambient air like in the track 'the visit'.

in other arrangements he let the chords dance with cute smacking electronic glimpses or odd slow-motion melodies remind on the work of hans-joachim roedelius and his love for the gentle swing.

all compositions float and sound like the improvisations of a virtuoso who has forgotten his virtuosity in order to drown real deep in his creations. for lawrence the album is 'a triple buddy record' as not only his emotional content is included in the finished product. also his friends stefan marx - who is in charge for the artwork - and mule musiq head toshiya kawasaki have been profoundly involved in the outcome.

'since ten years the three of us work together. the record shows this very nicely in terms of our love for ambient music and cover artwork. the cover shows stefan's sublet apartment in nyc - also a very ambient place.
the idea for the record emerged out of a sudden inspiration and this fits prefect to the way how toshiya runs a label where sharing a good natural wine is more important than marketing.'

lawrence confesses about the genesis of 'a day in the life' and its emotional content. it is a weightless one where all feelings are stored supremely in what you can hear, see and hold in hand. and they are not made for them alone. they are there to share.

It was inevitable: since their first collaboration in 2012 for the making of the track 'Tá bom', the MC and the trio were constantly having their paths crossed, either in studio or on stages. It was then, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the label in the beautiful Réunion island, and around a glass of rum and a cigar that the decision was made: The Journey will be release in October 2015 and the trip is about to start...
For its production, the three 'Chinese' disciples will draw from the darkest record bins: Banjo method, 30's music, flutes from the Andes... the goal rather is simple: step out from the usual territory used by the sample addicts and get as far away as possible from the hip-hop to then come back with new perspectives. Five of the titles were produced by Chinese Mab and one by LeYan and Tomapam.

In parallel, six instrumental versions complete the album, including great contributions from Hugo Kant, Le Syndicat Du Chrome and Scratch Bandits Crew. Tumi's texts, in their turn oscillate permanently between mockery and bitterness. Behind the humor and punchlines, Tumi shares his vision of the music world and his place in it.

In studio the group decides to foster a sense of urgency so as to preserve a rough aspect and a live energy at the heart of this adventure. The Journey is recorded in six days, in the home of the Chinese Man, in Marseille. For this project, the BPM are accelerated, the samples intertwined and the MCs' flows go back to the basics.

Tumi and Chinese Man chose to invite Taiwan MC for featuring and to bring forward the new guard of South African MCs with Khuli Chana and Youngsta CPT!

Francisco Lopez's La Selva masterpiece re-edited, re-mastered and available for the first time on vinyl. La Selva
is an immersion into the sound environments of a tropical rain forest in the Caribbean lowlands of Costa Rica. An astonishing natural sonic web created by a multitude of sounds from rain, waterfalls, insects, frogs, birds, mammals and even plants, through a day cycle during the rainy season. A powerful acousmatic broad-band sound environment of thrilling complexity. And above all, a tour de force of profound listening. Original recordings done at La Selva Biological Station during the rainy seasons of 1995 and 1996. La Selva was premiered in an acousmatic performance at Teatro Fanal of the Fanal Contemporary Art Center in San José, Costa Rica, on August 1997.

J-Zen is a French producer signed on Dooinit music, his style is a mixture of heavy beats and samples crushed to the point of making them unrecognizable.

He made his debut on the beatmaking scene with his first beat-tape called Breakfast, but it's with Guilty Pleasure EP, alongside Shawn Jackson and Substantial and released in 2010, that he really revealed himself to the public.

Since then, he's collaborated with Georgia Anne Muldrow & Declaime on the single 'God Music', a custom-made production for the California duo, and has shared the stage with the greatest (DJ Premier, Dilated Peoples,...)

His first album Managua is available now. Started between Rennes and Paris, recorded in California, Berlin, NYC, Paris, Portland, mixed in San Diego, mastered in LA and Costa Rica, this project and J-Zen have traveled a lot to finish their trip in Managua, where he stayed for a few months.

Wow - Black Dynamite's second strike for Tenderpark ventures even more into Hip-Hop territory than his successful first EP back in 2012. Ivano Tetelepta, the man behind Black Dynamite has created three casual and well-hung tracks which form a fascinating hybrid between leftfield House and instrumental Hip-Hop. All tracks have been recorded on an oldschool analogue tape machine to create a warm vintage feeling which subtly underlines the musical deepness of these beat-centered creations. James Lavelle who founded Mo'Wax in the 90s has always been highly regarded as a musical and artistic innovator and it's this approach that attracted him to Elliott when remixing a track for him last year. So much so that James took the step of reigniting Mo'Wax soley for this release and partnering with Elliott's label Marathon Artists on a creative & musical journey that takes you through genre-defying sounds of club-savvy soul, UK bass and paranoid trip-hop.

Medical Records continues on it's exploration of seminal 1990s reissues with the 1994 masterpiece "Silver Apples Of The Moon" by England's Laika. Originally released on the iconic Too Pure label in 1994, this record has long been out of print on vinyl. The members of Laika hailed from various interesting places. Margaret Fiedler was actually born in Chicago but relocated to London to pursue musical interests and was one of the vocalists and songwriters for Moonshake (also on Too Pure) as well as a previous member of Ultra Vivid Scene. Guy Fixsen was (and still is to this very day), a renowned audio engineer and producer. In fast, he was involved in the infamous production of My Bloody Valentine's "Loveless". The bass player John Frenett was also in Moonshake and left that band the same time as Fiedler after their first USA tour. The drummer, Lou Ciccotelli, had previously played in Kevin Martin's band God. The band also had a saxophonist, Louise Elliot. "Silver Apples Of The Moon" was Laika's first album and is almost unclassifiable. Taking a very forward-thinking approach, the sound is the result of a very unique equation of live drums/percussion, layered guitars/samples, and diverse analog tones that all fuse together to form a hypnotic polyrhythmic combination that was truly original. Too Pure was known for it's cutting edge roster including Seefeel, Mouse On Mars, and Pram. Laika was certainly no exception to these game-changing artists. The opening track "Sugar Daddy" explodes from the first note into a percussive frenzy that is quite dizzying before it smolders a bit and is layered with various samples that propel the track. "Coming Down Glass" exudes a more mutated trip-hop form with thick powerful bass lines. Other standout tracks include the intense "Red River" and the harder track "44 Robbers". While it is exceedingly difficult to draw any similarities of this album with other artists, one can make loose associations (or at least influenced by) some of the most challenging percussive experiments of Miles Davis, the brilliant exotica of Martin Denny, and the gut churning bass magic created by Jah Wobble in early PIL. Fans of the crucial and long lasting mark left by the Too Pure artists such as Pram and the like will definitely need to own this album if they have never heard it. For most fans, the original vinyl LP was not available or accessible (especially in the USA). The masters for which this reissue is sourced were directly transferred from the vinyl master source material courtesy of Beggars Limited with the utmost care and quality. The LP jacket features similar original artwork, and the LP contains a bonus insert with an engaging interview and write up by Dave Segal featuring exclusive interviews with Guy Fixsen and Margaret Fiedler. Presented on high-quality 180gram heavyweight colored vinyl.

Mikkel Meyer steps into a new territory of electronic music. Meyer has been inspired by various new/freak/lo-fi/indie folk artists and uses chord progressions from these styles to shape his music; the chords though are played on classic music machines like the Roland 808 and 303. The result is newfound melodies combined with the low-key use of vocals, which gives 'Jolly' a very personal, outward and nostalgic fingerprint, inviting you to dance and reflect.

'RIVEN' by ULLI BOMANS comes straight from the heart of SHITKATAPULT, both personally and musically. As Schieres and Shrubbn!! (with T.Raumschmiere), ULLI BOMANS has been releasing uncompromising electronic music since the day the Berlin Label was founded. But BOMANS' main work is actually as a visual artist in Hamburg (and Bremen), which is also how the cover of RIVEN originated - an illustration of his work 'MISSING SHIPS' from his last exhibition ('SPOILPARK') in Bremen. His work consists mostly of large-scale collages, which are aptly referred to as urban sampling and are closely related to his music production. So it seemed more than logical for a late debut album to forgo the alias and come with an authentic author's album as this
