Second vinyl sampler of Occulti Music's latest album project. We kick off with Jumpets by long time drum & bass veteran Electrosoul System. It's an uplifting slice of drum & bass with infectious vocal cuts, smooth chords and perfect balanced lightweight drums. On the flip Agbo dives into the deepness with a minimal, hypnotic halfstepper. This is 100% soundsystem music with ethnic influences and plenty of bassweight for the get-down crew. Keep an eye out for this guy!

After spending recent months remixing the likes of Childish Gambino, MK and Wretch 32, Friction presents the second volume of his trailblazing Vs series. Having kicked down doors last year with Volume 1 with heavyweights Total Science, Fourward and Jakes, the second chapter provides two distinct tracks featuring studio scientist Icicle and Desire Paths creators Technimatic. Friction's uncompromising dancefloor style combined with each artist bringing their own unique flavour to proceedings, the new Vs chapter raises the bar once more.

Bristol's Facta and Hodge are a pair of rising young producers who, more than most, have absorbed the influence of Tempa's early music and wielded it to create something defiantly their own. Hodge has been on a powerful run of form over the last two years, with a string of acclaimed 12's for Livity Sound, Idle Hands and Hotline striking a unique balance between brutalist sub-bass muscle and vortex-like whirls of voice and percussion. Facta's releases for Soundman Chronicles and Idle Hands have been equally striking - dark, hypnotic and dread-filled rollers for the moodiest of dancefloors.
You can hear both producers' approaches vying for attention on this collaborative 12', and the resulting tension turns the atmosphere electric. 'Spheres Of Costa Rica' draws a glancing sample of traditional chanted music into a dubbed-out, sidewinding riddim that seems to sink deeper and deeper as it plays, drawing your mind and feet along with it. Flip the record and 'Visions' mesmerises you further still: its swung drums summon the ghosts of UK garage, but blast them out into deep space, where fragmentary whorls of noise and firestorm sub-bass erupt all around you. As an EP it's a bold statement from all parties: dark, unerringly forward-thinking new music that takes Tempa's legacy in a vital new direction.

Limited Pink Vinyl!. Kokeshi changes the tempo this time offering two tunes from Russia's Bulb. 'Tenderness' comes with an 80s Vangelis vibe that offers the emotional aesthetic that Kokeshi is known for. With its non 2 step beats it won't be recognisable as drum'n'bass despite having the same tempo as most d'n'b tunes. For the DJ's, catch the flip side which offers a dance-floor friendly yet uber deep feel from the d'n'b tune 'Heartless'.

For release number four Soul Intent comes up with something truly special......
The Fruit Club was a big nod back to the famous 'Fruit Club' night that was held at the Brunel Rooms in Swindon throughout the 90s. This is where Soul Intent first heard dnb as it should be via underground hero's like Doc Scott, Kemistry & Storm, DJ Lee. Infact the label artwork has been designed around their old flyers (big up to DJ Fadyz & Stephen Reid for permission to use the Fruit Club logo).
The track itself features all the elements of those classic mid 90s tracks along with production and arrangement straight out of 2015. On hearing Soul Intent drop it as his first tune Dillinja hunted Alex down and asked for the tune, which he smashed in every set throughout the busy 2014 festival season. Dropping the track at Outlook both Doc Scott and Xtra run up to the DJ booth asking Dillinja what the track was. This kind of DJ support helped the track become one of the hottest dubplates of 2014.
Would Have Loved You has been getting a lot of interest from DJ's and clubbers alike. Jeanette Thompson's beautiful vocals (written herself) ride over a tough break and sinister distorted bassline. A fine example of Soul Intents love of combining rough with smooth with that classic 90s headz vibe thrown in for good measure.
Rude Raver is a out and out dancefloor roller. Packed with samples from the early hardcore era where labels like Reinforced owed the UK underground rave scene. A distinctive synth riff, ragga vocals and a fast paced break make this a sure fire killer in the club. A Straight up club track, and we're not ashamed to say so.

* Following a string of successful label releases in a short period of time, DLR is ready to unleash his debut solo album on Dispatch Recordings, entitled 'Seeing Sounds'.
* Having previously collaborated with Octane on the 'Method In The Madness' album, DLR has quickly established his own signature sound; an instantly recognizable groove mischievously poking through the mix, terrorizing dancefloors in a truly unique way.
* As an album concept, 'Seeing Sounds' is DLR's exploration into sound design and how the manipulation of organic elements and subtle soundscapes can create imagery within the music; to set the scene and immerse the listener up to a cinematic level.
* Commencing this quest from abstract beginnings, DLR investigates over a selection of different formats and styles, ranging from the tantalizing neck snapper 'Charlie Brown' to sinister breakbeat nonchalance of 'I Found Out'. * Inviting external influences to the fold; specially selected guests join the project to explore further, including Total Science, creating the cataclysmic 'Control The Sound', Hydro, the ambient chords and emotive vocal sample in 'Empyreal' and partner in crime Break, resulting in the mighty, yet constrained 'Human Error'.
* Since Resident Advisor's initial announcement, the album has had support from all corners, including Noisia, Friction (numerous Radio 1 plays), Goldie, Calyx & Teebee and The Upbeats, with Mixmag selecting it as their February 'Album of the Month'.
* With an innate understanding of the technology available and a shrewd willingness to exploit it, 'Seeing Sounds' is the culmination of DLR's very best work to date.

Straight out of the Czech Republic come the ferocious electronic exploits of scene stalwart, Forbidden Society. Heavily influenced by the industrial sounds synomous with drum & bass during the 'golden era', FS's hardline take draws on pioneers such as Ed Rush and Tech Itch, whilst bringing a little of his own punk ethos into the mix. The results are not for the faint hearted and with his second album ready to kick off 2015, 'Throne Crusher' looks set to cement his status as Czech's most major league drum & bass producer.
'I have been working on this album for the past 2 years. After my 'To The Threshold' and 'Resist The Pressure' LP's in 2012, I wanted this album to be somewhat different. It's my own take on that European neurofunk sound. From straight up rolling drum & bass to more experimental tunes, 110 bpm business and halftempo Amen smashers, there's a lot here. There's also a little oldschool influence in there, remember the reese bass.. I miss those days!
It's been such a huge project for me, so much time and hard work but ultimately so much fun. All the mixdowns and mastering was by own fair hands! Anyway go press play, turn it up and enjoy.' Forbidden Society

Shepard´s Scale - German DJ and producer Carlos Süß, known as Colourz, returns with a smashing tune using a sound phenomenon also known as the "sonic barber's pole". This tune is creating a massive audio illusion that just leaves the crowd wondering wherever the pitch will take them.
For sure you may have heared an older version of that tune on sets by Andy C, Netsky and a Hospital Podcast back in 2011. Colourz revamped the tune for this final release.

* OVERVIEW: The seventh 12' release on Fanu's Lightless imprint is an energetic, funky yet melodic journey through a twisting and shifting rhythmic landscape.
The release starts with "Bad Dreams", the idea for the track initially coming on a break away in the Finnish countryside, where the luscious soundscapes of soaring strings and stunning vocal harmonies allude to the beauty of the inspiring surrounds. Open calm is then fractured by a launch into a full scale celebration of skittering breaks and tonal hand drums. Fanu sculpts breakbeat phrases so fluid in movement, exciting in the dance, with the occasional punctuation of heavy hip hop rhythms and an underlayer of a deep morphing bassline adding a delightful contrasting weight.
"Da Movement" is the darker horse of the release, bringing in Fanu's sample hunting mania. It launches with attitude riddled vocal samples, layered over slightly discordant chimes and eery stretched vocals, running through on a heavy yet organic half steppers beat, infused with elements of hip hop, drum n bass and playful 808s to a growling mid line and rumbling sub. It's guaranteed to get the stomp on on the dance floor whilst simultaneously making for involved home listening.
Coleco's remix of "Bad Dreams" strips the original back to a soft, contemplative half step flow. Echoing claps bounce like skimming stones across a tranquil lake of synthesis whilst reminiscing chord structures, both joyous and melancholic, with a soft tape distortion, border on the stylings of Boards of Canada. If the original is the excitement of the party, the remix is the gentle reflection of the after party at sunrise.
The release has already been raising curious, excited comments among the lovers of 160-170 BPM bass music.

'French future soul man Gerwin teams up with Geneva songstress LaMeduza for a future funk cut aptly named Life Cycle.
Opening up with a lonely organ behind a trickle of water, Gerwin smoothly transcends us into some perfectly played guitars licks countering the lush piano hooks.
LaMeduza opens up her vocal chords with a look back at yesteryear before the hypnotic and electro bass drifts you on to the dancefloor, with the tight percussion keeping you moving to the already perfect melody.
The vocal will be in your head for weeks after the first listen and it's a tune that will evoke different emotions inside the soul of even the hardened drumnbass fan, perfection.
Trilo has been making waves of late with works on synonymous label Renegade Hardware, here he debut's for Dust Audio and keeps to his favoured neuro sound with Voicefreak.
Opening with an epic synth and the trace-esque escapism which he does so well, Trilo builds it into some serious drum and vocal editing that the Slovakian man manages with ease, the mid-range bass lines rumble the skull and the bottom end destroys the rib cage.
If you're a fan of techy sounds with an epic slant then Voicefreak ticks all the boxes.
Finishing off this Vinyl release Dust Audio welcome Break to remix the Life Cycle track, and what a job he has done.
Without straying too far from the original he sprinkles the Break magic powder upon the tune and brings about stunning results.
Heavy rolling drums lay the foundation for the rumble of the gargantuan bottom end that will have you shouting for the skies.
Ultra tight percussion with the mid-range LFO fluctuations adds to the movement and the hi-hats roll it out till the last drop. Brilliant from one of the most sought after producers of all time.'

Noisia have revealed the title and tracklist for their forthcoming compilation, 'Ten Years Of Vision Recordings', celebrating the tenth anniversary of the trio's Vision cordings imprint.
The album includes 22 remastered tracks from the label's back catalogue, and two new unreleased songs (bundle only) - Noisia's 'Incessant', and a collaboration between Noisia, Mefjus & Hybris called 'Reptilians'. Besides (now) classic tunes from Noisia themselves, the tracklist features works by some of the most respected artists in drum & bass, including Phace, The Upbeats, Calyx & TeeBee, Spor, Black Sun Empire and Mayhem.
'Ten Years Of Vision Recordings' is available as a double CD accompanied and a limited edition forty page book showcasing ten years of Vision artwork, featuring all vinyl, CD and digital covers, booklets and sleeves. Each week Vision will run a Throwback Thursday promotion, whereby the label will upload a release from back catalogue onto their SoundCloud and YouTube channels. At the end of February, Noisia will create a special podcast around the compilation release.
This compilation coincides with the launch of the 2015 Noisia Invites tour, featuring 10 European shows across Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic, Denmark, UK, The Netherlands (x2), Italy and France (x2).
The tickets for the new tour are on sale now, and follow previous sold-out Noisia Invites events in the UK, Germany, Belgium, Spain and The Netherlands. Further information and tickets via: www.noisiainvites.nl
The Noisia Invites concept sees Noisia host, curate and play each event, alongside a handpicked selection of leading and emerging talent. Previous artists have included Chase & Status, Wilkinson, TC, Audio, UZ, The Upbeats, Hybris, Alix Perez, Kill the Noise, Phace, Rockwell, Black Sun Empire, Calyx & TeeBee, Foreign Beggars, Neosignal, Friction, KOAN Sound, Mefjus, Ed Rush and many others.
Since the release of July's 'Purpose EP', Noisia's recent projects include the Valve Music Pack release, and their Driveclub Remix of Hybrid for Sony's new Driveclub game, plus November's performances with the North Netherlands Symphony Orchestra (NNO) at two unique live events at Groningen's historic VERA venue.
Working from their brand new, state of the art studios in their hometown of Groningen, Noisia have gradually developed and cultivated a sound that's obsessed with production techniques; a sound that's instantly recognisable whether you're hearing three minutes of a Noisia track dropped at a festival or three hours of it while playing DmC Devil May Cry.

2014 stands as a defining moment for the RAM Records imprint. Not only did it announce the pivotal signing of artists like Audio, Teddy Killerz and Bensley but they also oversaw the birth of compilation series RAMLife hosted by Loadstar. Even in its first form, it contained nearly every essential release the last twelve months had to offer.
But this year, RAMLife is taking you into deeper and murkier dimensions. Having already flexed his production muscle on the ricocheting, four-track 'Nil by Mouth' EP, as well as his first visual debut in the music video for 'Heads Up', it's now time for Audio to cut open and expose his musical psyche.
Including some of the most aggressive, technically adept and prominent artists the genre has to offer, including Bad Company, Optiv & BTK and Noisia to name a few, no stone goes unturned for the album's entirety. Audio also throws bass-fuelled bullets in the form of exclusives, with explosive VIPs that have yet to be released.
The brand new cut 'Foodchain' from Audio sets a theme which is prevalent throughout all 27 tracks. Uncompromising yet diligently crafted, it leads you into a freight train of musicality which holds you hostage from start to finish. Zipping through to the mechanical composition of Mefjus' 'Brainwork', all the way back to Spor's heavy-hitting 'Bullet Time' remix; this is a no holds barred exploration of the genre's darker side.

For those who've been paying attention Cutline have been one of 2010's most successful new acts. They have already released a collaboration with Barbarix on High Rankin's 'This Is Suicide Dub' compilation LP and remixed The Qemists, J Majik & Wickaman, Nick Thayer and Mindflow, the latter of which smacked into the Beatport charts at #3 and had the support of 125 A-list DJs worldwide (Paul Van Dyk surprisingly included).

* Med School are delighted to welcome Sunchase aboard with a debut 4-track EP that fuses melodic electronica and drum & bass with thoughtful percussive patterns, compelling vocals and infectious bass lines.
* Downtempo title track 'The Truth' is transcendent and thought-provoking, opening with beautiful simplicity and a gorgeous vocal softly whispering throughout. The track unfolds with a hidden depth of heavy synths that gradually builds into an atmospheric wave of calm. Contrastingly 'Thing' is an excellent example of less being so much more. Sunchase combines forces with Electrosoul System to create a warped, futuristic and minimalistic drum & bass excursion hooking you in with astute and captivating vocal chops.
* On the flip side is 'Kolo' featuring Blu Mar Ten. An effortless blend of distilled musicality intertwined with complex yet crisp drum patterns and a haunting string section, all exuding that distinct Blu Mar Ten essence. Last, but by no means least, is the infectious and funk-ridden bass line of 'Think of You', a track to keep your ears guessing and feet moving.
* Sunchase first entered the wider drum & bass consciousness back in 2004 with the anthem 'Remember Me'. He has subsequently released with many respected labels including the seminal Moving Shadow, Noisia's Invisible imprint and has appeared on Hospital Records' 'Hospitality 2010' and 'Sick Music 3' compilations. His debut album 'Static Nitro' picked up Mixmag's album of the month and received widespread critical acclaim back in 2010, more recently he featured on Lung's debut album 'Wait Less Suspense' on Med School. 'The Truth' EP builds on these solid foundations, it's refreshing and honest, exhibiting Sunchase's versatility and unrestricted creative liberation.

Leading up to the release of their next album, Tribazik return with the remx EP 'Spacetime Collapse', featuring remixes from such electronic royalty as Venetian Snares. Tribazik are no newcomers to the spotlight. Having supported influential post punk band Killing Joke on their European tour and having previously enjoyed reviews from Rock Sound, Kerrang and Terrorizer on their last album 'All Blood Is Red', mixed by Andy Gill, of Gang Of Four, the band are establishing themselves as a force to be reckoned with. Band members Hedge Seel, Jerry Kandiah and Syan Barlow have each earnt their music industry colours. Jerry runs the infamous Old Street studios, Syan's last band Interlock released the critically acclaimed album 'Crisis//Reinvention' on Anticulture records in 2004, and Hedge's intricate drum solos are enough to make a session player wet himself.
The EP is a rock-electronic fusion, that takes Jungle drum patterns and Acid Techno bleeps and puts them together with menacing bass guitar riffs and distorted electric guitars. The original mix's intro greets us with tribal like drum fills and inspired bass guitar finger picking. Energetic vocals from Jerry soar over the percussion and bass, whilst Hedge's intense live drum work can't help but impress - it's complexity immediately intrigues. Electric guitars enter sporadically mingling side by side with acid squelches. A daring fusion pulled off. Coming to the first remix, we have Venetian Snares' interpretation. VSnares, as he is sometimes known, is a man who needs little introduction, having received praise from industry icons such as John Peel and having released on Planet Mu, for the last 12 years. Here he dishes out a 5 minute workout of insane amen break madness. This is perfectly complemented by drilling bass hits and vocal samples. The sheer complexity of the drum programming is astonishing.
Next up - Chris Liberator and Sterling Moss provide an Acid techno remix.
Having built up a solid reputation in the world of Acid Techno, the pair have
been selling out shows in; Australia, Japan and Brazil. Taking the bass
guitar and putting it behind a marching bassline, the production duo
then build up in insistency and urgency into an acid frenzy. Kenny Parish, AKA Ghost, offers up a gorgeously filthy remix. Drum beats
and percussion simmer away. Then we launch into full on chopped up live jungle break samples, courtesy of Hedge Seel. Meanwhile Ghost pumps gallons of throbbing bass into the mix - Top notch

This next release demonstrates exactly what can happen when you merge a formidable heavyweight with one of the genre's most promising talents. Jaguar Skills needs little introduction; he's infamous for his ninja-like DJing skills with years stacked behind the decks.
As a result, it was no surprise the artist tried his hands at production alongside Chord's impressive musicality. Already unstoppable from its conception, 'Lust' could only be released on an imprint known for its high quality. And RAM Records is proud to unleash this toe-tapping, catchy piece of sonic artwork on the dnb community...One that's already taken the radio airwaves by storm.
Opening with a rhythm that curls itself around your aural senses, prepare to be pulled into 'Lust' by its funky groove and well-chiselled hooks. The vocal delight of Matti Roots really brings light to the seasonal feel this track creates; an arpeggio of notes underpins each high-hitting voice crescendo. Bright but not without substance, Chords' production style is instantly recognisable. This debut from Jaguar Skills serves as a perfect platform for the high standards this mix-maker is about to set, as well as the benchmark which Chords has already carved.
On the flipside, Break holds onto the A-side's sunny disposition, yet throws down a riddim that hits as heavy as a freight train. The foundations laid by the producer are slightly different, as it rattles forward with clinking percussion, alluding to the kind of drop Break is renowned for. With his distinctive, boundary-pushing drum rolls and bouncy, booming and concise hits, there's no mistaking a sound which adds another dimension to the remixes' original.
You're also served up with another dish which is vastly different from house-guru Monstro. like the previous edit, the record's humanism winds up within the first thirty seconds, however the seismic impact of its drop rolls out into a house-bassline that thumps with every bar. A genre transition which doesn't fall short of the original's production prowess, prepare to hold onto your seats because this serves as the optimal way to wrap up two striking remixes of an already impressive track list.
Dominating playlists for years to come, this release from RAM is yet again taking the genre to another level. But considering the parties involved, there was no other direction for this record to take.
